If you’re crawling through the bars in the Gaslamp, Brian’s 24 is a great place to soak up any of your bad decisions before doing a walk of shame, or stumble home after a night of fun. Once last call is announced, the restaurant gets pretty packed with patrons looking to get a hearty bite to eat. They have everything from breakfast to sandwiches and a variety of fried foods to help calm whatever craving you might have. The menu is pretty extensive, which is probably the hardest thing when you’ve imbibed — everything sounds fantastic and money is no object… because you just don’t care. I ended up going the simple route and stuck with a Belgian waffle. This was a big portion as it covered an entire plate. It was not only light and fluffy, I loved the whipped butter that came with it that I generously smeared all over before dousing in warm maple syrup. Super carby meals are best right before you go to bed, right? If that wasn’t enough, our table mauled an order of Carne Asada Fries that boasted being a pound in weight. There was a lot going on and a lot of hefty ingredients like cheese, sour cream, more cheese and meat. They weren’t the best I’ve had, but they definitely did the trick as an appetizer before the main meal. Service was friendly, but be prepared to wait a little bit as it gets really, really busy. The later you go, the better the people watching is. Totally worth a visit, especially if you’re out in the wee hours of the morning.

Take my review with a grain of salt, because I was drunk, and everything is better when you’re drunk. Positive vibes were flowing here at midnight on a Saturday. Quick stone’s throw away if you’re cruisin the Gaslamp, great place to sit and chill and sober up before the walk home. Drunk me can eat, and I inhaled the breakfast burger & fries. Really juicy/enormous/worth whatever I paid for it. Don’t remember what I paid for it, but man, really enabled me to brave the walk home after a night on the town. Dunno if I’d come here for Sunday brunch with the fam, but perfect for a diner vibe after a night out.

A friend really wanted to have breakfast here this morning around 7:30 which I wasn’t crazy due to the Super Lousy service I got 8 mos ago and Nothing has changed. We sat at our for almost 10 min waiting for menu and coffee, what we got was nothing but attitude from a male server with a mustache. I don’t want to hear you’re very busy and expecting a table for 25. I really didn’t appreciate being told I can get my menu over there by the entrance. My friend and I were so disgusted with the server’s attitude we got up and left, he also said something I didn’t hear but my friend did. We decided to go to Original Pancake House on Convoy, they were jammed up busy but we got coffee and menu with a smile right away. Rest assured I WILLNEVERGOBACKTO Brian’s 24 because their servers have lousy attitude on a regular basis. To the server whose name I never got, if you can’t handle the situation, I suggest you look for another job, you prick.

My food was good, and it should have been for that price!!! Biscuits and gravy with eggs for $ 15. Enormous portions. Can I get a half order for half the price next time? Questionable atmosphere. Guy next to us had two beers and a side of bacon at 8am on a Sunday…

We came here to grab a bite to eat before catching a show next door at the American Comedy Co. It was a Saturday evening around 8pm and they were not busy yet. We are seated promptly, our orders were taken promptly and the food came out in a timely manner. Our waiter was also very nice and even brought out a different dressing to try with my salad other than the one it already came with. The salads are huge and can be shared easily. Chicken and waffles were really good… the chicken was not dry, and the waffle was nice and fluffy on the inside. It comes with half a chicken! Drinks are a little pricey here but the food is decently priced I think. We had good service here and will most likely return again.

Good place. Food for everyone in your party. I got the Chicken and Waffles, with an egg over-hard. Wifey got the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with sweet potato fries. The menu is incredibly deep, so I’ll definitely be back to try more stuff. The breakfast is served all day which is always a plus in my book.

Awesome portions for your money! Service is also outstanding. I work at a bar downtown so normally come around bar closing time and there is normally a wait because the food is so tasty! Definitely try the French toast! You will not be disappointed!

I love this place just for the customer service! I was acknowledged before I even entered the restaurant which I feel is a rare thing in San Diego, most of the time it takes establishments 10 – 15 min to acknowledge customers over here for some reason, which really grinds my gears!(I’m from NYC so I expect everything to be done fast) You should acknowledge or greet your customers within 3 – 5 minutes of them walking in, in my opinion You definitely can’t beat the extra large portions they give for reasonable prices($ 10-$ 20 per plate, closer to $ 10 or under for pancakes & up to $ 20 if you want a big steak or something) Coffee was pretty good(free refills) I had the Salmon Benedict it was pretty great! I definitely have to come back for some pancakes! I saw some come out and they are GIGANTIC! Took up the entire plate! The stuffed French toast looked really great also but I was more in a savory mood so I didn’t get anything sweet Totally a place you can come to on a regular basis Lots of tourists because of the location but also locals at the bar just coming to have some breakfast. Parking will be tough depending on the day and time you come just to warn you! But remember federal holidays and Sunday’s street parking is free so don’t pay to park in a lot of you don’t have to

Brian’s is a great spot to stop in for a bite after a night of dancing. We made out way in late after the club doors were closing and grabbed an order to go back to the resort. I had the quesadillas that ended up getting eaten the next morning. I mention this to say that even hours later the food was still delicious and I am very glad that we made the stop the night before. The service was quick and they really know their clientele. People are here because its the middle of the night and the surrounding clubs are closing down. Perfect time to grab a bite to eat before getting in the Über. Give them a shot, I was pleased.

