This restaurant is closed indefinitely! We stopped by for brunch today and one of the staff members from 57 degrees told us that they recently were bought out and they were closed probably for the next few months!

Allegro is set to be a star on the San Diego restaurant circuit. Seated adjacent to the already popular wine bar and store across from Mission Brewery Plaza at the foot of Washington Street, light and bright décor amp up the mood for this unique breakfast/lunch spot. I wouldn’t have given notice but for Groupon. Searching the Website for a new taste, I found the advertisement for Allegro. Once I opened the Unilocal app and looked at the reviews, I knew the restaurant was a must try for me. The reviews for Allegro are glowing. What peaked my interest though, were the multitude of reviewers raving about the eggs; of poached eggs described as «pillows», perfect sauces. Hmm. I ordered the Picasso Benedict because I am NOT a big egg fan. Sure I’ll have a couple on rare occasion, but I can do without. A well prepared poached egg, paired with a hollandaise or variation of the theme, takes technique. High volume restaurants rarely have the time or resources. Allegro’s Benedict is exquisite. I have thought about it the entire week, and tried to go there today for another round(closed). The poached eggs: beautiful oval pillows. The sauce gently seasoned and portioned. WOW! I chose salad instead of potatoes-best choice, along with a latte and cranberry juice. Service was prompt and conversational. Easy parking. See above for location, located on a one-way street. Egg lovers hole-in-one!

This is amazing place for both breakfast/brunch & bloody marys! And their dog friendly patio is spaced amply so I can slowly acclimate my rescue dog to being in public with strangers, being around food & other dogs. It is the perfect place with consistently delicious dishes & a cool and accommodating staff. Don’t stand in line for an hour for so-so food. Come check out Allego Bistro with your 4 legged bff

Live nearby and thrilled to have a new brunch place within walking distance. They’re still pretty new so I planned to give them some leeway to work out any kinks. We ordered the chilaquiles and a frittata. Both excellent. The only drawback was it did take some time to get our food, and drinks weren’t refilled while we waited, but I’m not going to take off for this as explained above — not to mention we chose to sit outside and we were the only table there, the inside was full so I understand if it would take more effort to check on the fools who decided to sit alone outside :) The manager, Brian, came over as we finished and thanked us for coming, explained they are hoping to open for dinner on weekends after the new year. Yay! Count us in!

Cool place I checked out while waiting to pick the folks up from the cruiseship terminal located nearby. Watch the door coming in! The cilantro crêpe paloma was recommended. I am glad I asked. Perfectly draped in mole — not too much and not too little. The chicken was tender enough to cut with a fork. Delicious. They serve a great cup of coffee as well.

Decided to try this place for breakfast and my girlfriend and I were both very impressed. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant, really cool décor and great service. I ordered the Picasso Benedict and she ordered the breakfast enchiladas(can’t remember the name on the menu). The Benedict was fantastic — made with fresh bread, moist black forest ham, grilled tomatoes and an amazing chipotle hollandaise sauce that was so rich and smokey and topped with fresh avocado. The breakfast potatoes were a perfect complement to the dish — well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The breakfast enchiladas were great too(had to steal a bite). Fresh corn tortillas, eggs and chorizo with a black bean purée on top. Oh yeah and the coffee was the best Ive had at breakfast in San Diego. The portions are just right for breakfast and the price is right.

I came here with my boyfriend for some brunch because I bought us a groupon to use. I love how the place is decorated, it’s also connected to another business which share a parking lot in the back. I love how everything is white and clean. I got the Lox Royale because I love my benny’s and smoked salmon, but I wasn’t impressed or thrilled. It sure looked nice, but I wasn’t a fan of the flavors. I also got Iced Chai Moto, and it was too cinnamon-y. My boyfriend’s choices however, were AMAZING and I was seriously jealous. He got the Picasso benny and that chipotle hollandaise sauce is LIT! I kept eyeing his plate hoping he’d offer me more… but I knew he wasn’t going to. And the blueberry lemonade he got was perfect! I keep telling him we have to go back so I can get EXACTLY what he ordered the last time.

