Great little hole in the wall. All you want in a dive bar. Square bar, juke box, pool tables, great atmosphere. If you like good dive bars, this is the place for you. And if you go during happy hour on Tuesday(when I went), the bartender is this hot, beautiful, sexy, witty woman named Maryel(spell?). She alone is worth a visit.

I knew I would like this bar the moment I walked in. The vintage paintings of George Bush Sr and Robert Downey Jr were the first things that caught my eye. They were finger paintings but artfully done. The décor was on point. Chairs by Copenhagen, lighting by Tiffany’s, I was hit by a wave of emotion and memories of the Louvre in Paris. I could almost smell the freshly baked bread which later turned out to be popcorn to my surprise. At one point a local patron by the name of Cuz kindly offered to sell me a used car radio. I was tantalized yet rejected his offer because my vehicle was already properly equipped. I drank a few more delicious beverages and headed out in search of some grub. Sadly my window was broken and my radio was missing and looked similar to the one Cuz had offered me but I can’t be sure. Drinks were good though.

I was in there and watched a drunk cop that they use as their security mishandle an overserved customer. As i was discussing this with my friend, the bartender(ALLY) told me to shut up and i didnt see anything. She then refused to serve me any more drinks. I believe she was covering for her drunk cop friend. I dont know if he is active police but if he is, i took pictures of him taking shots then resume working. Even if he isnt active police the implications of working as bar staff drunk is a serious offense. Even way i will be following up with san antonio internal investigations. I have liked this bar but this disgusts me

well, it was just okay. nothing spectacular but it wasn’t a disappointment either. I met with a blind date here last week. We were the only two people there for a great majority of the time. There was some rowdy people there at first but they left. It was nice to be able to hear each other’s conversation. The bartender was nice and apologized for being dead. There was no need for that. All in all, not too bad of a place if your just looking for a casual place to meet a friend and grab a beer or two.

This little dive bar is kinda awesome. Stopped in here one night for a happy hour after work. It happened to be Fat Tuesday and they had a special running, $ 3 for Hurricanes. Yeah, $ 3.00, and they were pretty darn good too. The bar has a beach(ish) type theme to it. Surfboards, a giant 3D Capt Morgan, Pictures of Jimmy Buffet etc… It wasn’t very busy, maybe 3 or 4 others in there. I guess it gets busier later in the day. Overall it was a fun little dive. I will go back when I am in the area.

Dive bars have a soft spot in my heart and by the number of regulars at last night’s 19th anniversary party Smitty’s Pub is in the hearts of others as well. Offering billiards, darts and the like. Lots of TV’s showing the latest sporting events. Smitty’s is gonna be added to the rotation of affordable HH locations. The patio is teeny but that’s expected for a bar in a strip club. The bathroom was clean, the drinks strong and the clientele… eccentric and ecclectic. My two favorite kinds of people! Medical Center peeps, I recommend this place for a quick after work boozey adventure.

So tonight was the second visit to «smitty’s pub»… can’t say it was better than the first visit unfortunately… I am an S.A. native– and I’ve never seen as big of a joke as this bar… They didn’t even know what was in a «White Russian»… The dude apparently doesn’t abide by this shitty bar… On my way out some dude tried to start a fight with me, and slapped me.. .. My mother has slapped me, my grandmother has slapped me.. .. I’ve never been«slapped» before as a demonstration of toughness.. . The ‘regulars’(lightweights with/in puking distance) tried to ‘warn me’.. . of Nothing… If you want to go to a shittty dive bar with dirty taps and lame specials… go here!

Stopped in here today right at 4pm with my girlfriend on our way back from visiting a relative. Got a Budweiser @ $ 2.00 so not bad on the beer prices. I’m sure it was happy hour but still couldn’t have been much more afterwards. Bartender was exceptionally friendly and quick. There was about 12 patrons in the bar, some seemed to be regulars and some seemed to just be stopping in after work for a drink. 2 pool tables, 4 dart boards, jukebox and bar top electronic games for entertainment. Booth style seating, seats at the bar, hi-tables, as well as a fenced in area under the eaves with a couple of picnic tables for the smokers which I thought was pretty cool. The bar has a «Beachy» theme to it, hell a cat even walked into the bar and chilled out beneath a hi-top table. You can’t get much more bar than this. Overall, this is going to be my new go-to bar to play pool/darts and drink some decently priced drinks.

This is a pretty standard little dive. It was smoked filled and poorly lit. It is well hidden in a shady neighborhood so you better make sure you lock your car. They had a giant cooler filled with craw fish but I don’t know who in their right mind would eat it. I guess it would be a great place if it were within stumbling distance from your house.

Smittys become the last stop on our Sunday-funday debauchery. It has a dive bar feel as you would expect but at the same time it didn’t. It’s kinda weird. The bartender was a little slow but to her credit it was pretty busy for a Sunday night. The bar was in a dicey neighborhood but what else would you expect from a dive bar. Overall, it was a fun night there or maybe by this point I was feelin good haha.

We call this place by another name that you can probably guess. And for good reason: Last time we were here, the grumpy bartender had problems getting our tab right and closing us out, after we had waited a while to even get his attention. If you’re going to hire cranky bar staff, you don’t really care about your place. There are plenty of young, thirsty bartenders jockeying for positions everywhere. Besides that, there’s nothing to differentiate this dive: It’s tucked in a shady are on Gardendale. There’s lots of smoke, darts and beer by the pitcher. Meh.
