I thought I liked this place. I just took a bite of my last rolled taco and bit down on something sharp. I just pulled a half broken toothpick out of my mouth. How does that even happen? Going to get our money back now.

I’ve gone here several times since moving to Santee in November. The service is always friendly, and I love the $ 4.99 daily specials. They do charge an additional fee for using a card, so make sure you factor that into your total.

The food is descent not great not horrible. The prices are a little higher then other taco shops in the area. Why only one star, the service there’s never a line when we come because lets face it there is why better taco shops in the area. So why does our food take so long to come out? I think the lady who you order your food is also the one who has to go in the back and cook it. I’m reminded why I don’t come here often and I will remind myself to keep driving by the next time I need a taco shop.

New management… use to be better. At least when you ordered something it was right. It cost way to much for ordinary taco shop food. There are so many other good choices in Santee. The only advantage this place has is a drive through.

I see so many bad reviews about this place. But it all depends what you order. Not all taco shops are cook and taste the same. But they do have really good fish tacos and adobada mini tacos are good as well. It is kind of pricey for the burritos but I don’t order that. The girl who took my order was polite, friendly, and smiled. I will be back for more fish tacos and adobada tacos!

I give this taco shop 3 stars only because they tend to be slow to serve. The drive-thru is a bonus and gets food service priority. The many salsa choices are nice. They are all hot! Food is decent. However if you want nachos, they only come with shredded cheese sprinkled atop guacamole. It’s not bad. But also not the top of my favorites list. I do really like the guacamole, it’s always fresh. Tip: use the drive thru.

Horrible, horrible. 2nd time attempting this taco shop, gets worse every time! I honestly don’t think they know how to cook Mexican food. Unbelievable! Attempted a simple breakfast burrito the other day and I took one bite into odd concoction of eggs, herb scalloped potatoes(I am serious herb scalloped potatoes) so gross!!! The bacon was cheap end chunks cross between ham. I was so irritated threw the entire mess away. How this place stays open is beyond me! Will never go back~ don’t waste your time or money

I ate at Alberto’s for my first time today. Using the drive through, i ordered a California burrito with no pico de gallo. I never pay attention when they tell me my total before i pull up to the window– it’s usually not a problem because at most establishments, the person in charge of the drive through will repeat the total before you hand them your payment. This was not the case today, the woman just said hello, took my card and swiped, and asked if i wanted a receipt. Being the thoughtful person that i am, ive been trying to save paper/plastic everywhere possible so i politely said no thank you. I drive home, eat(the burrito wasn’t the best ive ever had, but not the worst. id give the food itself a 5⁄10.) and do my thing for the rest of the day. Within the past hour i looked at my bank to check on my funds and noticed that the burrito was $ 8.05. I thought, hmm that seems kind of pricey for a mediocre burrito, ill check the menu online and see if the prices match. Well, i couldn’t find a menu, but based on previous Unilocal reviews, it seems that the burrito is usually(or was at one point) $ 6.25. if CA sales tax is .08 percent, than i paid $ 7.45 for the burrito. Thinking logically, i can only assume that the price of the CA burrito has rose to $ 6.45 and that i was charged $ 1.00 extra for using a card. Either that or someone was generous enough with my debit card to give themselves a tip, knowing that i wouldn’t be able to dispute it. Bottom line either way is that im annoyed. What is a dollar worth in California on October 4th2015? Let’s be real… nothing. Either way it’s not the amount that bothers me– its the principal that counts. Maybe something was written on the window and i missed it(Not that that’s an excuse, because if the drive-thru employee didn’t tell me, i wouldn’t find out until i got my receipt back anyways.) Unfortunately for Alobertos, i wont recommend that anyone eat here. Shady practices and mediocre food make for a bad experience and there are too many taco shops in town to have to go somewhere that you’ll be rolling the dice.

So originally I gave this place five stars, and told people about it. At the time, the food really was exceptional, and my only complaint was the prices. Now, I have to adjust my rating because the prices have only gotten higher, while the food quality has gotten worse. As it stands, they’ve gone from excellent to mediocre and it’s not worth it.

The food here is decent, the window people are just ok, they messed up my order the first time I went there. Second time around had no issues. I’ll go back when I need some fast Mexican food to eat, a bit greasy but ya know it’s Mexican food:/

I really wanted to love this place, but the food was just so-so. Came by for lunch. I got asada fries, bean and. cheese burrito and horchata. Right off the bat, I dug the décor. It was super clean, everything was orderly, and they have a pretty extensive menu. The asada was lacking in taste. It was a too salty for my liking. Also, the asada to fries ratio was completely uneven. I would say it was 70% fries and 30% meat. The horchata was pretty good though. And I will say that the service was excellent. The woman in the front was very nice and the food was ready super quick. Granted, I was the only customer at the time. Lastly, what’s with the $.50c charge for card transactions? It makes no sense.

1st and last time here. I’ve been to a lot of burrito shops. $ 8.00 for carne asada burrito with rice and beans but no drink. A little high. Most places include drink for this price or a little less. Thin burrito. Not worth it. Taste ok nothing special. Can of diet coke tasted different. Looked at date on can 6÷30÷14 which is 7 months ago. Way better across the street at cazadores or cotijas even though they have some issues too.

