We got here before they opened. The staff was just coming in. Seating was nice, atmosphere was nice the band hadn’t yet arrived. The food took entirely way too long to arrive, it wasn’t hot, it needed much more seasoning, and we had to ask for extra condiments. They add the tip for you which is frustrating but service was well and the band was pleasant. They were out of deserts that we wanted which was a shame but over all decent experience I may be back but I will only order about three things off the menu.

Omg… we just finshed dinner here on a random thursday because they had a groupon coupon. Let me just start by saying we didnt even know this place existed, but we will definitely be coming back! My honey had the gumbo appitizer that had such a rich flavor, and then the jumbalaya that had the biggest shrimps ive seen! I had the meat pies. …fluffy…buttery…flavorful! Then the catfish. omg… the piece of fish was bigger than myself, but it was so good i ate the whole thing!!! I would give this place ten stars but i can only do five. Well worth a visit, and i hope it stays around for a long time!

Went here on a Friday night… No live music or lively crowd… But the food was decent — huge portions too. I liked short ribs. Shrimp and grits was decent. Fried green tomatoes — not that much. Service was ok, not awesome — we had to remind them about our appetizer and then main course came shortly after the starter came.

We had dinner at Bourré. Started with fried green tomatoes– hot and yummy. Catfish was hands down the best we’ve ever had. Seasoned just right and ever so tasty. Shrimp and grits were also delicious. You may have to wait a bit for your meal and it is wort it because everything is very fresh. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back soon. Met the owner Gil who was very welcoming. The entire staff were attentive, friendly and passionate about their restaurant.

The service is wonderful, but the food is just not that good. The jabalaya with rice is made out of canned potatoes and the chicken is old chicken thigh the burger is made with frozen ground beef and the seasoned veggie is just carrots. The pie crust tastes frozen and overall is just worst than Walmart pie. And don’t buy the Unilocal deal please it is not worth it !!! Thank you very much for reading it

This review is about their poor customer service. I purchased a Groupon for dinner at this restaurant. Nowhere on the Groupon did it say that exclusions apply. I called many times buy Noone picked up the phone. I driver 30 min on a Friday night and find out from the hostess I can’t use my groupon. They said the only place I’d find out the days I can’t use my groupon is on their website… This is a horribly run business they don’t care about their customers. Shame on them. I’ll never eat there.

Very cozy, interesting hideaway that draws a big crowd on jazz nights. Food is pretty good & the service is attentive. Worth checking out if you like southern food & love jazz. Alcohol only available on music nights. No discounts or groupon accepted on music nights.

If you make a reservation here, make sure to do it at least a day before. They print out reservation lists and don’t use an iPad or computer to access updated reservations. Luckily it wasn’t crowded and we got a table right away, but I didn’t get my Open Table points –_– We had 3 staff members ask us for our drink orders – overly attentive, kind of annoying and kind of funny. The waiter who ultimately stuck with us was very nice, but obviously green. Food was pretty good but not amazing by any means. The cornbread was disappointingly dry, but it has potential. The salad is teeny tiny but I noticed that at the end of the meal, the portion sizes were actually perfect. I left full but not stuffed. The red beans and rice was good but a little bland – ask for hot sauce. My husband got the chicken special and I got the blackened shrimp po boy. Again, both meals were pretty good. The chicken special came with a sweet potato marshmallow thing that was the highlight of the meal – I stole about half it from my husband’s plate haha. We came here for the live jazz music and it really made our night. The drummer works at the local jazz radio station and stopped by our table to talk music with my drummer hubby. Lastly, it was one of the employee’s birthday and they brought out a huge cake to share with everyone – how sweet, literally! The ambiance of Bourre is awesome… really feels like an intimate family restaurant.

