The best place if you want to eat a plate of Brazilian food and not a buffet like Rei do Gado or Fogo de Chao. I love the Picanha and the chicken Milanesa. The place is small and has a small Market that sells Brazilian food and drinks. They also sell some clothes and sandals. Guarana is my fav drink. They sell it at the market as well. Best place to eat and hang out with friends.

Glad to know of another Brazilian food spot, and glad to know it’s not an all-you-can-eat and that it’s not in the Gaslamp. I’m hoping this place gets more exposure since it’s a bit out of the way and, in effect, out of sight from all the cars at the end of the 8. You probably can’t stumble upon this place unless you happen to be near it. I absolutely regret coming here without an empty stomach. I wanted to try more of what they offered, and the portions are fairly generous. Staff is nice, and they’re also very honest and attentive. They absolutely care if you’re enjoying the food. They also offer a few local beers on tap. And it’s not a guarantee that they’ll have any Brazilian beers as they have on their menu. Their supplier isn’t as reliable as they’d like. There’s plenty of street parking, even on a Friday night. I’ll be honest with you. Since I didn’t show up hungry, my lack of food capacity clouded some of my observations. Although they are positive, they’re also not as accurate as I’d like them to be. So, keep an eye out for a more updated and detailed follow-up review.

The food is alright. The appetizer are good. The small grocery store in the back where you can find Brazilian stuff is really good. I haven’t been at Brazil By The Bay in a while since I was going there mainly to watch soccer games. I’ve been in San Diego for 6 years and they still have some small crap tv’s. A bar where you have people all the time watching games and consuming at the same time you should have at least some nice TVs.

The food here is really good. Very filling. Don’t plan on going for a jog after. I would’ve never found this place if it wasn’t on Unilocal. You go thru a little bit of a sketch area to get to it but it’s worth the adventure.

I was here for the first time. My brazilian friends recommended to me this place. I tried really good Feijoada wich was so delicious and it was not spicy. Thank you for good service and cheap prices. I highly RECOMMEND for anyone!

Been coming here for many years for authentic Brazilian cuisine at reasonable prices. I usually get the PF chicken which is quite good. They carry Brazilian soda, fruit drinks, and beer… fun place to be when there is a soccer match on and they have a nice outdoor patio area. Hidden gem. Please hire more people however; there should be more than one waitress for 5 tables when the place is crowded and patience is not one of my virtues.

While visiting San Diego we found this gem! I’m so glad we came here for dinner! I had the Tri-tip Catupiry which comes with a creamy cheese au gratin and rice. Omg the sauce is out of this world!!! I devoured everything on my plate. The food is so authentic, none of that food chain crap here! I also tried their Guaraná Antarctica, a delicious Brazilian soda, resembles ginger ale. Can’t wait to come back when we are in San Diego.

Never thought this kind of food was so good. If you haven’t tried Brazilian food. you are definitely missing out! This restaurant kicks ass and all the girls are always so sweet and welcoming! And they are all from Brazil… HOTTIES!!! They are definitely an added bonus to the place. The chef here is AMAZING and always makes perfectly cooked food! My favorite is the sesame chicken salad. I could eat it every.single. Day. If you want to treat your taste buds with creamy deliciousness. try the beef stroganoff. Way too amazing for my own good. I would definitely Give this place a try it’s a perfectly relaxed establishment with awesome people and awesome food.

You going to a Gulls game and in need of some cheap beer?! Then you should pop in here. BUT be warned that the old guy that works here might be watching porn at the counter, and the servers might forget part of your order. This is the experience my six friends and I lived through. We did down about a dozen beers and spent less than $ 40 on the lot, and the food we did get(the Empadinha de Frango, Pizza Pastel) was tasty. But the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. We could’ve had just as odd of an experience at a Von’s less the gross old guy watching porn. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Update: the owner has sent me a few messages asking me to amend my review and say that the porn watching person was not an employee. Truthfully, I’m not sure if he was or he wasn’t, but he did seat us at our table so draw what conclusions you will from that.

We had Feijoada here and found that it was ok. I’ve had better one before. Although, i really liked the appetizers here specially Kibe and Empadinha de Frango. Coxinha was good too. Also, Bobó de Camarão was good — worth a try.

