Wow, wow, wow, wow! I am astonished by how delicious the food is from this truck! Parked right outside of The Brooklynite, I wanted food alongside my cocktail. The Akaushi Beef Sliders are THE best sliders I have hands down, ever had! Alongside, caramelized onions, bleu cheese, lettuce, and tomato, I was highly impressed of the flavor that was exploding through every bite! The Duck Fat fries are also delicious(especially when you want something salty after drinking alcohol). They taste great alone, or alongside ketchup or mayo.(Free order of fries when you Unilocalies check in! — Subject to change). Lastly, their grilled cheese and bacon is also! Words alone cannot give enough credit for how delicious the food is from this truck… so you may as well have to check it out for yourself!

Dam good fries. The sliders smelled amazing when they brought them to the bar. I’m craving them again. I’m really wanting to try the chicken and waffles next time.

AREYOUKIDDINGME?! Look, if you’re going to operate a MOBILE business, for the love of God, please put out a schedule or post a legitimate phone number on your social media pages or answer questions posted to your social media page! I have been trying for 3 weeks to track these clowns down to no avail. You look at their FB page and it has a map of their location(downtown) and an opening time(5PM) but do you think they’re actually there? NO! Very unprofessional! Very inexcusable! Very amateurish!

Saw the sign claiming«best food truck in SA» from the SA Current and decided this place was the most promising option at the Maverick Music Fest. They describe themselves as «eclectic» but the only items on the menu were 3 varieties of sliders(two beef, one veggie) and fries with various toppings(bacon, cheddar, Gorgonzola or an egg). Not eclectic at all if you ask me. Not even a little bit. Stood in a short line(maybe 4 people in front of me) for ~20min. Ordered the veggie sliders and duck fat fries with an egg. After paying was informed they were out of eggs. Switched to cheddar. Later informed they are also out of cheddar. Switched to Gorgonzola. $ 9 for sliders + $ 5 for fries + $ 2 for egg. Total $ 16 and some change. Waited another ~20min for food. At least 40 total minutes of waiting! Ridiculously long time for some sliders and fries. Sliders were really good, which is why this place gets two stars instead of one. A little on the small side though. Probably not $ 9 worth of food. Fries were flat-out gross with gorgonzola. I like Gorgonzola but this was just way too much. Would not recommend this place if you are in any kind of hurry. If you’re searching for the best truck in San Antonio, look elsewhere. This is not it.

I have been on a huge duck binge lately and anything with duck or duck fat has caught my eyes. As I was leaving The Brooklynite those infamous late night munchies were kicking in. Luckily love was in the air on Valentine’s Day because I got struck by cupid and fell hard for their duck fat fries. My mouth is drooling right now wishing I had a delicious tray of them right now. These are not your healthy fries nor should fries ever be in my opinion. My eyes have been opened to a whole new world and I will now have to stalk Say She Ate as a groupie and track them around town because everyone has to try their food. The turnaround time was very quick and they even brought the order out to me. I’m a huge sucker for customer service and always appreciate the smaller things. I could rave on and on about their duck fat fries but man everyone needs to try their food offerings. I also had one of their other offerings but at this point I was in food porn heaven and sadly forgot the exact name about it. All I know is that I have now signed my life away to this food truck and will definitely be following them so I can have more of their offerings. As I’m typing this up right now I’m looking for my card so I can buy this Unilocal deal because I know I’ll be coming back to them sooner than later.

I love Say She Ate so much they catered my wedding. Seriously a great Truck. Brandon is a great chef and listener. He gave us everything we wanted and more with our wedding. The stuffed dates are incredible. And the sliders. Oh gosh, I’m getting hungry all over again. Do yourself a favor and just make it a goal to try everything.

