Mike was fantastic and very helpful. Isaak did a great job taking care of my car. They made my seemingly miserable day with my car more bearable and enjoyable. I highly recommend.

If I could give one star I would… They didn’t tighten the oil filter after changing my oil and had the nerve to tell me I had a oil leak and then get mat that I didn’t want the to change or fix my car… y car could have blowen up or something.. this is crazy when I called to tell them my concern all they had to say was oh bring it back and well take a look at it. I of course told him no and they will never touch my cars again.. Very upset because I have two cars and go to them for everything. (Not anymore) they lost a loyal customer as well as my close friends and family …

If you deal with Cory at this Pep Boys; then brace yourself for some stellar, honest, efficient customer service.
I went in there for an oil change, and to have my brake pads replaced (the car would shimmy when I’d apply the brakes). I had a coupon for $ 50 off brake service, so I was expecting to pay about $ 200.
I left the car with Cory, and he told me that he’d give me a call after about 20 minutes of inspections. I got back to work (I was on lunch break when I dropped the car of that Friday), and sure enough, Cory had called. I called him back and he said «I have good news, and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?» Right there I was nervous. I thought to myself «Ok, here we go… They’re going to be like effin’ Firestone and try to get $ 500 out of me.) WRONG!
The good news was that my brake pads were fine! The «bad“news was that I needed my front rotors turned. Turning both rotors cost $ 100. He then let me know of a special on the oil change; which saved some bucks. He also advised that I get my alignment done (it was bad, I did notice that awhile back). I approved the alignment.
I asked Cory how long all of this would take. I told him that I honestly wasn’t in a rush, but I just wanted to know when to ask a friend to take me back to Pep Boys. He told me an hour and a half. I left the car there at 1 p.m.
Sure enough, when I got my ride there arranged, I called Cory up at 2:30. I told him that I had my ride arranged, and just wanted to know how the car was doing; and when to come.
«It’s ready for pick up.» was Cory’s reply
Sure enough, when I pulled up there, I saw my car ready. I left that place with an oil change, turned rotors and an alignment; and I spent under $ 200!!!
I have to tell you that years and years ago; I had some bad or extremely costly experiences with Pep Boys. I’d always avoided them. However, I strongly advise you go the one in San Bernardino if you have one of their very good money-​saving coupons.
If you get Cory as the man working alongside you; then you’re going to leave Pep Boys with a great running car, a heavier wallet than you expected (with a coupon), and a good feeling from knowing that you just received tremendous service from a good man who works at a national auto shop.
They’re worth your time and money… Especially if you deal with Cory… Who concluded the transaction with a good, firm handshake… That’s ALWAYS a great sign of a good, decent man.

I had a great experience at this location! Cory Gregor quoted me one price and it was less when everything’s as said and done. Customer service was amazing. I will definitely be going back and highly recommend going here. Talk to Cory he’s the man

Had an appointment for a synthetic oil change for a coupon I received via e-​mail then when I came for my appointment they were «out of stock» on the oil that was on special so they wanted to charge me way more. Once I agreed to still do the service, they took my keys to walk outside and said «is it that lowered one» I replied saying «yes» they tossed my keys back on the counter and said «nope, we can’t work on that» while the manager stood by the employee and said «yea, not gonna happen!» My car isn’t dropped much at all. I’ve brought my other way lower car here before and had it serviced but today they just wanted to be super rude. Last time I visit this Pep boys. Service manager is garbage and other desk employee was also rude. Also wasn’t even busy when I went they said it would still take an hour and a half for an oil change… Do not come to this location…

Corey provided stellar customer service during my routine oil change for my Toyota. He advised it may take 2 hours, and the service was completed much sooner.
Corey was friendly and informative and was able to professionally answer all my questions and keep me updated. The waiting area has chairs and power outlets. Free WIFI sign is posted, I’m not sure if it actually works.
There is an asian Seafood market within walking distance of Pep Boys there is pre made chinese food that can be purchased TO GO if you get hungry.

This company believes ordinary people are stupid. If I could score this Pep Boys located on E. Street San Bernardino they would be receiving failing grade.
This is the summarization.
Work on my wife’s car was unsatisfactory reasons are listed below:
1. Wrong Weight Of Oil. Didn’t follow instruction from the customer.
2. When brought to the attention of this management Did Not Care…
3. No Solutions offered by this company. Total Runaround…
In closing be Very Cautious of This Type of Treatment and Service From This Company.

This place is the worst! They messed up my tire thread for the bolts and they denied it I showed them they were the only shop to work on car and they asked if I would get it fixed they would discount the parts DONT GO THERE!

