Love The Fox, this is an Iconic bar, great drinks and specials, food is a BBQ set up outside and is the best. Inside is dated with old pool table, so it’s the best shitty bar in all of San Diego, including North of Del Mar.

The Silver Fox is your typical dive bar, playing hits from the top 40s as old as the leopard carpet that adorns this cozy shack. The bartenders are nice and patrons are friendly. Cheap drinks and specials are going on every day of the week. This is the type of bar that makes you feel at home, where a wonderful camaraderie forms over mutual love of pool and getting drunk on cheap shots.

Definitely a dive bar, I love the tackiness of this place so much. Cheap beer, fun bartenders, pool, games, and that leopard print carpet? Yaaaas. I’ve always had a good time stepping in here, sometimes it gets really crowded but obviously because it’s the place to be right? I much prefer hanging out here than hitting up most other bars on garnet. It’s also a great place to stop on your way back home(if you live close and walking) to just swing in and grab that one last drink. Cheers.

Always our favorite place to come and play Big Buck Hunter and Pool. Lynae pours the drinks up right.

It gets a 5 star review for being the textbook definition of ‘dive bar’! Great drink specials, pool tables that defy all physics laws(how they got three in there I don’t know) as you are playing people somehow are not getting hit with pool sticks. Random music, various people from biker dudes to PB bros to cool bartenders!!! Loved it!

If my life was a sitcom, the silver fox would be my central perk. There is a good selection of music, cheap drinks(I normally come on Thursdays for $ 2 you-call-its). The pool tables are little worn but functional. You meet a very diverse group of people from UCSD med students to the scum and villainy of PB. It kind of reminds me of the cantina in Star Wars episode 4. Its only 4 stars and not 5 because it’s cash only. Wah

This is the epitome of a dive bar. They only take cash, the drinks are cheap, and the pool tables are usually empty, unless u go on a weekend, then it can get packed. It’s our favorite go to place super late night when all the other bars have lines or have closed. I especially love their drink specials, the best in town without a doubt.

Best dive bar in Pacific Beach! Great drink prices and games to play. Some people are sketch but this is the classiest dive of dives.

As a 25 year old female living in San Diego I would rather go to a typical brunch place on a Sunday morning… but I was pleasantly surprised by the Silver Fox. Watching Sunday morning football here was a great experience due to the excellent service. The bartenders here are down-to-earth, friendly and conscientious of their customers needs. I would go here again and recommend it to others! Happy hour from 6AM — 7PM.

Silver Fox is a neat diver bar a bit away from the ruckus of Garnet ave. Theyve got some solid drink specials and some interesting characters. Always a recipe for a good time.

The Silver Fox. The patron profile is usually a mix between locals, frequenters, and … I’m not a frequenter myself, so how do I pick out the frequenters… the coarse woman that dominates the pool table and knows how to get that baby working when the ball retrieval mechanism ‘ain’t working right’… the ‘silver fox’ who meanders his way along the bar, working on the more mature lasses who are willing to give an ear to his stories… etc. Notables: Pool table, darts, TV’s, quick & friendly bartenders, outside patio, easy street parking. One bummer is that they don’t have many brewskies on tap… For a dive bar in PB, it doesn’t wow me… but, for what it is, it’s right about 3.5.

Awful Experience. My boyfriend and I went to the Silver Fox to play some pool on a Monday night. We walked in and showed the security guard, Alex, our driver’s license. He checks mine and then checks my boyfriend’s. He looks at it, uses his flash light and says, «Yeah, this is fake, I can’t accept this.» When it is his real actual license, and he is 23 years old. We asked him what was wrong with it and he said the font was smudged and it was clearly fake. He was saying the font was smudged on the part where it says which city you’re from on the vertical style of a California driver’s license. Which if you look at any vertical style CA driver’s license like that, it is a bolder print over the mini photo in the bottom left corner. After explaining to him that that is how it is on everyone’s license all he had to say in a extremely cocky manner was that he has been doing this for 18 years so he is pretty sure he knows how to do his job. He was so rude and very WRONG about the license. I think he was just discriminating against my boyfriend’s ethnicity. If he did believe it was a «fake» I.D. then he isn’t supposed to return it to the person. He is supposed to call the police to report it, but he didn’t. He was so rude and obviously after 18 years he doesn’t know how to do his job correctly. Thanks a lot Alex, we will never be returning to the Silver Fox again.

Yes, Yes, Yes! One of PB’s most underrated bars. Very divey which is a good change from all the popular spots around Mission/West Garnet. Cheap cash only drinks(atm inside), touchtones music, pool tables, & leopard carpet describe this spot. Definitely hit it up you-call-it Thursdays!

Wow. Go here. You won’t regret it… well you may regret the 4th tequila, but this place is an awesome dive bar. Great find! You-call-it Thursday was a great deal.

