Great, fun place to get cheap foodstuffs. If you want to relax and have a nice meal without worrying about breaking the bank this is your place! I wish this place was closer to my house I’d come here all the time. :3 nachos and fries are super fun and yummy!

I was really excited to try this place out. It was awesome that they had vegetarian options also. I ordered my veggie fries simple order not too difficult and everyone that ordered AFTERME got their food before me. And when I finally got my food the fries were not fresh either. I was disappointed. I am willing to try this place again but I’m very hesitant.

BESTSHRIMPBURRITO!!! They don’t play around man. They JAMPACK this bad boy with shrimp to the brim and add this sauce that just tastes like some kind of juice from the gods. I always come out of this place feeling like I soiled my body because of how good it is.

I’m convinced that bad reviews of this place are due to the fact that people are ordering the wrong things. With that said, get the shrimp burrito. I was skeptical of Burros at first, but I can assure you that they have one of the most solid shrimp burritos I’ve tasted. Several other people I know can also confirm this. They don’t play around. It’s an excellent value, as it’s filled with huge pieces of quality shrimp and this creamy sauce that I can’t get enough of. There’s also just the right amount of tomato and onion for extra flavor. NO cheap filler. NO rice, beans, cabbage, or cheese that I usually have to pick out at every other restaurant. I totally recommend any seafood lover to try it out.

They probably need 2.5 stars, very average. Burritos are big, but more expensive… so not really a deal. Got the California burrito, nothing special. Kids got nachos, average. We don’t live in the area, so no reason to come back. Very nice older couple came in and chatted with us, so I guess atmosphere is nice

Good place for tacos and burritos as well. Enchiladas are not good but they are typical taco shop. Good selection at sauces and carrots, limes, etc. Solid taco shop, good value, cocktail des cameron also good with lots of shrimp.

!!Please avoid the California Burrito! It’s a joke here. I got more fries then carne asada. I downloaded Unilocal to my phone just to make this comment. I understand there are fries but as I opened the burrito all I saw was fries on fries on fries. The cashier said«well It does come with fries» first time here and last. If I’m paying 7 dollars for a burrito of fries no thanks! Don’t be skimpy. Or train your cook. I’m a very unsatisfied customer. Thanks for the fries

Clean location Short wait time We had fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and carnitas tacos — very good!!! Fresh Additionally, this little shopping center is pretty low key so it’s great. It’s adjacent to Burlington Coat Factory

The food is good. If I didn’t have to wipe down my own table every time I came here, well, that would just be awesome.

I’ve been here around 3 – 5 times, and I have never been disappointed! The cashier is really nice AND they take credit cards, AMEX included! :) I have always gotten the carne asada fries because they add tomatoes, which really add more flavor. 10⁄10 would come here again. Maybe I’ll try more foods in the future :)

Had the Cotija’s Burrito: Carne asada and strips of anheheim peppers simmered in a creamy sauce with jack and cheddar cheese, with a spread of beans. Really good flavor combination, skimpy amount of beef. Prices a little higher than most taco shops. Burrito was under filled(not bulging stuffed). Shop is really small, about 6 tables.

