The Bright Shawl

My sisters threw me an elegant baby shower for about 25 people at the Bright Shawl this summer and it was fantastic. My sisters both live out of town, so we depended a lot on Steven and the staff to make the day come together. We had a meeting before the event to discuss the menu, timeline, how we wanted the room laid out, etc. The attention to detail was wonderful and everything we discussed was done just right on the day of. The food was great and the staff was fabulous. One thing that impressed me was that the servers kept an eye out for our activities and were one step ahead of us at all times. We had wanted dessert to be served after opening presents. Fernando kept an eye out on how many presents were left and brought in the trays of crunch cake at the perfect time without us having to ask. I would not hesitate to recommend The Bright Shawl and their staff for any event.
Also, the Bright Shawl is owned and operated by the Junior League of San Antonio, so it’s nice to support area non-​profits with your events or lunch.

Great food in a very charming venue. An old house converted into a lovely restaurant. Atmosphere is inviting, warm and soothing. Service is great too. Excellent for a ladies lunch.

I had a lovely lunch at The Bright Shawl today. The pleasant tea room is flooded with natural light coming from the courtyard, and I enjoy the art collections (generally everything is for sale) that rotate through the space. The menu is simple but varied with a wide assortment of sandwiches and salads, along with a buffet option. I loved the little spicy cheddar crackers in the bread basket. The buffet is ever-​changing – the enchiladas suizas, veggies, rice and salad selection today were fresh and well-​presented. Be friends with The Bright Shawl on Facebook, and you can get updates on the daily buffet selection. JLSA members get a nice discount – make sure to show your membership card when you check out. The Bright Shawl is an oasis in the hustle & bustle of downtown lunch options.

I love this venue!
It’s a great place for a ladies lunch, an anniversary dinner or even a wedding. The building is great and well kept and there is plenty of parking. The food is really good and the service is even better. I’ve been here for more events than I can count. Each one has had its own personality and I’ve always been impressed.

This quaint little place is in a beautiful historic building. The décor is antique and classy. It is a little run down and the chairs don’t match, but in a cute way. The food is fantastic and serving staff is professional and timely. I have eaten here several times. Today was homemade meatloaf with veggies and the most delicious tres leche’ cake.
This would be the PERFECT place to have a small wedding reception, bridal/​engagement party or baby shower. This reminds me of the place my grandmother took us for tea on Sundays with our little white gloves. What a great place to create memories…
