I go there with my wife and 3yr old. The food is awesome I haven’t been to a place where the quality of food is so great. The service is incredible, they go above and beyond to make sure you have the best service. For this reason I will continue to go there and refer anyone I know.

I do NOT recommend Phở Nguyen. If you’re looking for a $ 10 bowl of Phở with little meat and a $ 5 iced coffee with poor service then go ahead. Otherwise, check out another Vietnamese restaurant. We stayed in the Stone Oak area for Spring Break and saw that this restaurant got 4 stars. We ordered Calamari, Bo Luc Lac, Phở Tai Chin, Café Sua Da and Che Ba Mau. Everything tasted delicious and we didn’t notice any hair or gnats in our food like others have on Unilocal, hence the 2 star rating. However, the prices are too high and the service was poor. $ 10 for a big bowl of phở is what I expect in California, not in San Antonio! $ 5 drinks and desserts are expensive too, but at least they were good. The short lady by the cashier(who I assume is the owner) served the Che Ba Mau(3-color dessert) which turned out to be more like a 5-ingredient dessert, far from the menu description. She explained in Vietnamese, «We don’t have yellow mung bean, rather we use taro, which is far better/superior. I think it’s your first time here. Everything we make here is delicious. If you don’t want the dessert then I’ll take it back. But if you are going to try it then I have to charge you, whether you like it or not.» Okay, lady, I agree your food is good, but fix your menu so this doesn’t happen again. And BTW, this was my first and last visit. A simple, «I’m sorry for the confusion. Our menus need to be updated. You should try this dessert — you won’t be disappointed,» would have been nice.

My family of five tried this place since we were passing through. Food is tasty. Spring rolls & fried little egg rolls are yum. Also, ordered the vegetable noodle soup, vermicelli noodles with chargrilled pork, 2 No.14’s, Banh mi, & beef dish. Problem was the owners need to work on service. Hair in spring roll & completely forgot to bring the Banh mi. Could have saved dinner by being more attentive to service. I would go back bcs food is tasty. My husband would not bcs service was not up to ‘American’ standards. My advice if yo heart tasty food at this mom& pop: be patient & confirm your order a couple of times.

Phở Nguyen is a small little gem in a large shopping plaza, but the food and service is absolutely exceptional. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive and the space is deceptively large. I had the calamari which was crispy and on point as well as the bun bo hue(spicy beef noodle soup). It was spicy but still incredibly flavorful. Love the atmosphere and the general aesthetics. Would definitely be coming back next time I’m in the city. Best of all, they have bubble tea!

This is a sweet find in San Antonio. I’m Phở picky — the magic is in the complex broth, and too many places are wanna-be’s. Phở Nguyen gets it spot on. It was early Sunday evening and I walked in with high hopes because there were clues that this was family owned and operated — a sign of authenticity. I ordered the Phở Tai and received a HUGE bowl quite quickly — overflowing with deliciousness — accompanied with sprouts, jalapenos, basil and a wedge of lime. This is some GOODPHO!!! My husband ordered chicken and fried rice with a side of Phở broth(which they didn’t charge us for). He loves mixing his rice with broth and probably could’ve been satisfied with just those. Next time he may pass on the protein and get a double order of rice. The kicker was coconut juice — a cool, sweet glass of scrumptious with tender coconut meat gracing the bottom of the glass just waiting for our fingers to fish it out — YUM! We live in New Braunfels and consider the food well worth the drive — we’ll be back!

I love phở! The brisket phở they served has a slightly sweet broth with a nice finish. The bail they provided on the side was very fresh and fragrant, which I appreciate. I like mine spicy, but they only brought two jalapeño slices with my bowl! Luckily, I know how to ask for what I want and they were more than happy to provide an additional side to satisfy my lip tingling addiction. Service was great! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the stone oak area for lunch!

This restaurant is the REALDEAL! I have never been disappointed eating here. The food, service, and prices are all on point. I highly recommend this place for Phở but all of the dishes are excellent so you can’t go wrong. The atmosphere is a bit muted but don’t let appearances fool you– this is a great restaurant.

