I just called right now, someone picked up the phone and said nothing for 4 seconds and hung up on me, with no discreet. I have not got to try to place, but how will I knowing the service is not professional. You could at least informed me your closing of that is the case, since that is the only reason why I was calling.

Small bakery with limited selection. I tried the chocolate croissant, which was pretty average. The Sacher Torte was rich, chocolatey and a bit over-sweet.

Barron’s — We went there before the show at the Majestic. We had done it before and it was fine. This time, we made reservations. After we arrived, we were told that because there was a group of 32 eating, the kitchen was closed and we could only eat off the buffet. I would have eaten better at the Golden Corral, paid less and had more choices. The two options were dried baked chicken and burnt pizza. The selected cheeses had been picked clean and there four pieces to choose from. The soup was bland, and that left a salad or pasta bar. Salad was marginal at best and my wife liked the pasta bar. Desserts were ok, but not up to par with the bakery. In short, I was very dissatisfied and will not go back unless they are actually cooking food, and not reheating yesterday’s leftovers.

We stopped here for breakfast. The items were over priced and not too tasty. I had a biscuit with 1 piece of link sausage(cut in half) for $ 4. The pastry that we shared was dry. Will not go back.

Awesome place! highly recommended! We were visiting San Antonio during the holidays and we found this place through Unilocal! We did not have a car so we had to walk from our downtown hotel but I am so glad that we took the walk!!! It was so worth it. My two daughter and us had breakfast there. The price is very reasonable, the pastries and breakfast burritos were fresh and delicious.

I had a very good breakfast. You can get your eggs made to order while you watch with any or all of the 14 meats, cheeses and vegetables! The very large buffet had all kinds of bakery made pastries and breads, hot oatmeal, cold cuts and cheese, sausage, bacon, potatoes, fruit salads, yogurt, many kinds of juices and milks, cold cereals, and lots of good quality coffee. I was too full to get any of the other fantastic looking pastry from the counter. Lots of seating by the large windows so you can look outside. There is also seating outside. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable about the foods served here as well as doing an excellent at keeping everything clean and presentable. I would eat here again!

They have starbucks coffee and make a pretty decent drink to go with your breakfast. Pastries look yummy but I’ll pass.

Stopped in here for lunch because the bakery name is one letter off from my last name. Knowing that San Antonio was founded by a large German population, there is a chance the the namesake is a distant relative and you gonna support your family! I was craving a salad and hadn’t seen very many on the menu at other places but the bakery had a couple. I asked the girl working which one out of the 6 or so that they had was her favorite. She told me she didn’t really eat salad. Her and the rest of SA which must be why they are so hard to find. I settled on the cobb, dressing on the side, and an iced coffee. The coffee was out quickly and Starbucks brew, yum. The salad out not too long after. I took it to eat on the cute patio out front. Overall it was a great salad, large with lot of topping. My ‘dressing on the side’ turned out to be a ¼ quart container of dressing. I didn’t even make a dent in it. The pastries in the case looked awesome, I’ll have to try them next time.

Adorable bakery! The coffee is by Starbucks but it’s not a full menu. Some things are different. There are only a couple of people that work the counter and I don’t know that they are really baristas at heart so much as they are just working at the bakery. I had a tea and coffee from here and both of them were really good. They have great options for pastries and cake, along with regular café style food if you want something substantial. You can order and go hang out on the from of Barron’s attached to the hotel. It’s a great place to people watch. However, I will tell you, it is a little bit pricy!

This is a very upscale bakery with much more than brownies and cookies to offer. Do try the strawberry mousse cake, so rich and luscious with strawberries, or a piece of the coconut vanilla cake, the best vanilla cake I have ever eaten. They have many kinds of cake slices, eclairs, cream puffs, and napoleons as well as the usual bakery offerings. I tried the chocolate napolean just because I had never seen the chocolate variety before and was it delicious, rich and creamy filling between crispy layers of thin pastry. They offer coffee to go along with your pastry that you can enjoy at counter seating or at tables on the patio. A coffee and slice of cake is under $ 5 so it is reasonable as well. Gunter Bakery is attached to Barron’s Restaurant in the Sheraton Hotel. Barron’s has a weekend breakfast brunch for about $ 10 that is delicious and even includes strawberry blintzes plus you can park in the hotel’s valet parking for free if you are eating at Barron’s. Everyone I have taken to either of these places has raved about the experience.

The weather has been ridiculously cold in SA, so what’s better for lunch than a hot bowl of soup? I knew the Gunter Bakery had some on the menu, so I braved the cold and wind in promise of a great lunch. After trying the two soups on their menu, I’ve decided I’m pretty unimpressed. I’m at the moment, trying to power through the Tortilla Soup I picked up today. It is very greasy, the chicken is dry and they give you a tiny pinch of cheese, sour cream and guac(I omitted the tortilla chips). It just doesn’t have a great flavor overall. The French Onion was also very greasy and the giant onion chunks weren’t cooked enough. I haven’t tried their sandwiches, but their pastries actually look pretty amazing. Maybe they should stick to stuff they pull out of the oven.
