Angry bartenders with mental problems. It’s a shit hole, I guess I’d be mad if I had to work there too.

I do love me a good dive bar and Daves is the perfect spot to grab a drink away from the club atmosphere of the rest of pb. Every time I go in the it’s a good crowd of happy drunks blasting music from the 90s on the juke box or playing pool. The bartenders are always really quick and fun. Overall just a good ol place to hang out and grab a few drinks.

I saw this bar listed for sale so I came to check ot out. Took me less than 5 minutes to see why it’s not selling. I walk in at 2 in the afternoon 1 person other than the bartender there. The bartender had the music so loud I couldn’t think. I had to point to the beer I wanted because she couldn’t hear me and wasn’t bright enough to turn the cheaply rap music that she was playing down. Beer prices are average for the area. Soon after I got my beer, a couple of tweakers came in and low and behold they were the bartenders friends. Slammed my beer and left. They couldn’t give that place away!

Dave’s is as a tiny small spot down the street from my house that boasts only a beer and wine licence, a pool table and tons of regulars(or at least so it seems). Tucked in the same shopping center as a 7 – 11 Dave’s is a local’s spot, not necessarily a destination. Even so, the bartenders are extremely friendly, the prices reasonable and totally walk-able from my house for when I get tired of NiteOwl. Since I don’t have cable, there’s a good chance you’ll see my bike parked outside when I’m here to catch some football.

A great little dive bar like Cheers, where everyone knows your name(Once you have been here a few times). I came in with my boyfriend nearly 2 years ago and it has changed…3 of the regular bartenders no longer work there(Meg, Lisa, and Kendall), but the ones that have stayed(Angie and Linese) and the new ones are great! Inexpensive drinks… I rarely drink so a regular Coke is $ 1 and a bag of trail mix is $ 1…they are Ok if you bring in outside food since they only have chips and trail mix and sometimes beef sticks… MXN is within walking distance and a 7-Eleven is in the same strip mall. If you want to do your laundry at Ms. Bubbles or get your nails done at Pro Nails & Hair Fashions, a pit stop at Dave’s in between errands works! The flooring has recently been updated as well as the bar counter top. The area has a ‘funk’ smell of sewage, but that is throughout the strip mall… I think its the creek a block away… Jukebox music, one pool table, high stool seating only at either the bar or tables, no booths, smoking in the back outside or in the front… I don’t smoke and it still smells if the people are not far enough away from the door. During holidays, the Owners will bring in food… Thanksgiving, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day. They have a Facebook page Dave Tavern Regulars and the bartenders will post specials and what’s going on that day which is helpful. A few regulars that you will most always see when coming in…

Beer only and beards only allowed I think lol. Staff could be better but it is a dive bar. I will return

Atmosphere here is great. Huge assortment of cheap drinks. Good people around. For someone who complain about this place — if you are looking for a fancy place, why do you go in an old school bar? Just do not go there. Everybody else are welcomed by Daves!

Your local neighborhood dive bar. Went here with some friends that we were in town visiting. Bar tender was friendly. Good strong cheap drinks. You have to try the Mexican Candy shot!

Cool little dive bar that we went to with some friends — super cheap and fun. My friend made me try a Mexican Candy shot… it has tabasco on top and wow, it burns going down! But if you like Tabasco, give it a go.

It’s not my idea of how to spend a night out drinking, but I know too many people — including my room mate — that adore this hangout. They offer a limited bar as they don’t have a license to sell drinks beyond beer and«mocktails.» In order words, go elsewhere if you’re planning on throwing back shots of anything 80 proof or more. Tuesdays appear to be a fan favorite as they host a dart tournament, open to anyone with a couple bucks and love for jukebox boogie.

Love this bar. Everyone is like family. Tuesday dart tourney. Thursday cheap pitchers! Hot bar tenders. What more do you need in a neighborhood dive bar?

Relaxed, low-key dive. Service is friendly. Beers are decently priced. I have only been here on weekdays, and it’s usually pretty empty. At any rate, it’s a chill little location to have a couple of beers.