So, when you are hungry at 2 am in San Diego, where do you go? Apparently EVERYBODY goes to Brian’s 24. Its not everyday you have to stand in line, a line with bouncer’s mind you, to get into a breakfast joint. We sincerely thought we accidentally got in line for one of the nearby clubs or bars. Standing in line sounds horrible, especially when you are hungry at 2 am, but, it provided some of the best evening entertainment. The people watching was incredible. In fact, we lucked out and got a window booth, so the entertainment continued throughout our meal. Now, usually when you think breakfast at 2 am in an area crowded with clubs and hipster bars, you think drunk food. You expect food on line with the Awful Waffles of the world. The food here was a smack-you-in-the-mouth pleasant surprise. First off, the portions were humongous, so for the price, not bad at all. I easily made two meals our of my breakfast burrito. The tater tot basket probably weighed 2 or 3 pounds. No one in our group had any complaints about any of the food, and I would definitely make a return trip. The perfect combination of urban dinner, downtown deli and divey greasy spoon, this place was packed, fun and the food worthy of late-night alcohol induced hunger that doesn’t leave you feeling like you need a combination colonoscopy-cardiac catheterization in the morning. If you are in SD and can stay awake that late, then you have to hit Brian’s 24 sometime after midnight!

Amazing Burritos! This place was highly recommended to us as tourist of SanDiego. Finally we went in for brunch on a regular week day! Boy was it delicious. I had a steak breakfast burrito it was amazing. It was too big to finish the entire thing so I took half home. The staff was delightful and full of energy. Our waitress made some recommendations of the most popular foods and left it up to us to order. This place was packed and nevertheless our waitress was still very attentive and prompt. The food did not take long to come out after we ordered. I believe they have alcoholic drinks in the afternoon however I’m not 100% sure since I did not have one. Nor bothered looking at the drinks menu. I do believe I recall some drinking mimosas. This place is opened late and we almost dropped in after the club one night but instead picked up quick pizza and headed to bed. I recommend trying this place.

Great Downtown location, small and quaint restaurant with a bar. I kept seeing advertisements for Brian’s in the San Diego reader and who wouldn’t love a restaurant that’s open 24 hours. The pictures alone made me put this place on my «must try» list. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with mini-me. We both ordered the chicken and waffles with a side order of the tater tots. After seeing the table next to us receive their order of the pizza tots I was tempted to change my order. I was a little disappointed with the chicken and waffles, neither were as tasty as I thought it would be and I had high hopes considering we don’t have a Roscoe’s here. I may come back and try some other items on their menu.

The Quick: Huge portions, lots of cheese and bacon, and friendly staff with a few outdoor seats. A really solid breakfast spot if you’re in the area. The Details: I’m partial to all restaurants with outdoor seating as San Diego is so lovely. Brian’s was no exception. We grabbed a few spots outside and enjoyed a savory meal smothered in cheese and calories. The breakfast is just good stick to your bones yummy food. Although this spot is more of a 3.5 to me, and had a great vibe and I really liked our waiter so I’m rounding up. I would definitely eat there again. The Damage: Little pricer than some other options for breakfast, but the portions are huge.

Love this place! A must at any time of the day. Staff is great and prices are super reasonable, comparing it to the other spots in the same area. Definitely coming back. Officially, a go-to, for us.

I love breakfast, by far my favorite meal. Brian’s is a little off the Gaslamp beaten path. However, they have a decent menu to pick from and they are open 24 hours a day. They are open anytime you want to make the trek. I prefer to arrive early and avoid the line. If something isn’t on the menu, ask the friendly staff for a special request and they try to accommodate. Great service!

So… to start off this review is super biased because I don’t eat meat. I understand this place to have fantastic Chicken and Waffles. So just keep that in mind. Also, the service was ok, so this is not a reflection that at all. I just hoped for a little better. I ordered a grilled cheese and fries. It was pretty terrible. The cheese had no flavor and was totally the kind my mom would assure me was«good enough» when she slapped processed cheese betwixt process meat and bread. I grew super tall so I guess it doesn’t hurt… I guess… Anyway the fries were super meh as well. I did grab some tater tots and they were really good. So if you are there, go ahead and pay the extra money. Seriously. While my company was amazing, and our conversation awesome. I sorta couldn’t help but wish they had tomato soup and a nice grilled cheese. Again, This is a super focused review and I realize that not eating meat put me at a disadvantage. Still, I do expect better on the grilled cheese side. Just me?

Usually this is the place to go after a night in the clubs and the line is looooong once the stroke of 1am hits! And when is 1am the food tastes amazing especially that Monte cristo! the melting cheese and the salt of the turkey with that delightful sweet jam to tie all together! However, I went with some friends around 8 pm and ordered the Monte cristo was far from its praise worthy title. It was just ok, actually just dry and the cheese wasn’t even melty(insert sad face here) Service seems to better on busy hustling morning of 1 am versus an 8pm dinner with 5 people.

When I think of 24 hour restaurants the image of Denny’s or IHOP come to mind. Along with cheap, disappointing food. Not at Brian’s 24! My California burrito was freshly made and tasted wonderful! The carne asada was very flavorful and moist. The pepper jack cheese, fresh avocado and fire roasted salsa paired well with the carne asada. My salsa came on the side so I just dipped the burrito in it, wonderful! The french fries come on the side and inside your burrito. The fresh potato flavor came out and made me happy. Looking forward to frequenting Brian’s and trying out a new menu item on each visit! The Gaslamp Quarter, is a district of San Diego, California.
