found a bar code label in my salad. Unbelievable but true. I stopped by for a quick dinner and ended up with a surprise. I pointed it out to the waiter. I didn’t make a fuss because I don’t need more stress but still, the restaurant should have been proactive about apologizing. If the customer doesn’t complain, that doesn’t mean potentially unsanitary conditions are ok.

Food is ok at best, overpriced, but in the same parking lot as Marriott. So yes I’ve eaten here three times when I’m here on business. Tonight I pointed out to waitress that the menu says draft beer is $ 6 but I’m charged $ 7 on my bill. She doesn’t lower my bill to match the menu price but says she’ll definitely bring to the manager’s attention. Poor girl; it wasn’t worth my effect. I just tipped her less to make up the difference.

3.5 stars outside looks blah but indoor was nice, it was actually a bit surprising. service was great, the server was accomodating and engaging i got their ribeye which was a special, bad decision. should’ve gotten something else. it wasn’t tender. they had sauteed kale which was tasty, steamed broccoli was hugewhich i loved. hubby’s marinated steak was tasty and flavorful. wish i got that one instead.

I am updating my rating… Had a glorious time last Saturday night. Adore Liz the hostess and server Lauren was outstanding. Food a hit. Atmosphere superior. I wish I lived closer because I’d hang out there one night a week! Just love Izzy’s!

Eating here mostly exceeded my expectations. Based upon some of the reviews, I was bracing myself for somewhat of a disappointment but I came away surprised at how good the food and atmosphere were. This Izzy’s opened up in 2001; apparently some iteration of Izzy’s was established in the 1930s and there are now three locations(I’ve heard there used to be fourth in San Ramon until 2012). A side note, the current owners opened a newer restaurant called Casa Cubana in Oakland – my research tells me that they tried another Cuban place that was eventually closed. Anyway, I made reservations via Unilocal. The process was convenient and included email reminders and a text confirmation the day of the reservation. Upon entering Izzy’s, the first thing that struck me about Izzy’s was interior. There was a theme of Hemingway going on inside, with brick, dim lights, and booths flanking the main seating area. It felt upscale yet cozy. The food I tried was very good to excellent. For instance, the Chicken Marsala(22.95 $; comes with two sides) was probably some of the best I have ever had; I even used the bread to greedily eat all the sauce on the plate. Next up were the Filet Mignon Medallions(38.95 $; with two sides); they come drenched in black pepper brandy sauce and were awesome too. One odd thing was that they did not ask how I wanted them cooked but they came out medium to medium well and tasted wonderful. There are a few weaknesses I should mention including the bread and butter – it was very hard and largely tasteless. Other steak restaurants usually have really addictive bread, I recommend that they try a new type in order to bring the masses in. The baked potatoes, only medium in size, were mediocre because they only served them with butter and sour cream. Izzy’s Potatoes, however, were a must-order and fabulous(as other reviews would tell you). Overall, I would give the main dishes 4 stars and sides 3 stars. Service was good but they brought out one wrong side with the steak; this turned out to be a ‘silver-lining’ moment though because we got an extra side gratis. I would return here for the Marsala and maybe return for the steak.

I wish Unilocal had a zero or negative star! Had mother’s day dinner and it was one of the worst meals myself and everyone in my party has ever had. Here is a bit of advise… Season your food! The fillet minion was literally flavorless and was the thickness of a standard cut. Same goes for the steamed broccoli, calamari, and chicken picatta — flavorless. The creamed spinach had a very odd flavor to it. Almost like they used freezer burned frozen spinach. The skirt steak that a few people ordered was so touch and under cooked you could barley cut it let alone chew it. The only remotely flavorful dish were the mussels. My daughter ordered a kids hamburger that was ordered medium. It came out raw. Literally raw. Service was mediocre. Had to ask multiple times for a few things but overall the staff did a decent job for what they had to work with. I’m astonished that this place has been able to stay in business with this type of food quality. My advise to people is to stay away from this restaurant. You could get a better tasting steak at Sizzler for 1⁄3 of the cost which is not saying much. Bonnie, Don’t bother responding to this and asking me why I didn’t bring this up to our server and all the other excuses you have made to previous reviews. I will never come back to your establishment.

