This place is excellent great food. The next time I am in San Diego I’ll surely find this place. My waiter David was excellent. I highly recommend Chianti for lunch and dinner.

Great location in the heart of the Gaslamp District & good service. However, the food was over-priced and mediocre. Not bad, but nothing special. Ordered the Lobster Ravioli as my main entry, it was ok.

Went to Chianti with a group of 22 people and David and all the other servers took such good care of us all! They even went to the extent of splitting the check into multiple different bills. After a great meal and friendly service the main chef came out to talk to us all and make us feel even more welcome. The manager helped us find a good club to go to after our dinner and had the promoter meet us after our dinner to walk is there and give us free entry. 10⁄10 recommend going there! Great food and even better people!

Last night, we decided to do a spontaneous night out, and we found the Groupon for Chianti. Our waiter David was personable, polite, and knowledgeable on his plates and wines. He suggested a Chianti wine that was wonderful. I had the pesto seabass and my boyfriend had the ribeye steak. Both cooked beautifully. He even cracked jokes with the group party they had that evening. He made it a comfortable night for everyone. I liked the ambiance. It felt like being in Little Italy NYC with the authentic inside. So many restaurants come and go in San Diego, so I liked that this one had a swanky touch to it. They also take complimentary photos if you want one. Thank You David! We don’t go out often so you made our date night special!

Great service. Great food. Made a reservation on New Years Eve and was seated right on time. They gave me an option to sit either inside or outside and I chose outside cause they do have heaters. My plate was unbelievably tasty and had a good portion. I will definitely come back when I’m in town! Oh, and the drinks were nice and strong!

Yummy! My bf and I had dinner here for New Year’s Eve and were very happy with the service, the food, the drinks and just everything. I really recommend the shrimp pasta, it’s finger licking good!

David is ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! Not only did he help plan my husband’s proposal to me after his homecoming from deployment, but he is also just an EXCELLENT waiter. Food is fantastic. Drinks are perfect. Service is impeccable. We’ll always come back!

I ordered lobster ravioli and brick oven pizza. The lobster ravioli was small portion $ 33 for lunch. Ok. That was fine. But the pizza… it is speechless. The dough was good if there was no low quality chopped chicken on the top. You will be surprised. Simply service was good, food was very disappointed. I expect more than this, when I am going to downtown SD restaurants. Don’t waste your money and time for this place unless they fix their menu and price.

This restaurant exceeded all non-expectations. My girlfriend and I only chose this place because be we found a good deal on Groupon and it was close to the ballet we were attending later that night. The service was of the highest quality and the food was, if I’m speaking honestly, the best Italian food I’ve experienced in San Diego yet. If you can get the same deal we received, I definitely recommend getting some of their finer dinner items. Five stars!

Great food! Calami was fabulous! Good imported beer! Lamb chops were tender and delicious, lobster ravioli was decadent! Our server, Tom, was very attentive and had great suggestions! Tiramisu is superb! All over, great experience!

We had lunch here on Thanksgiving Day. Must say my chocolate martini was amazing, but food was so bad we couldn’t eat it :(the source on my husband seafood risotto and my pasta tasted the same, it was very sour/spoiled. We got a feeling that they were very short staffed and I wish we never eat there. Bill was $ 94 we didn’t eat the food and wish we only come here for drinks. Shame for such a nice looking place to have such horrible food.

Ok, Groupon deal, service good, food recommended :) we had the lasagna, linguini and clam sauce and the lamb, tiramisu and the caprese salad. Overall food experience flavor etc very good. I didn’t give a full 5 start because the restrooms can be kept better.