First dont get confused with the other Alobertos on mission george. This is the on on carlton hills blvd next to the pawn shop. So normally if i don’t like a place i usually come back for a second time to give them a chance. You know they might have an off day or something. But this is my first time here. And right of the bat they over charge me. After mentioning it the cashier verifies with the manager and says that they are going through a price change. I then say, you have to charge me the advertised price or its false advertising. Then i hear her manager and her talk back and forth and says something about it being a carne asada vs a regular nacho(oh, btw i was trying to order a super nacho). So in the end i decided to order carne asada fries and that rung up correctly. When i finally received my food the fries was a plenty. But the carne was not enough. The carne to fries ratio was not porporional at all. And on top of that the fries was not cooked all the way through. Lastly, this place charges 0.50 for using a card. If you want customers to come back. Don’t push the cost to customers. Simple business 101. I will not be coming back to this place! Period

I never give a bad review! This place was good the first few times I had it. Got rolled tacos three weeks ago… My husband also got food. He had red sauce I had the green… Something gave me food poisoning… Extremely bad. Crampon and throwing up all night. No fun with a new baby also. I will not be back after that.

I would say that this place is probably closer to 2.5 stars however that it was better than 2 stars so I am giving them 3. The size of the burrito was definitely smaller than most taco shops. My wife had three rolled tacos which were priced very well but they didn’t look like anything special. We shared a quesadilla which I have to say was pretty good. My biggest complaint was that the hot sauce was disgusting. I really think the hot sauce can separate a good taco shop from a great taco shop. Very disappointing. I recommend sticking to Estrada’s or Cazadores…

This place isn’t passing any taco shops in terms of quality or quantity of food. which basically means I probably won’t be passing the umpteen billion other taco shops just to get to this one. Seriously, I pass like 5 taco shops from my house to Aloberto’s so you better have something reeling me in. and well, the only thing is the drive thru. hooray for being lazy, wearing flip flops and sweat pants.etc. not wanting to dress right and staying in my car. oh lazy day indeed… but for what? food? Well i’ve tried the carne asada burrito and the breakfast burrito(potato bacon cheese). The carne is ok, nothing to go HEYEATHERE, nope. just ok, the meat quality is fine, didn’t find grizzle or fatty tissue, etc. The layers were kind of off, I mean if you’re going to build a burrito, do it length wise. So what I mean by that is, don’t dollop the sour cream, guac and salsa, so when you eat the burrito you hit each dollop like a section of flavor. mm carne and sour cream, carne and guac and now, carne with salso. its like a mexican Neapolitan ingredient’s list. Otherwise, the burrito is ok. Also, how you name the food is key too. in order to get the breakfast burrito, you have to say ‘potato egg bacon cheese’ that’s the name. of course they have a list of breakfast burritos and each one interchanges ingredients. so you end up ordering ‘potatoeggbaconcheeseburrito’ and my friend will have the ‘machacaeggcheeseburrito’ I mean just give them names(bacon breakfast burrito) and say what comes with it. of course the drive thru cashier was like what’ huh? what’d you want?’ because it probably sounds like Im ordering 10,000 things. Burrito size is on the smaller side, compared to other places and the prices.($ 5 after tax). There’s a lot of ‘tortilla tearaway’ or what I call the part of the tortilla that you tear away because it wasn’t used or there was not enough stuffing to utilize all the tortilla. So to avoid biting through a multi layered tortilla burrito plus its stuffing, I tear away and leave that tortilla behind. either use a smaller tortilla or more stuffing! Finally, the drive thru is wonky. when you come out, you enter from carlton hills, then exit from carlton hills. you get funneled back to mission gorge. anyhow, its weird, you cant hit this place from mission gorge unless you creep through the trophy store. I“ll double check, but this might of been changed. I’ve tried this place twice. I’ll probably hit it up on my next lazy day. My wife prefers cazadores. with drive thru, and I can’t really argue, its only across the street and food is a bit better.

Eh… Another Santee taco shop, another disappointment. I have said it a million times and I will say it again… Santee has a taco shop force field over it. You cannot penetrate it and place a good taco shop in Santees zip code. They are all just ok or medicore. It’s a damn shame. Anyways… Saw this place open up a few weeks ago and finally made it here the other day for some lunch. I placed my order for a California Burrito, a Beef Taco and a Large Coke. Total was $ 11.64. A bit steep, but if something tastes good and is worth it, I don’t care how much I pay for good food. Here is how everything stacked up… California Burrito($ 6.25) — I looked at the wrapping and noticed it was a bit slim. I unwrapped it and my visual assumption was then confirmed. For a $ 6.25 California, you best be one of two things, if not both… A. Plump as a mofo, huge and busting out the seams, or… B. Tasty as a mofo, don’t want to take your hands off of it and want to eat it all in one bite. Unfortunately, this was nowhere close to either option A or B. I took a bite in and got some carne and guacamole. Not a bad first bite. I then hit the french fries. Soft, limp, nasty. The whole point to a California Burrito is that it has«french fries» in it, not limp potatoes… that might be called an «Idaho Burrito» or something. Too many places don’t crisp up their fries. It pisses me off. Anyways… Took a few more bites and I was pretty much over it. I threw away about ½ of it. The worst part of it was that it had some funky tomatoes in it too. When you get a bite of unripe/sour tomato, it kills the whole burrito you are eating. I haven’t had that happen often, but its happened a handful or times and makes me sad :-(. The only thing I can say good about this burrito was the carne asada. It tasted good and was seasoned right. It was not plentiful at all though and that was yet another strike against this burrito. Beef Taco($ 2.28) — How did they come up with $ 2.28? Are beef tacos on clearance? Is a new version coming out soon? Is it a «Monday Manager Special»? I’ve never seen a food menu item end in an 8. Anyways… This taco was pretty good. They use 2 kinds of cheese, cotija and shredded cheddar. The cheese was super plentiful too which I liked. They did skimp a bit on the shredded beef though. It was a small thin layer at the bottom of the shell. I would get their tacos again if I ever came back. Coke products which was good. Friendly cashier and the lady brought my food to me which was a nice touch. No complaints at all on the service. They do have a drive through also. I just wish their food tasted better. I doubt I will come back.