Went here off a suggestion from a friend with a Groupon deal. Since it was a beautiful San Diego day, we chose to eat outside. Both the cushioned chairs and the wooden benches are comfortable. They have shades that cover most of the seating area so there is just enough sun peaking through. It was a little windy, and they put paper on the tables, so be prepared to weigh the paper down with the potted plants and drinks. There are some flies that buzz around, but that’s to be expected when eating outside. Service is friendly and fast. We went on both a Saturday and a Sunday around 12:30 pm and didn’t have to wait for a seat. We also found parking right out front both times. The food was super yummy. The first visit my husband really enjoyed his Truffle Omelette. I was craving an enchilada, so the Enfrijoladas(Breakfast Enchadas) really hit the spot. I got mine without onions and with Chorizo. The second visit, my husband got the Enfrijoladas since he liked mine the first time. I got the Cilantro Crêpe Paloma, which was highly recommended by the staff. The mole sauce has a nice subtle flavor but it tasted better with a little hot sauce splashed on top. I really enjoy the freshness of the food. It’s light and flavorful, and left us extremely satisfied.

Well, it’s inevitable. I’ll admit with great shame that I’ve refrained from leaving a review for Allegro Bistro in fear that it will grow into another one of Hillcrest’s very successful brunch spots, with lengthy weight times, filled to the brim with loud, giddy patrons. It’s selfish I know, but if you’ve been there now you’d understand that the space is pretty big, with great patio seating. I’ve been here three times now within the last couple of months and each and every time has been perfect. The chilaquiles is delicious, if not made forgettable by the truffle omelet. Two out of three times, I’ve had the mind to stray from the omelet and haven’t been successful. I just ordered other breakfast items on the side. Sharing is definitely caring, especially when my partner is involved. We’ve had the lemon ricotta pancakes, which is perfect, coming from someone who doesn’t choose citrus-based flavors all that much. The blue omelet is stuffed to the gills with crab, and there is no question about portion sizes. French toast was as it should be – griddled top with a custard-like center that avoids being mush. I don’t know how they do it. Timed dunks in the milk/egg bath? I took my girls here for bottomless mimosas during Easter. We were the loudest table by far, but they were incredibly accommodating and didn’t make us feel at all unwelcome. We drank our weight in champagne – they even told us that staff had to run to the store to stock up in the middle of our rounds. In short, Allegro Bistro is my favorite brunch spot in San Diego, and I can only hope that they keep a low profile for just a while longer so that I may waltz in with no fuss, and bask on their warm patio to enjoy my mimosas and coffee in peace.

More like a 3.5 but they serve fruit so 4! It’s about time 57 degrees shared this front patio space! I always wondered about their patio area, it was huge enough to fit a smaller restaurant and a brunch/breakfast place is just the right thing! After a night of going out(seriously what’s new?) I should just start with the sentence«hung over.» Anyway, Betsy and I decided to grab brunch here before heading out to the beach. There was also a groupon for it and that made our probability to eat here even better. We both got Benedicts, I got the ham bene and it was decent. It ain’t no snooze but good enough and no wait. The ham was a bit thinner then I liked. The best thing was they let you have fruit as a side as oppose to charging extra! I also got a Bloody Mary which they aren’t licensed for hard alcohol, it was soju. It was indeed weak… But good for what it is.

The day was hot and the hangover was heavy. We stumbled here for the morning after meal and the waiter seemed to understand where we were coming from. The food was amazing as was the service. The beautiful outdoor patio made way for a nice Saturday morning breeze to pass through and rays from the sun to shine on our meals. I had the Picasso: Two poached eggs served on toasted toast with black forest Ham and tomatoes topped with Chipotle hollandaise sauce & avocado. I’m not big on spicy food so call me a wuss when it comes to the sauce but that had a kick. So good though. Full of flavor. They also have Groupon deals and coupons on regular basis so nothing should be stopping you from trying this place out. Ch-Ch-Check it out!

