A family favorite for many years! They have the best chao tom(ground shrimp on sugar cane) and bo bay mon(7 course beef) in SD. The owner and workers are very friendly, always asks about the rest of the family. We bring our friends here and they love it too. Would have been 5 stars but the décor is a little outdated but we are there for the yummy food!

Wanted to try a new place out so attempted to see what the hype was with this place since it seems it had quite an amount of decent reviews. Unfortunately my experience here felt sub par. When I walked in with my spouse no one greeted us. Instead they just directed us to take a seat, not even a hello. Asked us a minute into sitting down what we wanted to eat like wtf? Obviously we want to look at what menu items they have as its quite a selection. I asked the waiter what was inside the egg rolls but he didn’t understand what I was asking. Guess it’s because he doesn’t speak English. Instead he thinks I want to order it… and just brought it to our table… whatever I’ll just try it and find out myself. This is exactly how the conversation went, «What’s in the eggrolls?» «Yes» «No I’m asking is there meat or vegetables in it?» «Yes» then proceeds to walk away. Now when we were ready to order I told him what I wanted and he was like okay. I went to close the menu and he rudely opened it the second I closed it to double check what I wanted because he wasn’t taking notes. I’m writing this as we speak and what do you know, they brought our FOOD before our DRINKS. Obviously they know what they are doing at this establishment. Edit: Okay we just got our Boba drinks and they serve you old Boba that’s been sitting out for more than 4 hours. I would know because I used to serve Boba drinks at my previous employer. Not coming here again.

It’s been years since I’ve stepped foot into this place and I have to say that the quality has went down significantly. They used to have one of the best 7 course beef meals but we were disappointed at the quality of the meal. Nothing was fresh and the flavor just wasn’t there. I was a fan of their broken rice back in the days. Didn’t get a chance to try it this time around, so maybe… maybe…I might come back and try it again…

Very very good. Beef and chicken phở, spring rolls, egg rolls, and chicken fried rice. All very tasty. I recommend it!

I eat a lot of vietnamese food so I’m pretty picky about vietnamese restaurants. My family and I have been coming here for several years. They have a few speciality dishes that I most other typical vietnamese places don’t have. Their menu is quite extensive. They are most known for their baked catfish dish which is great during the summer, but I love them for the chicken clay pot rice(com tay cam). Think vietnamese version of the hot stone bibimbaps, but with a teriyaki-esque sauce, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, ginger, onions, and of course chicken. I think they are the only place in san diego that serves this dish. My last visit here my dad also order one of their combination rice places which had 7 different items and an egg to top it all off. Overall, really solid vietnamese food and there’s a lot to choose from. Will definitely be coming back for that clay pot rice.

THISISTHEBESTPLACETOEATPHOINSANDIEGO! We drove 25 minutes from South Bay Area and were not disappointed. We had the Phở Chin Nam and Goi Cuon(Spring Roll), both were very good. Our food arrived in less than five minutes after ordering.

Phở was really good, lady(maybe the owner?) was very nice even though we came near closing. Because the kitchen was near closed, we were only able to order phở and it was so delicious and filling!!!

Food was the same as any other Vietnamese Phở place. Nothing stands out about this place. I tried the 7 Course Beef, price is a bit high with the amount of meat you get. Service was slow to the couples behind us, they came in before a group of 4 and they got their food after the others. My girlfriend and I did not get our water refilled. 3 stars due to the price of the 7 Course Beef, slow service for water, and nothing special with the flavors.

If you are hungry for grilled fish wrapped in rice paper with fresh mint, cilantro, lettuce, cucumber, you gotta go here! Pasteur has the BEST Vietnamese grilled fish! I have had it at many restaurants and they don’t compare to Pasteur!

This is probably my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I love the sugar cane shrimp vermicelli. I would give them a 4.5 if it was available because their boba was subpar and service isn’t very friendly. Just focus on how good the food was.

I once liked this place but after my dinner with friends the day after Xmas, I’m never coming back. We called ahead for a large not so fresh baked fish, half of us came first, then we ordered fried rice and beef 7 ways, and chicken wings, we slowly got our beef, and chicken wings as the rest of our party showed up. My daughter wanted porridge,(BTW, we never would have ordered extra porridge if the waiter would have told us our beef 7 ways already came with it such a waste of money!) most of our chicken wings were half raw, by the time we got all of the beef 7 ways and fish, we still didn’t get all our beverages, water, or fried rice for the kids. As we ate, we had to constantly remind them we haven’t got our drinks and needed more veggie, maybe they were too busy to take us? I doubt that. The place was less than half filled! By the time we got everything, we got our bill. We got charged twice for fried rice, and twice for chicken wings, and one of our friends had already put his card down to pay for everything, after they ran his card, the waiter took the receipt and only gave us back the credit card printout to sign, and no where did it say how much added for his tip, he just said in Vietnamese that he included it, and if you want to give more go ahead. We asked for togo boxes to take home the rest of the beef wrapped in grape leaves, and containers for the porridge, but after we were set on not leaving more of a tip, they refuse to give us a bag when we asked, saying all the have was small bags. If you’re going to go here and eat anyways, just be prepared for rude service, not so fresh fish, and disgusting avocado smoothies. And save yourself some trouble and bring your own damn bag to take home your leftover food.

