Terrible service. Sitting here 15 minutes and still only have drinks and have not ordered yet.

Cinnamon bun was fab! Definitely a Diabetic Start Kit, if you know what I mean. My eggs and toast were not that great. And eggs and toast are pretty easy, right?

The chicken fried steak gets two stars. The service deserves no stars. At all. There is as many as ten plates at any given time ready to be served that just sit there and get cold. My eggs? Cold. Home fries? Cold. Everyone at my table had something wrong with their order. Missing food, burned eggs, quick grits in a microwave. You actually have to be wasted for any of this to be okay. Alyssa, our waitress, was either too tired or just inebriated, as she had to ask us way too many times what we ordered. By the time we got what we wanted we have up on the quality. Why do we have to tip… They really really don’t deserve it. Diner food is the food you order when you just want something they can’t mess up. But they really dropped the ball. Would never recommend.

The food was really well prepared but our waitress was more concerned with catching up on gossip than taking care of her customers. The food took forever and once ready, sat under a heat lamp until she was done conversing. She forgot my queso and my friends gravy. Stopped to talked to 2 more people before she looked up at me and I motioned to her to bring my stuff, then she decided to ask the cook. I’ll be back but will refuse being served by the same person.

When the food comes out, it’s really good. However, you have to wait FOREVER for your food. I feel be for the servers because they try. But you will wait at least 45 minutes to an hour for your food. So unfortunate knowing how busy they get towards the end of the night and they know this.

I have only ate the cinnamon roll but it was massive and tasted very good. It was cool to eat a three pound cinnamon roll that was on food network.

We mainly went for their World Famous Cinnamon Roll… which surprisingly was NOT on the menu oddly enough. It’s advertised on the staffs T-shirts though. We almost left when we walked in because the restaurant had a bad odor when you first walk in, but decided to stay since they were pretty busy. Also, a lot of homeless people were gathered right outside the front door, and it didn’t seem like it was in the best part of town. The breakfast tacos are small but good, and their salsa was very good. Have some time to spare because service was really slow. If they do something about the bad odor, I’d give them more stars.

I am pretty conflicted about this place. It used to be a legend. Now it is just scary and dirty. The place smells like overrun toilet. If I wasn’t starving and Jonesing for some CFS we would have been out. Plus our waitress… the only one without faciall tatoos… was super sweet and attentive. So we ordered and I tried to ignore to dirt and smell. Here is my dilemma… the chicken fried steak was legit! Awesome even! Everything else was sad or bad tasting but the CFS was God enough to make up for it all! I am adding some gross pics I took while waiting so you can judge for yourself. Service was good. CFS out of this world. Restaurant looks like a petri dish though. You be the judge.

This restaurant has been open for business about 20 years now, and is well known for their chicken fried steak. My husband ordered it and was not disappointed. The steak is huge! More importantly, it was good and hot. I ordered the bacon cheese burger and it was very good. I can’t really say the same about the French fries though. That was about the only thing that could use some flavor. The service was great, but the waitress did say that it was very slow(even though every table was used and we barely got a booth) and continued to say that the weekends people are waiting in line to get in. All in all the visit was worth it and we will be back again to try the rest of the menu.

I was visiting San Antonio & I remembered an episode of Man’s Vs. Food where Adam attempted the 3lb cinnamon roll. So, I had to come here during my visit! Cinnamon roll was actually ok. A little dry for my liking. BUT, their chicken fried steak was the best I’ve ever had!!! The serving size was humongous as well!!!