I figure I’d review a place that has a bit of controversy for starters… This place is a great place to get away from the college crowd. It’s a happy medium between a dive bar and an all out sports bar… I don’t do sports myself… But the atmosphere is generally relaxed at this particular spot. If you’re looking to take a drunk college chick home, bring one or go elsewhere. PROS: Cheap Drinks, Micro-brews on Tap, Guinness on tap, and Wine. If you aren’t feeling like snacks, there’s a Santana’s Mexican joint less that 100 ft away, and a 7⁄11 less than 50ft away. Great Bartenders, they run the show, and will not hesitate to tell someone they need to leave when they get out of line… and after just a few visits, they’ll start pouring your normal brew the second you walk in. The Regulars, I’d say 9⁄10 people I see there on a normal basis are absolutely awesome. I’ve never seen a fistfight that wasn’t over before it started because the regulars don’t want to deal with any high school drama. There are normally only people from their mid to late twenties and older there. Entertainment– there is a pool table, a dart board, 4TV’s going, a Jukebox, and an Arcade Game(Big Game Hunter) and board games in this place… They also have free WIFI available to customers, as well as a few open plugs to set up the laptop, or charge the phone. CONS: Parking is hit and miss, they share a parking lot with a dry cleaners, a coin laundry, and a nail place… So on weeknights, parking is somewhat scarce… Heat: When this bar heats up, It’s a furnace… the ceiling fans don’t do much at all on warm nights… Busy Nights: When this place gets crowded, It’s hard to get around, let alone get to the restrooms, outside to smoke, let alone get back inside. No Hard Liquor: I would have to give this place 5 stars if they served liquor… they have some vodkas and serve wine and beer… but I’m a Jameson fan. Overall, this place is exactly what someone who wants to go drink, play a round of pool or throw darts needs… A chill place to relax and enjoy their alcohol.

I want to like this place. I want to like it SOBAD. But. I just can’t. I’ve tried, really I have. It’s my best friend’s favorite neighborhood bar. They have a fun pool table. They have FABULOUS bartenders. They have a super new juke box. They have great drink specials. LOVE these things. However… The bad things knock down the stars from five to one. The clientele here beats my dive-bar heart into the ground. I have been threatened by a woman who frequents the bar, harassed by some guy playing pool that he wanted to fuck me up, and smacked on the back of the head(literally!) by a drunk-ass hooker who will remain nameless. And to top it off, there’s always some douche-bag who insists on playing 45 minutes straight of Slayer. No. Thank. You.

Ok, so this place isn’t the worst??? Its literally the bar across the street from my house. I do not know why I don’t frequent the place more often and get to know the bartenders… maybe because they do not have real liquor. who wants to drink rice vodka??? maybe because its a Boston bar and in case you didn’t notice people… we are in SANDIEGO!!! I know our teams suck, but if your an establishment in the San Diego area… its the considerate thing to do by at least having some home team paraphernalia in your bar. I guess since I’m from San Diego… it bugs me a little that there are so many Boston Fans here and establishments that support the Boston teams… hey… I like Boston… I even like Fenway park… but if Boston is so freaking great… why did you move HERE??? Wow… anyway off subject. Not too many people in the bar when I went… my fake vodka drink was ok for the time being. Only stayed for one then moved on to somewhere more livelier.

«Let’s have Irish car bombs!» «I’m buying you all some border bastards!» «What’s a vodka gummy bear?» This is how our uncoordinated hero and his 2 friends ended up with 2 beers, 2 shots, and 3 gummy bears in front of each of them within three minutes of walking into Dave’s. It was definitely better than it looked from the outside. The drink specials here are great: $ 3 Irish car bombs, $ 3 border bastards, and $ 7 – 9 pitchers on Thursdays. In addition, they have vodka gummy bears available! Those things are like jello shooters(which they also have), but cuter. PROS: — They have a collection of board games you can play there, including my favorite: Scrabble! Drinking + board games = guaranteed good time. — They play all the Pats games on their TVs. This is a New England football fan haven. — Really cheap boilermaker specials. CONS: — They don’t exactly have an ideal location; it’s located in a strip mall next to a 7 – 11. — Very small bar with only one pool table and one bartender working.

Not really my scene. I am an equal opportunity bar goer but didn’t care too much about Dave’s. I wouldn’t call this place a dive bar. It’s divey but not dive. But then again, I am a San Diegan so what the hell do I know about dive bars. What I do like about this place is what Brett B. wrote, you don’t have to worry about frat bastards or the frat boy type(aka douche bags). Not all frat boys are douches so I don’t mean to offend everyone, but a lot are douches and if you are a frat boy douche, then I hope you were — and continue to be — offended.

I won’t lie, I dreaded coming to Dave’s. I thought it was going to be nasty with trashy people. Pleasantly surprised. Cheap drinks, good people and Arrogant Bastard on tap. The bar itself is small, but clean and has a pool table and darts. I accidentally jacked this guy’s seat at the bar, but we became friends. Definitely a neighborhood bar, with cool older folks. I remember noticing the happy hour specials and vowing to come back to enjoy them, but I have no recollection of what they were…
