The allure of waffle sandwiches is great. Who doesn’t love sandwiches? Who doesn’t love waffles? Putting them together could be a magical combination. Unfortunately, Bruxie turns out to be not magical, but good enough. The waffles aren’t sweet at all, and are actually a bit bland. But the sandwich filling are flavorful enough. The goat cheese and mushrooms were quite tasty. The waffles were so light that I would actually like richer filling. The only real disappointment was the fries. They claimed to be seasoned, but seemed like they were lacking even enough salt. They also seemed almost fluffy, more like the waffles than potatoes. Not that that stopped me from inhaling them, though, so clearly they weren’t too bad.

The Brussels waffle here is really good I like it for a light breakfast. They have their own brand of individual syrups that they give out as well that are very good. Overall I really like the food just somewhat expensive and they open too late(9).

Cute little waffle sandwich shop. Friendly service too. I tried the s’mores. So yummy and gooey. Not too sweet but a little on the rich side. I’ll definitely be back.

3.5−4 range I remember seeing Bruxie online and thinking what a novel idea it was. Who doesn’t enjoy waffles? I don’t not. I had visited Bruxie(this particular location) about a year ago. I walked away not being completely impressed. My GF and I had split a Bruxie burger(not sure if that’s the official name) as it was their featured combo at the time. Not really memorable, other than the novelty of eating a waffle sandwich. Their waffle fries are not exciting. I was glad to have at least tried it. Fast forward to a day into 2016. I was exploring SDSU campus with a friend, and again, the novelty of waffles struck us both. This time, I got the pulled pork sandwich. The waffles seemed crispier and better, and the pulled pork was decent enough. It came with a side of BBQ sauce. It was just a tad too spicy for me, but it did enhance the sandwich. Waffle fries are still meh. We split a smore waffle thing. It was quite good. The chocolate they used was very tasty. There were some other sweet selections that I wouldn’t mind trying. There is a small parking lot. If you’re on campus already, it’s easy enough to get to on foot. All in all, I was much more satisfied this time around. Bruxie isn’t in my neck of the woods, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to return, but wouldn’t be against it if in the area.

Was expecting a different taste to the food here. You think waffle sandwiches you think it would be sweet. It’s not. The server told us upon entering their waffles are«light and airy» and likened it to a panini. That it was. I tried the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was tasty and well seasoned. They threw in honey chili to glaze the chicken and some lettuce. It was pretty darn good. The meal with fries and a drink(separate fees) came out to over $ 11. Small parking lot as an fyi and look out for the transients.

Great location although slightly difficult to find if it’s your first time. It sits right behind the Jack-in-the-box. There is a small parking lot that holds only ~6 cars so it’s best if you can just walk here. I have tried many different Bruxie locations and this is one of the smaller locations. However it is very cozy and has windows looking out to the bridge of SDSU. Chicken waffles are their most popular order and are very delicious. So are the waffle fries. The cashiers are quite friendly. Will definitely check back in again at this location.

This is the best place around SDSU Good place to hang out I like to order a chicken waffle and a side of caesar salad with strawberry lemonade. Melisa is the nicest server I’ve ever seen I’m happy every time when I go there and see her, even if she does nothing. Thank you

I’ve been here maybe four times, although my «check-ins» show otherwise. In each of those four times, the service has been exceptional. They are friendly, eager to help you pick which waffle sandwich to get, patient with you when you have decisive issues, etc. With that said, they will get 5STARS in CUSTOMERSERVICE. The last time we came here, my siblings and I ordered the pseudo hamburger waffle, the chicken&waffle(with sweet chile sauce), and chicken tenders with waffle fries. It’s a simple concept, nothing new, and not deserving of some of the rave reviews I see on Unilocal. For the mediocre FOOD, I will give this place 3STARS. I hate the parking here, it’s terrible. It’s tiny, and not at all efficient as this little«plaza» is home to one other restaurant and the ice cream sandwich place called«CREAM.» PARKING deserves 1STAR. Overall, it’s a 3STAR type of place. Nothing terrible, but nothing great. Mediocrity as its finest!