So I had work done at another shop almost 2 months ago, I got 2 front tires but it turns out they left the bolt to the control arm loose which caused those new tires to get bald literally to the wire. John and the new service manager Cory explained why my tires wore out in that time Eddie another tech went out of his way to to back the bolt. within an hour I got my tires put on and my problem fix the alignment didn’t take long they actually allowed me to see how bad it was and how they fixed it it was pretty cool. but after explaining my situation to Cory he was more than helpful, he and his whole staff were very friendly. at end crystal came to the rescue and made sure thanks to the cyber deals I payed under 400 for all 4 tires with alignment and my problem. Fixed thank you guys..

Ric was friendly and informative. Provided information on additional services that are beneficial to the miles on my car but was not pushy. Estimated costs were presented up front before any work was done. Made an appt ahead of time. Showed up early and they took care of me. Thank you.

We had a great experience with Pep Boys last night. Got a flat tire (then a shredded spare, but that’s another story) on the freeway within about 8 miles of this location. Since it was already pretty late on a Saturday evening, we called ahead and spoke with Danny, who advised us of the tow service they offer there (which we used). While awaiting the arrival of the tow truck, we decided that we should call back to confirm that they had the tire size we needed, since it was kind of a specialty tire. As it turned out, they had one left in stock. After searching and searching for it, and not locating it, Danny went on to see if he could source it from somewhere else.
While we were busily trying to think of options for where we could have our car towed, without running into the cost of a whole other tire (or two), to have it towed back to our home in Temecula (about 50 mi. south of there), Danny and his team were continuing to search for the tire we needed. As we were giving the tow truck driver a friend’s address to tow the car to, Danny got back on the phone with us, and told us they found the tire and to bring it on over. It was now about 7:20pm.
They took care of changing the tire and getting us back on the road, including checking the condition of and adding air to all of the other tires, for no additional charge. We couldn’t have been happier with the service we received. When it was all done, he refused a tip from us.
I’m not sure what happened with these other reviews, but all things considered, what could have been a horrible night was made much more bearable with the courteous and professional service provided by the Pep Boys team.

The day that i went, the service was excellent. Greeted at the door right away, told the wait-​time beforehand, thanked for coming, walked to the restroom by the employee instead of just being waved in the direction. The girl on the phone was also spending a lot of time carefully explaining options and costs to each customer calling.

Get ready to spend an unreal amt of time for just a simple service. I have been coming here for about the last year because I had coupons for my oil changes. They are finished now so luckily I won’t have to go back. They may even tell u ur car is ready but when u get down there u will still have to wait over half an hr just to get the keys. Customer service? Forget about it! Very rude & condescending. I will never go back to this or any other pep boys!

Have spent three hours here thinking my brakes are being changed and my oil changed.
Only to find out one of their guys says breaks are ok and other says they need to be replaced. WTH.
Btw in three hours have only done the oil change. Now he tells me 300 for three belts replaced and it will take another ¹¹⁄₂ hrs to 2 hrs.
Avoid at all cost. I have to question their integrity and professionalism.
Unless they botch up the belts. I will not be back.
Now five hours into waiting with them arguing over the fact that none of them know how to exchange belts.
Please avoid like the plague. Am worried they will ruin my car.

caution — I used to work within walking distance and came 3 separate occasions — had an old ford aerostar van that they worked on — drove away and it was in worse condition — brought it back within 24 hours and was told it needed at least 700 more worth of work — they couldn’t tell me that before? ridiculous — I ended up donating the vehicle — was cheaper to get rid of it…
gave them another couple of tries again because I worked close by — asked them to do oil change and headlamp change — a simple request — they didn’t have time to do the headlamp change — no problem — I flew out of town and came back and brought the vehicle to dealership to get the head lamp changed… when they popped open the hood they found that the oil cap had been just left out on the side… unbelieveable!
I gave 2 star rating instead of 1 because the management tried to apologize at least… was not given any credit or anything but would not go back there again… this was in 2012 and so hopefully they have made some changes for the better for the sake of the community — I used to go to the PepBoys in Costa Mesa in OC off of Baker all the time and never ran into such trouble… was sad and disappointed to say the least…