I got three words that will bring some flavor to your ear, Duck Fat Fries! Yes, I did just make a 90’s hip hop reference, deal with it. Duck Fat Fries are exactly what they sound like French Fries cooked in duck fat. Remember back in the day when McDonalds used to cook their fries in beef fat, then they switched to vegetable oil, and ruined fries for America? Well Say She Ate is bringing Sexy Back!(and cardiac arrest) There is just something special about freshly cut potato’s fried in duck fat, the flavor knob is turned up to eleven,(yes I like to make references) if you will. They are served with two dipping sauces one being fresh ketchup and the other an aioli. I would have to say that I like the aioli better, but the ketchup was good too, if you know me, you know that that hurt me to type out, because I HATE ketchup, like I don’t even like it at the table. But I tried this one and it was okay, which probably means it’s really good! The aioli is on point to! Side note this truck inspired me to start cooking with duck fat. Ever had a grilled cheese with the bread toasted with duck fat instead of butter? If you have, you know you can’t go back to butter. Thanks a lot Say She Ate, duck fat is expensive! I couldn’t even tell you what else they serve, when I checked in on Unilocal it said I got free Duck Fat Fries, and I just wanted a snack so that what I got. I promise to buy something next time fellas! I used to see this truck at Stay Golden Social House but it’s been awhile, I guess I’ll have to look for them on twitter to see where they went.

After we ordered, we were told it would take 10 minutes to prepare a grilled cheese sandwich, sliders and fries. This was a little longer than we expected but we sat down and waited. After 25 minutes(!!), we received our food. The guy said«sorry about the wait.» They seemed very nice, but waiting 25 minutes for a food truck is unreasonable.

First, if I had read the manager/owner’s response to user Joey P(below) before going, it would have turned me off from ever even considering this place. As a restaurant owner, I would expect better customer service and you should delete that embarrassing response to a review. The defensiveness of your tone establishes how little you care about your clientele that isn’t completely stunned by your mediocre product. The truck was supposed to start serving at 9pm and at 9:15, they delayed service because they hadn’t charged their iPad to take orders. We didn’t get our food(which came one item at a time) until 9:40pm. Everyone was pretty annoyed that it took so long to get opened and running and that items were coming out one at a time. Being made to order is a good policy to have the freshest product, but if everyone has to sit around for their friends to get their food, it doesn’t work. The menu was completely unreadable in tiny, scribbly print and not everything had a price listed. No trashcans in sight. As another Unilocaler pointed out, the workers were handling cash and also handling food. Gross. The food was fine. The duck fat fries were good, nothing special. Sliders were GREAT, as other reviewers have said. Barnyard sandwich was almost inedible. Really rock hard, not enough cheese. You can list all the high-end ingredients in it, but if they’re not detectable in the sandwich, it is essentially an $ 8 piece of toast. But dang, dare I say anything negative without the manager attacking me on here? Telling customers«if you had told us at the time, we would have done something about it» is not a valid response when the workers in the truck avoid eye contact and there’s a line of people waiting since you’re an HOUR behind schedule on opening.

**ADDENDUM!!** Before I receive ANOTHER late-night(seemingly drunken since it was sent at 1AM) snarky retort from Brandon, the person(poorly) representing Say*She*Ate, allow me to add my two cents. In the service industry(I even know this and it’s been YEARS since I worked in the food service industry) you only get ONE shot to fully satisfy the customer. You, I am sure, must be well aware of the stigma associated with returning food, i.e. it’s going to get spit in, dropped on the floor, etc. As the CUSTOMER, I should not be held liable for your shortcomings. In both instances, I waited well over 20 minutes to receive my order. I do not have the time nor am I even required to wait another 20 minutes just so my order can be corrected when it should have been on point the first time. Yes, you read that correctly, I gave your food truck TWO separate chances before«writing a review and meddling in your livelihood.» Whatever the f*ck that means… Furthermore, I am to the point where I am tired of business owners who have the gall to personally attack a customer rather than utilize that experience as an opportunity to improve for the future. You obviously believe very strongly that you are the #1 food truck in SA(to which I strongly disagree, even more so now) but that’s how you slip down the totem pole, by being too proud and complacent with your mediocre product. I am not going to revise my review in any way because I stand behind all of my assertions, plus I can tell you took my comments way too personally because a 3-star review on Unilocal is still considered«A-OK» and I did balance the negative points with positive notes. **ENDOFRANT** Sa·ti·ate: satisfied to the full. Pretty bold and confident assertion there, Say*She*Ate. But does your food live up to the expectations the name implies? Hardly. «Duck fat fries» — nothing to write home about, just limp, over-salted potatoes that were reminiscent of Wing Stop fries. Perhaps the only save was the mayo/ketchup combo(which I’m assuming was kewpie mayo?) that came along with the fries. The bleu cheese they used in their Akaushi beef sliders tasted horrendous. Their new name should be «mini» beef sliders because those bad boys were tiny AF! Once, I split the Nutella sandwich with my other half. While the ingredients(banana, Nutella, marshmallow) were a really great combination, the bread they chose was all old and HARD as a ROCK. I think I may have chipped a tooth just trying to bite that thing. Service was OK, nothing extraordinary but certainly not bad. Prices are reasonable and they do allow you the opportunity to try out their fries for free via a Unilocal check-in promotion. I don’t agree that they are the #1 food truck in SA, in my opinion I feel like there’s way better out there.