I’ll just let my pictures do the talking… A little scary of a place right behind the arena in a desolate strip mall but well worth the risk! Surprisingly, this place is full of locals and foodies! Come and have a little piece of Brazil.

I love everything about this place. Even with the strong reviews, I believe it’s still under rated. I walked in to this place on an early Saturday afternoon. It’s open with a small patio, a side bar and lots of smaller tables with open space to accommodate. It feels so San Diego with the doors open, nice breeze and relaxed interior and vibe. Belly up to the bar and grab a menu. Wow, everything on the menu sounds incredible. Had a very hard time making a decision and ordered the PF Cove & Calabresa, which is smoked sausage on top of collard greens, with rice, Brazilian beans, farofa and a couple Xingu beers. Xingu comes out first and was a nice surprise trying for the first time, I had to get a second. Nice rich dark beer with a slight bitter taste with a subtle sweet balance. The big plate gets thrown in front of me and looks beautiful. Amazing color on this dish and smells incredible. The greenest collards I’ve ever seen chopped so perfectly. The mixed of that delicious smoked sausage done so right, balanced on top of the collards was an experience and a half. Rice and beans were impressive as well. This is a family run business. The people who work here are very friendly. Nice couple of conversations I had while eating. I needed to leave as they offered a third beer or dessert. I had to stop in to the side market, trying just to look. Very charismatic man running this part, saw me looking at hot sauces and gave some great recommendations. Before I knew it, I was hooked walking out with 2 bottles of hot sauces, big cut of beef and a package of Tirolez. I appreciated his grilling and prep recommendations. All in all, a pretty incredible experience and in my top 10 favorite places to eat in San Diego.

I haven’t been here in a while, but I love this place. It’s a combination restaurant with a little market next door. Food is good and servers are friendly. The small market next door is what I’m reviewing mainly. It has snacks, some drinks, and other things, but it’s not like a fully stocked market with everything. They also have a small area with limited Brazilian memorabilia: flags, shirts, mugs, and other items. I picked up acai, some drinks, and snacks. The cheese rolls sounded good, I’ll probably pick some up next time. My wife was craving acai, so that was the main reason I stopped by. Of course I ended up picking up more than just acai. I just finished working out down the road, so worked up an appetite… and of course it’s usually not a good idea to shop when you’re hungry. I was tempted to grab a bite, but I know the wifey would have wanted to eat here with me. So we’ll probably stop in one of these days to grab a bite.

Given that I live in the US, my primary access to Brazilian food has come in the form of the all-you-can-eat meat-on-a-stick BBQ variety. Trying out something that’s different definitely enticed me. However, Brazil by the Bay did not necessarily provide the best introduction to entrée-based Brazilian cuisine. If nothing else, the excellence that is Fogo de Chao has spoiled me and left me expecting greatness. We walked in to a restaurant filled with people, more than zero(and none ironically) wearing cowboy hats. My first guess, that I had walked into a meeting of the San Diego Texas club, proved incorrect when I heard that there would be a Garth Brooks later that evening in the nearby Sports Arena. We began with the beef pastel appetizer, which basically consisted of an empanada re-imagined as an egg roll – a flat, greasy egg roll filled with somewhat flavorless ground beef. I then moved on to the main event, the extensively-named«papa freito couve and calabresa,» which I guess is Portuguese for sausage and collard greens. On first bite, I found the sausage tasty but then the saltiness eventually wore me down, and the collared greens or included sides did not excite me very much. That said, my attitude towards my meal might still be more favorable were it not for the fact the plate cost $ 11.50. Summary: Needs more skewers of meat.

