I’ve eaten at Adam’s steak and eggs many times over the years and have always thought it was just average, maybe a small step above Denny’s or Rudford’s. Oh and I also have eaten at their sister restaurant next door Albie’s beef in and it was also very mediocre and overpriced.

Service was food was below par. I ordered medium rare and got medium well. My fist was bigger than the steak. Parts of the grits were still solid.

Great place for breakfast. Cocktails are even available here in the morning. Great variety of breakfast choices, American, Mexican, and French if you count their crepes. Service is friendly and pretty quick considering this place is always packed.

My husband loves this place but I didn’t. I mean, it was good for basic breakfast but it wasn’t crazy good. Inexpensive, yes. Top quality? The eggs were very buttery and although some people love that, it drained the actual egg flavor. Corn fritters are alright. Pretty good but not brag worthy. It’s very basic. The hostess is not very attentive unless you’re a cute man she can flirt with. The gentleman that stands next to her notices that so he’s very attentive where she is lacking. Spacing is a bit cramped. To sit more people but too many times have the waiters dropped some trays or bumped a table and spilled a drink. It’s a nice place for Sunday morning breakfast with kids or family. Unfortunately, they will be closing by the end of the month.

Been frequenting Adams since 1970. First Steak and Eggs after Boot Camp… As good as it gets. Sad that you are closing. I’ll miss Albies too.

It’s all about the Ramos Fizz. Same dude has been making these here for @20 years. Hardly anyone in town can make this amazing cocktail anymore(maybe no one; just trying to be optimistic). Huevos Rancheros are solid. The service is perfect. Ramos Fizzes are completely delicious. This place is set to close December 23, so I highly recommend getting in here before they close their doors.

Quality food, excellent service, quick seating, and a central location. I’m sorry to see this place go next month as it’s always been a great place to fall back on.

Lousy Service Plus Nickel and Diming! Never mind the lousy service, the dude at the cash register asked how many cups of coffee I have had & how were the eggs cooked. The item I ordered was $ 11.95, by the time he added up extra coffee and way eggs were cooked, my bill was $ 17.02. Are you kidding me??? I wouldn’t have minded as much if I had good service and food. Rest assured I will Never be back again.

Older than I want to say 80% of all of San Diego’s population. This place has been serving up breakfasts before it was cool. When breakfast was the big meal and lunch was just supposed to get you to supper. Yeah Supper. I’ve been sitting on this review for a few years and with the terrible news of their closing I figured this would be my homage. Before I go into the dish that shares their name I’ll talk about their other favorites. Corn Fritters is part sweet and part savory, fried and a great base for add on’s. French toast uses sour dough which to me sounds probably more OG seeing as they’ve been open since 62. It’s not my cup of tea because I like some general sweetness before I drawn in syrup. Omelets are perfect and though only 3 eggs these fresh ranch eggs are substantial. Farmers with the applies on the side is kind of the kitchen sink variety. Fresh flour tortilla’s with all. Apple peach burrito is a portable pie and something no one in SD does. Belgian Waffle is kind of meh. They are way to traditional to offer all this new age breakfast bowls. Love the Corn Beef Hash n’ Eggs because they poach them as standard Steak & Eggs. OK I’ll admit the price is off putting considering steak & eggs in Vegas is half the price. Vegas is the exception though and unfair to a degree, but the Choice grade sirloin is fresh, beefy for sirloin and thick. Cooked anyway you want. Thought I forgot where I was 1 time when I ordered au poivre and got death stares. Go rare and get your eggs over easy, crack fresh pepper and get a few corn fritters for a meal you won’t forget. I myself have been coming here for 20 years(ok the first 10 I was«taken» here) and feel bad now that they are closing that I didn’t come more often in favor of other more«hip» joints. The crowd is very local and the service is good, a little step up from typical diners. Price is not the best, but the quality and history are unmatched. They use the biggest egg’s in the county. Décor is aging, but not quite in that antique décor of say a Riviera Supper Club. So long S&E, you will be missed. San Diego will be lost without you. An Eve without it’s Adam.

