I absolutely love this little place. I’m really not that into sushi or know much about where to go but I have to say the few things I’ve got there are amazing. I really like their crunch roll. I’ve had this at several different places and Aha hits it just right. The employees are so friendly and personable. I really do recommend this place!

We come here often because of location and cheap prices. Food is good and fish is fresh. The only negative is that they don’t have real crab as an option and they have a limited menu. Their service is good and employees are nice.

Amazingly good, huge delicious sushi rolls, reasonably priced. Attentive service. Easy in and out. Can’t tell if the parking is just for the dry cleaner. Great for dates and parties of less than 6.

Their sushi is awesome and the service friendly. Very clean as well. Just two tips, their Ramen is literally top ramen. Save your money and just get sushi here. Also their hours say 1130am but they actually don’t open until 12pm and aren’t typically ready when they open. You will have to have lots of patience for some of their logistics not being set up.

Omg. I am a lover of fresh, delicious sushi. My father in law used to say «don’t buy fish if you can’t see the ocean». This place was amazing.
The prices were reasonable, they had a fair arrangement of saki and Japanese beer.
We had the «sunset action» and «samurai» on our first go around. It was so delicious and I was starving that we hit the «El Camino» for good measure. They even lowered the“spicy” scale for me (I get Hella heartburn)
Sushi not good for babies? Well, my 3 year old had Ramen and loved it.
When I’m in town next, we’re definitely coming back.

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews. I think those people were at a different restaurant. It’s really small inside, but it’s clean and neat. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly. The food was good and reasonably priced. The sauce on the chicken katsu was just the right mixture of sweet & spicy. Definitely worth trying.

Staff is friendly and sushi is super fresh. Best poke I’ve had so far in San Clemente and I’ve been to ALOT of poke places… served Hawaiian style without rice. Albacore melts in your mouth and the Alaska roll is good too. I like the fact they have other Japanese food like agedashi, tempura and their miso is spot on. I wish they had sukiyaki and more tsunemono but then again it’s a sushi restaurant.

It’s not as though I was absolutely repulsed and I believe that this place should be avoided at all costs; it’s the simple fact that the food is no good. The food is no good, and this prime real estate should be dedicated to a restaurant that is committed to excellent execution and commitment to quality cuisine. The food at Aha Sushi is not fresh, at all. I don’t understand how this place seemed to have racked up 4 stars.
The food is an atrocity to Japanese cuisine and at the prices they’re charging, it’s not justified by any means. The fish quality is nearly inedible, but that should be a given by the looks of the place. The overall ambiance is almost fast-​food style, and the choices you have on the menu are certainly fast food options.
Overall? Don’t stop by if you’re looking for fresh quality sushi. This place may satisfy your quick fix for California Rolls or other cooked fusion rolls. But don’t call this place Japanese, that’s an insult to the cuisine.

The sushi and sashimi were great! Staff was nice and helpful. Was a great time.
Arrived a little after 9 o’clock. Was greeted and took a seat at the sushi bar. I was worried when I arrived that it might be a little late but not the case at all. Was helped with a smile.
Glad I ended up coming here. I will be back.

I love this sushi spot! They have super fresh sushi. I have been twice and both times were amazing. They always have great specials such as tuna belly and sweet shrimp. I think they have the best yellowtail and salmon sushi in the area. They have a really great selection of sushi rolls that will please everyone. I also love menus with pictures of the rolls!
Service has always been good. This is my sushi restaurant of choice. Parking can be hard depending on the day and time. Sushi bar is pretty small. I think they have around 8 seats however they have regular seating too.

I ordered two Philadelphia rolls and the mussel appetizer and they were both delicious!
I had to order over the phone and it was a little hard without a menu, but thank goodness for the pictures on Unilocal.Unfortunately, the prices had changed and I did not know that. The only problem I would have is that their prices are a little high for their rolls, but maybe I’m just accustomed to bay area prices where it is much cheaper.
But even so, I would order from them again to get my Philadelphia roll fix!

