Good service, good food. Your food is always prepared at the moment from scratch, and everything on the menu is pretty good. The waffle with eggs is really good and huge! Their prices are really good! No more than 10 dlls for most

We’ve been looking for a real diner, with many disappointments, and this has given us hope of finding good diner food in San Antonio. We arrived around 12:30p on a Wednesday. Five of the six booths were filled, but the counter seating was empty. Given the amount of interaction we saw between diners and the three women running the diner, it seemed most of the other patrons were regulars. Service was prompt and warm. The food appears to be made with some attention and care. Breakfast is served all day. One thing I found a bit different was there is no ala carte menu, which is often how I compose my breakfasts since I find most restaurants(diners especially) are carb and meat heavy in their breakfast plate options. You’ll find that here too. However, when I requested the regular omelet with vegetables in place of the meat options, our waitress was happy to accommodate me. The omelet arrived, to my happy surprise, with fried mushrooms, onions, and spinach. It was delicious especially with the offered homemade salsa. They are now open on Sundays, when they also serve chicken and waffles!

Went with high expectations was not disappointed. The wait staff was courteous and knowledgeable about product. Had WAFFLE with eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and coffee. The waffle was humongous and delicious. Best part whole thing was under $ 10.00. Will definitely go back

Pancake Joe’s was closed(Monday) so this was our second option in the area. Quaint little diner with maybe 7 tables with some counter seating. Two ladies were running the place… very nice people. I ordered the breakfast croissant with hash browns. It was pretty good and buttery. I wished the hash brown portion bigger. I think that because their plates are so big, it makes the portion seem a lot smaller. I don’t know… I just felt like there was something missing on the plate as you can see from my picture. My husband’s waffle looked big but a little too dense he said. It’s good pricing though. $ 16 for two entrees and two coffees. It feels like your mama cooking some breakfast for you right in the kitchen!

GREAT little diner with fresh food that is made to order! Staff is extremely courteous & attentive. When we walked in we were greeted with big smiles and warmth. Everyone seemed to know each other. Food was made to order and fresh. Highly suggest giving this place a try especially if you are standing in line at pancake joes and want exceptional food. We had croissant w/egg, cheese, sausage. Croissant was fresh and sandwich full of flavor. The sandwich was served w/the best tasting hash browns. Also tried the English muffin w/egg, cheese & ham and hash browns & shared a waffle w/whipped cream and blueberries. Again, great taste, made fresh. Beverages were served in cute mason jars and coffee was exceptional. Will definitely be back again. Our total w/tax was $ 13.00. WINWINWIN!!!

Been coming here off and on since they opened and it really good. Fresh cooked meals. Really fair prices. It doesn’t burn a hole in your wallet. Personable and friendly. Worth the money. Cooked fresh in front if you if you like to set at the counter. It’s small but cozy.

I like this place. It’s a true mom and pop kind of operation. Prices are good. Food is good. The coffee is decent, but not anything gourmet. I thought the waffles were pretty good. Eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy – all good.

Great Food, a Great place for a late Breakfast, the Waffle is Huge, the Bacon Cheeseburger is very Delicious. and they also have daily lunch specials. I like to say its a Micro diner, reminds me of an old school diner. I would recomend this place if your into breakfast and dont want to put up with a busy place like Jims or a Dennys, This is small place, but not just enough space for you and a few friends. So if your in the Deco District and want Breakfast or Brunch, You should try this place.

Found this place through Unilocal(which by the way close to never lets me down). For this people that have traveled east of the Mississippi River, the best way I can describe this place is similar to a Waffle House. The restaurant is pretty much a huge dining room, with a kitchen/counter in it. Personally, I love Waffle Houses and find Coffee Hut to be better. You can tell it’s family owned. I feel like I’m walking into grandma’s kitchen for breakfast. Given the counter and booths, I’m thinking the seating capacity can’t be more than 30 people. The staff is young, but on their game and family. Even though it was my first visit I felt like a regular. The food was perfect. The waffle was HUGE, crisp on the outside and center was fluffy with a delicious chew. Eggs were cooked without any brown spots or edges and the bacon was thick cut, crisp and meaty chew. Coffee was full flavored and fresh too. My g/f had the club sandwich which was hearty to say the least. She still couldn’t help herself from picking at my waffle. The décor is cool. Lot of random breakfast and kitchen related collectables line the walls and counter, which make the environment fun. Really looking forward to revisiting Coffee Hut again. **If you go, park on the right side of the restaurant. The left side is mostly packed with the customers from the Mexican restaurant next door.