The restaurant is well hidden in Mission hills, overshadowed by the local bar 57 degree. I’ve been to the bar several times and love it, but havent ever tried the foods at the restaurant. Then I saw a Groupon with a 4.5 starts Unilocal review and decided to check the place out. It’s a very cute restaurant with great deco and ambience. There is outdoor patio with cute overhead shades. It’s just a very cute place for brucnh that can accommodate a big group. Since the location isn’t ideal, the restaurant was slow, and we got seated right away. The waiter was friendly, the menu was simple and straight forward. Prices are slightly less compared to those in Hillcrest. I’ve ordered their most famous item Piscasso, which is 2 poached eggs in top of bread and ham. The fish was delicious. My bf got a simple egg and sausage and the sausage was great. We were satisfied with the foods and the service and would definitely recommend people to come. If you want cute Brunch place with great foods and services at an affordable price, and ample of parking, Def check thus place out

My husband and I tried Allegro Bistro at the recommendation of a good friend. We were not disappointed. I had chilaquiles, and he had an omelette. The atmosphere is very clean, with nice background music. The wait staff are friendly, attentive, and the food was excellent! We will definitely be back for more.

I stopped in Allegro for brunch on a Sunday morning and ordered the Picasso Benedict’s which came with Two Poached Eggs served on toasted French Batard with black forest ham and grilled organic tomato topped with house chipotle Hollandaise sauce and fresh sliced avocado. The Bennies also came with a side of house breakfast potatoes. The Benedict’s were quite the handsome dish when they arrived. The Chipotle had an irresistible orange thick yet silky Hollandaise. I asked the eggs to be poached at a medium temp. They were a little more runny than I wanted but were still within the confines of what I like. The egg yolks had a very good rich quality flavor. The chipotle Hollandaise was nice and came with a mild kick, great pepper flavor, and a creamy viscosity. I found the French Batard toasted bread underneath to be rather interesting in a good way of course. The bread not only had good flavor, but also nice texture and held up will to the ingredients above it. The black forest ham was good, but I would appeciate if they would cut it up in small pieces and stack them atop of each other for easier eating. The house potatoes were great. The were tender to the touch, were well seasoned, and tasted very good. The meal was no doubt successful and so was the service. The gents were well mannered and attentive with their service.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this spot. Although it’s near a busy street and the freeway it has a very relaxed vibe. The outdoor patio is great for enjoying the sunshine. I ordered eggs and the fruit, my husband ordered the breakfast that comes with soyrizo, eggs and potatoes. I was a bit disappointed with my fruit bowl as it said on the menu that it comes with granola and honey. Mine was missing these two ingredients but we were charged for the bowl rather than the side of fruit anyway. My husbands potatoes weren’t that great either. They seemed to be boiled then pan fried but we’re undercooked and a weird texture. I like the service an ambiance though so would just order something different next time. They have some good happy hour deals so I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Another great new San Diego hot spot! Plenty of free parking, no long wait to be seated(we sat immediately on a Saturday morning), friendly staff, reasonable prices, hip and trendy décor, great eclectic food, AND kid friendly… all that equals 5 stars to me! Vegan, vegetarian and organic options available… another plus! Breakfast: Lemon and Ricotta Pancakes, $ 8.75 Served with vanilla mascarpone and house marmalade The pancakes itself was very flavorful. You can pick between a fruit side or potatoes. I picked potatoes but I wish it came with both, because it needed some fruit on top. Lox Royale, $ 11.95 Two poached Eggs on toasted French Batard w/Smoked Salmon, Goat Cheese, Chives, Capers & Red Onions Another tasty dish, but I was a little disappointed that the eggs were overcooked, and not on the runny side. Picasso, $ 9.95 Two poached eggs served on toasted French Batard with black forest ham and grilled organic tomato. Topped with house chipotle Hollandaise sauce & fresh avocado My favorite breakfast dish I tried. The chipotle Hollandaise sauce has great little kick to it – I would definitely order this again! The eggs were cooked perfectly too :) In addition, I love the Ikea thick colored pencils on the table(and the paper table cover the kids can draw on)…kept my toddler occupied for a little while while we could eat! To be honest, we were originally going to have breakfast at Snooze, but didn’t want to wait in line, so found this place on Unilocal.I’m glad we tried something new… you should too!