I went to this restaurant, because I am new to the area and wanted to find a Vietnamese restaurant. When we pull up at 6:00PM, ghost town we passed it and had to go back. The staff was just nice enough, slightly rushed. Fast forward I order my food, specifically stating no onions(highly allergic) she says no white onions I reply okay, they make the fried noodles, seafood and veggies. When they bring it to the table i break a piece of the noodles off not the texture I expected but thought moving the sauce around would soften it. Then my lips start tingling, I use my chopsticks to move the seafood around and sure enough there are onions for days… It was more important to argue that she said no white onions than she didn’t ask if green onions were okay. We paid for everything everything what I didn’t eat at all… I WILLNEVERGOBACK… BEWAREIFYOUHAVEFOODALLERGIES!!!

First time coming to this place. The food was great, service was a little slow, but I suspect that had to do with the fact this is a family owned business and they were here eating lunch too and it seemed they were taking priority. Food came out fast but presentation was a little sloppy. It’s the closest phở place to my house and I will probably come back and try it out again.

My favorite place in town for Phở! I’ve tried a couple other dishes and they were just as amazing! Very friendly staff!

I really like this place but to be honest it’s pretty pricey for what you get. I’m from CA where you can find Asian food for cheap and to pay almost $ 10 for a bowl of phở here was a lil too much for me. Don’t get me wrong, the phở was delicious and if you ask them for satay(the dried chili in hot oil) it’s pretty tasty as well, it was definitely the spiciest satay I’ve ever had. Service is REALLY nice, our waiter was a man, and he seemed to be the owner as well. He tried to be as attentive as possible. Haven’t found a better Phở place in San Antonio yet so I’ll probably be returning here for my phở cravings.

Delicious!!! I got the tofu vegetable phở and it met my expectations. If you’re looking for some authentic phở this is the place.

I was looking for somewhere to sit down and eat on my break from work. I’ve been craving phở for a while now, and I drove to this restaurant because it was the closest to work. The restaurant itself looks like it used to be a Greek or Italian restaurant prior to becoming a Vietnamese restaurant. The lady(I assume it’s the owner) that took my order and another table’s order was very short and spoke in a rushed fashion even though the restaurant was empty. I ordered a small bowl of phở with eye round steak and the grilled pork spring rolls. The food came out promptly, and I noticed the phở broth was oily just by looking at it. Usually at Vietnamese restaurants you get a mountain of sprouts, basil, and jalapeño with your bowl of phở– here you don’t. My phở was also lacking meat due to it having only a few small 2 – 3 pieces of steak. The steak was a tough and the broth really lubricated my lips(guess I don’t need chapstick after this meal). Besides the broth being oily, it did have a decent flavor that beats out many other phở restaurants I have visited in SA. Also, my water wasn’t refilled after I finished drinking it. Tip: For the price, I would find elsewhere to eat because other places are more generous with their portions than this establishment and are cheaper!

I don’t know what kind of crack they were smoking today. I was a single person and ordered my meal and they just completely forgot to place it. My appetizer came and I waited 30 min for my food. I asked what was the hold up and that’s when they found out that never placed my soup order. I got an appetizer and they didn’t want to change my card unless it was a 10 dollar minimum. I payed for my 7 dollar spring rolls and the lady didn’t give me back my change. I didn’t ask for it because it’s rude not to tip. I would of given the guy more than a 80 cent tip is she hadn’t held my change hostage. Not coming here again. 2 stars because the food is good.

I had a craving for Banh Mi since my last visit to Houston a couple of weeks ago. Whenever I want really delicious Asian food then I wait until I go back to Houston to pig out. However, my boyfriend and I decided to start trying out all the Vietnamese restaurants in San Antonio to find one to satisfy our cravings. This place might be one of three places we’ll start frequenting. I ordered the spring rolls and the BBQ pork Banh Mi sandwhich. I was so excited until I saw the price for these items $ 12.12 for both of them with tax. That is double the price of what I would pay in Chinatown in Houston and it’s also half the size! The food there is legit but the prices are too high for simple Vietnamese cuisine. I guess they just overcharge because they’re in The Legacy shopping center and have to stick it to their customers. If you don’t mind overpaying for food that won’t exactly fill you up then this is a good option. Typically one order or spring rolls or sandwich would be enough but this time it wasn’t. That just goes to show you how small their portions are if I can eat both before feeling full.

Phở Nguyen has easily become one of my favorite Asian eateries in San Antonio’s Far North Central district. I’ve yet to find error with anything on their menu… the restaurant’s food variety, quality, authenticity, and prices are all extremely satisfactory. Every waitstaff member serves you with smiles and is more than accommodating to your needs. I’ve tried their phở(SUPER savory, balanced well with abundant herbs and vegetables!!!), crisp-tofu spring rolls with perfectly rich peanut sauce, sriracha chargrilled-pork sandwich with cilantro/mint/carrots, and hot Vietnamese coffee. Can’t stress enough the freshness of everything. Stop reading and check this place out, now!

