I ordered a BBQ pork and it was horrible. I took a bite out of it and there was a huge chunk of fat! yuck. The bread was just alright, it didn’t have that fresh-out-of-the-oven buttery taste or crunch to it. The sandwiches are smaller compared to other places and a tad bit more expensive. I should have drove a couple more blocks down mira mesa to buy a wayyy better vietnamese sandwich.

my dad comes here everyday and loves it! i appreciate their bread– its not too hard on the outside where it cuts the roof of my mouth– and the prices! 3 bucks you cant beat that. i always get the bbq pork. Also I like that they have a spam and egg sandwich, good for all the Filipinos in the area, and also a veggie option. :) You can go right next door and get some boba while you wait too.

I discovered this place in mira mesa and after recently eating at Ba-Le, have been dreaming of delicious banh mi. They are a very simple store, combined with a bobalicious store, with only 10 or so menu items. While they serve everything that is supposed to be in a banh mi, it just wasn’t as satisfying as Ba-le. The bread was crispy… but not as crispy. the meat was tasty. but not as much, or as filling. There was no pâté, they used butter or maynoisse, which i actually really didn’t like. The veggies were present. but thickly cut and a lil sloppy. Hmm, now im wondering why it still has 4 stars. It should be a 3 star A-Ok, but because of its location and convenience, i’ll bump it up. Its run by a bunch of high school students and has a very laid back atmosphere inside. 3.5 stars. They get rounded up.

Their sandwiches are good. I usually come here when I’m too lazy to drive further to Bale or CBE, which is pretty often. lol Prices are around $ 3 – 3.50 depending what you get. I’ve tried their BBQ Pork, and it’s good. As in, yeah, I’ll come back often for it. VEGGIEEATER? Most recently, I tried their Fried Egg sandwich. Instantly a fan. The fried egg definitely adds a balance to the pickled vegetables. There’s a veggie sandwich that’s kind of on the side of the picture menu, but I haven’t tried it. Not sure what’s in it.

A banh mih bargain! I work around the corner, so I come here for lunch just about every day. Even when I bring my own lunch, I don’t eat it — I just get a sandwich from Baguette Up. If it’s true that you are what you eat, I’ll be speaking Vietnamese here pretty soon. Ranging from $ 3.00 to 3.50, the sandwiches here are a steal. The ingredients are all fresh and flavorful, and did I mention it’s cheap? My only gripe is that there’s not a whole lot of meat in there, but maybe I’m just a fatass American and still not used to quality over quantity. The sandwiches are just the right size to nom down on my lunch break. The service here is excellent! The counter help is friendly, and always very enthusiastic when I come in. They actually pay attention to what I like and suggest new things to try. I probably won’t listen to them anymore when it comes to trying weird drinks from cans printed in 4 different languages(ugh… that grass jelly drink is nasty haha), but each sandwich suggestion has been exactly what I was looking for. Oh man… I want a spam and egg right now.

This spot used to be another Yogurt spot(circa 2007) when the Fro-Yo craze was at its peak. Its better now as a sandwich shop than a self serve fro-yo shop. The service is the same service you expect from a boba shop, hit or miss. Just like the service at bobalicious(the boba shop who owns this establishment). The girls seem to be more consistent over the boys. I’m knocking it a couple of stars down because I personally like Cali Baguette Express’ sandwiches better. The sandwiches are smaller, however contain more meat and etc over Pros: — Good quality sandwiches — Menu differs from Cali Baguette Express. — Under $ 4 for a sandwich — Spacious interior Cons: — Sandwiches and thats it.(no chips nor sides) — Closes at 9 while the bobalcious side stays open longer.(confusing?) — Credit card purchases have minimums, so bring cash.

These two stars are for the 2 cute cashiers I’ve talked to the two days I’ve went and got a sandwich. ;] Other than that… Baguette Up doesn’t deserve a star. The size of the sandwiches are small compared to the other Banh Mi’s I’ve tried in San Diego. First time I went– I asked the cashier what people usually get. So I got the bbq pork. It was okay. The bread was still hot when I got it. There wasn’t that much meat or vegetables inside. And the vegetables are cut in thin sizes to which i can use as a floss. The pork was sort of fatty… I was eating more pork fat than the good part of pork meat you’re suppose to eat! Second time– My cousin wanted to try this place out even though I said it’s not worth the 3 dollars since the portion is small for a legit Banh Mi. –_– So we went. She ordered a Spam & Egg. The girl had said it will take about 10 minutes for the eggs to cook because they just ran out. Really? Ten minutes for just ONE egg? But, I didn’t argue because the cashier was cute. LOL. 15 minutes past and she still didn’t get her order. I guess the PRE-COOK the eggs?! I took a bite off of the sandwich and it was gross. The egg was cold in the middle and the spam wasn’t even spam. It was like. Fpam! Fake spam! My cousin took the other half home, not sure why. She took a bite of it once we got home *we only live about 5 minutes away* she said the bread wasn’t soft anymore. It was like HARD to chew. Never ever ever ever going back to this place ever ever ever ever again. Not even if anyone tells me to go with the to try this place out! But hey, Maybe I will… just to visit the cashiers. LOL. Jk. OH, PS. I forgot to mention. They have a bottle of Smirnoff close to the backroom. It’s clearly visible. Why the f… would you. wow, nevermind.