If it weren’t for Unilocal,I don’t think I would have ever discovered this place. It’s the type of place, where you could drive by every day and never give it a second look. My date and I came here on the same night as the Garth Brook’s concert, so it was an interesting mix of cowboys and cowgirls dining that night. We were seated promptly and our waitress quickly got us our waters. I really wanted to love this place, but I think we got the wrong dishes from the menu. We started off with the beef pastel. Think of this as a giant rectangular wonton with seasoned grounded beef. The flavor was a little flat and it was a bit on the greasy side, but a few swipes of a napkin took care of that. For my entrée, I went with the prato feito beef dish that included rice, beans, and farofa. I’m sad to report that the beef was dry and flavorless. Thank goodness for the chili oil on the table, which gave it much needed flavor. The beans and the rice were also bland as well. It really makes me sad, because I just don’t think this was the best thing on the menu. Overall the service was friendly! Someday I’ll definitely have to give this place another shot, because there are a lot of unique options on the menu to try.

We’ve lived in point loma about a year and we just now discovered this spot. They’re celebrating their 12th year anniversary this month which is a major accomplishment in this industry. To celebrate, the owner is having $ 2 beers everyday until the end of October and we are very excited for that The owner made us feel right at home anand service was great! I had the Chicken Pato Feito with Carmelized onion and the Cohaxin appetizer. Both were amaaaazing. We have friends coming into town this weekend and can’t wait to introduce them to this place.

Seriously… I am in love with this place. I didn’t think to try Brazilian food other than fogo de chau or rei do gado, but I’m so glad I did! The service was amazing. Our waitress was so sweet and very helpful in the ordering process. The location of this place is a little hidden, but just look for the big Brazil By The Bay banner. First off, the fresh and delicious cheese bread(on the menu, it’s labeled Pão de Queijo)… It was really good, but I thought it was a little pricey. A full order came with 10 cheese breads for $ 8. If you’re here with one other person and have your own entrees, the half order should satisfy your craving. The breads might be made to order because when my boyfriend and I ordered it, took 15 minutes for those babies to come out and they were piping hot. The best thing is their rice! Sounds weird, but their rice must’ve been cooked in chicken broth because it had a little bit of savoriness in there. Portions are great — my boyfriend and I were both so stuffed after eating our entrees. Their tri-tip is… so good. It was cooked medium well and was perfectly seasoned! Definitely will come back here to try their entire menu.

Had to check out this Brazilian place. We ordered the Brazilian cheese balls(AMAZING), I ordered the Picanha steak with rice, beans, tomato salad… the steak was delicious, the beans tasted home made. They have alot of choices on the menu from desserts to variety of drinks. The staff is very friendly and super sweet. We recommend this place if your looking for some good brazilian food in a small relaxing apmosohere. Don’t leave with out trying the caramel flan, so delicious.

Loveeeee this place to pieces! The presentation is fabulous and the food is great! Started coming here a few years back and have always been getting the same thing: the kibe, the coxinha, and the grilled steak rechaud(quantity depending on the party – they have a half order for 2 people and full order for 4 people). To start off, we always order at least one of each appetizer: a coxinha and a kibe. The Coxinha is my favorite. It’s a mixture of shredded chicken and dough, molded, battered, and fried. I love the gooey/chewyness of this. The kibe is minced beef with grains? The texture is grainy but both these dishes are a must try for first timers! For the steak, they bring out a grill to your table where you can cook it more if you’d like or eat as medium rare. With this order you also get rice, bacon beans, tomato and onion salsa, and a grainy mix to go with your rice(I don’t know the name of it but it kind of tastes like pretzels). The grill has it where the meat is on a bed of onions and minced garlic, where the meat doesn’t get too cooked. It used to be a little different back in the day; meat wasn’t on top of the onions and the garlic was whole. The rice here is SOOOOGOOOOOD. wow. I’m getting hungry again. I think it’s cooked in chicken broth? I honestly can’t say but the flavor is ONPOINT. Not bland or too flavorful at all. The powder that comes with it is interesting in a good way. It adds flavor to the rice but not in a salty way. It’s a must try. I love the salsa here. It’s just tomatoes and onions in a vinegary sauce. Very simple yet so good. The beans are awesome. Chunks of bacon are mixed in and I love finding them as I eat my way to the end hahaha. The last time I visited with a friend from OC, We got so much food we took 4 boxes home… On top of the half order and two apps, we got the chicken strogonoff, and and order of ten pao de quejos. We got through maybe half of the cheese balls and took the rest home, reheated the next day ANDTHEYSTILLTASTEDFABULOUS.