Bruxië makes good stuff. I visited a couple of times and both were very positive. While the campus is between semesters, student traffic is light and parking is much easier. We’ve used parking spots at the adjacent Domino’s lot and didn’t have any problems there. I tried some savory menu items: chicken strips, crispy waffle-cut fries, and a hearty pastrami waffle sandwich. The chicken is above average imo and not overly coated with breading. The sandwich waffle isn’t sweet and actually holds up well. I tried the pastrami per the cashier’s recommendation and it was a tasty win. I would get that again, but would likely try a different item to see what else is good. Service is friendly and helpful. There are free refills on soft drinks, but the refreshing strawberry lemonade and cane sugar soda pop stations are not self-serve. Ice water is available at the condiments table, where they also have large bottles of Sriracha and Tapatio. A bold strategy and I wonder if many of these bottles get stolen often. Next time, I’d like to check out dessert, like my first liege waffle because my only frame of reference for sugary sweetness incorporated in gluten batter is sadly a McGriddle. If I was an SDSU undergrad living at the dorm, Bruxië would definitely be on my freshman-fifteen campus meal plan rotation.

This place screams college gem. Parking is tough but its built like a angelos. Right next door to CCream woot woot. Food is good. The dude that helped me was very informative about the waffles and helped with all questions. Definitely help build excitment. Certainly a place to add to Unilocal list «Roadway to Unilocal elite»

I have to say this place is great! Parking sucks, but worth the walk. Who ever thought of the idea of using waffles with everything is a genius. I hope that they open another chain where there is more parking. Trying to go there at night during a weekday is hard. You have San Diego state students crowding the area so parking will be difficult and lines too.

Very delicious food! Almost everything comes in a waffle! I tried their carnitas torts which included waffle cut fries and a soda and I was not disappointed. My wife tried their chicken and waffles and fries and she was content too! Their soda is made with pure sugar cane which makes it super sweet just to my liking… This place is located in a central spot at SDSU and was perfect prior to heading into the concert we were attending. If I’m back in the area, I’ll try this place again.

We finally found this place! we have gone to the one in Orange, but haven’t had the chance to stop at the one here in San Diego. Well, today that changed and it was beautiful. We got the fried chicken and waffle, the pulled pork and s’mores sandwiches, DELICIOUS! Stick to the full sandwich, don’t waste your time and money with the combo, that was our mistake and I regret it, so much! I want more sandwiches!!! Anyway, good place! Good food, great selection!

Oh Bruxie. I want to love you but you’re so dang expensive! I have no issue paying for good fresh food, as long as it fills you up or leaves you satisfied. I feel neither after eating here. Bruxie is about the same price as Burger Lounge, and you have to order your sides separately here too, but I actually feel satisfied after my meals there where everything is absolutely fresh. Unfortunately at Bruxie there isn’t enough substance to justify the price tag. I mean I love the concept and the waffle is light and airy as can be but how much could it actually cost them to make? I’ve tried the chicken and waffle, and the lox salmon. The chicken and waffle was good, but not $ 8 good. The lox salmon was disappointing and almost $ 9. The salmon was mostly bland and I got tired of it mid-meal. The cream cheese overpowers the salmon slightly. Adding fries and a drink will run you up to $ 12 – 14 for a meal here. Their fries are awesome though. The fact that it’s in the SDSU area makes me wonder how anyone would afford this place if not for their dining dollars. I could see this place being more profitable in the La Jolla/University City area. The last time I came here the place was completely empty and had me thinking how much longer it’d be around.