The place is small but cozy. I ordered the egg, cheese and bacon croissant with hash browns. It was delicious! My big red was served in a small jar like glass. I tried some of my daughters waffle. Superb. Will definitely go back. Oh and service with a smile. A big plus.

Not a lot of coffee options for a ‘coffee hut’ but the food was awesome and so was the service. Will be back.

Found this place on Unilocal.Awesome diner. Great service. Breakfast is cooked to order. OMG the waffle is as big as your face! Everything was delicious. Waffle, french toast, hasbrowns, crispy bacon, eggs. Best breakfast we have had in a long time. Very Happy to have a fresh cooked breakfast instead of fastfood.

Have often eaten here — usually for a late breakfast. Like the friendliness of the staff, enjoy the intimacy of thevplace. Food is acceptable not great. They have had difficulty keeping a consistent cook. First one was great! Someone’s grandma who cooked like it.

Cool diner, better than expected. Must try it to believe. Don’t let the understated outside fool you. Step back in time and enjoy a down home meal. Good coffee and breakfast.

The city is filled with little places and hidden spots. And so often. Just so often if you are lucky and you don’t blink your eyes you will find that diamond in the rough. Enter The Coffee Hut.
Firstly, it looks like it was once some taco spot converted in to a little restaurant. It is real small. There is parking but not to may spaces. The décor is a bit rustic. Judging by the interior it has seen better days. I must admit though I have been guilty of judging a business by it’s cover only to be humbled by my own biases. In this case I ate my own words.(along with some good food)
Inside there is a counter-top with some stool seating. There are booths also that can probably accommodate like four couples. It is intimate and cozy. Above all it has this divey diner kinda feel to it, which I am immediately drawn to. For example there was a cake housed in glass, invoking the whole Mel’s Diner Vibe. It has a quiet charm. And yet you can hear some conversation and chatter over coffee throughout the place.
No sooner did I sit down did the server come to take my order. She was ultra friendly and very professional. I surveyed their menu which offered waffles, pancakes, sandwiches, salads and daily specials. They have a draw board in marker that has their daily specials. I decided on the pancakes special which comes with eggs, bacon and hash browns. But here is the catch with this. Since it is so small and it is in essence like a diner, your food will actually be cooked rather than be put in some microwave to be nuked. Please be patient. This is not McDonald’s nor IHOP where your food is popped out but rather it is cooked on a grill right next to you. In the meantime whilst waiting for my food the server was quite attentive and was more than willing to fill my cup with more joe. When my plate arrived I was surprised at the sheer volume of the portion. It was quite healthy needless to say. The eggs were good. The hash browns were crispy. The bacon were nice and crunchy. And at $ 5.99, it is a pretty good deal! I tipped my fork to the mo-hawked chef, all and all not a bad job. And I lifted my cup of coffee, an excellent job well done! Yes, there are many experiences in the city both big and small but only if you take the time to seek them out. The Coffee Hut is one of those. It has a diner feel without the big cost of one. It is small, cozy and intimate. The food is good and won’t kill your wallet. The service is amazing! Perfect place to take a friend, your amor or just go yourself. I wish they would utilize the social media more through facebook or twitter, but I think this place is content in being that dive along the beaten path. So if you are in the Deco District I say go check this place out. Makes me feel like saying, «Mel, Kiss my grits!» God, I’m really showing my age!!!
(I give this place 4 and a half stars.)

I wish I could only say really sweet things about this place. The whole place looked like a scene from s movie, it had the perfect diner feel. The food was pretty well prices as well. The only thing was that I ordered the number 2 waffle plate with eggs, bacon, and hash brown and my friend ordered the pancake plate with 2 pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hash browns and both were $ 5.99 each. They tasted really good and were got when they came out, but it took about an hour! It wasn’t even that busy! The waitress was sweet and apologized for the wait but 1 hour? Really? I might go back and give it another try. Maybe they were just short hand on workers.