since this place opened up, i gave it three chances on different occasions to live up to the competition down the street. they didn’t pass. you figured they’d get better since they’re new and needed time to work the kinks out, but if you’re a sandwich shop, your sandwiches at least have to be somewhat decent. the bread is a bit too soft [it should be toasted more maybe] and the overall taste has no lasting flavor. the plus is that they put a lot of jalapeño peppers, if you’re into that. maybe if the price were lower, i’d be willing to give it another shot. then again, what do i know? i’m only vietnamese, and i only eat vietnamese sandwiches once a week. being the duke of the competition probably has no merit.

Cheap Viet sandwiches is good, but I don’t like it toasted makes my bread soggy when I don’t eat it right away. Unlike Mike over there, they didn’t charge me a fee for paying 3 dollars using my card haha… but I think it was just only that day I went in. But I do agree that you should be able to use your check card/debit because it is cash not credit so there shouldn’t be a minimum. Nice and friendly service.

LOVE the name. I always appreciate a pun, be it clever or corny though I won’t say which category this place’s name falls under :) I always get a BBQ Pork banh mi whenever I get banh mi. The one I got here was good but not the best I’ve had. However, it’s cheap and convenient and the service is pretty friendly. I’d definitely be back if I was in the area, but I don’t think it’s anything to go out of your way for.

Pros: Cheap banh mi, prices range from $ 2.75 — $ 3.95 Connected to Bobalicious Friendly service Cons: Small Banh Mi Sandwiches $ 10 minimum to use ur debit or credit card This place ain’t too bad. The menu is pretty simple, they even have pictures for those people that aren’t familiar to banh mi sandwiches. They also have Mexican Fruit Salad there(Small $ 5, Large $ 6.95), which is kinda oddly expensive. You can make ur own for dirt cheap. The prices for their sandwiches are pretty much the same like you’d see at K Sandwiches or Ba-Le French Sandwiches… but the size of the sandwiches are kinda small. I ordered the Special sandwich, and tha hubster to Grilled Beef. I didn’t really taste the Pâté in my sandwich, it could have used more pickled veggies and probably a couple more slices of jalapeño(i like my stuff HOT), it was a little heavy on the mayo. But overall, it still tasted pretty good. The Hubster liked his Grilled Beef… but he was more concerned about the size of the sandwich AND our bread wasn’t warm… but the outside was still crispy. Customer Service was… EXCELLENT Since this place just opened… i will probably give it another shot. But at least now I’ll know how to tell them to make my banh mi to my liking… and i’ll probably bring cash the next time. Not liking the $ 10 minimum charge idea. However…it would be cool if they had a Banh Mi + Boba drink meal deal… or like a Banh Mi + teeny Fruit Salad side meal deal… i’m just saying… since Bobalicious is just like 5 steps away. It also might be a popular hang out for teenagers… cause I noticed quite a few just hanging out inside and outside of the shop… just kinda chilin LOL kinda like tha old filipino people that are outside Starbucks across the street. oh well… whatever keeps these teenagers outta trouble right?

Baguette Up deserves two thumbs down. I came here yesterday to grab a quick sandwich on the go and boy was I disappointed. I ordered the bbq pork sandwich NOT the bbq pork fat sandwich. As soon as I opened up the wrapper I was disappointed by the size of the sandwich. Normally a vietnamese sandwich is around 10– 12 inches. However, at Baguette Up the sandwich is a small 8 inches in size. The bread wasn’t freshly baked, but was warmed up. The bbq pork was barely inedible as there were huge chunks of fat. Some pieces were just plain fat. $ 3.25 The spam and egg sandwich was horrible as well. The spam wasn’t real Spam. In my lifetime I have had enough Spam to know what real is versus imitation. $ 3.00 The service was exceptional and the cashier was very friendly. However, the service couldn’t save this place. All yesterday my stomach was churning in knots and this was the only thing I had eaten yesterday. Come back again? Most likely not. With so many other viet sandwich places in mira mesa there are many other better options

Deceptive and hypocritical!!! I don’t care for businesses that have conflicting policies. You may have some decent sandwiches, but the fact remains that when you fool a customer, it will only get back to you in the form of a review seen on the internet. Case in point with Baguette Up. As you walk in, you notice the big sign on the window that says«Baguette Up», the store hours, free wifi sign, and the Mastercard/Visa sign. So I ordered my BBQ pork banh mi for $ 3.25 and attempted to hand the cashier my credit card. Her response was«We have a $ 10 minimum on credit card orders.» And she goes ahead and points at her register and there in very fine print saying exactly that. And I’m thinking I just saw the big sign outside with the Visa/MC logo and now she points out in very fine print on the register, minimum $ 10 order for cc purchases. Hmpf… I thought, so I went ahead and payed in cash. Deeeee-ceptive. Not even 2 minutes later, a nice couple orders their food. Total: $ 8.50. The dude pays for their meal with his credit card. No questions asked by the cashier. No question such as «Hey…do you have cash instead since we have a $ 10 minimum cc policy?» Nope… she went ahead and processed HIS credit card and not mine. What the f**k man!!! What kind of bs and hypocritical stuff goes on up in here? $ 8.50 does not equal to $ 10 To the owner: Seriously, if you don’t believe me, check your credit card transaction on 10÷14÷10 at exactly 558pm. Go ahead… I’ll wait… Still waiting… So you see it now… Yah…I thought so. Boo-yah!!! The only thing holding me back from from making this a 1 star review instead is that I actually like banh mi’s, and yours is pretty decent. I just don’t care for your hidden signs and conflicting policies. See yah!