Now before I start this review I actually HATE to give negative reviews, but they happen occasionally… this is sadly is one. The neighborhood is a little sketchy to say the least.(Which usually the small hole in the wall places are the greatest so we went for it) They did however keep up with their landscaping. As I was opening the door the stench of urine hits me. Not really something I EVER want to experience at an eatery let alone that early in the morning. I was looking forward to trying a cinnamon roll as everyone raves about them. The waitstaff shirts even brag about them, not once was it mentioned in the menu. So we’re were thinking it’s just the 3lb’ers that they have(as they say it on their shirts, and that was going to be too much for just the two of us.) so we didn’t say anything about the cinnamon rolls and neither did the waitstaff. I order the biscuits and sausage gravy with eggs. The eggs were on point, however the sausage gravy and biscuits… The gravy was packaged, the sausage in the gravy was 2 sausage links cut up and laid on top. The biscuits are pre made and frozen.(Very hard to cut through I’m thinking they were freezer burnt or cooked to long in the microwave.) The hubby had an ham omelette, the eggs were again on point… the rest of the ingredients were the cheapest that you can get. Didn’t taste good at all. The toast that came with the omelette came with strawberry jam from some unknown maker that didn’t look like strawberry jam not smell or taste like it. He was afraid to eat it. Needless to say we didn’t finish our food. Our waitress would disappear and or be too busy yaking it up to bring out our food, give us refills bring our bill. Finally we received our bill and then she asked would you like a cinnamon roll to take home.(it would have been nice to have one here since that’s what they are known for but they are nowhere to be found or mentioned of, except for the shirts that say they are 3 lbs.) So we wait a good 10−15mins for her return to take the money for the food(mind you, we are one of 3 tables in this place and we were her only table.) The bathroom situation Dark(blown light bulbs), dirty(that place needs to be seen by Mr Clean), dingy and it smells. I was afraid to even touch anything and or wash my hands. Take a little pride in your restaurant and the ingredients you serve as that 3lb cinnamon can only carry you for so long. I hope to see this place get its act together as I could see it do extremely well if under the right management.

My bff and I stayed at the Motel 6 that’s next to the restaurant. Our only regret is that we only ate there once. The portions are HUGE and are a reasonable price. I had the chicken fried chicken and my friend had the chicken fried steak. I don’t see how the Luby’s across the street is still in business with this place there. From the time we got to San Antonio, from the time we left, this place stayed packed. I will definitely be coming back here.

Came for the cinnamon roll and I was not disappointed! Not sure about the rest of the food, the place is a bit of a hole in the wall. So far no one is sick, so no complaints. I can see the place getting busy since the prices seem reasonable and the food servings are huge by the looks of other customers orders. But about the cinnamon roll, that baby was huge!!! I think it was more than 3 lbs but I didn’t bring a scale. Great glaze and fluffy texture. You have to try it and bring friends!

As they say everything is always Bigger in Texas, and let’s just say they mean what they say when it comes to the 3lb Yummy Cinnamon Roll. This review is only based on our carryout experience. The cinnamon roll oozed with scrumptious flavors, down to the last bite. The service was what it should be, fast & easy. Upon reading all the other reviews I do hope they work on there customer service and hope they Don’t TARNISH what they created from the beginning.

First time here and I gotta say, my experience was horrible!!! They sat us down pretty fast but it all went downhill from there. Our server(Felicita) was just the slowest. She didn’t come to our table to even get drinks for the first 20 mins. Then it took her forever to bring the drinks. We heard one of the cooks say that breakfast was over at 11am and she was nowhere to be found. we had to complain just to get breakfast and it was already 10:59. They made an exception because they saw us come in earlier. After she took our orders, it felt like she ran away. I didn’t get my food until noon. By then, it was already cold. Even thought the food was cold, it was still pretty good. I got the chicken fried steak. The best part about this whole experience was the cinnamon rolls. I ordered it, paid for it, BUTNEVERGOTIT! 3 hours into this place and I got impatient, paid for my food and left. I did see that they deliver it so hopefully that’ll go pretty smooth. All said and done. The food that I got was good. A little cold, but good. But the service was by far the worst I’ve ever experienced.

food: chicken fried steak. totally worthwhile. it’s not a thin slab of chicken. not only the crunch. you get some of the meaty texture too. the gravy is a great complement. ***4/5 service: we sat at the counters. it was packed when when we were there. lots of people as others have mentioned. service was reliable since they cant escape us by the register. the food was a bit of wait, but not horrible. ***4/5 value: the portions are huge and worth the money. its delicious and fills you up. i almost didnt finish the food. ***5/5

Third time visiting Lulu’s and will never return due to poor service on behalf of a waitress who brought out the incorrect order(SAPD chicken fried steak with queso) after a 30 minute wait and proceeded to tell me that’s what I ordered(sheriffs special). I sat dumbfounded… like wow did I read the menu wrong? I got up from my seat and checked the menu. I ordered correctly, she obviously is new and doesn’t know the menu. She said«we’re really busy and it’s going to take awhile.»(Totally not how you handle this situation, anyone in food service should know that.) At this point I’ve been there for 45 minutes. Thankfully the management is seasoned and handled this incident promptly and got the correct order out to us within minutes. Then 10 minutes the waitress came with the same order and was surprised to see we already had our meal. Absurd! I went to pay and my waitress ignored me and proceeded to check out the man next in line. I interjected and said I’d been waiting in line and was next. She said, «your waiter has to cash you out.» I naturally became livid, and shouted«you are my waitress!» This inexperienced waitress completely ruined Lulu’s for me and I’ll never recommend this place regardless if the food portions are good for the prices. Plus, parking can be a nightmare.

