I use to live in PB… and came here all the time. It was always good food with good people and cute boys in just trunks. Can’t complain with an ocean view too. I’m sad to see that it’s closed now! Such a bummer.

i first learned about chicken katsu here. chicken katsu satisfies my cravings for crisp, salt, fried and chicken. heaven. i once watched a girl walk in. i am hetero. the lady that owned the place laughed at me and threw in a spam musubi for free. :D i shall miss thee Da Kine(this location at least).

i’m going to use my same review i wrote of the national city location and add that i prefer this location most of the time because it’s by the beach. however, national city has a nice location as well and i like to eat inside at that one… there’s just no beach. enjoy: if you have the choice between L&L and Da Kine’s… choose Da Kine’s. Get a plate of khalua pig with macaroni salad. I love the vibe and I love how they play Hawaiian music. It feels like I’m back visiting Hawaii again. The food in Hawaii is much better of course, but compared to other places we have here, I would say Da Kine’s is one of the closest you’re going to get on the main land.

I thought these plate lunches were very good, hit the spot! The staff/owner was very friendly and helpful.