As a 1st timer at Izzy’s I wouldn’t go back! Over priced. $ 13.00 for 1 crab cake. I guess I expected a larger crab cake with more flavor. Didn’t see any chunks of crab meat! Also got a piece of chocolate cake for $ 8.00. I’ve had a lot better at a better price too! Attn: Bonnie. Ty for your reply. I was by myself staying at Fairfield Inn. I live up in the country now. I am from the Bay Area all my life. Only get down there once a month for Dr visits.

Came here tonight expecting to have an awesome dinner. Here on Unilocal and Google it say this place is open till 10pm. We arrive at 9 pm to locked doors. Very disappointed! No stars isn’t an option, but I would grant them no stars for the total inconvenience and lack of professionalism.

Our waitress was great and attentive. However, the food was not up to standards or consistent with the high price. Filet mignon was cut too thin like a skirt steak and had dry end pieces. Broccoli came in a huge chunk undercooked, bread hard like cardboard, and chicken piccata dry but tasty. The calamari was mediocre but compared to ever thing else, it surpassed the overall quality of the food. Would not recommend. Reply to Izzy’s Yes, we did get the birthday girls filet replaced after everyone had gotten their food. But the food took some time to make and not everyone was willing to raise complaints about their food and wait longer.

First time at Izzy’s. I didn’t want to drive into the City to go to House of Prime Rib. I had the 14oz Prime rib with Izzy’s potatoes and green beans. Was an awesome cut. The potatoes were great and the beans nice fresh and crisp(though I don’t know what it is with leaving the ends on. Personal beef though.) I’ll defiantly go again the next time I’m out in the SFO area for work

Good food. better company The waiter was somewhat attentive but needed to concentrate on our needs and not everyone walking through the door. it seemed as if he was bothered by serving us. Its was super busy, like always, reservations recommend. The food was delish. I went with the bay shrimp salad and filet and my husband went with the Rib eye, we topped it off with a simple Ice cream Sunday.

Came here on Valentine’s Day for dinner with my fiancé. A bit after We ordered, our server came Back and told us they were out of steak, Bummer! So we had to settle for alternatives on the menu. Server was super friendly.

We used to LOVE going to IZZY’s but I have to say the food quality isn’t quite the same as before. This is the 2nd time we’ve been to Izzy’s in the last year — I didn’t write up anything earlier because I wanted to give them a 2nd chance — but unfortunately it didn’t work out this time either. We typically love their flank steak with their izzy potatos and creamed spinach. The meat was flavorful but tough, the izzy potatoes were the best thing on the plate but each of us got varying amounts of it. some a «dollop» while others got massive amount. Hint: Consistency would be good — especially when serving the same table! And the spinach — was much too runny — it was more of a soup on the plate. What’s hard is it’s not cheap here — so you expect great food — not willing to pay this much for mediocre. It was even hard to find our server — he came right away after we got our food to check on us — where we only had one bite — and then GONE! Had to wave down the bus boy. And it wasn’t even that crowded. Sorry Izzy’s — really wanted to like it — just like before — but somehow somethings gone wrong.

