The only reason I’m giving this place one star is because the food is somewhere between passable and decent. I honestly wish I could give it zero. I’ve been here quite a few times only for pick ups, and there’s a reason I would never actually sit down here to eat… the place is filthy. Every where you look, the floor, seats, counters, everything is GRIMY. I’m sure the college kids coming for beer towers don’t care that their plates and utensils have dried food on them, but they don’t even do the alcohol in a sanitary manner. On multiple occasions while waiting for my pick up I’ve watched someone fill an unfinished beer tower from customers that left and send it to another table, or pour one unfinished tower into another. Service at the restaurant itself is hit and miss depending on who you get, but expect rudeness over the phone. More than once, I’ve been told that the kitchen was no longer taking orders, 20 minutes before closing time. They didn’t want to take orders because they«already cleaned up.» I’m not sure how they expect to run a business this way or be remotely successful restaurateurs, but there’s good reason it’s never been packed whenever I go there. I came here so much because the food was decent and close to home, but I’d rather get better food somewhere with better service that’s not disgusting and actually closes at closing time.

Service has been terrible every single time I go here. If it weren’t for the beer towers, I would never return

Bangkok Poco is right near by SDSU campus with a lot of foot traffic in the area. I’ve passed by the restaurant every day on my way to school and home, but I’ve never been by, until today. The restaurant is quite small in the inside, but very lively. I checked in today around 2 something and quickly had service. I finally stopped by because one of my friends were raging about how great the Pad Thai was. We ordered chicken pad thai and pork pad thai(the lunch special) to go. It came out to be a total of $ 14.02. The lunch special is split into three sections: main section is the Pad Thai, a section for one veggie eggroll with a small container for a bit of sweet and sour sauce and a slice of orange. Another section with lettuce and a creamy sauce(it had a bit of an orange flavor tint to it, but I’m not completely sure. I’ll ask next time I’m there again.). Overall the experience at the restaurant was quick and easy, even though it was very packed when I was there. The food itself was well seasoned and tasty. The pad thai was balanced between noodles to meat ratio and that pleased me as a first time customer. We also ordered Thai tea and it was okay, nothing outstanding but nothing to be upset about either. I definitely recommend this place, it was a great experience.

I absolutely love this place. Service is great, food is delicious, and beer specials are awesome. The only downside is that sometimes there are too many flies indoors bc they leave the door open on hot days, but otherwise it’s one of my favorite places around campus!

Got FOODPOISONING from the chicken pad Thai. Barfing all night when I needed to be studying for my final exam the next day. Thanks for the D– on my test. Eaten here multiple times with no problem. Food quality is very cheap. Beer towers hold less beer than advertised.

I think the only thing good here is the beer towers because they don’t have to cook them. The lunch special pricing is nice however the food is sub par. The vegetables always taste like they have been frozen and nobody ever gets their food at the same time. They also usually mess up someone’s order. But about one of the only decently priced places that sells beer in the area.

Bangkok Poco has been the closest Thai restaurant to my house for the past 3 years so I have had it many times. Given the proximity to SDSU you would be correct to assume most of the patrons are students. The food is pretty good and the service is always fast. The standout of the menu is the drunken noodles. These are the best drunken noodles I have had in SD(I have tried a lot of thai places). They also have beer specials if that is your thing.

Pad Thai was great! You can choose your level of spicyness… Salmon fried rice was delicious… and all beer is $ 2…they also have beer towers for an insanely cheap price!

Excellent restaurant that would fit in just about anywhere you dropped it. Great beer choices of you like light euro or Asian beers(seriously, I had a Lebanese beer here) and the option to get a beer tower with your choice of several light beers. Something to note is that they have two different beer tower sizes so don’t be afraid to come here solo and drink away. The late night hours will help you time wise. The food is good and reasonably priced, although I haven’t tried many things on the list. Their salmon special with angel hair was surprisingly tasty and a great value. I would also recommend their pad Thai(both chicken and tofu) and their cashew plates. The service is prompt and the dishes come out fast. You’ll never be left waiting for another beer. Plus the seating is comfy too, specially if you sit in the booths.

Lunch specials are from 11−3pm! I only order to go around 2:30 on weekdays before I go to class & it’s usually not busy around that time. Not a long wait for food to be ready. Friendly service for the most part(if you’re ordering to go at least), but eating at the restaurant could be a different story from reading all the reviews!) Chicken pad thai comes out to $ 7.05 for their lunch special. Pad Thai is pretty good, the noodles are never dry & the portion is perfect IMO for those that can’t eat a lot. If you’re not starving but you can eat, you can even share with a friend & it’ll still be a good portion! The restaurant is super small so I wouldn’t recommend coming here on the weekend unless you’re a patient person.

