great atmosphere and service. on the fence about the gluten free items though. I have eaten there a few times now and each time my food allergies flare up. Must be some cross contamination with pans and ovens. unfortunate.

My husband and I were looking for a new place to try for date night. We ordered the calamari and meatball sliders to share. And we ordered the Gayle and Savanna pizzas. The calamari was good but my favorite was the meatballs! Definitely a must when you come here, will come back!

The food is always great, unfortunately the service is slow most times I’ve come in. I’ve had to go ask for my drinks due to long wait time after server took order, same with food coming out — very slow. I’ve also experienced other tables(4 top) getting their food faster and they came in 10 or more min after me(2 top) with and order of a kids pizza and mixed green ahi salad(which is yummy!). Hoping this place gets it together but so far I’ve had 1 great experience out of 5 visits. It is the last place I’ll dine in right now. Would frequent Crust more often if the service was better. Come on Crust, I want to like you!!!

We ordered a take out of Two Torrey Hills salads and a large pizza. The chicken on the salads was minuscule and undercooked. The salad barely had any of ingredients per the menu(walnuts, grapes, cheese)? There was at best one grape that had been chopped into micrometer slivers… Perhaps one walnut pulverized into dust. The pizza was missing some of ingredients we ordered such as the pepperoni ! I think this place is challenged to hire and retain staff. There appears to be no quality control here…

The most amazing crust. Also, goat cheese, so enough said. Service is superb and a diverse drink selection. Try the Halter Ranch Synthesis.

Given the Unilocal reviews, we had high hopes. (Our First Visit) Upon entry we noted they had x2 groups of people(8 – 14 in each group) that were very loud!(I realize restaurant/bars can only control their patrons to a certain degree.) Our waitress took our pizza order. Pizza arrives. Crust is nice and crispy, albeit very light on the cheese… and given the menu said it had garlic, we expected to see/taste… some garlic! Nonetheless not the best nor the worst pizza we have had. As for service, thats where the staff dropped the ball. Our waitress took our order/brought our Tea/Soft Drinks and was never seen again! Pizza was delivered to the table by someone from the kitchen(perhaps the husband of the husband and wife duo who own this establishment?) As for our waitress, no «How how’s your pizza, is there anything I can get for you, no offer of/or drink refills etc. After eating our pizza and waiting a while, I made eye contact with who I assume is the owner hoping she would take the hint we were ready to have our remaining pizza boxed/and would light a fire for someone to bring the check… But No she and the staff were focused on chatting with those from the 2(loud) parties. We continued to wait, and wait, until finally I approached who I assume is one of the managers and asked If we could please have a box, and our check. Its a nice restaurant, and I’m guessing the rest of the food is decent, however if you’re that couple who are«in the minority» simply attempting to receive good service… and the staffs focus is on a large group or two… You may face a similar challenge!

Crust Pizza not only had the best pizza in Carmel Valley but also has the best service ever! Brian Conrad, general manager has over exceeded any and all expectations on the service front. I came in w my twin brother who ordered a pepperoni pizza to go and for kicks I ate all his pepperoni off his pizza. Brian, feeling badly asked his cooks to make another sheet of just just cheese and pepperoni that I just took off my brothers order. Elle, Shawn, Maggie and Christian were the most pleasant wonderful thorough servers ever! I LOVETHISPLACE

What a hit! This place isn’t called Crust for nothing. The Crust here is the best I’ve had on the west coast. They truly put care and diligence into their number 1 hit, their pizza. Go for it and make your own because every topping they have is fresh and full of flavor. Another must have is their Meatballs and Pesto! True Italian right there! The place is family friendly, but also makes a great spot to bring a group of friends. Let the pizza do the talking and you won’t be disappointed. Fat tip: Get the fried donuts aka zeppolis ;) xoxo

