Lantern Tea

I used to love them! Their food used to be fresh and delicious, I had always been skeptical to try them, but I kept hearing good things, so about a year ago we went, and it was amazing, fresh food, decent service. And we quickly were eating there weekly.
Then, they stopped serving boba.
Then, they took 15 mins to take an order and 30 mins to serve. And 15 mins to come back after charging my card.(when we were the only people there)
And the couple of times I’ve placed to go orders, they’ve been out of everything I’ve wanted, and when I’ve come in to pick up and pay, they made us wait almost 20 mins to pay. My food was cold by the time I got it home. For the length I waited with it sitting in front of me, I should have just eaten there.
I wish they would get their act together, I want them to be good, and I want a good Vietnamese place on this end of town.

The service here is good and friendly. Place is clean. Food just isn’t that great. The phở broth was sweet. Not something I’m used to. The spring rolls were all iceberg lettuce. The fried tofu was alright. It just wasn’t very satisfying overall.

Went to this place May 6^th 2016.
No line yet they took forever on drinks, took about 40 mins to come out with food. They were out of everything. Short staffed, only one waitress.
I WOULD GIVE THEM 1 STAR, BUT THEIR FOOD WAS GREAT.

Delicious food at great prices. Most of the menu us under $ 10! You can hear them cook it fresh in the back! Affordable for college students!

I went here for to go for lunch. Maybe their dine in service is better but today they were out of several menu items (spring rolls egg rolls dumplings) also they were out of bean sprouts for the phở. They said they could make the vegetarian spring rolls which is what i wanted. Also i ordered the sizzling tofu and vegetarian phở. The best was the sizzling tofu it was full of tofu and different vegetables. The spring rolls were only noddles a piece of lettuce and 2 small pieces of tofu. There was no mint or sliced carrots or anything that i have had from other Vietnamese restaurants. The Phở was good also. The reason wgy is because it is made with a vegetarian broth (cabbage and mushroom). Also i found out the order things thwy are out of on Sundays and the owner is supposed to bring them in on Mondays. If that is the case they could just be closed mondays to stock up. Because if they keep running out of food i won’t be back. My husband wanted Egg rolls. Call before you go here to make sure they are stocked up on everything and have qhat you want to eat.

I love this food sooo much, best place ever I went to another one no comparison this place is the best an great customer service so I would only go to them an i go there quite often…

Food is over priced not bad tho. The waitresses need to cheer up they definitely seem like they hate their lives.

So when we first started coming here the food was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, with excellent portions. Over time we started having problems but it’s only been with to go orders, so the case may be that their to go just sucks. Anyway, the first time, we ordered phở to go with extra noodles, and we paid for them. We get home only to find that it’s the exact same portion of noodles. We let that time go but…
It happened again. So the second time we went back they fixed it for us in addition to correcting the order they got wrong– they forgot to add the meat we requested and paid extra for. The third time we went, they forgot to add shrimp, so we go back, wait, and then they forget the meatballs. That’s twice in one night. So we waited awhile and went back tonight, because their food used to be phenominal and who can resist phở on a cold night when you’re sick and it’s just around the corner? So we tried them again — they got the order right, but the bean sprouts were wilted and the broth was cold. Needless to say, after so many chances, we will not be returning.
I am so sad that this place has fallen so far in quality.

I really loved coming here for the Phở. But after tonight I will not be returning. My phở came out looking old and the liquid in it was dark brown. It’s never looked like this before and it also had clumps of brown stuff floating around in it (I didn’t order pork phở I ordered shrimp phở) I was so dissapointed and my appetite was gone. This place is really going down hill. Two stars because their hot mango tea is really good for those who love sweet stuff. Staff is kind of careless and slow even if we were the only ones there.

I odrede the sizzling beef for to go! I went to house and I opended it’ the beef is totally not well done! I paid $ 16 and more! And I got the food like that? Wtf?