I always try a place twice before I give a bad review. Just in case the chef was off or the waitress had a bad day. But unfortunately this place left a worse taste in my mouth the second time around. To start w the service… We are the only ones in the restaurant and the servers aren’t attentive? Who else are you helping. It would be nice if you smiled. Just once. Every time we asked for something they acted annoyed that they had to get it. We order Goyza, Bancock Poco Fried Rice and Pad Thai. The Goyza was fine. Normal. We ordered the rice w shrimp and it was under cooked. The pad Thai was the worst. The chicken was chewy and the noodles were severely undercooked. They were so chewy and hard! Yuck. Lastly we go our check and it wasn’t itemized at all! What kind of business gives you a receipt without telling you how much your food is?! What the heck. Never coming back.

I called them to make a pick-up order at 11pm. They told me it was cash only, while very inconvenient, maybe it was because it was late at night. Anyway, I arrived there to see that they already placed a «Closed» standing sign blocking the entrance walkway at 11:40pm. There were still people inside and the workers were just sitting at one of the tables on their phones. They never looked at us so we had to go around the sign and ask them about our order. They were very nice about it but service could have been better, even if it was just a phone order. On to the food: I ordered a chicken pad thai. Originally, I called to see if they had fresh spring rolls and was shocked that they didn’t have this Thai food staple. The portions for the pad thai was pretty small in comparison to other places. I prefer my pad thai on the sweeter side, but it came out very tangy and dry. Maybe I will come back another time to try something else on their menu, but I wouldn’t order the pad thai again.

Came here for lunch, unfortunately on one of the hotter days of the year. Service was average, one of the 7 of us didn’t get their meal until about 30 minutes after the first dish was set(as they were lunch settings our meals weren’t shareable). I know its typical to not all come out together, but these caused dishes to get cold and then us to seem impolite. No A/C so we were sweating the whole time. The food was good and it is convenient to SDSU.

Came here on a Saturday night with my brother and it was quite busy. Saw that beers were pretty cheap and people ordered towers of it. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and it was okay. The veggies were not fresh and the consistency of the sauce was too watery. Brother ordered yellow curry and it was a major fail! It was so watered down and it was not thick and creamy like it’s supposed to. There were only onions, carrots, potatoes and all of which were not fully cooked. The rice that came with the dish did not look fresh either. Overall, we will not come back for the food, maybe for the towers of beer.

Poco does it again! Had their fried rice with scallops! Delicious… It’s also kinda cool that there’s a bridge to campus. :)

This place is really awesome. I always get the pad see ew or pad thai with beef. Pretty filling and very tasty. I go with a 6 – 7 spicy level out of 10 and that’s good enough for me. You gotta come with some friends and get beer towers! Their prices are cheap and you get a lot of beer. Really love coming here all the time.

I made a phone order for pad thai, was told it would take 20 minutes. Everything seemed great until I show up 30 minutes later. It takes 10 minutes to talk to someone about my order and when I do, I am told my food isn’t ready yet. I ask why my food isn’t ready after 40 minutes and the dude looks like I just slapped his mother. He says, «See we have a lot of orders» as he points to the kitchen, «20 minutes» It’s finals and nobody got time for that so I cancel my order and go and grab McDonald’s and wouldn’t you know it, 20 minutes later I get a call from them telling me that my order is ready.

I used to go to SDSU and being back on it’s grounds made me feel so old! hahaha. Anyway, we showed up about 1030−11pm. This place is tiny and full of loud, drunken college kids(as expected). My friend and I, literally, were seated at a table directly in front of the entrance(probably less than 3 feet away). I saw they served beer towers and had very inexpensive beers. * Service: Waitress didn’t seem so pleasant and didn’t want to work. Even if you hate your job, you either quit and find another or at least fake good customer service. LOL. It took about 10 minutes for the server to ask us what we wanted to drink. The water tasted like milk. * Food: I ordered the Salmon Crystal Pad Thai. I’ve had pad thai plenty of times before, but never with salmon. I just love the juicyness of the salmon when cooked correctly. When I received my food, I must’ve read the menu wrong because my salmon was thoroughly overcooked and appeared fried? Well, I tasted the salmon and it DIDNOT taste like salmon, nor looked like it. It tasted like some white fish, not quite sure which one. Save yourself the disappointment and don’t order anything salmon here. The pad thai itself was okay. I asked for a spice level of 5, but maybe I should’ve asked for a 7. * Thai iced tea: I love thai tea, too. This was okay. Overall, this is a great, inexpensive place for students on campus or who live close by. However, I would not drive out of my way to visit this place again. The only reason why we decided to eat here was because it was open late and we were in the area.