Wow! We were just walking around San Diego when we discovered this place. We had no data on our phones so we couldn’t look up any places, and there are sooo many restaurants to choose from in this area. It looked busy but not chaotic busy and no crazy waits, so we chose to eat here. Lucky us because dinner was amazing! We had the burrata salad to start with. Such a good salad! The cheese was amazing and went so well with the arugula, prosciutto and balsamic dressing drizzled. I think it was actually one of the best cheese I’ve ever had(and I love cheese!). After struggling to pick a main, we saw some of the dishes that tables around us had, and also asked our waiter for some recommendations. We finally decided on the lasagna and the penne michelangelo which were both delicious! The lasagna was cheesy and creamy, and the michelangelo had a sort of tomato-tarty taste. Both really good in their own way, but also depends on your preferences! We had the tiramisu for dessert, and it was pretty good. It’s in a cup though, and a bit difficult to eat as it tastes best if you eat all components of the tiramisu instead of just one layer. A lot of digging with the spoon. Maybe they should reconsider serving it in a flat dish instead? I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a good Italian place in SD. Felt super lucky to have randomly walked into a good restaurant!

Fantastico! Romantic atmosphere inside and festive atmosphere outside. Authentic Italian with large portions. The seafood risotto was perfecto and the veal was tender and served with the best faro I’ve ever had. Could not be more pleased with our visit to the GasLamp district. Tori is a charming hostess, vibrant and supremely amiable-even taking the trouble to call us on our personal phones to avoid a wait. Youssef-the waiter was knowledgable and made us feel very much at ease.

Came here for a late dinner and sat on their lovely patio. Our entire dining experience was great. They have a very nice wine selection — plenty of wine by the glass options. We started with the cheese board(asiago, brie and gargonzola accompanied with olives, crostini, fig jam and sliced pear). For dinner, I had linguini pescatora with a lobster tail. Absolutely, delicious. My bf had the tagliatelle primavera and said the same. The sauce had great flavor and the seafood was fresh. I highly recommend Chianti if you are in the mood for Italian food, a nice atmosphere, and friendly service.

We stopped in and sat at the bar for happy hour one evening. The restaurant was packed and vibrant/energetic. Service we received from the bartender was very nice, prompt and attentive. Food also served in decent time, considering how busy they were. The items we ordered were very nicely prepared and fresh. Meatballs were incredible and a meal all by themselves! The restaurant was nice, clean and very well-decorated to feel authentic. They offer a vast menu too.

Roaming around the gas lamp district and came upon Chianti. It wasn’t our first choice as «the Strip Club» was closed on New Years Day, but I’m sure glad that we did. The rating should be 3.5 stars. Service — started out a bit on the rough side and didn’t get much attention, but later got our waiter to come around a bit more. Food — — Bread was ok — Meat and Cheese Board was a bit heavy and could have used maybe a few pickles or fruit — I got a meat pappardelle pasta dish that was just okay. — He got the squid ink pasta and I was immediately jealous that I didn’t get that for myself. It was one of the best squid ink pastas I’ve tasted with just the right amount of salmon and cream sauce. — Free tiramisu with Unilocal check in! Woo!

I would actually prefer to give this little Italian Bistro 31⁄2 stars but I had to make a choice between 3 and 4 so in fairness I went with 3. The server was very efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. We sat outside on a lovely patio that was clean and well prepared for guests. The bread was delicious served with I’ve olive oil and vinegar. I found the lasagne to be salty and rubbery as if it was reheated by a microwave instead of freshly baked in an oven. The pizzas were well prepared and cooked. The toppings were fresh and plentiful. The tiramisu was just ok. I have had much better.

Great venue, great food, all around a 5. Well done. I had 2 specials. A fish stew in a saffron based broth. This was followed by a pesto crusted pacific sea bass over pasta. Great balance.

Nice Gaslamp Italian spot. The squid ink linguini with smoked salmon, caviar, and cream sauce was top notch — one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had. Cheese and meat plate appetizer was ok. A little too heavy on the cheese. Could have used a bit more fruit. Couldn’t finish with two people. Free tiramisu with Unilocal check in! Free food always tastes good… David was an exceptional waiter with local activity recommendations for out of town diners.
