My wife says the veggie chop salad was the best she ever had. Great service. Fresh corn bread is awesome. Chicken avocado sandwich recommended.

Sadly this location, never met up to the standards in Austin locations. But I’m giving it 5 stars just because it is a different Tex mex restaurant in San Antonio. We were never disappointed in the food, but it was never as good as the 2 Austin locations I’ve been to. Hopefully more austin restaurants move into SA, can’t wait to try torchys! They were so good when I tried them in round rock.

Great service and food. First place I’ve been to where the waitress volunteered to give me a drink to go rather than me having to ask for it. The service is fast and the food is good. I did not have one complaint with this place, and so it gets 5 stars. I will definitely be coming back. I made reservations, so I am not sure on how long the wait can get if you don’t have any.

Service was excellent, atmosphere okay. Not very well lit which for me is important but I guess if your on a date it would be alright. This is the first time I’ve ever had trout so I can say I would recommend it but the veggies that came with it was to salty for my taste. We had pork nachos and cornbread to start with which was already very filling. If I could I would probably give this place a 3.5

First off, let me start by saying that this can not be the same restaurant as the Z’ Tejas in Austin, Tx. The food was disgusting and the salsa was even worse. My husband and I literally left hungry. The service was ok but that is really the only reason the one star is here.

The four stars are for the ambiance, pleasant service, good drink specials and the cornbread. My husband also really loved the three types of salsa that came with his chips. We found our meals to be mediocre, however. This is a good place to come for appetizers and drinks rather than a meal I think. But we might give it another try and order different entrees next time because the cornbread really is amazing! If nothing else, I’m coming back for the cornbread!

What an awesome happy hour!!! Came here a couple of weeks ago with family friends and I was so amazed by what an amazing deal everything was. $ 5 margaritas, $ 3.50-$ 4.50 beer, and $ 5-$ 7 appetizers available throughout the entire restaurant Monday-Friday 3pm-7pm and Saturday-Sunday 3pm-5pm. We sampled the cast-iron skillet dumplings, smoked chicken quesadillas, green chile pork nachos and the street tacos. Everything was delicious!!! Checked in on foursquare and got free bottomless chips with three salsas, AND they brought us cornbread. Our receipt came with a survey for a coupon for a free appetizer so we came back today to redeem it. I ordered the roast chicken pot pie from the seasonal menu(it’s topped with their cornbread — which honestly was the best part of the whole dish). The pot pie came with a Z salad. I tried the mango citrus dressing and YUM! It has a little bit of a kick but it’s delicious. My boyfriend had the diablo pasta and really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to come back for more :).

I enjoyed my time here a Z’ Tejas. Here are the facts… –Staff was nice(and attractive… that’s always a plus! lol) –Food came out pretty quickly and was fresh –Waitress was very knowledgeable of menu –Parking. Is. Ridiculous. Valet took 10 minutes of waiting and then I just left to find a spot. This doesnt reflect on the restaurant at all… just beware. Cool place. I recommend

This is one of my favorite restaurants! If you don’t want to break the bank, you have to visit during Happy Hour. M-F 3 – 7 or enjoy Reverse Happy Hour after 9pm(how awesome is that?!) It’s totally acceptable to fill up on appetizers– the tostada bites and skillet dumplings are a must! We have them ever single time my husband and I visit. If you are willing to splurge, the snapper($ 20) will knock your socks off. Seriously! They always bring fresh/FREE delicious cornbread, and the 6th street margarita($ 5 during happy hour, two and I feel GREAT!) is my favorite of all time.

The family and I were visiting from Houston, and our hotel was near to la cantera. I’ve heard of ztejas in Austin, but never tried it. So glad we did! We met up with some friends(including a baby) for lunch on a Saturday around 1p. Luckily they were still serving up their brunch menu. Breakfast enchiladas? Yes please! They were chicken filled, with eggs and sauce top. Soo delish. Sided with black bean and rice, made it even better. Also included in their brunch menu were $ 4 drinks(Bloody Mary, mimosa, etc). Large outdoor patio with lots of seating, plenty indoor as well. Out server was very friendly and patient, making suggestions and giving us plenty of time to browse the menu. The manager was circulating the dining room as well, checking on guests(I love to see this!). Ztejas did not disappoint, and we’ll definitely be back again, and maybe try the one in Austin too.

The happy hour here is a pretty sweet deal with a range of appetizer to meal size dishes ranging from $ 4-$ 7. I came with a large group of friends and tried an assortment of dishes ranging from fish tacos to spinach quesadillas. For the price, portion sizes are generous and taste as good as you can expect from a chain restaurant. Service was prompt with my glass filled at all times and checks brought out in a timely manner. Another perk? Check-in on Unilocal and receive a free endless chips and salsa appetizer with three different types of salsa.