The Friday night foodies wanted something Italian! After a quick check on Unilocal,we decided to head on over to Crust Pizzeria. They have a little bit of everything here. They specialize in NY style pizza but they offer various salads and pasta dishes too. Don’t get me started on their wine list and local craft beers! I’ve been on a crazy pizza kick this week so I decided to check out their happy hour menu. I ordered the house salad and meatball sliders. My friends ordered the fried calamari appetizer, spaghetti and meatballs and the kiddos got the mac and cheese and the pepperoni pizza. The salad was pretty big for a happy hour item and completely satisfying. The sliders were DELICIOUS! You get three– perfect portion! The meatballs come lovingly sandwiched between toasted, buttery, and airy brioche buns. The flavorful and tender meatballs are bathed in marinara then topped with melted cheese and pesto. It doesn’t stop there… then it gets lightly drizzled with a balsamic glaze for a touch of sweetness before being topped with the yummy bun. Our waitress was attentive and she kept my Diet Coke flowing! My friends gave a positive review of the spaghetti and meatballs and calamari. I tried a bite of the mac and cheese. It was creamy and cheesy! They cooked the pasta just right. Most places serve watery and flavorless mac and cheese and it’s mushy as heck. Not here! I got another positive, kid approved review on the pepperoni pizza. «I love it, it tastes so good! Everything is good but the crust has a really good flavor!» That’s a foodie in training I tell ya! Come give this place a try! During dinner time(starting 5pm) this place gets busy FAST! Check out the happy hour menu for dinner that’s easy on the wallet(there’s stuff on there that’s not on the dinner menu)! If you’re further up north, there’s one in Carlsbad too!

Hello Crust Pizzeria, I’m Trish, your new regular. I come with a posse usually or at least a very tall giant sidekick(who agrees on the meatballs) and we’re best friends now. #pizzabesties #thebestkindofbesties Okay, I ate here two days in a row and had the same thing both times. I know, I know, Trish — get it together. But it was so good! So good! The Stephanie Pizza. People! Eat it, and you’ll be like damn, I want that tomorrow too. I give in to those cravings… you should too. The Stephanie is a nice chewy crust, golden brown with olive oil, Soprafina Ricotta cheese, Wisconsin Mozzarella, and goat cheese but then… it gets better: Sliced pears, portabellas, prosciutto, glazed pecans and baby arugula. No joke, I’m addicted. I’ve also had the meatballs that are made with three meats very finely ground in a nice basic marinara sauce. On Wednesdays you can get a bottle of wine for half price and they have a good happy hour and lunch specials too. The real kicker — super close to my house. Like easily there in and parked and sitting in under 10 mins.

My first time being here and I’m super excited! The menu is great simple and very easy to make your way through. My friend and I ordered the Stephanie pizza and I was not disappointed. Great heaping of greens on top of the pizza and well, c’mon.BACON! The pizza got a little overwhelming with saltness at times, but with the next bite, it was fixed. The staff here is great and the parking lot can get a little bit busy at times during the lunch hour. Theres a private small two story parking structure behind the building that is a perfect little home for your car so it’s not sitting in the sun.