There are some that may go so far as to say that the Silver Fox is the Tangier of PB. Two crowds will come through this unique nexus point of free flowing Fireball and neighbor’s basement ambiance. By night are the off-the-grid rascals that poo poo the«glamor» of the general PB bar circuit to roll up their sleeves and hold court at the only pool table that, to my knowledge, sits atop a bed of leopard print carpet in all of PB. They generally have at least one article of leather clothing, are over 50, or have been banished from their fraternity for partying like Ozzy Osbourne in the depths of an ether binge. Avoid sudden movements when negotiating your way about the room with these pillars of the community, but stand your ground. By morning, a special breed swarms the place at 6am sharp. The Daywalkers. They have exhausted the cover of night with hours of incessant binging of manifold substances. At least one person in the group has broken a bottle in the last hour while screaming«great song!!» And tequila is the order of the day as these individuals eliminate natural light from their sensory intake for precious more hours. If you are waiting in line at the Broken Yolk and want to take in an anthropological spectacle before brunch, by all means drop in for a mimosa…

I’ll admit that I’m not the best person to be writing a review for a dive bar as I’m at downtown gal but hey I like a good deal now and then. I came here with a friend last Thursday and they have a good deal on Thursday nights, $ 2 wells and $ 3 premium drinks, you really can’t best that! Yeah it’s definitely divey inside but everyone’s on a budget now and then and likes a stuff drink. For being a dive bar it was a bit nicer than most, especially PB pub which is probably the closest to it. I probably won’t be back but if you’re in the neighborhood, want cheap drinks and are dressed casual then this isn’t a bad spot to go. I’m giving this a 4 star rating for a dive bar, I’m not comparing it to a 5 star downtown bar. I also saw some other Unilocal elite members in there so it must be a popular spot!

Perfectly dark at night and day. Perfectly cash only drinks with varying specials at any given time. Perfectly busy on a week night and not overly busy on weekend days. Perfectly located out of the mess of PB but not so far away you can’t walk it. Perfectly entertaining crowd and spacious bar area. Perfectly dive-y in all the best ways. Hmm, sounds like I ought to make it here more often!

My friends, this is a bar. A true dive and a place that is frozen in time with the focus on drinking, and drinking alone. Proceed with caution. The Silver Fox, a true PB staple. It’s not your typical Pacific Beach bar and what they do here works and has withstood the test of time. Sure, you can come here and try to pick up on ladies, but rest assured that they will be ladies. Not 21 year old girls celebrating their birthday with a tiara in their tangled hair and six-inch heels, so be prepared. If you’re a dude, you’ll pee in a trough, which is any man’s worst nightmare… I don’t care what anyone says. The drinks are cheap, served cold and without attitude or judgement. If you’re lucky you may even find a stray dollar hanging out in Big Buck Hunter, a must for any great dive bar. Grab a stool and enjoy the ride — it’s a good one.

The Silver Fox is a box of fun! They have darts! They have billiards!(yes they call it billiards and not pool) They have sports!(Loads of televisions and they will turn on whatever game your heart desires) They have a jukebox! They have cheap drinks!(We got like 5 drinks for about $ 14) They have tasty drink!(The BF said it was one of the best Tom Collins he ever had and I had a specialty cocktail called The Caveman something that tasted like a tastier version of a Mai Thai) They have GREAT customer service!(Locals and newbies alike received excellent service and Sean the bartender was super friendly and knew how to work the room). Overall GREAT, I mean EXCELLENT bar! They are open late nights and early morning. The place did have a faint pee smell but it added to its divey essence. This is what I look for in a dive bar. What more could you ask for… wait for it… Its also located next door to a nail salon… SCORE. I was able to get my toes polished while my bf waited and got a couple of drinks. It simply perfection.

I’m glad I found this spot! I would come back here when I’m in San Diego again. I was really iffy about coming here at first because it wasn’t bustling with people and it was farther away from the beach than the other bars. Plus, the furniture and décor make the place look really old. Even the crowd is older and generally ranged from a few late 20s to more ~30−40s. But it’s ok — everyone is drunk and happy! This place looks small on the outside, but it gets spacier as you enter down the stairs. There are two restroom stalls for women(closer to the entrance) and separate stalls for men(closer to the arcade games). Parking: I parked at the grocery store parking lot across the street because it was free. The walk is not bad — maybe 5 minutes? Ruben, the bartender, is cool. He’s a little older, but he’s very funny and friendly. Drinks are decently priced here. They have a beer of the month that is only $ 2 if you go during happy hour. Each game of pool is 75 cents(I got change from Ruben). There are 3 pool tables and enough cue sticks for your entire party. The jukebox is the one advanced piece of technology that this old bar has and it is pretty cool. Each $ 1 gets you 2 credits, and most songs are 2 credits — even the new releases. They have songs even way back from the 50s. The dart board allows you to play games and keeps score for you, but you can just use the chalkboard on the back wall.