Good food for a late night spot. Waitress was kind but didn’t even know what some of the foods were. Phở was okay they’re known for their phở somehow it didn’t really taste unique like they say. Good service!

This phở restaurant caught my eye the minute I moved to San Bernardino! This is my first time trying it and it is absolutely phenomenal. Their house fried rice is delicious and their beef combo phở is to die for.
The restaurant itself is very clean and well kept. Very nice decorations and very friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back here.

This is my favorite place to eat in my hometown. There has been nothing I haven’t liked since coming here. Very big servings and great prices. Try the phở, I crave it at least every other day because of this place! Very friendly servers and cooks, and take out is amazing and fresh like it should be!

This was my first time here, my gf lives right up the street and I wanted some soup or something hot with this rainy, overcast weather. So I Unilocaled soup, and this had popped up. I thought I would give it a try. I always pass this place on almost a daily bases but never went in.
Décor on the inside is nice, small, cozy. A little upscale for San berdo, especially if you peak outside of the window. You kind of feel like you are somewhere else for a second.
I got sat right away. Took a minute or two too long to come to the table to take my order, but that’s just being picky. I ordered the vegetarian phở, made with a mushroom based broth. Which is hard to come by when it comes to phở, so I was excited. My water and Coke came out the same time with my phở, not a huge deal. But if I was thirsty it would suck. The phở was piping hot, filled with broccoli, onions, carrots, and mushrooms. Bean sprouts, fresh basil leaves, limes and jalapeños on the side along with hot sauce, teriyaki, and chili. The broth was very nice and hearty. I was very satisfied with this random phở finding. 8 bucks plus tip, very nice, relaxing and quiet environment when I went.
I most def will be back. A little diamond in the rough for San berdo.

I’m basing my review just on the drinks, because I finally found a place that serves boba in San Bernardino. I only had boba in the San Fernando valley and in LA areas, but in San Bernardino I could never find it. Then one day visiting my parents I found this place and I only wanted to taste the boba drinks. I ordered Thai tea with boba and it was really very good. The thai tea itself was very good, not so sweet, but just enough to enjoy the flavor. The boba was a little chewy for my liking, but better than nothing. Hopefully there will be more boba locations opening, and not just find it in a restaurant.

So delicious!!! Nice quiet atmosphere. The waitress was very nice and came to check on us often as well as the polite cook! My first time eating Phở! I’ll be back for sure!

Great Phở!!! Wing’s on the others hand were burnt they replaced them with a fresh order but they still had a burnt smell not appealing. But the Phở was worth coming back and the servers were nice. clean establishment quick service.

What a HUGE difference from my previous visit. I told myself that I would never set foot in here again, but I have since changed my mind when I saw that not only did their reviews improve, but their B grade has moved up to an A. It is wonderful to see a business own their mistakes and fix them.
The service has changed for the better. The food came out fast and everything was absolutely delicious. The Phở was made to perfection! The staff here is friendly and attentive, which is much much better than my experience prior to this.
There are such huge, noticeable changes that have been made here.
I will definitely be back!

I love finding high quality restaurants in areas where you wouldn’t expect them. The Lantern Tea is one of those hidden gems. I have been trying their daily specials in order to broaden my Vietnamese palate to something more than just PHÓ, and I am glad I did.
They have an easy to read menu that ranges from bread boats to Vermicelli. Their drink menu is just as broad, so, if you like specialty drinks, you will find something for you.
Although their sign on the street still says #1 PHÓ, don’t be fooled. This is a major upgrade from the previous restaurant located here. It has a more elegant décor with a menu that rocks.
I didn’t give them five stars because the service is consistently slow, even though I’m usually the only one in the place. Servers are friendly and helpful, so it makes up for the speed of service. I think it is from the servers having to pull double duty in the kitchen.
Recommendations:

Spring Rolls: they are hearty with fresh ingredients. —-Only complaint is that they would add more shrimp.

Sauté Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli. Awesome
Just ask for the day’s special, it is bound to be good.