When we walked into the restaurant it was about 8pm on a Saturday. I was not impressed by the numerous dirty tables and lack of décor. Literally no personality to this place it feels somewhat like a hospital cafeteria. Uncomfortable chairs, harsh lighting, Depressive staff.
Due to the lack of customers I was hoping we could get them to clear off one of the THREE dirty tables that were looking out too the Main Street. NOPE! Due to their policy they reserve the tables for party’s of 3 or more. Which I would completely understand if there was only one but there was more than enough space for them to accommodate us. We were then escorted to the table closest to the bathrooms. Half way through our meal they began sitting the tables we asked for with parties of two. Which was just down right rude.
We then stared at our menus as not one but Three people asked for our drink order which didn’t even show for another 10 minutes. First my sake, then 2 minutes later his beer, then 5 minutes later our waters.
At this point we weren’t sure who our server was. When we finally got our order in it came out piece by piece. Normally I wouldn’t mind since sushi is a great sharing dish. But we ordered everything at once tonight to hopefully speed this already terrible experience.
The prices were lower than the standard which was a nice surprise. The sake was warm and the rolls were very nicely executed. A little variety in the sauce and presentation would make the food that much better.
Over all I would not recommend this sushi place. I’d prefer to pay a little extra per roll for a little atmosphere and customer service.

Great sushi, great service! Get to know Aha Sushi and you will experience delicious food at reasonable prices. We ordered the Burrito, Sunset, Albacore Tataki, Kamikaze and Soft Shell Crab.
All of it was prepared fresh and sauces complimented them completely. Overall, a great experience at Aha Sushi. :D

I’ve been to Aha! Sushi twice now and the two experiences were very different from each other. On my latest visit, I came around dinner time and it was full of patrons. The restaurant is fairly small so expect to wait if you come during the rush hour.
I ordered the Spicy Pico and Dragon Roll, Blue Fin Tuna sashimi, and Chicken udon.
The fish is fresh and a good portion of it is given in each roll. I prefer my rolls not to be drenched in different types of sauces so it was nice to have roll selections that catered to this. During my first visit, salmon belly was available and very delicious. Unfortunately on this second trip, none was available. It looks like there isn’t consistency in the fish that they offer. I ordered the chicken udon on both occasions and again lack of consistency because on the second try, the chicken udon was not savory at all. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The broth was very salty with an addition of MSG. I ended up just eating the udon noodles and not drinking the broth. Near the end, I just couldn’t finish.
Service was also very slow, there was only one person on the floor. She was taking orders, bringing out food, and checking people out. I could tell other customers were becoming impatient since they had to flag her down to get their orders taken.
Aha! recently opened and after my first experience I had high hopes for them. They had great service, food and chefs (I sat at the bar my first time). Maybe I just picked a bad night to come. Maybe a third trip is warranted? Best out of three? We’ll see.

Came here on a Saturday night trying to explore San Clemente just a bit further. This city has never been known for its sushi such that it is not a surprise to start seeing sushi places popping up near Del Mar.
What I Had: (See pictures)
The Good:
It was late Saturday night and there was no one inside, oh well more service for us
They had Salmon belly available (my favorite)
Fish was clean and fresh but they do refrigerate causing the it to be served cold (I prefer room temperature)
Tea was fantastic — not from a tea bag
Specialty rolls are available for those with a more curious palate
Prices were in line with the amount of fish/​size of rolls
Sushi chefs had a good attitude and were very quick
The Bad:
Bland, run of the mill sushi interior
Bar seating is lackluster
Corner location right off the freeway is not ideal for a quiet date night
Good sushi in a sub par location/​interior. While this place does shine right on the corner of a very busy street, I wish they had done more to give this restaurant a more local feel. This place feels very corporate (cookie cutter).
The Question: Does this place top Taka-​o down the road? In my opinion Aha! does not live up to my expectations due to poor design choice and lack of creativity. Go to Taka-​o for the local feeling unless Aha! makes some changes.

All I can say is this place is awesome. Visiting in the area we drove by here and thought might as well as everything else, pizza, italian, pizza is not good to eat at night for me. I am so happy we stopped. My husband had 21 pieces of sushi, salmon, tuna, octopus. Now I hate octopus but thought I would try it here and it was so tender, so tasty, I really liked it. They also
Cut the pieces big with little rice which my husband likes. Most places pile on the rice with little sushi. I ordered the lobster over California rolls. Wow is all I can say. This is actually the best tasting fish I have had here so far. I would have taken a picture but I inhaled it. Told my husband we are coming back here tomorrow. I really wish they had a place like this in Phoenix. You will not be sorry if u come here.
Sept 18 update:
Back to Aha Sushi tonight because last night was so deilicious and again tonight it was amazing. Try the miso soup it is very tasty and not a lot of salt, you can taste the soup flavor. We are sure everything here is great. And because I am so in love with their food we will be back tomorrow night .And I never ever eat the same thing three or even two nights in a row. Each time we are in this area we will be eating here and letting all our friends and family know.
Service is great, very attentive and friendly.

Ordered the ‘in n out’ & appetizer. All incredible & fresh. Server understood the importance of customer experience.
