Great place, the ribs were nice and beefy which I made the mistake and ordered more than I can handle

Stopped in while in town. It was amazing! We got a pond of moist brisket, corn and beans.

First tried this one 18 years ago it was awesome then. Rudy’s never forget the customer. New start up’s today forget quickly. Always awesome food and great Customer service going that extra step.

Everyone should go to Rudy’s. Their cream of corn was phenomenal as was the peach cobbler. If you do get the peach cobbler, be sure to get a small vanilla ice cream and warm up the peach cobbler, it will make the biggest difference. The BBQ in my opinion was good but not the best I’ve had. I came here with a group of people and everyone else loved it. They most likely would give this place 5 stars. I would highly recommend this place for its rich history, unique ambiance, and super delicious peach cobbler.

May be the first location but sadly not the best. Quality of brisket was dry and cold and the chopped was flavorless. Employees less than enthusiastic to work there.

Just ate here today! I went with my husband and my eldest son who is visiting us for the holidays.
This place was recommended to me by our plumber who said the creamed corn was the best.
He was not kidding the creamed corn was fresh and tasted like no other creamed corn I have ever had in my life.
We drove up and the place was packed, that was a great sign letting us know the food must really be good. The building was nothing fancy. Just a red brick shanty with a gas station and store attached to it. You walk in like cafeteria style. The back wall is lined with cold beverages on ice. (Alcohol and non alcoholic drinks)
1. You place your side orders first (which consist of that creamed corn that is out of this world, potato salad, beans, and coleslaw. We order one of everything to try it out.
2. You move on down the line and order your meats (Proteins such is brisket, turkey, sausage, ribs, chicken) they even let you sample some before you chose. You can buy by the pound etc.
3. They have bread, onions and Jalapenos too.
4. They put everything on this big tray and give you large sheets of paper to eat your meal on.
5. You can sit down inside or eat outside where they have a fire pit to keep you warm.
I highly recommend this rare find. I will be trying other BBQ places in San Antonio, I hope they can compete with Rudy’s !

It was good for a chain place. I really liked the creamed corn most of all and the sweet tea.

Yes yes and more yes! First stop for my return to Texas is a good brisket along with a beer and this place has it. Grab the creamed corn and ask for the burnt ends along side the pickle and onions (cleanses the palette between bites) to get the complete experience. Heck… Come with friends so that each gets the different meats and sides to share.
Top it off with a beverage of choice and you’re good to go.

I completely understand why this location has 4.5 stars.
They do not have plates. Everything is served on wax paper and ready for sharing. All the food is ordered individually, which makes it slightly expensive when you continue adding. My friend and I were sent here on my last night in Texas since I was wanting BBQ. What we ordered:
–Pint Creamed Corn
–½ lb Brisket
–¼ lb Turkey
–2 Sausage Links
–Bread (half a bag of white bread — complimentary)
–Sauce (complimentary)
I’m normally not a fan of creamed corn but dang, it was delicious. The cream was slightly sweetened which went well with the corn. The brisket was smoked perfectly and had a great taste to it. When you add the sauce and use it to make a sandwich with the provided bread it makes it 10x better. The sausage was the same; they had a great cook to them and had a slight kick. I was most surprised about the turkey. Most times when I order smoked turkey it comes out dry. This was actually an add on to our order because they let us taste it as we were waiting. The turkey wasn’t over cooked at all, and was very juicy.
Top notch service as well! The staff were extremely helpful especially it being both our first times there and them closing in 15 minutes. We were offered samples of all the sides and they were delicious. Everyone there were friendly making it easy to enjoy the atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Rudy’s is a great choice for locals! I am in love with their sausage and cream corn! Can get a bit pricey if your bringing a lot of people. Every year we buy at least 2 book of frees and each book has 2 free Rudy’s dinners in there, which already really pays for itself. We always bring our out of town friends and they love it!
