Fun dive bar atmosphere filled with locals and about 75% Marines on the night I went. I’ve got one of my own but if you were interested this would be a place to prowl. Live music was awesome, there’s a pool table and an awkwardly located second bar in the back. It’s a chill place generally and they are not too aggressive at the door or anything — although the bouncers have that look of baby sitting toddlers — again, probably a result of the boys off the base nearby. I saw a guy walking around just drinking our of a whole pitcher of beer. LOL. So laidback, yeah, that’s the word. Bathrooms are back by the pool table Dart game has… no darts. Lame. but hey, I’m glad the guy walking around with the pitcher didn’t get to play with them. Bartenders are cool

Fun for dancing and pool! There’s a live band and their bathrooms are usually clean. It gets decently busy on the weekends, and usually full of Cougars(but hey, if that’s your thing). Bartenders and bouncers are friendly, and it’s a pretty good space. I haven’t tried any food here. Overall, I’ve enjoyed the few times I’ve been here!

Always packed with Marines on the weekend, security guards are dicks and the live bands always suck. But it’s close and a place to get hammered so even though it sucks I’ll go back a couple more times until EAS. If you’re a woman who wants some dick go here on the weekends and you will be successful 10⁄10 times. Averages 1 – 2 fights per night so beware for that.

Total marine and older adult bar. Live band was cool. If you’re a young marine trying to pick up cougar this is the place for you.

Way too many OC douchebags. Lots of fighting and trashy people. Walked in… looked around. Walked out. Don’t come here if you get claustrophobic.

stumbled in here and ended up having a great time. The band was fun, just talking and enjoying ourselves.

This was the first bar we went to when we moved into town over 5 years ago and we met our first friend, Lori. She is the best bartender! We have been friends ever since. Friendly and fun! Customers are all laid back. Great place for a great drink!

Goodys Tavern will work if you are looking for a dive bar to imbibe at within San Clemente’s famous local drinking«triangle». San Clem seems to offer two drinking experiences off of Del Mar and El Camino Real and they are polar opposites. Nick’s, South of Nick’s, Vine and the their brethren offer clean, modern and upscale digs with robust menus fitting of OC’s burgeoning Gastropub scene. Then there is Goody’s, Olé’s Tavern, Nomad’s and Dukes; which largely rounds up the nosebleed dive bar circuit. Goody’s is your typical dive complete with bouncers. Cheap drinks, friendly bartenders(until you start a fistfight, that is) and loud live music. Very loud music. Scream into each other’s face loud in fact. Goody’s clientele seems to made up of local surfers, aged punkers and wasted Marines blowing off steam; all of whom aim to get laid and largely accomplish that goal by night end from what I could tell. People watching and dancing are the favorite past time hobbies and the testosterone in the air can literally be smelled. Let’s face it, Goody’s isn’t my scene whatsoever. But it may be yours and if this crowd and action attracts you, Goody’s may be your mecca.

First time here and so surprised at how much fun it was!!! The live band rocked, their pool table is a little bit secluded which is nice so you’re not constantly asking people to bump over a seat or two. Busy bar, fast service. Love!

I’ll start off with the fact I showed up at noon and I was the only person in the building beside the bartender. That being said, the bartender was nice and friendly. Ordered a beer and played golden tee. Bathrooms need work. If it was around 11pm on a Friday night I’m sure it would be the place to be for sure.

This place is hilarious. I can’t really say anything badly about the service or the place in general. How can you review a place lower because you think the patrons are rude? And how can you give it a low review or say«a bunch of drunk so and so’s»??? It is a BAR. or… sorry… a tavern. A place where people go to drink. That’s like saying«I hate this laundromat because there are a bunch of people here doing their laundry!!!» This place is basically a fun time for us to go people watch. There are some random regulars that go here, and the cover bands almost EVERY time make my buddies and me say to one another: «we need to start a cover band» because, sorry, they are usually not the best. But, whatever… this place is kind of a dive and they do that well.

This place is run by thugs and a unprofessional owner all the bouncers are rude and seem high or drunk. Place is full of rude drunk marines!

The bouncers here are really rude. They only care about people who know the owners. They did not care that people threatened us just for sitting in their seats. I will never come back here. It’s a run down dive bar with horrible staff.

Great energy and vibe! Love this place, especially on live music night. Owner is a nice lady and keeps her cool with the chaos that can erupt from time to time.

Awesome night out with friends. Drinks are made very well and bar staff is friendly, despite the atmosphere other people have mentioned in their reviews. Always some good music in the background.

Even before I knew how the place was spelled, Goodys seemed like a bit of a redneck bar. This impression was reinforced throughout the night when: 1) I watched a man in the parking lot apparently discuss his civil liberties with an officer as said officer approached his pickup. The discussion ended with him in the back of a squad car and a note on his pickup truck informing a friend where to find his keys. [potential lot parking advice in this anecdote] 2) I asked about prices for the bottled beers being sold away from the bar. Me: How many bottles of beer can I get for $ 20? Waitress: Um, six? Me: Good deal. Waitress: Wait… five. Sorry, I counted wrong. [COUNTED? Really?] 3) A complete stranger slapped me on the back and started a conversation Stranger: Hey what’s you’re name? Me: Josh Stranger: Well Josh, you’re an a**hole. But I like you. [full disclosure, I might be kind of an a**hole] All that said, the place does have a distinctive style and character. If you go out in San Clemente, there are exactly three bars. Odds are, like me, you will go to all three. Of the three, this is the one I found most memorable. If you like freedom, fairly inexpensive drinks, and a crowd with a slight military edge, this is the bar for you.