I had hopes… dashed. In the corner of a shopping center, everyone has to start somewhere(see First & Hope Restaurant and Au Lac in L.A.). While they’ve set a cozy seating area for waiting outside of the front doors, I don’t expect to see the owner chillaxing with guests, who pops up to open the door when we approach. He checked our reservation and we were seated. The place needed a good sweep. Trust, I don’t mind you with a broom around my feet rather than see crap on the floor. The service was excellent. From the hostess to the attitude, attempt at humor, expeditiousness, and apologies from the server, we had great service. I didn’t appreciate being sat at a tablecloth table in which the tablecloth was ucky. My Mom said, «Maybe this is the type of restaurant that uses the tablecloths all day.» My reply, «If so, they need a butcher paper cover.» I tried to calm down(from my standards) to help my mother enjoy her dinner.(I later saw a gent changing out tablecloths, so I don’t know what happened with ours…) They had a special menu for Mother’s Day. The prix fixe menu looked excellent. We had the –fried green tomatoes: good w/o dipping sauce –Creole: Ma wanted to send it back, but had no other viable option (It might have hurt that her plate felt bumpy – from previous food, like it wasn’t washed properly!) –short rib: good, but grissly –sweet potato pie: cinnamony, but good –sweet potato cheesecake: delicious The live music was the drawing touch. But alas, we still will never be back.

Service was outstanding. The staff was welcoming and smiling. Walking into the restaurant was like walking into downtown prohibition era Memphis. Very impressive décor. You can’t help but look around and admire every detail from the brick wall to the old style mic on the stage. It is surreal to walk through those doors having just parked at a strip mall with a dollar tree. Now to the food, it was subpar and my bf and I will never return. Jambalaya was one note, not the medley of flavors you expect. I tasted mostly tomato paste and barely any spice. Gumbo was salty and also lacked the variety of flavors. Mac and cheese had dried out hardened cheese. Our order of a «side of vegetables» ended up being pickled carrots like the ones you get at a taco joint. We also got salad greens with vinaigrette dressing – not sure if that was part of the the side of vegetables. In short, beautiful restaurant that has the wow factor, great staff, bad food. They have a $ 25 for $ 50 Unilocal deal but even with that discount I would not return for the food.

«Songs remain. They last… A song can last long after the events and the people in it are dust and dreams and gone. That’s the power of songs.» Neil Gaiman — Anansi Boys This place was Stockdale’s Fine Southern Cuisine. Come on the right night and you could listen to the blues or lounge tunes. Owner was a refined southern gentleman and an excellent host. It’s nice to see that excellent hospitality continues on. Piano waits in the corner to play old songs. I tried the fried catfish with cajun fries. Fresh catfish had deep rich flavor nicely scented by the cornmeal batter. Cajun fries had delicious mis of potato and seasoning salt flavor. I had a bite of the fried chicken. The seasoning and batter was delicious. Wish they had dark meat fried chicken on the menu. It’s nice this location remains an excellent spot to get my fix of southern cuisine.

I had to give them 5 stars. Great greater, Waiter, live band, décor, and of course food. When I first walked in I felt like I was in New Orleans. I felt a warm welcome. Our waiter was very nice. He told us his recommendations, and did a small chit chat with us. There was also a live band playing. It was very soulful. The band most definitely made the whole New Orleans type feel complete. Came here because a few people told use about this spot. We decided to get the deal on here spend $ 25 and get $ 50. Our bill was $ 58 so I think it was well worth it. We got a lot of delicious food. We ordered Appetizers Red beans &a rice Have all types of Cajon seasoning with a little spicy kick at the end. Which i love. The Consistency was more like chili. Gumbo of the day Very delicious. It just taste southern. I like how there was a lot of sausage in it. Perfect appetizer size for one. Main menu The Catfish the batter on the fish was soo good. It was flavorful and crispy. It came on a bed of mashed potAtoes and asparagus. Potatoes were very fluffy. The steak Oscar Omg! Explosion of flavors in your mouth! Steak with crab meat & mashed potatoes at the bottom, shrimp on top and topped with some gravy sauce. Steak was prepared nice. It was perfectly tender. Desert Cornbread Not my fav. It had strawberries in, which I didn’t really taste. It also taste very dry and bland. This was by far my least favorite on the menu. Sweet potato pie Sooooobomb! Doesn’t help when you are a sweet potato lover. It was warm, it had a lot of rich flavor. Crème brûlée cheesecake My husband loved it! Perfectly thin layer of burnt sugar on top. He loved that it added hint more of flavor.