Everyone in San Diego loves burritos and fries, especially the Mexican kind. I’m guessing thats how this place came up with its name, because they serve awesome damn burritos here. Supposedly according to a sign hanging up, this place was started by a guy whose father opened the original Cotijas taco shop back in 74 in San Diego. Burros and Fries has several locations around San Diego, the Clairemont location is tucked away in a mall next to the movie theaters off Clairemont Dr. The cashier here had a hard time of understanding me and I had a rough time understanding her, so my order didn’t come out exactly like I had ordered(wanted a side of guac), but none the less the food tasted great. Starting off with their salsa bar( ) which sports five sauces, limes, and hot carrots all free for your taking. Although when I got there, a lot of the hot carrots were already taken for the day, the cashier is more than willing to give you a free baggie to take some home. Out all of all their sauces, my favorite was cotijas medium sauce( ) had just the right flavor, texture and spiciness. Although their guacsalsa seems to be the most popular here, I didn’t care for the salty taste of it, and it really didn’t taste like guac to me at all. Their basic California burrito( ) came out of its wrapper piping hot, even after the drive home. Size-wise the burrito didn’t seem to be any larger or bulker at all than average. Inside their California( ) they pack asada, fries, cheese and pico de gallo which is the norm for most SD shops. Burrito tasted great with its perfectly crispy fries, melted cheese goodness and flavorful carne asada. They make damn good«burros» here, I absolutely enjoyed their take on the California. Rolled tacos here( ) are quite delicious as well, but if you liked melted cheese on your tacos, not gonna happen here. The cheese wasn’t really melted on top, but that was okay with me because the ingredients on there tasted great, especially their guacamole. Tacos were crispy, fresh and had a meaty chicken inside. Overall nothing but good fresh food here. For me what really made this place great was the quality of the food, attention to executing the correct ratios inside the burrito and their hot sauces. Their hot sauces are damn good here, all of them tasted great on the food, they definitely added lots of additional flavor to it. All this added up to another great taco shop in the Clairemont area.

BEWAREVEGETARIANS!!! I actually did not get to try the food here. The cashier was very rude and condescending. When I asked if the beans and rice in the«vegetarian» burrito had any chicken stock or lard in it she said YES! I asked how that made it vegetarian and instead of offering me other options she just stared at me blankly. Very deceptive. It’s a little shady when restaurants do that with a veggie burrito but when they call it a vegetarian burrito it’s out and out lying!

The food is decent but the cashier is always really rude. I usually wouldn’t complain but today she made fun of me in Spanish for ordering food to go and then leaving to go get and iced coffee at Starbucks while I wait. Despite my skin color I do know Spanish and I don’t appreciate a cashier making fun of me to another Spanish speaking customer when I spend my money at that establishment. I will not eat here again.

Cheap fish tacos Monday-Friday. The fish taco came in corn tortilla so if you want flour you need to tell them that when you order. The fish itself was pretty small but for the cost, it was ok.

You might look at this spot; and considering the plethora of amazing Mexican food spots littering every area of SD, may decide to go elsewhere. Don’t. This place is bomb. Every item I’ve tried has been on point and the service /employees are awesome. Delicious food — and if you’re in Clairemont square for whatever reason and feeling like some Mexican food — get down! You won’t regret it!

I love the Cotijas Salsa! They are always fast and friendly! They have a wide variety of items to choose from and are very accommodating to our vegetarian ways! They have a variety of salsas to choose from as well as drinks. That also serve beer:)

Tacos and beers? Yes please! TACOTUESDAYSPECIALS: I came here for Taco Tuesday tonight. The Tuesday specials are: $ 1STREETTACOS — Carne Asada, Pollo Asado, Carnitas, Fish, Shrimp $ 1BEERS — 7 oz Corona or Pacifico. Yes, 7 oz only, I believe they are for kids. MENU: They have the usual burritos, tacos, fries, as well as tortas(sandwiches) and caldos(soups). As far as protein goes, they have carne asada, pollo asado, carnitas, fish, and shrimp. They don’t have my favorite lengua! For soft drinks, they have the regular soda, horchata, jamaila, and tamarindo. Beers they have the standard ones like Budweiser and Corona. Burros & Fries don’t have a menu online(at least not yet), so I took a few pictures of the menu: Hope that helps! SALSABAR: The salsa was decent, I personally think it was not spicy enough. But I did like the carrots that they had. Here is a picture of the salsa bar: TACOS: I had the carne asada, fish, and shrimp tacos. My personal favorite was shrimp. Honestly, they were just mediocre, not bad, but nothing special(considering we have great Mexican food all over San Diego). But I was still happy because they were just a dollar each. And yes, the portion also reflected the low price because it was tiny teeny. CLEANLINESS: Very clean and sanitized LOCATION: The restaurant is located at a mall called Clairemont Square. The mall is super duper big so I took me a while to drive around the mall to look for this tiny teeny restaurant. FYI the restaurant is next to Pacific Theaters 14 which is easier to spot. I will be back for Taco Tuesdays if I am nearby.