I have been to this Z’Tejas a half dozen times for breakfast. Each time I’m hopeful that something will change with the food that I order but each time I am disappointed. Partially, it’s my fault because I order the same thing every time-Chicken Breakfast Enchiladas. I love them so much when I have them at Z’Tejas in Austin. They are perfectly prepared with nicely shredded smoked chicken, delicious chili sauce and fried eggs on top. At this Z’Tejas location, I have received them with puddles of oil on top and mashed black beans that look like they have been sitting on the plate for awhile. Without fail, I find a bit of gristle or bone in my shredded chicken which usually turns me off my meal. It makes me a sad panda. One time is understandable but 6 plus times seems careless to me. They seem to get it right in Austin. I don’t know why SA standards should be lower. On a good note, the service is always friendly and competent. The restaurant has nice décor and the crowd is pretty eclectic. Perhaps, I’ll suck it up and try something else.

Business dinner here with physicians in side room– very well attended by waitstaff. Appetizers and cornbread delicious. Great casual venue for those slightly less formal gatherings discussions.

During a recent trip to San Antonio, we stopped here for happy hour. It’s located in the middle of a large shopping area and has a very nice outdoor patio. We had excellent service with our waiter giving helpful hints and suggestions. He wasn’t shy about steering us clear of menu items that haven’t been to popular. He told us right off the bat that the summer cocktail wasn’t very good and we should try something else, which I appreciated. This place is Unilocal friendly and the check in came with a free appetizer of tortilla chips and three different salsas. There was a red traditional salsa, a verde, and a smoky chipotle each one was good and it was a nice snack while we drank. We also shared the grilled shrimp, avocado tostada appetizer which was on special. The only negative for me was the drinks, which unfortunately was the reason we stopped by in the first place. They had a lot of fruity or veggie inspired cocktails but there were too many chunks in the drink. I felt like I was drinking a salad. Overall, the area was nice, the back patio was great, service and food were excellent, but I’d go somewhere else for drinks.

I have yet to have a bad meal at Z’Tejas, and was not disappointed this time. You must have the Shrimp Guacamole Tostada bites for your appetizer! I cannot come here without ordering them. Their complimentary cornbread is also delicious. Wait staff is always friendly and efficient. Our waitress today was no exception, quick friendly and there when we needed anything with a smile. I ordered the Seafood Enchilada this time. It was pretty good but I usually order the Barbacoa enchiladas which I think are better. The rice and black beans served with your meal were also good. They also have a great selection of cocktails if you are in the mood. Great atmosphere and great place! I will continue coming back!

Drop what you’re doing, get to ZTejas, order the margarita of your choice and the seafood enchiladas. Now savor the drink as you wait for your food, your taste buds are about to be blown away. If you think Mexican food can’t be marginally healthy, or that seafood is always fried and/or disgusting, this dish will change your mind. Now, I’m not really sure about the healthiness, but hey, you’re getting corn tortillas(instead of flour), veggies, and a bunch of omega 3’s in these enchiladas, so what’s not to love? The sauce they are served in is amazing, you’ll want to baptize your baby in it and mark your lover’s forehead with it, Lion King-style. You think I’m kidding. Get in your car and go see for yourself.

Z’Tejas has become my regular brunch destination! I find myself craving it as soon as the weekend hits! The restaurant is located in The Shops at La Cantera. It has a very nice and cozy patio, but I still prefer to sit inside. I always order the same thing — migas! The migas come with a muffin and a side of fruit also. It specifies this on the menu but sometimes we have had to ask the server for it. OJ is an excellent companion for the migas. I don’t indulge in adult beverages, but their Weekend Fun Bar(build-your-own Bloody Mary/mimosa/morning adult beverage) seems like a great deal. Z’Tejas is my new SA brunch haunt!

After complaining about my horrible experience here on Mother’s Day, the manager sent me an e-mail and was extremely apologetic, he sent me a $ 50 gift card in the mail to return. I refused to use it because I genuinely didn’t want to go back. Some family was in town and I remembered I had the gift card, so we went to try it for brunch. We actually had a great server and she was on top of everything. The food came out nice and hot. There were a few items forgotten but they were quickly replaced. Plus the manager was walking around asking everyone if everything was OK, so that was a bonus. The likelihood that I will return is low because I’ve been 2 out of 3 times and had bad service, but I was happy to atleast have good service this time around.