This is another case of my Groupon about to expire so I had to hightail it into this place on a Sunday afternoon. This is not ideal because church day afternoon can get crowded in a place where my ‘folks’ are known to frequent. Nevertheless, I made my reservation as per the instructions and hoped for the best. When we got there it was fairly empty so my timing worked out. Our server was very nice and suggested a couple items on the menu. We ordered the Louisiana meat pies for an app. For entrees, my kid went with the Salmon w/lemon cream sauce and I had the Jambalaya. Apparently they had run out of the complimentary cornbread with strawberries on it and I was more than a little bummed. The meat pies were pretty good-they had a flaky crust which I loved and the ground meat filling was flavorful. Maybe I was just hoping for cheese or something to also be inside. Still, not bad at all. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her salmon-the lemon cream sauce was so good! My jambalaya hit all the notes that it should-the sausage and chicken were happy, the rice was perfectly tender and there was a slightly spicy kick to it. I ordered Pecan Pie for dessert and kiddo had some ice cream-picky eater. She doesn’t like pecans so she didn’t want any of the pie until she tasted the filling. She then turned it into the perfect accompaniment to her ice cream and I ended up sharing my pie. :-( I’d most likely go back to this place. It has a nice vibe and I wouldn’t mind trying them out for lunch.

Turned to my Unilocal APP and decided to come here with my girlfriend since I live around the area and there was also a Unilocal deal. Needed to unwind and wanted a drink. TIP: Bourre Southern Bistro serves alcohol only on music nights. BOO… but I understand. Food: Stuffed Pork Chop Jambalaya — Chicken & Sausage The complimentary biscuits were good. The jambalaya was salty and the pork chop lacked flavor. I think I messed up my pallet by having the jambalaya first. I was used to the salty flavor. I will give this place another try. The servers and GM was very nice to us.

Me and my friend wanted chicken and waffles and decided to try this place, after I Unilocaled it. My friend arrived first, was asked if she had a reservation. We didn’t, maybe that was a sign that we should have gone elsewhere. I arrived about 10 min after her. Seated at a small two top. Cute little restaurant in the Plaza next to the Joan Croc Center, perfect size for a homegrown restaurant. It happened to be Asian soul night, delightful random coincidence. Armi Guzman and Lawrence Park were on stage, gracing us with their beautiful voices. It was very busy that evening. It took 15 min for the server to arrive, he took our drink orders, sangria for each of us. Another 15 min and he took our appetizer orders, fried green tomatoes and cup of gumbo, no rice. Well that’s when service went to crap. A couple of times employees tried to take our menus, we still hadn’t ordered entrees. My friend happened to know Armi and we were chatting when the appetizers arrived, server never did come back to the table unless we called for him. It was approx 40 min, then we had to ask another employee to take our entrée orders. He left to inform our server, it took another 15 min after that before our order was taken. We ordered the chicken and waffles and creole shrimp risotto. Well the food took approx 50 min to come out. I kept looking at my friend and we were wondering, What the hell?! Are they plucking the chickens in the back. The server did finally come by and tell us the kitchen was backed up, but he told us at the 40 min mark. I’m thinking they should have split the sections in the restaurant better so our server could see us. It looked like he was helping the large party in the back. We also noticed he was just hanging out and watching and video recording the entertainment with his cell, or just plain not on the floor at all. The saving graces of the meal were the sangria, fried green tomatoes, the gumbo’s roux, and the chicken strips in the chicken and waffles. The waffles was just a stereotypical waffle at any diner or restaurant, the chicken strip was battered and fried perfectly. The atrocities were the horrible service and the risotto. The consistency of the risotto was crunchy, not creamy at all. There was no asparagus and no shrimp to be found. The portion was horrible compared to other photos you’ll see from other people on here. I ate the risotto because I was hungry, too late to eat somewhere else. Thank goodness my friend shared her chicken and waffles. All in all the service was horrendous, they shouldn’t have sat us if they couldn’t handle the volume of tables in the restaurant. Many of the tables around us were taken care of, the lady taking care of the table next to us was doing an excellent job. I did notice one table complained, it also took forever for their check to arrive and resolved. I will not come back, rather go back to Bud’s for my creole fix. Check the pictures for confirmation on the risotto.