They came to our office on Thursday during Food truck day. Initially i was hesitant since i couldn’t find anything vegetarian. Well, there it was — i found a sandwich with grilled banana nutella and marshmallows… OMG it was so awesome !!. It’s more like a dessert than a sandwich.

I definitely feel satiated after eating at Say She Ate. Just wow. My husband and I have been dying to try this Food Truck for quite some time. In fact; this is our first food truck experience. We had been following them on Twitter and saw they were going to be at a grand opening for a local store. To be honest; we were not a bit interested in the local store; but WERE interested in this truck. The food is AH-MAZING. Amazing. All of those guys are hard working and genuinely nice. The Akaushi Beef Sliders changed our lives. The Duck Fat Fries? Forget about it. And then I had this Banana/Marshmallow/Nutella sandwich that was to die for. We are definite fans and WILL be back. I wish they had their own standalone location; because we would definitely be there on a regular basis. BRAVOGUYS! KEEPUPTHEGREATWORK!!! We love you for sure!

So I ate here for the first time yesterday. As the truck was getting set up, they pulled some chairs out for people to sit, then they turned on the music. I have never seen a food truck with a couple of tweeters and a big subwoofer so I was already impressed, then they had to go and start playing old school hip hop so I was fully invested at that point. As the host took my order he was friendly and outgoing, and encouraged me to try the sliders(I was undecided between the duck fries and the sliders). A few minutes later the food came out and I was on my way. The sliders were ridiculously good. Pretty sure there was a flavor explosion in my mouth, and my tongue was river dancing. The French fries that accompanied the sliders were good as well. They were salted and dusted with… well I don’t know what but I know I enjoyed them. The portions were small. Like… the first thing I thought when I got the plate was«that’s it»? The meal came with two sliders and fries… but the sliders were a little larger than the size of a silver dollar(I’m trying to find my silver dollar just to make sure I’m not over exaggerating). Like I said, the food was delicious but for the price of the meal and the 3 dollar tip I included… I just feel there should have been more. After I ate I had to make a sandwich. The portions were that small. Perhaps I should have ordered something else. I would recommend giving this truck a whirl because again the food was great. Just don’t expect anything to fill you up and know you are going to be paying a little more than you should. I can’t find my silver dollar.

Their duck fat fries is what makes this place. I’ve never had my french fries fried in duck fat before, but I’m a believer! Incredible! The cheesy fries are over the top. They’re covered in cheddar on one side, bleu cheese on the other. The bleu cheese is a bit much, as the taste is simply overwhelming. But they’re still quite scrumptious. I love the fact that they’re at all the cool events, and they serve up the food quickly with a smile! I always seek them out at the food truck events, as they’re always solid.

