Stopped here for lunch today and was not impressed. The lady behind the counter was not very friendly and actually made me feel like I was bothering her. I usually go to the one on pat booker they are very friendly there. Don’t think I will be going back to this one.

There’s nothing better than really good tortilla soup on a cold night. You won’t find that at McAlisters. Their soup has NO vegetables, very little chicken and the broth is a gelatinous mess. Do not recommend!

Just ok. The service was not exceptional nor was the food. I’d look for better options if you have have the time.

Chicken salad on croissant is the best. Creamy chicken salad with grapes. Very full of chicken. Yummy

The sweet tea is great, I’ll give them that. Came for lunch and had the spud olé with chili, cheese and jalapeños. I got the worst food poisoning of life. In the past, my food poisoning culprit has been turkey. Not sure if there was some sort of cross contamination or if the chili meat was old or what. Everyone else enjoyed their meal and didn’t get food poisoning for what it’s worth.

I frequent the McAlister’s off of NW Military and De Zavala often and I visited this location for the first time in years and WOW — whoever is managing this place needs to drop their job like a bad habit! Service is terrible. You order a soup and you don’t even get a spoon to eat it with — that’s just too much to ask. The bathrooms — OMG. I wanted to call the health department. And if you’re going to have bathrooms that look like that, choose a better color scheme than black and white. The tables look like the restaurant doesn’t own cleaning supplies. And the worst part was when I came in there were five employees just hanging out behind the counter having a ball with the restaurant/bathroom looking how they were looking. If management is reading this, if I ever come in and see this place looking how it was today I WILL report you to the health department. God knows what kind of bacterias you have growing and building on all the floors/surfaces of that restaurant and I’m not waiting to hear about someone getting food poisoning, listeria or worse from your negligence. If you’re going to eat here, I HIGHLY recommend eating off of to-go dishes and plasticware. My extensive background in restaurants has taught me that restaurants that don’t care about the(customer-facing) front of the house have HORRENDOUS back-of-the-houses because customers don’t see it so it’s not a priority to them.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat while in the area. The wait wasn’t bad but the booths weren’t super clean while we were there. The silverware was also dirty. My wife and daughter had to exchange theirs twice finally settling on plastic utensils. Once we got past that the food was great! The order was correct and employees were very nice. There are a lot of kids working there though. They were very playful but nice.

For a carry-out order of a roast beef sandwich a fruit cup and a salad(which should have been pre-made) there was a 30 minute wait time for the food to be ready. I could see the cooks scratching their the side of their head with a glove and going straight back to handling the food without changing it. Ick! Once the food arrived, It was mediocre at best. This place is definitely off my list for sure.

Basically a local take on Jason’s Deli– fresh made soups, salads, and sandwiches, with a few pastas and other entrees, in a deli-style setting with wallet-friendly prices. Most meals here are under $ 10 and service is walk-up, bus your own table. I’ve tried a few of the sandwiches but nothing memorable. They have one soup, chicken enchilada? chicken tortilla? not sure of the exact name, but it’s delicious and the staff immediately know which one you’re talking about. It’s perfect in any season, but especially when it’s cold out. I’m not the biggest fan of this location, as I really don’t like this particular plaza and find it hard to navigate, but it’s the most convenient one to me. From the other reviews, it sounds like service has taken a nosedive– order online through their website and pickup to go.

The was good and the delivery was fast enough. But the Tables not cleaned. And the staff not friendly The cashier said she would deliver our tea, as she did not have time at the time we place our order. She never did She ignored us when went back to get them. Someone else finally helped us. Lacking adequate cashiers.

Dirty floor and tables. Even my plate didn’t look that clean. Food was okay. If I’m gonna spend those prices I’d go to Jason’s deli. Not going back.

Let me start by saying one of my favorite things in the world to eat is on this menu, and I crave it all the time. Here’s the thing… I can’t ever get anyone to eat here with me because no one I know likes it. I never really have anything bad to say because I’m not a complainer, but today the place was a mess. Dirty, everywhere. The counter where I ordered was covered in liquids and tossed around papers, the place for lids and straws was gross, most of the tables were dirty, the floor was very dirty. I’d understand if they were packed but there were few customers. Also, my portions of food are never consistent and sometimes I am given the scraps of the veggies that are included in my order. I’d like more positive things to say about this place, but the only thing keeping me here is my taste buds.