4.5 stars. Really?! Came here at 5:30PM and were the only ones in the restaurant, which was fine. We were greeted and seated promptly and the candlelight at the center of the table was cute. We received complementary strawberry cornbread which wasn’t moist enough for my taste. It didn’t taste freshly baked. more like warmed up leftovers from the night before. The silverware is wrapped in a cloth napkin so PLEASEMAKESURETHEYARECLEANBEFOREUSING. My fork had some kind of crust on them. It took the server about 10 minutes to come to take our order, which would’ve been understandable if we weren’t the only ones there! Instead, she was just on her phone and we sat there awkwardly waiting. We ordered the Shrimp Platter and Catfish. Shrimp Platter: This entrée came with Cajun fries and cole slaw. The cole slaw was soooo bland but the fries were good. I mean. Can you ever go wrong with fries?! The fried shrimp was just okay. Catfish: We substituted the grilled asparagus for mac and cheese. The mac and cheese looked better than they tasted. This dish also comes with garlic mashed potatoes. Looked and tasted like those boxed mashed potatoes where you just add water. Normally, my boyfriend doesn’t use salt for his food, but the Catfish wasn’t seasoned well enough that he resorted to using salt and pepper. Overall, the service was subpar and food was just okay. A little on the pricier side for the quality. The reasons for 2 stars and not 1 are because they had a groupon offer and good fries. I won’t be returning.

We showed up for dinner a bit early between 4:00 to 5:00PM. The first people arriving for dinner! Yea! Right away I noticed the piano, microphone and thought to myself, it might be fun to come back for the entertainment one evening. Hat’s off to the interior decorator. Such warm inviting tones, interesting artwork, pictures of people and pretty seasonal Christmas decorations. Very classy. The service was impeccable! My glass was filled without asking and someone always just appeared right before we needed something. This was not because we were the first people arriving. The tables quickly became full shortly after we ordered with no difference in service. The owner happened to be there that evening and he made the rounds to each table inquiring how everything was. He had a way of making each person he chatted with feel special. The waffles were fluffy, crisp and melted in your mouth with or without syrup. Fried chicken was tender, seasoned quite nicely and it tasted even better when some of the syrup ‘accidentally’ touched it somehow. Gosh I’m not sure how that happy anomaly came about. I’ll definitely be back to try out more dishes. Will probably try out the following: Louisiana meat pies sound delicious with three types of meat. Jambalaya with chicken and sausage looks delightful and the Pork chop stuffed with apple and french bread sounds crazy good. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.

The food was delicious! There are a a lot of kinks that need to be worked out, which I would really have given 3 stars for, but the food was very very good, so 4 overall. Food: No free cornbread like the other tables. :(For appetizers, the rice and beans were delicious, my boyfriend loved his gumbo, but the fried green tomatoes were just okay. I liked the breading but it fell off very easily. For entrees, he had the steak which he really enjoyed. I had the catfish which was perfectly crusted and cooked. They both came with mashed potatoes and asparagus, both delicious, and the crab with his was awesome! I did order mine with mac ‘n cheese instead of the mash, and they accidentally forgot it — no problem since they brought both anyway! The only thing that threw me off was the beeping of the microwave prior to the food coming out, and mac ‘n cheese that seemed like it was microwaved(lots of grease sitting on top, a funky texture). Why could I hear the microwave, you may ask? No music! Our server was very friendly, however the night we came in they were solely understaffed and he was the only server for a good half hour. The appetizers came fast, however the entrees took a good 30 extra minutes. No alcohol so we got extra food to fulfill our Groupon!

