If you are over 30 this may not be the place for you. I went there with a friend and we watched the show unfold. On Saturdays women get in free until 11. So we were the only two guys in the club until 11:30. Weird but nice to look around. This is a truly an «urban» club. That means lots of black people with 8 – 10 Hispanics and 1 white person who did not work there. The music was the hard rap, which was OK, but they would only play a song for 30 seconds and skip to the next. Overall it was a nice place with women in too tight clothes until the traditional drunk fight and police intervention showed up at closing. They do not serve food but there is a food camper selling fried food outside and they let you bring the food into the club.

I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to like The Studio… but I can’t. I was here this past Friday for the second time and I just don’t like the place. The cover charge is way to much for the atmosphere. I went once before on a Saturday night, it was $ 10. I understood this last time b/c Genuwine was there.$ 20. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. I was slightly disturbed at the«behavior» of the crowd. They pushed and stepped all over people. Not to mention, this place smells like a tobacco factory. Everyone was walking around smoking«something» and they had no problems blowing it in your face or on you. I’ve never seen guys push and be rude to women just to see an old R&B singer perform. UGH! *Warning to my weave wearing sisters… don’t go in this place with a new do* You’re better off wearing a wig so you can toss that joker in the trash on your way to the car! Like I said, I really want to like this place, but when I left out of there I smelled like I was on fire. If it helps, I heard it’s better where there’s a jazz set. Highlight of the night: Buying a 4 piece wing meal off of the truck outside in the parking lot. It was really good chicken!

Jesus! After finding out that there was later a shooting and a stabbing at this club… on the night I was there… You get the one«NEVERAGAIN» star. Funny because when we left Chachos later that night after going to Plan B, the street was blocked off with cop cars. We joked, «Haha, look the cops are at the other club.» Glad we were out of there.

Went to The Studio this past weekend while in town for Thanksgiving. We were celebrating my sister’s friend’s birthday and were in a group of 4. Showed up around 10:30 p.m. and the place was packed, however, doable. The Studio is kind of small for a club but it features a dance floor in the middle with a stage up front. Booths and tables are on the sides and near the stage. Surprisingly the place has three bars; a large one towards the back and two smaller ones on the right and left. It was a Friday and I guess that’s when they feature special guest performers. Maybe that’s why they had the nerve to charge a $ 15 cover. This night they had Christopher Williams from the New Jack Swing era who put on a great 30 minute set. Studio plays mostly Old School R&B with a few new Hip Hop songs thrown into the mix. Because of this your crowd will average in the 30’s. Don’t be surprised if you see some men/women in their 50’s in there too lol. Because it’s a 30 and up crowd, there’s very little drama and you don’t have to worry about a bunch of immature guys trying to pick you up ladies. Unfortunately, I’m still in my mid-20’s and can only enjoy Old School jams in 20 minute rotations, not continuously. In all honesty I was ready to go after 2 hours, but was stuck watching my sister’s friend get wasted and dance with the ugliest guy I’ve seen in my life lol. But despite my demographic I can tell it’s a nice spot in San Antonio for live acts and Old School Jams with a respectable crowd. Oh yeah, drinks are insanely cheap($ 4 for wine and $ 6 for most cocktails) but then again I live in Atlanta where the average drink is $ 10. So for that, Studio gets another star lol
