Ordered takeout from across the street at the Hilton. Service was fast, courteous, and food was not greasy spoon as most of the other Denny’s we’re familiar with in the Bay Area!

Called in a bowl of oatmeal over the phone. Waited on hold forever. Picked it up fifteen minutes later, waited in line, waited for them to ready it, and paid 5.07 for a very small bowl of very gelatinous oats. Figured this would be hard to screw up but they managed do do it and charged twice what I expected to pay. Also realized that a four item grand slam breakfast would cost $ 7~ …yet oats cost 5. Come on y’all.

This place is awesome ! Been coming here for years with friends and family and we all love it :) The staff is always friendly and nice and the interior is much cleaner than other Denny’s I’ve been too in the past. A recent visit here a while ago by far hit a home run! It was super packed and there was only TWO servers but those guys managed to handle a full house. We had to wait awhile for our food but they gave us free drinks and a free dessert! It was the best experience we had :)

I’m sure you know this but… and I’m totally sure the manager of this location encourages this type of behavior as well. Unilocal doesn’t allow pictures so pls reply if you care. I’m intrigued and offended. Harold Butler and Richard Jezak opened Danny’s Donuts in Lakewood, CA in 1953.[2] In 1955, after Jezak’s departure from the then-6-store chain, Butler created and changed the concept a year later in 1956, shifting it from a donut shop to a coffee shop with store #8. Danny’s Donuts was renamed Danny’s Coffee Shops and changed its operation to 24 hours.[2] In 1959, to avoid confusion with Los Angeles restaurant chain Coffee Dan’s, Butler changed the name from Danny’s Coffee Shops to Denny’s Coffee Shops. Two years later, in 1961, Denny’s Coffee Shops was simply renamed Denny’s.[2] The business continued to expand, and by 1981, there were over 1,000 restaurants in all 50 U.S. states. The company absorbed many of the old Sambo’s restaurants, and used their mid-century design in all their future restaurants. In 1977, Denny’s introduced the still-popular Grand Slam breakfast. In 1994, Denny’s became the largest corporate sponsor of Save the Children, a national charity. All but six Denny’s closed for the first time ever on Christmas 1988; many of the restaurants were built without locks, and some had reportedly lost their keys.[3] Denny’s main office was located in La Mirada, California, until 1991. At that time, the office was moved to the Spartanburg, South Carolina, headquarters of the parent company Trans World Corporation(TW Corporation) that acquired Denny’s in 1987. In 1992, private equity firm, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts acquired a 47% interest in TW Corporation, later known as The Flagstar Companies, and encouraged the company to sell non-core businesses.[4] Eventually, Denny’s operations dominated the parent company to such an extent that The Flagstar Companies changed its name again to Denny’s Corporation. It now trades on the NASDAQ under the symbol DENN. For much of its history, Denny’s offered a free meal to anyone on his/her birthday. The offer included a limited number of meal options from a special birthday menu. The promotional ritual ceased in 1993; though occasionally individual franchises will continue the tradition. Since 2009 its restaurants offer a free Build-Your-Own Grand Slam on the customer’s birthday. In 1994, Denny’s began renovating its stores, with a lighter color scheme; select locations also began serving Baskin-Robbins ice cream for a short time. Houston, Texas was the test market for the chain-wide renovation.[5]

Had a kind server. She was quiet though, and brief. Her topic was what’s for dinner and made very little eye contact. The cook messed my quesadilla up by not putting avocado or some extra veggies which I requested, but it was tasty. Nothing out of the ordinary for a normal Denny’s experience.

Great service and decent food. Our server was very attentive and funny. Good convenient breakfast spot with better than average staff compared to most Denny’s.

Maria S. Was our server this morning, and she was very sweet and very attentive. And even though we were in full Dodger attire, for opening day, she still took extremely good care of us, lol. Gracias Maria

Horrible service, server Maria S was irritable snot is ordering and would get upset if we asked for anything! We’re not picky people, and I’ve never experienced a server getting upset about ordering or asking for water or coffee! Won’t come back!

the type of customer service that I’m used to, is usually one of authentic kindness and sincerity. Unfortunately, for this specific establishment, my family and I were met with a berating disservice, poor attitude and not an inkling of attentiveness. We were a secondary concern. Our order was constantly being messed up. Although my brother and father and I still were able to have a good time on our own, being together, the servers did not make this experience a satisfying one.

At Denny’s you don’t expect much, hopefully your food will come out hot. This was an excellent location. Everything inside was updated and seemed brand new. The staff was spectacularly friendly and welcoming. Everyone said hello and thanked us on our way out. Our waitress was incredibly kind, open, and amiable. We got our food quickly, it was greatly prepared, and delicious. We were in and out in a great manner of time at 7 in the morning on a Sunday. This was a good breakfast stop for our vacation. Thanks!

Denny’s always has the best breakfasts. Anywhere we go we always look for the nearest Denny’s for breakfast. This one was right down the road from our motel so it was perfect.

I stopped in on a weekday for a quick lunch to go. I haven’t been to this location in ages, I liked the remodeling they’ve done. The staff was warm and fuzzy, several regulars came in while I waited. I ordered the baja quesadilla burger, no pico. The guy that took my order even repeated it to me when he handed me my order. I get back to work and wouldn’t you know it ~ pico de gallo on the burger. It’s a good thing I don’t have an allergy, I just don’t like tomatoes. Didn’t have time to go back so I picked all of the pico off my burger. What a let down after such great customer service.

Never get Lorena!!! She doesn’t attend to you, she only pays attention to men. We waited for at least 15 mins for her to greet us. We got our appetizer AFTER our food and then got our drinks. I know it’s just Denny’s, but I guarantee I will never be back to this location.