I was very disappointed coming here. I’ve heard many good reviews about the one in LA. This one is located at SDSU right next to the jack in the box so it’s very hard to find parking if you don’t have a permit. It used go be a Mexican restaurant and I don’t think they changed the seating and interior once they opened bruxie which is not a problem but I wish they had more seatings. I ordered the Hot Pastrami. I was disappointed because the waffle did not taste very good and I had to eat the meat alone which was very hard for me to finish because it was salty. Also, my friend’s order came out raw. The server was kind enough to bring her out a new one and gave us a complimentary ice cream though. I don’t think I will be coming back to be honest :/

Waffle Sammies all around!!! are you craving some chicken and waffles??? then this is the place to come! my friend told me about this place a few months ago and finally got around to coming here!!!(thank you C.T. for the recommendation =]) Pretty hard to miss if you are walking on campus and happen to cross the pedestrian bridge into campus… we happen to be wanting to get some grub after watching awesome performances by sir sly and swithfoot… so what better way to top of the night than by having waffle sammies!!! their hours of operation are as follows: 8am — 10pm Sun — Thurs 8am — 11pm Fri & Sat their savory sandwiches are built on light, crisp, yeast risen 250 calorie waffles! Originally, I wanted their pulled pork waffle sammie. but they had ran out… probl. cause is late at night… went for their roasted turkey club, it has applewood bacon and pesto aioli. SOLD! my friends ordered the green egg and ham. [ had one bite ] delicious!!! among other things… they also offere sundaes, shakes/floats, salads, waffle cut fries, sweet treats [ PB& J, meringue pie,… and more!] there also kids meals available! cant wait to go back !

Terrible location in San Diego. I guess they are really trying to attract SDSU students, but the rest of the world thinks the parking sucks, and the location itself is hidden. SDSU students are also allowed to use their meal plans here. Ohh college life, miss those days. Went on a Sunday evening, Labor day weekend. The restaurant is small, the line was long and the cashier was a little on the slow side. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. I saved a spot in a booth — had my friend order me the Roasted Turkey Club. Inside included BLT, avocado and turkey of course. The waffle itself is less than 300 calories — so it felt really healthy. It was absolutely delicious. I’ve had something similar at Max Brenner in Vegas, but Bruxie hits the spot. Workers deliver the food quickly enough. People rave about the chicken and waffles — but a more savory meal was more for me. Would love to come back for another awesome quick meal!

Absoultely deeeelish!!! Ahh… I would have been here multiple times a week if Bruxie was here in my day. Freshman 15? It might have been Freshman 25! Anyway, the buttermilk fried chicken and waffle did not disappoint! The fried chicken was better seasoned than Chick Fil A. It just had an awesome sweet and spicy blend. I wasn’t too impressed with the cole slaw, it was just cabbage to me. As advertised the waffle was super light, but not overly sweet. For dessert, I highly recommend the Belgium Liege Sundae. It was incredible! I loved everything about this dessert, especially the crunchy bits of sugar. The waffle was crispy and light, but still coated in a sweet sugary blend. The chocolate syrup was thicker than your bottled Hershey’s syrup, and almost as thick as a the fudge sauce of McDonald’s ice cream sundae. The vanilla custard was excellent as well. I highly recommend checking this place out. Perhaps go on the weekends to avoid the college crowd during the weekday.

Sandwiches made out of waffles? Sure, why not! They make it a point to declare that their waffles are 250 calories blah blah blah, but I still felt like a supreme fat ass eating a sandwich made of a waffle. Did I really care about that, though? Oh course not! It was delicious! I had the Turkey Club and my husband had the Bruxie Burger. We both really loved our waffle sandwiches, but the gruyère in my sandwich was a little strong for us. Extra stinky cheese for the whole dining room(sorry everyone else eating in our general vicinity). It tasted lovely, but I think I’ll have to swap the cheese next time. I also had a side of their tomato soup and it was pretty tasty. Definitely lots of basil flavor in that thing. But I love basil so it worked out. The real star of our visit for me, however, was the Belgium Mocha I ordered on our way out. It’s just their Belgium Hot chocolate with a shot or two of espresso in it, but it was delicious! I’m not a huge fan of regular mochas because they are generally too sweet, but since it was a sort of special and regional mocha I decided to order it. It tied with a Mexican mocha as the best mocha I’ve ever had. The chocolate isn’t too sweet and is even a little bitter which plays perfectly with the espresso. A definite treat. I will continue to drink one of those every time I visit Bruxie. They have a very interesting menu and we will be back soon to explore some of their sweets because we love sweets and we’re fat kids so obviously we would want to come back and eat the Belgium waffle sweets. Duh.
