Deep Rooted Designs

James and his crew did a fairly large job for us including backyard, front yard and outdoor living space. To be honest, it was a mess before they started and its likely that anyone with a recent copy of Sunset magazine, some wood and some tools could improve our space. But Deep Rooted Designs knocked it out of the park. We came into the process with a budget and a few must-​haves. Of course our budget was quickly exceeded with all the extras we wanted to add, but James worked with us to get us within our budget and give us something we are happy and proud to call our own.
I think if it ended there, Deep Rooted Designs would get a solid 4 star rating, however they earned the 5^th star by being very flexible with our special circumstances. We needed to move our gas meter 10 feet, something we thought would be pretty simple. However, we had a series of unfortunate events brought on by SDG&E «planners» giving us bad information and turning relatively simply thing into a 2 month nightmare. James not only worked out a way to move a wonderful custom shed he built so we could dig out the gas line, but was able to work us back into his schedule without too much hassle.
After the work was done, he’s kept in touch, done some tune up work and has replaced some plants that didn’t do so well. I highly recommend him and Deep Rooted Designs.

James has an amazing vision for your outdoor space. He has created a ‘useful’ gorgeous space out of something very bland. Not only this, but he is really wonderful to work with. The last thing I appreciate is that he is very aware of drought resistant plants that is crucial in Southern California!

Deep rooted designs just recently finished up my front yard remodel. We came to them with an idea of what we wanted and they did the design and built our new front yard /​deck. They were on time and paid very close attention to detail. They were fantastic to work with and I highly recommend them

We used Deep Rooted Designs to improve the drainage and tile an area of patio outside the kitchen area while we were away. The work was started and completed on time and James and his crew left everything lovely for our return.
We liked his work so much that we recommended the company to our son who is now using them to install a patio area at his house.

Working with Deep Rooted was a great experience. We knew we wanted to make our backyard an area for guests and entertainment but didn’t know where to start.
James, the owner came over for a free consultation which we booked right on their website. He recommended a design but we opted to work together without a plan since we had a few concepts to build off of.
Now our backyard has a custom built fire pit on a concrete patio with cobblestones, along with built in concrete bench seating! Not to mention the entire yard is landscaped…
We always knew what was going on and they gave us tons of finishes to choose from which made it really fun. The only hiccup was the El Niño storm that delayed our project a week.
We plan on using Deep Rooted again when we redo our driveway and front yard.

We were looking to re-​do our front and backyard and needed a retaining wall built, stairway and new front entry gate. James and his team were professional from start to finish. They arrived early, each day and cleaned up.
James went above and beyond leaving brochures and stone options for us and picking them up, answering our questions and texts quickly. The entire job took less than 2 weeks.
If you want a contractor that actually shows up and does quality work, hire Deep Rooted Designs. Oh, and if we didn’t have an architect in the family, we would have hired them for design, too.

James consulted with me on a fence for our property and was a huge help in making sure that it was started right, and would stand up to all elements. He is courteous, knowledgable and capable.
