Cal Copy

This place is TERRIBLE. If you are looking for something more than making basic copies on a copy machine (which you can do for free at any library) then stay away from this place. The old man who works here has no idea how to use his own machines. He basically asks for you to come behind the desk and do it yourself. I wish I could give them ZERO stars. Seriously I wasted over half an hour of my time trying to do this mans job. The worst experience of my week!

The correct address is actually 575 Ash. The gentleman who helped me was very fast, friendly, and courteous. I would definitely return if I have any future needs for report binding, etc.

I was helped out here by the older gentleman very nicely this week (Amir ??). I personally witnessed him managing the service counter, cash register, customer phone calls and the actual production of copies.
Given all the poor man had to do simultaneously I think he does a admirable job of time management and priority setting !! For example, he double-​sided some critical study flashcards I had to have that night to return to the friend who’d I’d borrowed them from. I got there on my way home from work at about 4:50 and he had my order done by 5:03 — perfectly centered and double-​side copied onto heavier index-​card stock for only $ 13.50.
In between my copies he handled a rush fax a non-​profit organizer had to get to New York city by a 5:00 SHARP deadline to get his funding project proposal in.
I guess I cut people more slack when I can see an honest customer service effort, but others who are of the …“Want it-​NOW!!”, two-​second attention span just rub me the wrong way. Funny how criticism has become the new pastime online, but hey,
I’ll be returning to Cal Copy for all my copy needs, as supporting local downtown businesses against the mega-​corporations is an interest of mine…

Amazing that this spot is able to survive in a world of FedExes and Ups Stores!
The one-​man operation, slooooooow as it may be, held it down for me. Sent out a cheap fax and played a YouTube video in foreign language at full blast for entertainment! I have no clue how this place manages to stay in bizness, but i walked outta there thankful for them being there. Nevermind FedEx!

Extremely fast and friendly service. I live in the neighborhood so I come here all the time to make copies and scans. There is never a long wait to use any of their services. Keep in mind I walk here so I’m not sure how parking is. So far, no issues with services. Thanks Cal Copy

I’m disappointed with my experience at Cal Copy, not that I even got in the door.
I’ve used their other locations before and today I had some urgent work I needed to get printed; I thought of them because they’re open on Sundays. This would have been my first experience with their downtown location.
I called Cal Copy around 2pm and they said they’d be open until midnight. I told them I’d be in at 7pm, well before closing time. Then, at 6:15 I called *from the highway* to let them know I was on my way from Poway (right on time) and they told me «we’re closing now — so unless you can get here within 15 minutes, we won’t be open.» I mentioned I was told just a few hours earlier that they’d be open until midnight, and I had spoken to someone then to confirm I’d be there at 7 and was actually already on my way from Poway, and they replied, «we’re going home now, it’s been a long day. Go to FedEx Copy Center» (!!!)
They could not have made me feel less valued as a customer.
I understand long days completely — because here I am now on a Sunday evening struggling to find another copy place that’s open so I can get *my* work done and go home for the night. Totally unreliable and unprofessional, and in my opinion, pretty rude.

Amir is a doll. I was making some copies for my Pudgy and Pals book series, walked in here and for a mere $ 5 he cropped, chopped, copied and sent me on my way with 50 copies of what I needed.
This isn’t a fancy looking place a la Fed Ex Kinko’s, but it has everything you need to get the job done. It’s local and the service you receive is personal.