I love Izzy’s food and I’ve gone yearly with my boyfriend’s family. But this review is based on their management team. So since my mother’s birthday was coming up, I thought making a surprise dinner for her and my dad planned by my siblings and I would be a wonderful idea. We wanted for them to have a relaxing night out since they never get the opportunity to and to also try the food for the first time since I felt that Izzy’s could deliver an awesome dinner based on my previous experiences here. I left them an e-mail on their website trying to see how my siblings and I could choose, plan, and pay in advance for our parent’s dinner and reservation prior to the dinner. Shortly, I got a call(which I missed because I was working) and Bonnie left me a voicemail saying that I would have to come in prior to the dinner, fill out a confirmation form to run a credit card for the night of the dinner and it could all be smooth sailing from there. I live in Southern Cali now so I couldn’t personally do it, so I told my brother to handle this immediately and to drive there(26 min drive for him) and to follow as what I was told in the voicemail. He called me afterwards and was upset because he said the manager whom he had spoke with said that it was impossible to do that. The man even insulted my brother saying«Some people just don’t understand the restaurant business» and said other rude remarks and comments to my brother. So we decided not to do the dinner with Izzy’s any longer after my brother being disrespected. For the record… Generations of our family own restaurants or if not have been in the restaurant business. I for one am a Hostess and a server and I would be extremely embarrassed if I had a manager that said that to a customer, especially if the customer was following the voicemail that his employee left. Rude and what a waste of our time.

What a great first time experience! Came for my husband’s birthday dinner. After having been to some fancy restaurants(see review for a certain place at Ghirardelli Square), and experiencing subpar service, as well as going to not so fancy restaurants, and receiving really bad service(see my review from a restaurant we went to yesterday), we are VERY pleased with our experience here. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in. The server(Randy?) was fantastic! Very genuine in his attention us. The food was delicious, and really hit the spot! We had enough for leftovers. Best thing: the kids really liked their meal, especially the resident Mac and cheese connoisseur. This place is not too fancy. A comfortable place to eat a good meal. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I have gone to Izzy’s regularly for years, usually splitting an entrée, which is a great deal. For a few extra $$ they split it and each person chooses two sides. Last weekend we had our first bad experience. We ordered the ‘house cab’, meaning a basic wine, nothing fancy. I got the tab and the three glasses of wine were $ 48.00!!! I complained to the bartender that if we wanted an expensive glass of wine we would have asked for one by name. He said the house cab was 14 Hands, and that he put it on the menu. I told him my that pouring $ 16 glasses of wine without noting the price was b@#%$^*t and he just shrugged. They were also short-handed that night and service was slow. So if you have a barkeep that sounds like Tattoo from The Love Boat, don’t trust him, and bring your own bottle of wine.

Had dinner here last night with my roommate and his brother. A total throw back to the old-style steakhouses. They have a nice small menu, with a good selection of cuts. I went with the prime rib, medium rare, with garlic whipped potatoes and creamed spinach. The prime rib came out more medium, but I wasn’t going to waste a cut. The garlic whipped potatoes where great, but the creamed spinach had a flavor I couldn’t place, it wasn’t bad, just not what I was expecting. I would consider this more of a special occasion restaurant than your once a week/month restaurant.

We had reservations on friday at 5pm and there were people in the bar already. The food took longer than expected, we were very hungry. We kept having to ask for stuff instead of the servers providing us the things we needed. There were 3 of us, 2 of us used a groupon and I did not. I thought the food was pretty pricey. I feel like you can get better food at a classier steak place for cheaper. Their sides were pretty good, their potatoes were tasty. I felt the entrée could have arrived faster because we were full from the appetizers. By the time the entrée came, we were FULL. I was quite disappointed. Their drinks were pricey and they did have happy hour, but still pricey! Parking was good, there were a lot of space and it is right next to the airplane museum. After dinner, you can walk around and watch planes take off and land. Near Izzy’s were a hotel and Burger King. Meh. I’ve had better, not sure if I’ll be back.

Izzy’s is consistently pleasing to the tastebuds and the service is very professional. I like the dark, traditional atmosphere, good for mafia meetings and making deals. I have to say the wine is ridiculously priced, though, and that’s one of the main factors keeping this from being a 5-star review. I know a place like this is pricey walking in, but $ 18 for a glass of wine you can get a bottle for of the same type for less the price is a little crazy to me. I still like Izzy’s a ton more than House of Prime Rib, and the fact that there is a parking lot and easy access to the location is a plus.

This is a solid, old-time steak house straight outta the sixties. Fabulous, albeit traditional. I’ve always enjoyed a solid wine list during night caps while late-arriving colleagues have lamented they thought they were in Kansas City(in a good way). :)
