Came here to grab a couple quick tacos. Got some fish and carne asada. Taste was just ok, kind of greasy. With so many taco shops around it is hard to give this place more than 3 stars.

Food was ok before I found a roach In the bathroom… The kitchen looks nasty I would never go back. If you want good tacos in San ysidro go to Taqueria Revolucion it looks clean the tacos are they only have carne Asada, adobada and Birria, or Tacos el Poblano on East H st.

Don’t waste your appetite or money here. We always go to Robertacos BUT we wanted to try something new and it was the most horrible food I’ve ever had from a taco shop the fries were greasy and soggy. The torta had a bunch of nerve left in it, and had absolutely no type of flavor. Never going back again.

The carnesada fries are very nasty. The fries dont taste like they haven’t been cooked all the way. I payed $ 7.57 for them and regret it. I should’ve went to Robertos across the way.

Good food, good price, and good costumer service. The food is tasty like Tijuana food. I totally recommend this place, also is clean and you can see the guy cooking your food. I got fish and carne asada tacos, excellent flavor! The chipothe shrimp burrito is also good. Good job guys, know I now where I can eat before take the road ;)

This is Mexican food at it’s best. This is no «fast food place» this is good food cooked fresh and fast! The taste is like very good home cooked food. The place is small yet it has survived with a big drive through taco shop across the park in lot. I know why: excellent food, excellent friendly service, food done fast at a reasonable price, with fresh-home made salsas. I am eating there often. Taco Tuesday: 50 Cent authentic fish tacos, all day and no skimpingk, is unheard of. I don’t give 5’s yet this is as close as I’ve come= 4.99

I ordered the California burrito and it was very good. Although it wasn’t the largest burrito I’ve ever eaten, what it lacked in portion, it more than made up in taste. The rice and beans were also very good. Only thing that kinda sucked was their condiment area was empty. *** I give this place a score of 4 spicy Jalapenos out of 5***

It was the worst Mexican food I’ve ever ate. The meat tasted rotten and was extremely chewy. I will never eat here again

I had a really bad experience with carne asafa fries, They have a new menu and you get a free smoothie if you take the coupon so I decided to give them a second chance… Well bad idea. The tostilocos were awful. They barely had any chile and chamoy they were dry, the cueritos were very bad quality, I had to throw them away, as for the free smoothie it was really bad. I think they use flavored syrup instead of real food. Never going back there.

This food is so good! I come here after school and get different meals and all of them I love! There’s no regrets. There just all delicious! Cheap and good food. You have to love.

I’ve been here several times and I’ve had great tasting food every time. My favorite menu item is the Tacos. The Carne Asada is grilled on mesquite wood giving the meat a delicious smokey flavor. Also the tortillas are hand made to order. What’s incredible is that the tacos are only 99¢ each. These are the best tacos I’ve eaten in San Diego.

This place is a few blocks from the border and the food, while somewhat Americanized is still pretty authentic without having to travel across the border and deal with the hassle of carrying a passport. I’m kind of a creature of habit and when it comes to Mexican food my normal meal is usually something with carne asada. I’m not going to claim that El Jalapeño had the best carne asada, however it is up there with the best of them. The meat was tender, flavorful and not full of fat as you get at some places. The food portions are generous, the prices are reasonable and the service was friendly. No, it won’t be on Zagats list of «must dine» but for a quick in and out place, I will definitely be back.

Food is ok, service is ok. Prices are great, though; one dollar tacos(of any kind) really can’t be beat.

Second time I’ve been there same result. Food is ok, the service though is horrible. I waited over 30 minutes for a California burrito and some rolled tacos. Roberto’s across the way from this place will have you in and out in less than 10. I would also like to note that the woman at the register, I believe she is the owners mother, has an attitude that tells the customer that she’s doing you a favor by taking your business. On my second visit I went up to ask when my order would be ready after waiting over half hour. They couldn’t find my order and when they finally did, instead of an apology I was told I could keep waiting or get a refund. I will not be returning to this place nor would I recommend to anyone. Give your hard earned money to small business owners who appreciate your business.

I have gone to many mexican food places, once I found this place… I will make the special 25 minutes drive down to the border to eat some quality food. I’m not sure if its the seasoning they use or what, but it is very very goooood!!!

3 words… BOMBASSFOOD! The place first was called El Mana and it was eh, then i guess they changed owner probably and now its el jalapeño. Whatever the case im glad its their. The food is delicious!!! This place can honestly branch out and become a chain of mexican fast food/taco shops. The owner is really cool and nice and the servings have just gotten better. I would usually always order pollo or carne asada fries and i would finish em. Now they started packing em and they are huge! I have found my new favorite place. Many people have different opinions on where the best carne asada, pollo asado, or adobada fries are in SD, and well they arent in SD at all, theyre in my lovely lovely town on San Ysidro in SD County. I have tried so many taco shops to many to count and so far the fries here have beat em all. Honestly guys and gals you gotta come try em here. You get a great amount and theyre really good. All for only $ 6.80 Also they got a new chipotle shrimp burrito that is bomb aswell and they even have taquero service for parties. Catering for those who dont know tacos tijuana style. Arriba El Jalapeño! Se la rifa!!! xD