Sunday 11:30AM. A short 5 minute wait, as expected since parking lot was full. Perhaps due to Charger home game as many patrons were in either wearing Charger or Chief jerseys. It’s been awhile since our last visit at this location because of the remodeling effort the last few months. But I’m quite impressed with the new interior design. There is now a dining area that is separated from the general dining(perhsps for conference meetings and overflow). The service from James was excellent, he was friendly, talkative and appeared to be enjoying the morning rush. The loaded veggie omelette and the fresh Denny’s coffee arrived hot with specially made coffee mate by our server. Very satisfied with the attentive service, breakfast, and bottomless«bold» coffee.

The food is always another the same at Denny’s so you know what you are going to get on arrival We found service a bit slow but staff appeared to be a bit thin also. Server was friendly and there was a good selection of choices of dishes

Came in for breakfast yesterday. It happened to be my birthday. I got a free grand slam, which is 4 of anything they listed under ‘grand slam’. I got the bacon, sausage, hash brown, and oatmeal. For extra, you can get the premium selections such as egg whites and etc. Since it was my birthday, it was free. All I had to do was show them my ID to prove it, and they marked it off my bill when I went to the register to pay. Service was great. The young host was very courteous. Parking lot was a little tricky in the sense that it’s almost up a hill, and exiting requires waiting at a signal light. If there’s anything significantly bad about this place, I must be oblivious to it because I felt great there.

Service is whatever took a while for us to be able to order our food. They need more servers. I’ve been to better Denny’s before. Place was packed and busy.

So it’s not surprising that every Denny’s that you go to will have the average of 3 stars. Denny’s is mainly a place to go when you are feeling broke, don’t feel like waiting for a table for a big group of friends or in the middle of the night when nothing else is open. I’ve been coming to this Denny’s since 2010. Am I a regular? Sort of. I’ve been to this specific Denny’s more than others but I don’t come a few times a week like most regulars would. Maybe 1 – 2 times a month or every other month. All and all I thought I would finally make a review on this Denny’s since it’s by far my favorite. Within the last year or so they remodeled the inside. It’s a lot nicer than it used to be. Also they started selling beer and wine, and they had my favorite beer, Blue Moon. I came in last night to catch up with one of my best friends. When we got there the host was busy doing something underneath the table. She said she would be with us in a minute without looking up at us. Soon after I asked if we could pick a certain area to sit. She looked a little irritated and responded, «Well.how about you lead the way and I will follow you?» After we were seated I explained the reason I wanted to sit in a certain area was because I had seen someone I knew who I wasn’t on speaking terms with and didn’t want to be seated near them. She smiles and says, «Ooooh, now I understand! Yeah totally!» And said she would get our waitress. I’m glad she ended up being nicer after explaining why I wanted to chose my seating but I shouldn’t have had to give her a reason to be nice to me in the first place. Side Note: Denny’s has a reputation of hiring bad waiters and waitresses. They are more than half the time retired people who need a part time job because retirement doesn’t pay well enough, single parents, or young people looking for a part time job in order to pay for school. And there is nothing wrong with hiring these types of people but they ALWAYS hire the worst ones. Ones that are bitter, rude and don’t care a lot about their job. I sometimes think about how much Denny’s pays them or how they treat their employees and wonder if those reasons maybe the cause of the lack of service. Or maybe they get paid and treated just fine but don’t push customer service as much as other restaurants or diners would. «Just remember what they ordered and get the food on their table! That’s all you need to know!» Back to my experience. After the host left shortly came over our waitress. Her name is Beatriz P. My friend wasn’t hungry but I ordered a Blue Moon and a build your own sampler with Tenders, Onion Rings and Cheese Quesadilla. She asked me if I wanted my drink now or with my meal. I said I would like it before and when I started to pull my ID out she said, «Don’t worry about it .» And went to fetch my drink. Now my mind always comes up with ideas to why people do what they do. My first thought was the waitress had been drinking since an early age, around 15 – 16 and she didn’t care how old you were as long as you weren’t 10 years old, she is going to let you drink alcohol. My second thought was she thought, «This girl doesn’t look young enough to be 20.» Which now makes me think I may start finally looking my age. When she delivered my food she didn’t ask if I need anything else. This is the first place I’ve ever been where they didn’t ask if I needed anything else when my good was delivered which I thought was odd. She dropped my food without a word and walked away. I needed some bbq sauce so I asked another waitress near by for it. She was exceedingly nice. I felt so bad that I didn’t catch her name! If you were working from 11pm Tuesday night to 2am Wednesday morning and were working along side with Beatriz, THANKYOU! My food was decently good. Onion rings were the best on my plate. I never expect anything to amazing at Denny’s but I feel like the cooks at this particular Denny’s are better than others. While we were eating a tall older gentleman wearing a maroon button up shirt went up to every table and asked if everything was going alright including a genuine smile. I’m assuming he was a manger and I always appreciate management coming around tables making sure everything is okay. Beatriz asked if I wanted dessert which I had agreed to and ordered a banana split. She did not add strawberry sauce or glazed strawberries like they normally do and instead of sectioning off the toppings she kind of just pilled them all together. It still tasted good but I LOVE strawberry sauce. When we finally left Beatriz took my money but didn’t say«Thank you, have a nice night.» She just took my money and left. While walking out though the manager with the maroon button down shirt thanked us for coming in. Overall this is the best Denny’s so far in SD that I’ve been to but there definitely needs to be more improvement on customer service. Hopefully Denny’s will soon come to realize this.
