Chip’s Liquor

Chip’s is the place to be if you’re looking for a variety of beers, liquors or wines at favorable prices, although their munchies section does not disappoint. The staff is especially friendly and always willing to help, particularly if a product you want is not in stock, which it rarely is. The guy behind the counter, Rivani, has on several occasions made special orders for me upon request. Besides being the best store in the PB area, the location is also as convenient as can be. They also support local San Diego businesses and breweries which is a huge plus. Have been an avid customer at Chip’s for years now and it is highly recommended!

How old am I? I have been coming to Chip’s Liquor for like 15 years. Before I was even 21 I remember coming in to buy Vanilla Sweet Dream ciggs. Lol. Well thankfully I have moved on from ciggs to craft beer.
Chip’s offers a wide variety of craft beer as well as an extensive selection of fine wines & top of the line liquors. You won’t find the rarest beers in the world here, but they do carry Almanac, Russian River, Cantillon, and all the local breweries among others.
They are a family run business and over the years I have gotten to know them well. I’ve read some people think they price gauge here. Not the case at all. I mean it is the Beach area, but all stores in the beach area unfortunately have a smidgen higher pricing. If you want to pay dirt cheap prices for low quality items, head down to the hood.
Besides obviously carrying adult beverages here, they also have a wide variety of sexytime mags, snacks, Lotto, ICE, and I’m pretty sure they still carry Racing Forms here… perfect timing, since The Del Mar Racing Season just kicked off yesterday.

Awesome and down to Earth employees/​ownership. Great supply of beer/​wine/​spirits! Better than the average liquor store in PB for sure in terms of personanism.

DON’T GO HERE! There are loads of great liquor stores in sd and at least 3 just in PB/​Crown point with big craft beer selections and good service.
Went in the other day to buy a rare beer/​see if it was in stock… owner of the store told me he was out of the beer. Next day I go to a different, reputable store and see if they have the beer, guy says no but his distributor said «chips liquor» has 2 bottles.
So I go back into chips the next day and say hey man I heard you have 2 bottles of this beer? He sighs and rudely says «uhhhh ok I sell you 1.» As if the turd was doin me a favor as I handed him $ 21.99
Next day I send a friend in to grab a bottle for herself because its a great/​rare beer. Jerk owner rips off the price tag IN FRONT OF HER and charges her an extra 3 bucks. Guy is a total greedmonger. I called him and told him I would never be back again and that he lost a customer by being a greedy turdnugget. DONT SUPPORT

riv was able to help me out with some harder to find beers. he takes the time to go out if his way to actually find the beer you want.
the beer selection is increasing dramatically here.

Shout out to my homies at Chip’s. They know how to make people feel at home. I can’t walk into a Ralph’s or 7 – 11 and get the same treatment. Sometimes I walk in and think ill just grab my ish and go but then I find myself talking alcohol and sports and life with the owners. It’s like I’ve known them forever. You can’t get that kind of interaction at a chain store. Support small businesses and support Chip’s!

This place has everything that will quench your thirst. I have been coming to Chips Liquor store for many years and always find what I am looking for. They just recently remodeled the entire store making immaculate and one of the nicest, cleanest Liquor stores in San Diego County. They always have familiarly smiling faces working behind the counter. These guys are always friendly and willing to help you out. If you can’t find what you are looking for (which is hard to do with their HUGE selection of Liquor, Wine and Beers) they will order it for you. Chips Liquor also has a big selection of Kegs that you can order if you are entreating lots of guest. Chips Liquor is so cool that they support their local breweries and have a section dedicated to these breweries. Again no matter what you are looking for Chips Liquor Store seems to have it or if not they will get it for you. I would recommend anybody looking for a specialty drink or convenience should check this place out…

Like the place, cashiers are always nice, and never failed to find the beer I wanted. Kind of the deal breaker for me.

I have caught the old guy adding extra money onto my total on two occasions now. I will not be going back.

This place is a little ghetto but has a great selection of alcohol, smokes and magazines (especially adult magazines and they even carry High Times). The workers are all no-​nonsense, non-​amiable folk which is to be expected of such a joint, so don’t go in all cheery and try to be chatty with them.
4 stars for selection, convenience (they are located right by my apt) and unpredictability of patrons.