Completely revising my review from before. I was hoping this place would improve over time. I gave them the benefit of the doubt with 4 stars previously being a new place and having added dinner. However, the service has NOT improved and seems to have only gotten worse and so has the quality of the food(referencing breakfast here). We went again to Allegro on Sunday despite several protests from a few in our party not to go. Of course as usual, the service was SLOW and they constantly forgot our order. The few occupied tables around us were complaining about the slow or lack-there-of service and the table behind us even told the family that had just sat down next to us they should be warned as everything was taking a long time. The family sat down but after 30MINUTES of a server not even coming by to bring them water let alone take a drink or food order, they left. I felt sorry for them as they had two young children with them too. It took them a while to even take our order too and some of the drinks didn’t even come out until AFTER the food arrived, which was another long wait in itself. All the food came out at seperate times and I can’t even tell you how many times we had to ask for water refills or ketchup/hot sauce with my request being ignored. Eventually I had to get up and go inside the restaurant and ask at the counter for these things and our waiter came up to give me the most baffled look in the world like why was I even in here for these things? Anyways, the truffle omelet I normally order and which is usually pretty good had the oddest rough texture and was not appetizing at all. lets just say a few of us experienced a not so fun time in the bathroom later in the evening after eating this food. This place did not have great service to begin with and has only gone downhill in all aspects. Save yourself the effort and go to an excellent brunch spot just a few miles up the road in Hillcrest/Mission Hills.

Allegro Bistro came up in Unilocal as an acceptable place to eat a early morning breakfast on Sunday. The place opened at 7am and I showed up around 730, there is a lot of parking on the street, but even more around the corner( ). I was greeted by the only server who was there at the time, the place was pretty dead, nobody else there. The restaurant looked very nice, very clean and tables were setup rather neat. After looking over the menu, there wasn’t a huge amount of variety but I decided on a omelette and a pancake on the side. The custom omelette I ordered only came with four allowed ingredients( ) which for me was avocado, bacon, onion and tomatoes. The omelette was cooked very well along with fresh tasting ingredients, even though it tasted great it wasn’t the most filling omelette in my opinion. The side salad of mixed greens were quite refreshing. Instead of getting potatoes on the side, I opted for some black beans, which came out on a separate plate( ) which tasted pretty good. Their toast, which they refer to as artisan bread( ) wasn’t my favorite, decided not to even try to finish it. The pancakes here are great( ), they are light, fluffy and perfectly circular, I have no clue how they get them so damn perfect looking. They cover them with a scoop of vanilla mascarpone, which was awesome. The mascarpone was a way better addition to the pancakes than butter could ever be, very creamy texture to it. Allegro Bistro provided me with a good tasty breakfast, everything tasted great except their toast. Their prices are kinda high for me, not a very good place to get breakfast a lot. I also like their coffee selection, no one can say no to some Café Moto in the morning.

This place was smaller than expected, but there is a nice outside patio in front of 57 degrees! They have a parking lot in the back, but we had no problem finding a spot right in front. We initially sat inside where the walls and décor were all white with a few Christmas decorations, but opted for the patio instead. They brought out some colored pencils and a white paper tablecloth to draw on. I ordered the Picasso benedict with a spring mix salad and my boyfriend got the Italian Sunrise omelet with house potatoes, artisan toast, and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. We didn’t have to wait to long for our food and everything was delicious! I especially liked how they made the potatoes– crispy and flavorful. The prices are very reasonable and the portions were just right. The staff are friendly and clearly trying to make their customers happy. I recommend trying this place! Good ambiance, easy parking, and no brunch line!

So the fact that this place already had 5 star reviews before it was even open kind of irritated me. You’re busted, I caught you flubbing your rating. BUT, I’m a gracious man and I’ll rate you off of your service, food and atmosphere like the Unilocaly Elite that I am. Atmosphere is absoultely fantastic, the clean white walls and decorations gave me a French type vibe. There is plenty of room here to come as a group and a fantastic outdoor seating area. Service was top notch and I don’t have a single complaint. The menu is the perfect size, I was expecting the usual«we’re just testing our menu» excuse but it has all of the usual yummy breakfast food that you would desire. Omelets, pancakes, french toast, benedict, etc. I can tell that they use fresh ingredients because picking out every single taste is easy to do. Oh, the omelets are cooked the best way. Folded, instead of cooked all together like a casserole. Potatoes were great and seasoned perfectly. There really isn’t anything I would change about Allegra except I would like to personally pressure them to get their liquor license so they can start serving mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. Let’s be honest, you agree.