An Italian restaurant in a area where there aren’t many around… I came because the Unilocal reviews raved about the pizza and food in general. I found I was underwhelmed by the entire experience. We got there around 8pm on Friday night to find the place still hopping. The Hostess stand seemed to be in flux, as we were greeted once by hostess #1 until hostess #2 interrupted her saying something to the effect of «this isn’t your job, what are you doing?» and took over, greeting us again. Not a big deal, but while hostess #2 checked our our table hostess #1 asked us to «move out of the way». Not a great start to checking out a new restaurant. Luckily our waitress was Elle, and she was very sweet. She helped me through my wine order and let us customize our orders as we wished. She took our order without writing anything down, and got everything right. I was hoping for an interesting dish that stood out from the crowd, but the pastas were very typical Italian fare. We both ended up ordering pizza(our eyes were bigger than our stomachs) and we got two(one large one small) for two people. The small is enough for one, and two smalls or one large can feed two hungry people. We both got pizzas with red sauce, one pepperoni and one«Yoma»(i think) with pepperoni, prosciutto, mushrooms and onions. The pizza was good, but not my cup of tea. It boasts being«NY Style» thin crust, and from the reviews it sounds like it’s pulling off making a lot of people happy. For me the pepperoni had a funny aftertaste. So much so that we took our leftovers out of habit, but tossed them today.(When you’re tossing day old pizza, you know there is something wrong). I probably won’t be back anytime soon. Tip to the restaurant: Try a new menu tactic! Clipboards don’t seem to be working for you. A page of my menu was missing, and my husband had two of another page… Also the paper was pretty gross. Dog owners tip: their patio allows dogs! Parents tip: Kids were all over this place, so don’t feel bad bringing the kiddos here. If you’re trying to avoid kids, steer clear they were racing around the restaurant the entire time we were there.

Went here last night – place was full, really noisy with a soccer team inside, but relatively quiet on the covered patio. Had the Ana pizza and the capellini a la checa(I would actually call it pasta primavera) so so good! Tons of broccoli and cherry tomatoes with a light olive oil caper sauce! Service last night was superb! We were really thirsty, and our server kept our water glasses full! And, as we were leaving, the manager/owner recognized me as I went by and said it was nice to see me again. Considering I’ve been out of town for most of the last two months and haven’t been in, that’s great! So glad Crust opened up!

Came here for lunch and it was great! They have tables inside and outside and several TVs to watch the game. Their menu offers salads, sandwiches, pizza(of course), and pasta and all priced reasonably. They do offer a pizza and drink combo, but it’s bikini season so I had to decline the pizza. I ordered the chopped salad with chicken and dressing on the side. It is a lunch portion size so it was perfect… not too much food. The server was on point and very attentive, but not too much so. He kept our drinks refilled! The parking lot was a bit of a mad house at lunch time since it’s in a shopping center, but they do have a parking structure in back(it’s free) so I parked in there and it was a quick walk over to Crust. I’ll definitely be back.

Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall in Torrey Hills is a darn good pizza joint. On a Friday night, my friend and I got a booth at the bar right away. They have a decent selection of beers and other drinks. There are several tv’s for watching sports as well. We started off with the Torrey Hills salad. It was good sized with spinach, pecans, with a light vinaigrette dressing. I ordered the Kelly pizza which had pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and carmelized onions. My friend had the Jennifer with white sauce, artichoke, red pepper, basil and goat cheese. I liked the Kelly better, but both were very good. The wait was a bit long for the pizza, about 30 min, but since we were watching the basketball games and weren’t in a big hurry, it was ok. I’m sure during a less busy time, it would have been out much faster. Our server was very nice and the manager also came by to ask us how we were doing. I’ll be back.

Walked in and was surprised to see a nice open dining room with ample lighting, bar area, and couple of large screen tv’s on the walls. Came on a non-busy time for dinner(Sunday evening) and so the servers were eager to attend to our table. We had a house wedge salad which comes with bacon bits and blackened chicken adorned in a flavorful and crumbly bleu cheese sauce… also tried a bit of the spaghetti with meat balls which was flavorful and the tomato sauce wasn’t too sharp but a touch of sweetness to it too. The 10″ pepperoni pizza had a nice crust but seemed a tad bit greasy from the large pepperoni slices. In all, it’s a nicely done place and a nice addition to this neighborhood that sorely needs more restaurant options in this area. The info/card on the table said that Happy Hour menu is available all day on Monday’s, otherwise Sunday-Thursday it’s 3pm-6pm with select drinks and food specials. The bar had numerous wine selections as well as about 8 local craft beer tap handles. We also asked if the lunch menu was the same as the dinner menu, and they server pretty much said«yes, but with some lunch specials added». So far so good… and I look forward to making this a regular eat-out option for this area.
