Brought my doggy out for a walk here. Parked on Paseo de Linda and walked over to 4s Ranch Parkway after exploring the park next to the elementary school. It’s so peaceful an squirt here, being a Saturday morning, there was no school traffic and folks were out biking, jogging or dog walking. The pathway runs on either side of 4s Ranch Parkway, between Rancho Bernardo and Paseo de Linda, and isn’t a hiking trail, it’s a sidewalk and there is plenty of grass in the middle for kids to run around on and benches to sit at and rest. And there are even some play areas, ie: a small golf area, an area to play horseshoes, tables to play checkers/chess. There’s a pergola at about the middle of it with drinking fountains. You will find doggie stations around it, with waste bags for your convenience. It’s a crying shame that I still found large poop piles on the grass. Shame on you, irresponsible dog owners.

I’ve walked mi doggy here several times. She really likes the trail. It’s a good walk around. The only issue I have are the poop bombs left on the trail. Please pick up your dogs’ poo or at the very least, move the poo off the dirt trail. Thanks! OK?

This is one of my Urban Hiking spot. There is a walking path on 4S Ranch Parkway between Rancho Bernardo Rd(aka 4S Ranch Plaza) and Paseo de Linda(Monterey Elementary). The overall loop is half-a mile, just enough for the towing kiddos. The loop is around a very long rectangle flanked by north and south bound lanes of 4S Ranch Pkwy. It’s called parkway, but the traffic is slow like on a suburban street. There are numerous benches(every 15 – 20 steps) placed all over for resting along the path. There even is a horse-shoe pit and a mini-golf putting green. WE parked at the junction of 4S Ranch Pkwy and Paseo de Linda, then I convinced my kid to walk along the west edge of the green going north — but then turned back on Camino San Thomas and to the Patriot Park near Monterey Elementary( ). It’s a new playground, has some newer playstructures, but lack the usual swings and slides which made my kid a bit disappointed. Well, we walked back going north on 4S Ranch Pkwy, this time, all the way to 4 S Plaza. My kid had a bagel from Ralphs and I had coffee from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf kiosk inside the store. We sat on one of the numerous benches around the plaza, finished, did people-watching and walked back to our car. It was a fun one hour urban hiking trip. Will be doing this many many times again. Especially if it is cloudy and cooler like this morning — I hate being toasted in sun.