Super late night visit after a concert, so there was almost nobody there. Of course we came for the world-famous cinnamon roll, and it didn’t disappoint. I was sure that because of the size it would be dry, but it was very soft and tender, and covered with plenty of icing. There were only 2 of us, so we barely got through ¼ of it. We shared a CFS, trying to prevent the sugar overload and it was perfectly cooked with plenty of cream gravy. The mashed potatoes were cold, but the fried okra was good.

The potatoes were burnt. I had high expectations because of good things I’ve heard from this place. But I was so disappointed with the food. The service was great and the food selection was enough for me to visit often but those burnt potatoes were enough for me to never go again.

I rarely give bad reviews… But this place was exceptionally bad service! The wife and I saw this place on DDD and decided to give it a try. After around 15 minutes of being completely ignored at the counter I finally got the attention of someone to take our drink and food order. We almost walked out after 32 minutes(we timed it!) of waitstaff walking back and forth ignoring the food sitting under the heat lamps. When the food was finally brought to us it was dead from the excessive time under the lamps. I’ll never return

It’s one of the few places open 24 hours that isn’t fast food. The food is ordinary, but the service is good. So if you work funky hours, it’s a good place to get a decent meal. The cinnamon rolls are advertised as weighing 3 pounds … but the one I got was closer to 4 pounds, yes I weighed it when I got home. The cinnamon roll is special only because of it’s size. It tastes decent, but not exceptional.

Was in San Antonio and looked up «The Best Chicken Fried Steak» and Lulu’s showed up. We were relatively close so we scampered over to try this famous steak. We got there around 3:45 for a late lunch/early dinner and the place was slammed! We were seated pretty quickly in a run down booth with rips in the chairs. Obviously, people weren’t coming here for the décor…LOL. Also, it’s not in the best part of town, but that didn’t stop the customers from coming in. Anyway, we only had the chicken fried steak on our mind and both wifey and I ordered the same thing. She got mashed potatoes and green beans with hers, while I opted for the fried okra and mashed. We had to wait a little for the food, but that was to be expected by the amount of people that were there. When our food did arrive, my okra was lukewarm at best and not even a little crunchy and the mashed potatoes were hard. No joke, they were hard. My wife received a dinner roll with her order(I didn’t get one) and the sides were hard like the little sucker had been sitting out for a while. And her sides were also cool and I don’t mean like Fonzy, either. Anyway, we dive into the steak and it’s crunchy and is decent. Not this«spectacular» piece of fried paradise as others had indicated. It was just Ok and I’ve definitely had better, but maybe they were off that day. I don’t know, but I know I’m not interested in going back. Next time I’m in San Antonio, I will look for another famous Chicken Fried Steak at another place.

Walked out after 40 mins of no service! Horrible service! New Years Day is of course a busy day, but seriously. We waited outside for 20 mins which was fine. It was a nice day. We then waited 5 mins for the waitress to bring us water and take our order. The coffee came pretty quickly and then the wait began. We waited, and waited, and waited. We were discussing the cinnamon rolls and decided to order one to go when our waitress came back. So we waited, and waited, and waited. She never returned or acknowledged us again. 40 mins. No exaggeration! 40 mins. Coffee and water were long gone. No refills, no nothing. The place where the cooks place the plates for the wait staff to pick up was over full and they had no more room to put orders out. Apparently the wait staff was just not delivering them. We left. I really wanted to try that cinnamon roll! Now I will never get the chance.

I was told by a friend to go to Lulu’s and have their 3 pound Cinnabon. It was so huge! Five of us could not finish it. It was so delicious and soft. The cinnamon frosting was perfection. It was the best I’ve tasted. If you’re in the San Antonio area, this is a must go.

