I woke up crying in pain after surgery i am a big guy 6’2320 lb. this was my 4ith surgery that i have had in my 33 years. They swapped my RN as well and my anesthesiologist 3 times. So it was really hard to feel comfortable with them. I am still in a lot of pain it has now been 3 hrs after my surgery. My moth was so dry and i felt sick. I will add more to this as time goes on. I am so unhappy its not even funny. i hope at some point 99% of the people that helped me to day and made my life hell for the past few hrs get the same treatment as they were so kind to give me to day. After writing this the PA called me and told me i can not be in so much pain because i was feeling well enough to send this email here to you Julie.

First, let me give you the low down. A few years ago, I had an accident where I twisted my left knee severely, but, I simply put ice on it for a few days and wore a small knee brace. Eventually, the swelling went down. However, weeks after, months after, I noticed my knee felt weaker, unstable and jittery when I would run, play sports and go dancing. I knew I had caused some serious damage to my knee but I guess at times my knee would seem fine for weeks, and then I would end up tweaking my knee playing a sport. I don’t know why I waited two years to have my knee checked out but on September of 2009 I finally went in to Kaiser Permanente. I had a few x-rays and MRI’s done and it was clear that I had a torn ACL. So, I decided to have my surgery sometime in December that way I would have a break from school and I can ask for two months off from work. Days before my surgery, I found out I would be having my surgery down at Coast Surgery Center with DR. Fithian from Kaiser Permanente. On December 22, 2009 I showed up to Coast Surgery Center at 6am. I was scared but at the same time I felt good that I was finally going to have my knee fixed. Aside from Dr. Fithian being an amazing surgeon, the facility and the staff were amazing. An hour before my surgery, the nurse did what she had to do and she was professional, courteous, kind and made me feel comfortable. Even the staff helping Dr. Fithian were amazing. See, I have a phobia with hospitals, blood, needles… well you get the point. Basically, they were making conversation with me and I never once saw any surgical tools or needles so they did a great job keeping me calm and feeling comfortable. I was happy about that. Overall, The facility is great, the staff are wonderful and due to their surgical instruments and DR. Fithian, I ended up with an amazing knee surgery that went well.

This is an outpatient surgery center located by Montgomery Air Field and down the way to the east of Sharp Memorial Hospital. Pretty convenient location and parking. I arrived on a very hot day with my husband and baby to get a medial branch block which is a diagnostic test/pain procedure to control pain in the back… Anyways… The waiting room is very clean and calming, a large fish tank with lots of salt water fish. The receptionists were very very nice!!! I filled out the paperwork and was getting ready for my procedure. The air conditioning felt real nice. A nurse in scrubs came in and took me to the procedure area, got me quickly in a gown and started an iv in my own private room. She then asked questions and was very nice!!! She then got my 2 year old son and husband and let them come sit with me while I waited. The nurses gave my son juice and played with him before I went into the procedure room. Another really cool nurse even brought out her I phone and we shared APPS. The procedure went well, and I am pleased with how quickly we were in and out 2 and a half hours. Basically this is a surgery center that doctors have set up to perform their procedures outside of the office. I am real pleased with the professionalism and overall kindness of the staff. My doctor is amazing as well, Dr. Wilson is very calm, patient, wise, extremely intelligent and has over 20 years of experience. There is a maximum parking fee of 5 dollars so bring cash or a check book. I have another appointment in a few weeks, I will take pics then. Good job Coast Surgery Center for making my pain procedure a less of a pain…
