Upon reading about Wurzbach Ice House, I was excited to come and enjoy the cheap happy hour. The most positive thing is the cheap drinks. The bouncer was extremely rude on multiple occasions and wanted to argue that my license was expired when it said that was when it was issued. He got more rude when he realized he was wrong. The wait staff was fairly efficient given how busy it was. Don’t use the jukebox. If they don’t like your song, they skip it and are unapologetic about it. That was interaction two was a rude employee. It’s probably best to avoid this establishment. There’s no reason to feel stressed when you just want to kick back.

I always end up here at the end of the night on the weekends no matter what. I love it.

This is a great place to come chill and have drinks with friends and play ping pong or pool. Drinks are cheap compared to other bars and the staff is sweet.

Did not like anything about this spot besides their chumoy shot. If you like biker bars, this place is for you. This is just not my scene. Pretty shabby and dirty inside. The music selection also sucks. Will not return.

Went here since staying at a local motel and staff at hotel recommended it. Plenty of parking, friendly staff and great service. It is an indoor and outdoor place so smokers have an area. If you want a beer or drink in a nice ice house you gotta try this place.

This place to be my favorite spot because of the prices but lately it has just gone downhill! The service has been horrible the female bartender literally snapped at my friend after we had been ignored for over 10 minutes! I will not be returning and tell all of my friends to skip it too

Wait staff was unprofessional and couldn’t keep track of their tabs. The waiter I had tried charging me for a drink when I didn’t even have a tab. He then continued to argue with me. I won’t be going back again.

Trying a new format for my reviews, more like structured notes. Noted categories will be based on hopefully useful elements of various types of business models. This one is for an icehouse style bar. Floor plan: great layout, wrap-around patio, gaming area, and centralized bar. Facility upkeep: sanitary, tidy and well maintained. Service: varies depending on how busy they are, at times you could wait a bit before getting a drink, but not as bad as other popular bars and the staff is always friendly. Food: reasonably priced and well portioned selections, never had any issues with wait time or incorrect orders. Environment: casual atmosphere, fun crowd, well-run security team. Overall: a winning modernized implementation of the classical Texas icehouse model, worth checking out!

Been coming here since it first opened. I really like the atmosphere and the specials they have. If you plan on coming during the weekend, make sure you get here early. Parking is a mess too, the parking lot is so small that my friends and I have ended up parking nearby the Texas med clinic just to stop by for a drink. I’ve came here before on a weekday and it’s not as bad as it is on the weekends. It’s great to watch football and Spurs games but again, get there early as it does get crowded. Make sure to ask for Lucas on the rim, it’s amazing. I’ve had their chamoy shots before and they are amazing but killer! Service is ok depending on the time you go. We’ve waited sometimes for over 10 minutes just to order a drink! Perfect for UTSA students and UTSA games. Definitely will keep coming back.

So disappointed by the food today. We came in to watch a non-Texas college football team, and the staff clearly knew it. We came Saturday afternoon when there was still plenty of space at the bar for seating. We ordered loaded tots to complement our draft beers. To our dismay, it took more than 20 minutes to get our order. Tots were cold, cheese was dry. Thank goodness for one good bartender.

So my husband and I were ready to go out when our plans were cancelled, so we searched high and low for some happy hour deals on a Thursday evening. Sadly, there is no reliable system for doing so in San Antonio(and if there is, PLEASE let me know!). We found Wurzbach Ice House’s website and happy hour prices, so we thought, why not? Let’s try something new. Once we arrived, we were a little weirded out by the fierce looking bouncers(two of them!) at 6:30 p.m. But whatever, I’m glad they’re keeping us safe. The vibe was a little college-y as well, with super loud pumping music, but I think I’m just getting old. There were plenty of seats available, although the bar was full. We were confused if there was table service or not, but sure enough… there was! Our waiter, bless his heart, was super friendly but super unaware of current specials. Apparently the website has it completely wrong, I mean, in no way was it what he offered us. He told us it was dollar off pints(or something) but then after delivering our beers stated that he was actually wrong and there were no specials until 8:00. We ended up paying $ 6 for a Busted Sandal pint, and I think I would’ve rather gone straight to Busted Sandal because I enjoy that place so damn much and it’s cheaper. But whatever. At 8 we did get some cheap domestics, so that evened things out. If you wanted a place to drink all night without paying a billion dollars, this would be a good option. Miller Lite, Bud Light, and Coors Light were all like $ 2. In the end I was happy with my beer: it was cold, delicious, and they had plenty on tap. Just don’t expect very good specials or for the website to be correct. We didn’t try the food, so who knows, but I have been craving cheese fries since seeing them on the menu here. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Worst bouncer ever. Didn’t let us in because I had too much to drink. When was one beer too much! Don’t waste your time and money at this place.

Approaching this place there are cigarette butts all along the fence and trash. NOT appealing. When entering there is loud hip hop music abd it smells like a soggy bar rag. Didn’t bother staying. Very disappointing!

By far one of the worst places in San Antonio. It’s full of immature people and drunken idiots. The bar service is god awful. I’ve been to this place a few times and I’ve straight up just left after waiting 20 minutes for my bottled beer. I will never come back to this shit hole.

The insane $ 2 – 2.50 happy hour prices are on par with most SA locations like this, but what sets Wurz apart is the unrivaled and impressively diverse beer selection. From Maui Brewing Company to Euro imports to local craft brews from Oregon, California, and of course, from all across the Lone Start State makes it hard to turn this place down. Unless you only drink Bid Light. and if that’s cool with you, you probably should stop reading now. The staff is efficient, multi-talented(their chef for one Sunday quit unexpectedly and the head bartender still crushed all food orders himself, minus a few of the more complicated ones, ALL while managing a packed bar during the NBA finals), and friendly as heck. The ping ping and arcade are a blast(especially when physical activity OUTSIDE is impossible day OR night… yay S-A! Go Summer! uuuggg).

Very rude staff, does not respect long time costumers at all. The staff are confused about outside orders after the kitchen is closed

This bar is way under staffed, takes forever to get a drink. Crowd is very young and immature. Ping pong table? Really? Manager doesn’t understand the concept customer is always right

Great place for happy hour or to catch a game on tv. Great bartenders and staff, good drink specials and clean facilities. It’s not the fanciest of places but it’s a cool little hang out. If the weather is good you can go out to the deck and play Jenga which is always fun. They also have a full menu. Again nothing fancy but if you’re hungry they do have some stuff to snack on. Now don’t expect 5 star food at a bar though. I usually just get chips and dip to snack on while throwing a couple back. Helps to not drink on an empty stomach. Lol.

I’m updating my review. I’ve given this place a ton of money and tipped the bartenders a sizable percentage of my salary. I wanna thank Cole for showing me the error of my way after I gave more tip than my tab and he pointed out that he didn’t think I put it in the jar… I have always been a strong tipper and a strong patron of this place from the beginning. It was a nice run but thanks to Cole I’ll do what I can to sway the patronage!!!

Great experience for Sunday Football! Bar was a bit under staffed, but didn’t have to wait very long at all. They had several games playing… great environment and not too rowdy! Played some darts as well! :) Overall great place! Happy Hour ALLDAYSUNDAY!
