My nine-year old son participated in the yearly Egyptian two-day Summer Camp here through the education department and had a great time. It ran from 9:30am-3pm, which was a full day of activities according to him. The program was led by education coordinator Paige Taylor and the art workshops conducted by local artist and art teacher Keith Brockie. They were through tours of the museum and made a number of art projects utilizing clay and other mixed media. These two are highly professional and very knowledgeable. A small lunch of pizza and drinks were provided. He quite enjoyed it and the senior staff was welcoming and helpful. According to my son, some of the younger staff(interns) did not seem as engaged with all of the kids and weren’t always as attentive of the goings-on – kids cutting lines, bothering other kids, etc. Overall the program gets very high marks, but loses points because of the CSUSB parking attendant tyrants. I personally observed them showing up at the times parents were dropping off and picking up kids and were issuing tickets to people who were parking for a very brief period of time. Come on, Parking Services, be a little friendlier to visitors who are stopping in for a brief moment and shouldn’t have to pay $ 5.00 for it or worse, a parking fine. Thank you, Paige Taylor and Keith Brockie, my kid says that your program rocks!

If your a student, stop in. They offer regular tours to groups. Mostly consists of objects on loan. Entrance is free with a suggested donation of $ 3. Parking will cost you $ 5. You can pay for two hour parking and save a dollar, but if you do the 5, you can walk around the campus. It is one of the greenest campuses in the Cal State system.