I have a slight obsession with Vietnamese cuisine and phở itself, and have been dying to find my new go-to spot in SA. This evening, a couple of friends and I decided to give Phở Nguyen a shot. The reviews were sort of mixed, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. I came late, but my friends explained that the owner had been extremely attentive upon their arrival and gave numerous recommendations on the menu based on their desires. They ordered a mango boba tea — and I tell you what… It will change your life! Made with real mango purée and non dairy creamer… You mean, I can be lactose intolerant and actually enjoy this delectable treat?!? *take my money* I had my mind made up before I even arrived and ordered the #23, shrimp, grilled chicken, and egg roll over vermicelli with fish sauce for my entrée and the fresh shrimp spring rolls to start. The fresh spring rolls were crisp, refreshing, and to die for when dipped into their finger-licking good dipping sauce(I think it’s a hoisin like sauce with peanuts?) When my #23 arrived, I couldn’t help but dive in after the first bite. My picture is not the least bit helpful because I was ¾ through the bowl before I remembered, «oh yeah, this is definitely Unilocal worthy.» The shrimp and chicken were cooked to perfection, and so delicious paired with the fish sauce. The vermicelli noodles were perfect; not too soggy and not hard. Needless to say, I licked my bowl clean. My friends both ordered the phở combo(large)– huge– and they both all but finished each of them. So if you’re looking for a life changing authentic Vietnamese cuisine– Go. Now. But really though! It’s safe to say we will be back probably like tomorrow.

Came here last week for dinner with my brother. It was raining, cold, and miserable. Usually when the weather turns… I’m craving some phở. We get seated on a Wednesday evening and we decide to get a noodle bowl(Bun) and a small bowl of phở for me. The soup was good and hit the spot. It was the right amount of food and came out piping hot. I hate how many places that do Vietnamese food are stingy with the accompaniments. There was, as usual, just one sprig of thai basil. My kingdom for a few sprigs of basil! Sadly, this place was typical. My brothers noodle bowl looked good. It was a pretty large bowl and filled with lots of stuff. Service was quick and efficient. They were playing authentic Vietnamese music… which many Viet places don’t do anymore. It was a nice flashback moment to my childhood when we used to go out for phở every Saturday morning as a family.

I gave this restaurant 4 instead of 3 stars because the service was good, the people very nice, and the restaurant’s interior is inviting. I think it used to be a Greek or Mediterranean restaurant. For Sunday night, it was pretty quiet, so good came out quickly and the server was prompt. I ordered a phở meal, which was tasty. The broth was a bit too oily, although portions and flavor was good. The meatballs were not really exciting and the beed brisket was a bit too fatty(about half an inch of fat pass the thinly sliced beef). The vegetables offered we’re great quality and in an abundance. The noodles were good, as was most of the other items. Price ranges about $ 9.50 for regular and a dollar more for large. I would enjoy coming back to try a vermicelli or rice plate, since the phở didn’t really impress me. The flavoring was great, but it seemed too oily. The next day, i reheated it, but I noticed the container was solid in the fridge. Perhaps it had congealed, but I was afraid it was oil? I definitely think you should try out this restaurant to see your thought!

Pretty dang tasty! Love the Greek/Italian warehouse-y look & feel… very open & airy. The restrooms were really hot & muggy. Otherwise, nice joint. We went for lunch on a weekday. Started with the summer rolls…2 rolls loaded with veggies & shrimp, good! The peanut dipping sauce was the best part & quite wonderful. Next up, we shared a pork bahn mi(you have other meat choices). Kinda small compared to others I’ve had in the city, but quite good. The toasted, buttery bread had a nice crunch. The meat was tender & had good flavor/wasn’t runny. I’d like more veggies in there, personally. There were a few carrots, cucumbers, & green peppers. Lastly, we shared a pork & shrimp vermicelli bowl… the fried spring rolls were unique & quite good. The shrimp was fresh & very well-seasoned with a nice crunch to it. The pork was the same as in the bahn mi, yum. Veggies were carrots, green onions, and cilantro. Again… I’d like a lil’ more veggie/less noodle, but, a small qualm. Service was super-fast for lunch… it was only us & another table when we arrived and our food all arrived within 15 minutes. Very nice people/service. Family owned, I’d guess. Go here if you’re in the area!