Tried breakfast at this place. Hated it. Eggs were overcooked rubber, couldn’t eat more than a bite. Cheap white bread was the only option for toast, didn’t even try that, it is too unhealthy. Did notice they don’t have real butter either, just cheapo margarine. Service was as bad as their food. Only good thing was coffee.

Definitely come for the chicken fried steak and cinnamon roll! I enjoyed my time at Lulu’s for breakfast for dinner. Enjoyed the chicken-fried steak with the cheese queso, but may switch to the gravy next time. Bring at least 4 – 5 hungry souls to tackle their ridiculously huge cinnamon roll! One roll is more than good enough for the party. Also, the people here are quite friendly!

Of course due to seeing Man v. Food’s Adam Richman visit here, I was dying to eat here. It’s a seat yourself diner and serves breakfast all day in addition to lunch/dinner options including their world famous chicken fried steak. Our waitress was okay, not too friendly or attentive, but the food was great. I ordered the deputy special(chicken fried steak), which came with two sides. The mac and cheese was mediocre, but everything else was awesome. I couldn’t eat all of it and took it home. The leftovers were even better! I regret not getting the world famous 3 ½ pound cinnamon roll though… Maybe next time.

Very busy diner even on a Monday morning… but then again lots of people were still off for the holidays. Husband ordered a regular breakfast while I ordered the chicken fried steak plate. I wasn’t that impressed with the CFS. Good size, good crunch, meat a little chewy. Mashed potatoes sucked, fried okra good. Hard dinner roll. Food took like 40 min to come out. We gawked at the tables who ordered the 3 lb cinnamon roll. Huge! But no thanks… we probably wouldn’t have even put a dent in it.

The huge cinnamon roll is truly huge. I think it’s a rite of passage for a new San Antonio resident. I cannot say that I didn’t enjoy the cinnamon roll, although I do not think I will every need one again. I felt that I almost enjoyed it out of the sheer novelty of it. Not really because it was special. Our group didn’t enjoy anything else, just a cinnamon roll and a coffee. The coffee was fresh, hot, but not especially good. Our server was very kind and very used to wrapping up these huge cinnamon rolls for us to enjoy later. The bathroom was pretty gross. I’m not sure if I’ll return to try the other food.

OMG. This stuff was awesome. After me eating my «Deputy’s Plate» — a Large Chicken Fried Steak with 2 sides, I had the Mac n Cheese & Mashed potatoes, my wife having her chicken tortilla soup, we could only eat a SMALL sliver of Cinnamon Roll but brought the rest to the hotel. 1st pic is my «Deputy’s Plate» — Chicken Fried Steak with 2 sides and a School lunchroom type roll and her Chicken Tortilla soup. The 2nd is the 3lb. Cinnamon Roll. OMG! You can’t go wrong.

Wanted to see what this humongous cinnamon I kept hearing about. Lets say, it was pretty dang good. It was warm, glazed w/icing, and served on a warm plate. Perfect to share. It didn’t have too much of that cinnamon streusel on the inside, but just enough. I needed a glass of milk or coffee, but too bad it was late at night when we decided to come here.

Around 11pm, my girlfriend and I were still hungry after leaving the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. We Unilocaled for a 24 hour diner nearby and Lulu’s popped up! I had heard many stories about their giant cinnamon rolls, so why not check it out! Parking was no problem. Once we stepped through the door, we were greeted instantly and instructed to seat ourselves. I was pretty pumped to see that chicken fried steak was their specialty. As a plump kid growing up, I ate chicken fried steak to my heart’s content! I ordered the Deputy Special chicken fried steak with my 2 sides of mac’n cheese and mashed potatoes. Of course I also ordered the famous 3lb cinnamon roll. YOLO. Chicken fried steak: Meat was tender, breading was spot on(not too thick or too thin), gravy was smooth and peppery. Definitely one of the better ones I’ve had. Mac’n cheese: Nothing special here. Mashed potatoes: Chunky with skins on. Kudos for keeping the skin. Dinner roll: Dry, but manageable with a pad of butter. Cinnamon roll: Overrated. Large scale food tends to suffer from proportion issues. No exception here. The layers of dough are too thick causing the cinnamon sugar layers to get lost. Because of its size, the cinnamon roll lacks essential cinnamon flavor and is on the edge of being dry. I would definitely come back for the chicken fried steak, and maybe some mashed potatoes. Save yourself from diabetes and pass on the 3lb cinnamon roll.
