Delightful, ameretto cookies are just perfectly sweet. A bright, cozy space. Inviting and comforting European pastries and lovely coffee drinks. The croissants are perfectly sized, not jumbo fat-ass like you find so often now. Quick service, easy pay. Welcoming vibe. Live this place and the neighborhood is in. Did I just leave the US?

Great coffee, friendly staff, and fresh pastries! What else do could you ask for?!? Oh, how about amazingly good panini, including a breakfast panino and a vegetarian panino that are both delicious. We love coming here on Sunday mornings and just relaxing with a couple of cappuccinos and croissants. Service is a little slow, but it’s understandable as the shop is small and everything is made fresh. If you’ve been to Europe, no one is in a rush there. So set your expectations accordingly, relax and enjoy it for what it is: a trip to a quaint French bakery without the hassle of the airport or customs line.

A bison(latte with Nutella® down the side of the cup so that each sip is lightly sweetened with hazelnut chocolatey goodness) and a feta mushroom quiche is my standard«I’m treating myself» day — it never disappoints. The chai tea is the best I’ve had in San Diego as well, they use a brand called David Rio Tiger or Elephant Chai and it is an amazing blend. Usually you get an adorable barista that’s super helpful or a woman that seems like she might be the owner… occasionally you get an apathetic teenager that hates her life… you just never know! The biggest downfall is no AC… so don’t even bother on a hot day(which are plenty in SD…) Go here to escape the crazy world outside and transport yourself to a small bakery in France for a minute…

The word«charming» sums it all up for Café Madeleine. You really feel like you’ve traveled to Paris when you come here. The coffees are made very well and the croissants are baked fresh daily. Go early in the morning when the baked goods are made for an ultimate aromatic and tastebud experience.

I always leave so happy! There is so many options on their drinks menu and the ones I’ve tried are delicious. I definitely recommend the London fog tea. If you are considering having lunch here the Brie panini is very yummy. Don’t forget to try from the large array of desserts! The customer service is excellent. If You haven’t eaten here yet, you should give this place a try, you won’t regret it.

Perfectly charming, quaint little café with plenty of outdoor seating, perfect for dogs, babies, and enjoying a little San Diego sunshine. The spinach crêpe was well executed, flavorful and dripping with mozzarella and bechamel, very filling, and something I’d definitely recommend to a friend. My cappuccino was delicious. The bathroom is suuuuuper tiny but I managed to wrangle a diaper on my baby with minimal acrobatics. Overall a lovely neighborhood spot to which I plan on returning when the crêpe fancy strikes me again.

Pros: Panini’s. These things are awesome. I particularly like the breakfast panini and the prosciutto panini. Friendly service. Cons: Like dude, seriously, clean up a little. We sat next to the far left wall by the straws, lids, etc. The wall was splattered with what looked to be spills dating back to a time when Soulja Boy had the #1 song in the country. #SpongesandWindex

It’s a really quaint French style café in South Park. The neighborhood has cute vintage stores, hair salons, and restaurants. The thing that made Café Madeleine stand out is the red umbrellas and French style outdoor furniture. I had a tea latte with honey and it was delicious. The barista was really nice and friendly and came around the counter to show me their tea selection. I would have loved to sit inside next to their big windows, but it was hot inside so I sat outside and got to people watch while writing instead :)

Biggest downfall is no A/C. During these past couple weeks with the San Diego weather being hotter and MUCH more humid than normal, it’s hard to want to go out and sit in your own stickiness while trying to enjoy yourself. Ordered an iced chai latte and it was delicious! The establishment is very quaint. The inside is cute and cozy and I love that there is plenty of outdoor seating.

Excellent food and drinks. service is an issue. I had a similar experience as Deniz(see review a few spots below). I do not like the register process of being coerced to tip by exposing your selection to everyone in the café(they swivel the tablet around and it faces everybody in line). There are 1 – 2 servers that will stare you down while asking you to make a gratuity selection. In the times I didn’t tip, my drink came out after people that were in line behind me. and on a couple occasions, the drink needed to be remade because of missing ingredients. This never happens when I tip. Feel free to draw your own conclusion. That all said, there is a server(Joanna?) who is outstanding. I tip her every time she is working because I know she will provide top quality service(regardless) and does not expect it. Very welcoming and friendly. At the end of the day, management needs to have a conversation with the staff. I would consider getting rid of the current checkout terminal as it is very invasive to customers. Hopefully, this review reaches ownership — as I would hate to cross this great spot off my list.

This place is awesome had the chicken panini and it was toasted to perfection. Add in pear and Gorgonzola cheese. Great choice. The service was great and chill. The barista explained everything with detail and It helped a lot. I didn’t try the coffee but it did look good as well.

At a first glance this place looks very cute. You will find yourself in a French setting. It’s kept up not too good since it’s pretty dusty inside. They drinks and food are really good but a bit overpriced. My main concern although is their arrogant French service, and still expecting to tip them. I just can feel the pressure that I should tip on the cashier even though she has an attitude. If you would like to try overpriced, but decent crepes and a nice latte, you’re at the good place. If you are claustrophobic, allergic, and expecting good service, don’t go.

Crepes are one of those foods I could eat for every meal without craving much else, and so having a cute French café on our same block, serving up these stuffed delicacies, is actually quite a danger to my wallet and belly. Café Madeleine is just as cute as the little cake it’s named after. From the tiny, European store-front, outdoor seating and chalkboard menus, you’d think you were on the other side of the world. The food and coffee is quite different from what you’d find in France, but the service is(unfortunately) similar to the French variety. The servers weren’t exactly friendly in taking, placing, or delivering our order– let’s just say I would not make this the first place I went to for friendly service! Fortunately the menu is good, the portions are hearty, and the ambiance really is nice. I would definitely recommend this crêpe place to anyone in the area, and I feel very fortunate to add it to my list of neighborhood spots.

This café has great crepes and espresso. Today we tried their French Onion soup and it was the best I’ve ever had! While we were there, a little girl spilled her hot chocolate and the staff was so helpful and sweet when they cleaned it up. It was so great to see her smile afterwards.

This is a very small place that’s chic, but kind of pricey. I think the best thing that you can say about it is that it is «cute». This really looks like a tiny ad-on to an existing building — a sort-of façade. Hard to believe that they can make anything to eat in this shoebox! The food is OK — I had the chicken panini sandwich, which was tasty but small and not hearty. This might be a good place for a cup of coffee in the morning, but I don’t recommend it for a substantial meal.