RUDE! From beginning to end. Our bolt for some caliper on the brakes or something (I dont know much about cars) came off while we were driving so we had to pull over and get towed. UNFORTUNATELY, pep boys was the only thing open.
It was close to closing so we called ahead and asked,“Is it still okay for us to bring in our car to get service?” Whoever we were speaking with replied, «We close at 8,» with more attitude than a 13-​year-​old girl. I’m sorry, but THAT WASNT MY QUESTION.
I know quite a lot about customer service. I worked at the front desk of a hair salon for 2 years. So I’ve dealt with a number of customers who ranged from «very cooperative» to «this person has never heard the word ‘cooperative’ in their life.»
Anyway, we were being very polite and cooperative the entire time but for SOME REASON (maybe this guy drank too much haterade this morning) he was straight up RUDE. And not only to us! There were a couple other people waiting for their cars, paying and whatnot, who he was also being rude toward. He then continued to joke around with a few other employees while he was still with customers.
In the end, we couldn’t get our car fixed because they didn’t have the part and we had to get picked up. I forgot to mention, we were driving home from VEGAS TO SAN DIEGO.
All in all, service here sucked. Thanks guy at the front desk for absolutely nothing. Couldn’t even crack a smile? Lol

I had all four tires replaced, sign says they’ll beat any price, they didn’t even want to match America’s Tire, but after an hour of patiently asking them to follow through they did. About four hours later, my tires were changed, two of them installed backwards (directional tires), I had to go back again for them to fix it. It’s not rocket science!

I just got an oil change from here because I had a $ 20 off coupon. The wait was about an hour and a half for the oil change and they also called after about 40 minutes to let me know that I should replace my air filter as well. The total cost was a little over $ 100 (with the coupon). Can’t complain, but nothing was all that spectacular either. The staff was a hit and miss. Some aren’t very friendly (but they weren’t exactly rude either) and the prices were average. Luckily my husband drove behind me so I didn’t have to wait in that small, dingy ‘waiting room’ :)
Well, from what I can tell, nothing was stolen! And that’s always good haha

This review is only for the Smog Check I have had here.
I needed a smog check to register my car. First off, when did my car get that old? Geez it seems like I just bought it. This was the cheapest location closest to my job, so BAM I arrived. I showed up at 4:30 without an appointment and was done in about an hour and a half. That is relatively short for no appointment at the end of the day.
The staff was helpful, and didn’t try to up-​sell me. Ill be honest I don’t know anything about cars so a business that doesn’t prey on me is a star in my book.
Would I come here again? For a Smog Check, Absolutely. Other then that I’m happy with my other service technicians.
Cool place though nonetheless. And the men drooling over me helped my ego. As if that was suffering.

The 2 star rating on Unilocal is tagged by the phrase «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» In a lot of ways, that sums up my experience with Pep Boys as of late.
At this point, I think just about the only thing that keeps me coming back is that our tires are under warranty there. That, and the fact that they are a national chain and said tire warranty is covered across the nation.
The place is clean and the presentation is professional. Like MANY automotive centers, no one seems in much of a hurry to be helpful. It is by no means the slowest place I’ve been, however, and this is a bit of a plus.
Perhaps my biggest complaint is that they will not own their work. Case and point: a year or so ago, I had the front brakes replaced on my Honda Pilot. Within 48 hours, we began to hear a loud squeal (especially when turning) and a grinding sound/​sensation when we would come to a complete stop. We took it back in immediately. The technician checked the brakes and assured us everything was in working order. He said he could not replicate the problem we described. Funny thing is that the grinding and squealing were constant for us. He did mention that the rear brakes (which we had replaced elsewhere about 6 months before) might be squealing a bit.
We took the vehicle back to the automotive center where we had the rear brakes replaced (about 30 miles away). They looked at the vehicle and told us the rear brakes were fine. They even took us out into the garage to see for ourselves. The rear pads and rotors were clean. Looked great. The front rotors however had significant «blueing» and it seemed likely that the oily coating that is applied to prevent the rotors from rusting had not been adequately removed before installation.
Because the front brake job was under warranty, we returned to Pep Boys better armed and ready to fight for our rights as consumers. They had no choice but to replace the brakes but insisted that it was our fault. We live in the nearby mountains (which they knew going into the whole thing) and spend a lot of time on the winding roads. Funny thing is, we’ve owned this same vehicle for five years (bought it within a month of moving to the mountains) and have had the brakes replaced multiple times without issue. Once at this same Pep Boys.
All in all, between my wife and I, we spent nearly 8 hours at two different automotive centers (6 ½ of them at Pep Boys alone) to have our front brakes replaced and to be told, in the end, that it was our fault because of where we live. (But they were happy to do us the favor of fixing the problem. Ha!) My time and sanity are worth FAR more than any paltry pennies saved or to have a nationwide warranty. I would rather just pay for the repair twice than to be taken advantage of.
That said, if you know of a great, full service automotive center in the area, LET ME KNOW! I am a very loyal customer when I find a mechanic I can trust.
