Great salads, super fast service, right on Del Mar just off of Camino Real. Really like the fresh ingredients, mostly organic. Absolutely the best iced tea — citrus green tea. The only ‘con’ is that neither of us were very full so don’t go there starving!

Went here for a casual lunch with my parents on a Thursday afternoon. It was delicious and lowkey. They have a nice casual patio with plastic chairs and a pretty inside seating area. I got the lavash wrap, which was surprisingly good. Garlicky feta, avocado, and chicken. My mom got the chinese chicken salad and my dad got the quinoa salad special. Portions were huge — my mom and I both took half of our orders home. Definitely would go back if I’m looking for a casual place to get a salad or sandwich.

I’ve been coming here for years, even before these wonderful sisters owned it, and it still my favorite place for food and coffee! The food is fresh and delicious. My favorite breakfast is the breakfast croissant with ham and my favorite soup is their chicken tortilla. All the sandwiches are delicious and I can’t seem to pick a favorite since I’m always having a different one each time! The service is sweet and friendly and both inside and outside seating areas are charming and comfortable! It’s child and dog friendly, also!!!

Café Calypso works in a pinch. I was in the area starving for breakfast and without much thought wondered into Café Calypso with nothing but hope for inspiration. After brief contemplation I decided to go with a Lox Bagel Sandwich and a coffee and that ran about $ 15.00. I had my plate within 10 minutes which went quickly thanks to free wifi. The Lox Bagel Sandwich is a very middle of the road experience on all accounts. The Smoked Salmon was moist, smoky and fork tender but the Bagel was starchy, dry and a touch overly toasted. There was far too much cream cheese employed as well. The Capers and Red Onion did their job admirably enough and all things considered, this was the mother of all 3 star breakfasts. The coffee? Also standard fare… Nothing to see here folks. Another consideration I should point out is the nearly historic feeling to the mission style hotel lobby and beautiful courtyard offering al fresco dining. That alone may be worth another visit.

Everything is so delicious. Ive been here a few times and I’ve had the breakfast sandwich, iced white chocolate mocha, fruit smoothie, breakfast bagel and waffle. There’s a great little patio to sit on with a cute water fountain. Very relaxing. Service is good too!

So, my waffles with berries and the bacon and the iced mocha were superb. Nothing fussy or fancy, just plain good. I’d love to come back, but my wife was much less satisfied, with her steamed scrambled eggs and her side of fruit(which looked good, but didnt taste good). Hopefully, I can talk her into a return. Great little charming and casual courtyard spot, too!

Loved this cute little café! The food was great, and the atmosphere was very cozy. Great central location, right in the middle of shops, and they have a very varied menus.

It was lovely to sit and enjoy breakfast in the colorful courtyard that Calypso Café is located in in the downtown area of San Clemente. Food ordered was scrambled eggs(steamed) with spinach, fresh tomatoes, avocado. They offered a yummy chipotle hot sauce that I sprinkled over the top. My daughter got an acai fruit bowl that she loved. Hubby got an everything bagel breakfast sandwich which he said was good. Coffee was good. Service was friendly and attentive. Sunday mornings there’s a street fair, so it’s a nice place to have a bite, then go meander browsing vendors wares and handmade goodies.

Always the best food! And my ultimate favorite is their acai smoothie! Yum! It’s also a perfect little spot for if you’re a fan of eating outside and people watching. You can just simply sit out on the patio, sipping coffee, watching people walk up and down Del Mar, going about their business. Plus, it’s conveniently close to all the fun little boutiques down the street!

We checked out Café Calypso for brunch with my family. It’s part of a local boutique motel in Downtown San Clemente with a nice Spanish-style flare. There is a nice outdoor sitting area to enjoy the sun or have your pet hang out with you and more indoor sitting in the back. It’s a casual restaurant where you order your food at the counter and they bring out your order to the table. They have a nice selection of waffles, omelettes, sandwiches, salads, and fruit bowls. The food was definitely tasty. My only issue is that the portions are on the small side. A nice place to stop by during your weekend stroll.

I do love the Spanish style building! The service at the counter was just ok… for noon in a Saturday it was pretty easy as far as no wait and places to sit. I’m not at all impressed by the acai bowl though… they blended it maybe? It was just a smoothie in a bowl and they didn’t put honey in it! Very disappointed in that part but it was interesting that they put Apple slices in it in addition to the usual bananas, strawberries and blueberries. Overall I’d probably go back if in the area but not for the acai I don’t think.

Cool little spot this is. It’s a little quirky as in you wait in line to order cafeteria style and they deliver your food to you. The seating is either on the patio or there are a few tables inside if it’s a little too cold which this morning was for me anyway. We went for an Easter breakfast and looking at the menu I thought the food was probably going to be «just ok» however when my Breakfast Croissant was delivered, I was pleasantly surprised. It was perfectly warmed slightly crunch on the outside and the ham was generous as was the provolone and tomato which blended together into yummy bites. I loved my sandwich. My husband chose the waffles and he gave me a bite — they were warm and had just enough syrup, whipped cream and fresh strawberries. The guys had the Breakfast Bagel and the Breakfast Sandwich. These are picky eaters and they both commented several times how much they enjoyed their food. They have many other items available and lots of coffee drinks. We saw some folks enjoying acai and pitaya(dragon fruit) bowls which looked really good so next time we will definitely try those. All in all it’s a homey place not fancy but the food is very good.

There’s nothing particularly special about this place, and it’s definitely nothin’ fancy, but it’s a great little spot. I love that it’s dog-friendly outside. There is a bowl of water for the pups AND a tin with dog treats! It’s also very kid-friendly. You don’t have to worry about the little ones annoying other diners because everyone here knows it’s a laid-back spot. If you want frills, go elsewhere. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. They have a great selection of soups, sandwiches, and wraps. There are plenty of veggie options. I got the veggie wrap. Great size. I will definitely come back here for a quick, casual breakfast or lunch.

Food: 3 Stars at most. Came here on Valentines Day for brunch and ordered the breakfast special. Just your typical bowl of fruit, some scrambled eggs, and your choice of a croissant or toast. I’m not really a picky eater so I didn’t care either way. If you’re hungry or have an appetite, this isn’t a dish I would recommend. However the vibe was super chill. They are dog friendly and even have bowls of water laying around for them. I thought this was super awesome since we did have our dog with us. Plus 1 star!