I read great stuff about this place and maybe I’ll change my review in the future, but for now, Say She Ate deserves the A-OK rating. I’ll tell you why. We recently went to the third Brewsday event in January that was Mardi Gras themed. There was free Abiza beer and sold Abiza beer for $ 3. Abiza is good beer. Really good, warm you from the insides out beer. So after we had our fill of beer, we mozied on over to the food trucks and proceed to purchase something from every truck. Say She Ate was the most expensive, so I decided to try to other two first and see how that went. The other trucks were really great, but I couldn’t leave without trying Say She Ate. First things first, the nice bearded guy informed me of the 15 – 20 minute wait. Ok, my little burger sliders probably take awhile. Got it. Ok, my fries fried in duck fat will take awhile. Got it. I ordered, mozied on around and around for awhile. I see two other guys who were w/Say She Ate walking in and out of the truck chugging beers. And I’m thinking is bearded guy the only one working here? These guys must be on break! Then I see the other guys put their aprons and hats on and get to work. I wondered maybe that is why the food was taking so long… So long as my food was hot, those guys can take as many breaks as they want, especially when there’s free beer involved. I GETIT! BUT… my fries were cold… Whilst trying to spread around the non-melted cheese on my fries, I find all these plastic shards of plastic stuff towards the bottom… At this point, I had eaten my delicious sliders and most of the fries and what good would it have done to tell the guy who I saw drinking the beer anything? After all the waiting, it just wasn’t worth the hassle. Sorry guys, but the fries ruined my experience.

As always Say She Ate was incredibly delicious! After torturing my husband to go stalk them out last weekend at the Brooklynite he finally obliged. I seriously was having a Duck Fat Fry deficiency(it is so a thing). Quickly ordered the usual Akashi Sliders for myself and Duck Fat Fries to share. My husband finally decided on the OG sliders. After devouring his sliders which looked amazing(I wouldn’t know once I asked for a taste they were all gone) and eating more than his share of the fries he started to eye my sliders. I really need to pick up my eating speed lol. Of course that was not happening. Needleless to say I have turned him into a stalker of sorts for Say She Ate’s delectable food as well. BTW Say She Ate added a couple more Unilocal deals up. Snatch them up while you can!

Say She Ate was delicious! There was a good amount of confusion in finding them– the tweet said that they’d be at 1221 Broadway, but not that they would be tucked away into a hidden corner of the complex. We managed to find them, though, after a long search. When we arrived, they let us know that they needed about 20 minutes to be up and running, but brought out some complimentary mimosas while we waited. They are running an awesome $ 5 for $ 10 Unilocal deal, so we purchased that and ordered one of everything to try out. We got the Akaushi Sliders, Duck Fat Fries, Havarti Bacon Grilled Cheese, and Broiled Figs with Balsamic Strawberries and Greek Yogurt. The sliders and figs were ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! The other two items were tasty, but the sliders and salad were amazing.

Wednesday night at the Revolution Room on Broadway. Set up a reminder on your calender, write it on your arm or on your significant others forehead. Do whatever it takes to remember and be there and be there hungry. The Akaushi Sliders and their Duck Fat Fries are both fantastic. They make you want more. The pile of fries is healthy so you might want to share those. The sliders are nice and big too with an excellent beef to bun ratio. Nice little ooze too. You will not regret trying this truck.

Oh man, this truck puts me in a difficult spot. Before Say.She.Ate came along, I professed my undying, unwaivering devotion to Cullum’s Attaboy burgers. Now, I just don’t know anymore. Say.She.Ate settles at the Revolution Room for strEAT food Wednesdays and roams around Rackspace otherwise. They are mostly known for their Akaushi Sliders and their Duck Fat Fries and were voted Best Food Truck 2012. Now all those words sure do look pretty but these sliders and fries back it up with a delicious one-two punch! The Akaushi beef really shines in these burger bites and they are topped with sweet carmalized onions and a dash of Frank’s Red Hot. I’m usually not a fan of Frank’s but decided if the Chef put it in there, there must be a reason. The reason is, the Chef is a freakin genius. On to the wonder of the Duck Fat Fries. Now I’m not super educated in foodie-ism, so I didn’t really think I’d taste the difference between potatoes fried in Duck Fat and potatoes fried in whatever McD’s uses. OMG. The flavor was deep and savory! Add the homemade Serrano Ketchup and these are what fries should always be. Choosing a favorite here is flat-out impossible so for you good people, I will continue to gorge myself on them until a clear winner is determined. Or until my arteries clog. Whichever comes first.