My family has been coming here since we were kids. I haven’t been back in a while but it was a family celebration dinner. We opted out of the 7 course beef dish tonight which is tradition when we come here. We ordered the family 4 meal which is about 6 courses. Catfish hot pot, sweet and sour catfish soup, chicken salad, chicken wings, and clams with side of white rice. We came in right before the dinner rush. They pretty much brought almost all the food out at once. The food tasted great. The only gripe was the clams, they were so tiny and there wasn’t much served. Loved the salt and pepper shrimp with the spicy pickled cabbage on the side. The catfish soup is also another favorite. Get ready to come out smelling like an Asian meal but it’s worth it. Prices are really reasonable. Good authentic food not as good as mom’s house but close enough.

Sucks how the time isn’t available. But no worries! I called on a Sunday night and they were open until 10pm. I wanted to eat some fried catfish spring rolls aka goi cuon ca nuong and Phuong Trang down the street was packed so I decided to come here. Btw if you want to order the cat fish it takes about an hour to cook so I suggest calling ahead. That’s if you don’t mind waiting. It’s a little small Vietnamese restaurant next to K Sandwich with lots of parking. Arrived here around 8:30pm waited for our food and was ready to get down and grub. The fish was perfectly cooked, crisped and full of flavor. The fish is usually for big parties and can feed 3 – 5 people. I almost finished it with my boyfriend.(Lol fatties) My brother got the phở tai. But he’s picky so no noodles or vegetables just meat! The broth was very flavorful and they gave him A LOT of meat and wasn’t cheap. The service was fine. I had no complaints. I’m Vietnamese and I can speak it so it’s probably why they may be nicer to me. Total came out to be $ 60 almost with lots of food left over Togo.

Not a bad place since it’s so close to work, but a bit expensive. The regular combo phở was $ 7.95, plus tax and tip ended up being $ 10. Parking can be a bit of a pain here since there are so many restaurants in the strip mall. I would avoid coming at noon-ish

We are from out of town & my friend wanted us to try the fish wrap meal and it was definitely delicious!!! They fry a whole catfish on top of vermicelli noodles and you can wrap it with rice paper like a spring roll or usually if made at home, with lettuce. It’s a great meal to share because it is a whole fish. You would wrap with fish and veggies and use the sauce to dip. I definitely recommend. The reason for the 3 stars is because my husband ordered the phở and he said it was not good. Rumors are that the only thing good there is the fish wrap!

This is probably my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego because they have a delicious Shrimp and Pork Salad — the best of its kind I’ve had. I almost always get that, and the(fried) egg rolls(I always ask for extra lettuce and herbs) when I come, and that’s(more than) a meal! My husband and I usually share it. The service is sometimes spotty — they often leave us in the back room, and don’t check on us much — but the food is wonderful, and it’s a nicer, quieter atmosphere than most Vietnamese restaurants. We get take-out sometimes to avoid the service issue.

I needed a good dose of phở and this place nailed it! I ordered #10 and the flavor of the broth with the added heat from the sriracha sauce and a little hoisin made this phở bowl exactly what I needed! We also ordered spring rolls… that were not my favorite, but not bad… I wanted the peanut sauce to be thicker. Service was fast and the meal was inexpensive. I am sure I’ll be back!

Another instance of I should of read the reviews first. Lisa T. said it best, «You only come to this restaurant for two items. Ca nuong(baked catfish) &7 course beef.» I came here for the bun bo hue. It was disappointing. Frankly, probably at bottom for bun bo hue in San Diego. I was excited to see this place busy for a Monday. Step in and kind of dirty. Grab a table and that was dirty with ganked up bottles. Had to grab my favorite dish and a tsing tao. Beer hit the spot but soup didn’t. Way too much lemon grass in the broth very over powering and no real spice. Noodles were soggy and food was just off. The pork blood has it’s own distinct taste that’s quite different from most. Not bad, but below par for SD and the area. I’ll come back for to try their specialty dish and hopefully bump up the review. This another Vietnamese restaurant that has too many dishes on their menu they can’t hit them all out of the park. They should consolidate their menu some.

Great mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego! We ordered the bo nuong vi which is a dish where you make your own spring rolls. They brought out raw beef slices, raw octopus, and raw shrimp along with a little gas stove and a small pan. You cook the meats yourself and wrap it up in rice paper. You can add lettuce, bean sprouts, pickled carrots, pineapple, and herbs to the spring rolls. The raw meats came with lemongrass on top – one of my favorite herbs. When we arrived at 6pm on Friday, there was no wait and plenty of tables to choose from. Parking in the lot was not a problem and there’s a K Sandwich in the same complex. I shall be back for the bo nuong vi!