Can’t beat the price or the location(in the same shopping center as Target, which means ample parking), but the sandwiches were lacking that«wow» factor that I’ve experienced at similar shops – bland sauce maybe, or not enough condiments. They share their dining room with Bobalicious next door. Even though the flat screen is nice, the tables and chairs are few and far between, and they look like they’re not wiped down as often as they should be. Also recommend the volume on the stereo be taken down a notch or two.

My sorority held a rush event at Bobalicious which is right next door to Baguette Up. I was really craving for at least a decent Vietnamese sandwich, since I am from San Jose and we have an array of choices. Well let’s just say, the sandwich hit the spot. They offer a unique menu, including spam and egg sandwich, which sounded delicious but I opted for the grilled chicken… YUM! If you are in the area and looking for a quick fix to your hunger, then make the right choice and stop BAGUETTEUP! *I came back a second time with a friend, whom also is from San Jose, and she had to agree it was the best in San Diego… this says ALOT especially since we are both Vietnamese… ya diggy? «Simplicity at its finest!» Had the opportunity to check this place out about a week ago. Heard something about it through a friend who wanted«something light?» She mentioned something about a sandwich shop that recently took the place of a former yogurt shop. To my surprise, Baguette Up is adjoined to the boba shop called Bobalicious. A spot I frequent alot! They must have torn an adjoining wall and now the two stores are connected together. I think this is a great marketing idea on their part considering I bought a sandwich and then walked over to the other counter to purchase a boba drink! As far as Baguette Up, the shop is simple in design and the menu board is even more simple with pictures and a brief description of the sandwiches they offer. I’m a fan of this place for the simple fact that they offer a «spam and egg» sandwich. I like spam. I mean, I like spam! As simple as two pieces of spam and egg and Vietnamese style veggies, the taste combined with«that bread» makes a great combination. If this is too hard to believe, you might have to try it for yourself. I was convinced that I was going to try several of their sandwiches within a weeks time, but found myself getting the same thing for a couple of days. On a suggestion from a staff member to try the bbq pork sandwich, there was a bit of hesitation, but again was very surprised of how great it tasted with the combination of the Vietnamese style veggies and«that bread.» The only thing I can suggest is that if you’re not a fan of food that might have«little kick,» be prepared for the jalapeño that adds a little zing to the sandwich. If not, then just ask them to not put any jalapenos in it! One thing I noticed at Baguette Up was an empty hot bar at the counter and when I asked the staff, they mentioned they were going to start offering a Mexican style fruit salad bar which I’m pretty excited about! If you’ve never been to one, you’re in for a treat! Bottom line! You’re looking at simple sandwiches with a great taste for a very small price! Fruit salad bar a plus! Bobalicious right next to it, extra plus! Can’t go wrong with this fun and simple set up where I’ve noticed a good stream of Mira Mesa residents come to enjoy simple food in a fun environment mainly run by college students! Bravo Baguette Up!

Went to Target and saw this new place and decided to stop by. It’s small, very yellow and bright. The baguette sandwich I tried was the Vietnamese Ham. The bread came out warm, nicely toasted, with a crisp, not burnt and soft. It had enough stuffing inside to give it flavor, texture and totally mouth watering. I could have eaten another 2 or 3. But then I’d fall asleep and wouldn’t be able to get back to work. A Vietnamese sandwich for the price in the area is not expensive/decent and I am definitely a fan. I probably would have to say the best in San Diego that I’ve had. I will be having more lunches here. I also dig the name, the way they played with the word Baguette Up = «Bag it» Up … LOL.

This Vietnamese sandwich place just opened up in the former Yogurlicious location(which years ago was my former dojo). I got sucked in by the name, as I appreciate a good pun. Also, I was feeling in the mood for a banh mi, yet wasn’t looking forward to driving across Mira Mesa to one of the other Vietnamese shops specializing in them. Now, while the place is clean, yet sparsely furnished, and it takes a couple of minutes for your order to come out, I like this place. The staff are friendly, and the most expensive sandwich on the menu is $ 3.95. I ordered the #3 — the Peking Pork/Xa Xue. While there wasn’t as many vegetables as I’ve had on other banh mi, the meat was pretty good and the bagutte was freshly toasted. Additionally, as this place shares space with Bobalicious, you can walk right on over and order a boba drink if you want to. I am looking forward to coming back here again, as there’s a Spam & egg sandwich offered here! Can’t wait to try a banh mi version of one of my favorite sandwich combos!