If you have time to wait an hour or two, this is the place for you. This visit was the worst I have experienced here. Maybe a bad day, but ruined the thrill of bringing people here. Was told a 15 min. wait, put my name on the list for a seat, and as suggested waited in the west wing room til called. Found another family waiting as well. So 25 minutes passed, the other family was seated and I checked on our status. The comment I got was, «We just sat your party. This wasn’t you?» I guess my veins popped, or face turned red with steam coming out my ears, or my OMG locked glare kicked in… something because the guy was very apologetic and seemed to find our group a seat as I held back my frustration standing in the crowded line now and watching others being seated. So we went to sit down at a corner table that was clearly too squished for our big boned group, but heck we sat down. First glance, 4 out of 5 mugs turned over on the table had coffee drips all over the outside, as if pulled out of a coffee bath and air dried. were they not cleaned? I kept the, hopefully, only clean mug and asked for coffee and my husband asked for water. The gal comes back to the table with a splash of coffee and grounds in the pot. Poured it all in my cup, filling 1⁄8 of the cup. I tried stopping her by pointing at the grounds as she poured away. Even though she saw the grounds going in my cup with the drip of coffee, she says, «Oh there’s no grounds, but I’ll go put a new pot on.» Our mouths dropped at the outright non-honesty and watched her wander away to wherever. Another several minutes go by, the buser took the 4 dirty mugs off our table. Server eventually comes back to the table for our order. Still no coffee, no water. We gave an order, but after about 5 minutes, my husband was sick to his stomach, feeling… with the dirty dishes and grounds in coffee being told there was no grounds in the cup… he didn’t want to suffer from food poisoning or anything. We upped and left. I did let the host know why we chose to leave and I’m sure she could catch our order before the server gives it to the cooks with as slow as the waitress is. Ok, not nice, but come on… a coffee cup of grounds and expected to drink it. I guess we were left alone too long to think it thru and actually leave. Unfortunate. I used to like this place. Our group was probably the unlucky group of the day or the place is going down hill, not sure. Other people around us seemed unhappy too but dealing with it. Maybe eat here during the week first and see if it’s your thing. This visit was on the weekend, but we did arrive before a major crowd. The corn fritters are their specialty and in the past was awesome!

Every time I come to San Diego, I make sure to visit this restaurant. Their food is consistently delicious, tastes home made. The décor is a time warp, but you don’t come here for that. If you want fru-fru gourmet, go elsewhere. If you want a hearty, satisfying breakfast, this is your place. My favorite menu item is the corned beef hash. Order your potatoes extra crispy, and sourdough toast, and you’ll be in heaven!

Had chicken fried steak. It was ok. I give it a 2 stars out of 5. Service was ok. Definitely had better service and food. Also if you have kids be prepared they don’t have a kids menu. Just an fyi. There’s this waffle spot next to them. That place was delicious!

I’ve been here twice and I never knew they had a patio! I definitely took advantage of that this trip. My friend and I shared a little pitcher of mimosas. I always have a great service here and I look forward to coming back again and again.

«Open since 1962» is all the recommendation needed. My Dad took us here many years ago and it remains his favorite. After many years away, we visited with our own kids on a rainy Sunday morning. The food, especially the Corn fritters, was excellent! Hot and fresh and served with care and grace. Stephanie was our server and she was so professional. She seemed to be there when we needed her as if she were a precognitive saint. That girl will go far! Everyone! Go to Adam’s but not in the days we are going. This princess doesn’t like to wait! Yummy, old school steak and eggs.

This place is vintage :) As in Sam & Dean Winchester would LOVE this joint :) It looks like a dive when you walk in and it is connected to a hotel, so it does stay busy. The joint was clean and the staff was friendly though. Food — They have a good selection to choose from. We just ate there for breakfast. Though it was good enough for us to go back for a second time :) Coffee — It was good. A nice brew, not too strong but not weak. Coffee is important ;) First breakfast — 2 corn cakes with scrambled eggs Second breakfast — Hashbrowns, 2 eggs sunny side up, rye toast, sausage Yummy :)

You have to respect a place that’s been open since 1962. They must be doing something right. I’ve lived in SD for most of my life, driven buy hundreds of time and had never set foot in here. The restaurants itself takes you back to the 60−70s era with dark wood paneling, old art and vinyl seating. I don’t mind because it’s clean and tidy. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. I ordered the California Olé omelette. Eggs were fluffy and filled with bacon, Jack cheese and guacamole… It didn’t disappoint. From my experience and what I could see Adams is a good place for a traditional style breakfast and service. I would not hesitate to come back again. FYI if you are a Huevos Rancheros purist don’t order them here. You have been warned.

Wow! Unilocalers with love this place or hate this place! Well… here is one more opinion. Breakfast this morning was #22 — Corned Beef and Hash, poached egg with sour dough toast and coffee.(Yes, canned Corned Beef — like most places) FYI — Lots of people seem to be ordering the Cinnamon roll so I assume it is good. It is Hugh! Inside is very clean and nice but very retro! See pics. A good place to go! I found they have good food and good service. I would recommend that you give this place a try because I think you will enjoy it. When you go in — tell them that Chris from Unilocal recommended you go there. They will have no idea who the hell I am but it might provide some interesting entertainment and a good laugh or two! Enjoy!