First off let me say that I go to McAllisters quite often since it is close to my work. Other times they have been not so amazing where they forgot to add something to my plate or didn’t take something off. I usually just ignore it and don’t make a big fuss but today was just terrible. There was multiple employees behind the counter at 10:55 when I arrived but I didn’t get helped until almost ten minutes later although no one was in front of me ordering. The employees were just walking around. I order my salad finally and they take my name. I wait for almost 20 minutes for my salad. One employee asked me if I was waiting for a to go order and I said yes and my name. He then asks the kitchen if they have an order for me. It appears that they forgot about me. I then wait another few minutes and finally get my salad. I drive the 5 minutes to work and my salad is not cold at all. Not even cool. I’ll definitely not go back to that location and will let my co-workers know as well. It was unprofessional and disappointing.

So sad that this location got rid of the Tuesday family nights. We used to come here on a very regular basis and loved our family Tuesday night with free kids’ meals, coloring pages, crayons, balloons etc. I recently signed up on a San Antonio moms blog that listed all the free kids meal restaurants and this location is listed(which reminded me we hadn’t been here in awhile) — we were excited to go tonight… bummer that they’ve gotten so cheap. We walked out. The place used to be buzzing every Tuesday– totally empty tonight at 6:15pm. Sad: o(

What a nice find. The husband texted me this afternoon from work saying we had to try this place because a co-worker really liked it. I have to agree. The space is comfortable with a pretty extensive menu: hot and cold sandwiches, salads, loaded baked potatoes and pasta dishes. Tea, lemonade, coffee. Coffee is only $.99. Their ‘famous’ sweet tea is served in a quart glass(plastic). I asked for half sweet and half unsweetened; not a problem. This is some of the best iced tea I’ve had in a long time. The husband ordered the ‘Big Nasty’. A humongous open-faced sandwich piled with roast beef, two kinds of shredded cheese and brown gravy. Of course he ate it all. I had the McAlister’s club on wheat toast: turkey, ham and cheese, lettuce and tomato, with honey mustard. Very tasty. All sandwiches come with a pickle spear and choice of sides. We went with potato salad. You could have cole slaw or Mac and cheese. Creamy good potato salad with mayo and mustard, leaning a tad towards more mustard, which is OK in my potato salad book. We took home carrot cake and brownies. Both are sinful. Give them a try.

My boyfriend loves this place and was so excited to try it out in San Antonio. I ordered the spicy southwest sandwich but really it should be renamed to bland sandwich with corn. It was disgusting. Not spicy what so ever. My boyfriend however liked his food and when back to the front to order a plate of their chili nachos. While he was waiting, he overheard some words one employee told other, that was very very close(is) to sexual harassment. «You look like you just told a date rape drug hahaha» ect After hearing about that I was just disgusted. After waiting close to 10 minutes for damn to go nachos, some teenage girls employees were gossiping about the phone call they just got from a customer, describing«how odd and weird the caller was» I understand there are some interesting people out there but gossiping infront of other customers is just disrespectful. For myself I would go back to this specific restaurant, but I will find another in San Antonio that hourly isn’t as horrible as this one.

Great sandwiches! We typically order the club and veggie club along with their amazing strawberry lemonade. The restaurant is well maintained.

The service was fast because it was pretty empty. I got the½ sandwich and salad for 9 and change. I ordered the Cuban press panini. Don’t even bother getting that. It was pretty nasty. If you think it’s a real Cuban sandwich you better forget it. The only thing like a Cuban is the pickle. Most every other thing I ever ordered was very good.

The tea is delicious, I agree. However, I don’t understand how they rarely have a lot of customers dining in, yet the tables always have dishes from a diner that has left, the floors always need to be swept and mopped and I can almost always find a bucket of dirty water sitting out somewhere. The employees seem to be chillin’ somewhere instead of housekeeping. As for the food, it’s just ok. I won’t be upset if I never went back.

McAlister’s is one of my go-to places for soup & sandwiches. I have a couple of favorites here, but I tend to order the pick 2 special: the Big Nasty sandwich(because I love gravy) and broccoli cheese soup. Their broccoli cheese soup is one of the better versions I’ve had. Their French dip sandwich is not bad(I somehow like the broth dip at Arby’s better). I LOVE their sweet tea – they’re known for it!