Woot! They’re currently running a Unilocal deal 50% off! Just got one because… Dayum!!! Awesome food, service and ambiance here in this unassuming plaza and neighborhood! I’m not familiar with Rolando, but a Groupon purchase brought me and my friends here. It’s not the nicest neighborhood in town but this is a more than nice restaurant! The host and servers greeted us and were all very friendly throughout our entire meal. The restaurant was a bit more than casual with nice table setup and servers wear uniform but it’s very cozy and cute at the same time. Kind of like a bistro style, as its name stated haha. Everything we ordered was amazing, including the blueberry cornbread, Louisiana meat pies, gumbo, salad, chicken and waffle, and the filet mignon steak! We ate like pigs. It was a nice surprise to taste this perfectly cooked filet mignon at a non-steakhouse. And their made-from-scratch mashed potato with garlic and crab meat was to die for! We cleaned the plate, bright and shiny. Chicken was super crispy and juicy with the perfect seasoning. Waffles came out hot and crispy as well. Prices are not the cheapest in town but it’s great they’re doing a Unilocal deal! Even without the Unilocal deal or Groupon, I would still come back to try other things, maybe just not as often. The next time I know where to get my southern food fix!

Since my coworker was raving about this eatery, I decided to check it out when my friend asked me where I wanted to celebrate our birthdays. I made reservations for 8:30pm, but they called and asked if we can come in earlier(so we did.) This place surprisingly doesn’t open on Mondays-Wednesdays and wasn’t very busy when we came. The atmosphere was romantic and each table had candles with colorful beads around it. I can tell our server was rushing us a bit to get our order in since they close at 9pm. We got complimentary corn bread and started with a cup of the gumbo of the day and the fried green tomatoes for our apps. The gumbo had a nice kick and was so delicious… I wanted more! For our entrees we shared the stuffed pork chop and jambalaya with chicken and sausage and added shrimp. Both dishes were really yummy and very flavorful. Our entrees arrived fast and came with a small salad. We also got the Cajun fries, but when it came out, it looked like those frozen crinkly fries you get from the freezer section of the grocery store. There wasn’t enough Cajun spices on them either. I was stuffed, but still had room to try the crème brûlée cheesecake. The staff was very friendly and kept checking up on us. I recommend this place if you want good Cajun/Creole food! Just don’t order the fries LOL!

My boyfriend and I were here on Saturday and it wasn’t too busy. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. We sat down and was given complimentary strawberry cornbread which was pretty good and buttery. We started off with the fried green tomatoes and the meat pies which were both delicious! The fried green tomatoes were really crispy and it was served with a Cajun aioli(which I had to ask for more because it was so good). The meat pies were surprisingly the highlight of the meal for me! I didn’t know what to expect, but the pie was flaky and the meat inside had the perfect seasoning. It has to be one of my favorite things to eat now. As our entrees, my boyfriend got the jambalaya and I got the creole risotto and added shrimp to it(extra $ 5). The entrees came with a small salad. The creole risotto was definitely our favorite out of the two dishes. It was creamy and the seasoning was on point. Honestly, I thought it needed the shrimp, but with the large amount of flavorful vegetables in the dish, it was perfect the way it was. I looked around and almost every table had an order of the creole risotto and for good reason. The jambalaya was just ok and had a very strong tomato presence. The main reason why I have Bourre a 4 star instead of a 5 star was because the price is a little steep in my opinion, but I would come back for the good food and friendly service.
