This place really needs to work on cleanliness. The salsa bar and the floors and the tables and the garbage can area need more attention. The food is good, I like the tostada salad. It would be better if the chicken were hot, but the rice and beans on the bottom are hot.

i specifically asked for water, no i don’t want the combo. you hand me the water cup, and then you proceeded to charge me for the combo. way to pay attention. you bagged up my salad to go, and didn’t bother to make sure the lid was on. luckily i was watching you and i was able to fix it before i walked out losing my entire salad in the bag. way to pay attention and have pride in your work. you gave me a knife and a spoon. no fork. way to be totally inept at your super simple task. way to… remind me never to go back to this location

Sat at the drive thru waiting for someone to acknowledge us and even though two employees saw me and started talking to someone inside, no one ever asked to take our order. What did they do instead? Turn the damn lights to the menu board off! If you aren’t open just say«sorry we’re not open» don’t just turn everything off and hide! fuck you.

FOODPOISONING! Bought the Mexican Cobb Salad through drive-through, the only meal I ate by myself that day and none of my family or friends got sick — so it was definitely the meal I had at this El Pollo Loco. I reported my experience to the Health Department… but you all should beware! It might save you 24 hours of vomiting and kidney pains. The food seemed okay at the time, but thinking back… there were a few pieces of chicken that were drier than the others and the avocado was super soft — older food might have gotten mixed in my salad in the chaos of the kitchen I saw through the drive-through window.

1st time at this establishment. Purchase: 8 piece chicken w/4 sides(to go) on 28 July 2014. Received: 8 piece chicken jurkey w/2 side. –Burnt, petrified, dry, chicken… –Skin was good… only imagine how good it would have been if it was not cooked in a crematory for 12 hours. –Sad part is, I told them this was my 1st time here and asked for their suggestions. In return they off loaded their old chicken and stiffed my order. Will not be back.

Entrance door is broken. Customer let me in because door stays locked. Upon entering, noticed the restaurant to be dirty and having a bad odor. Ordered a bacon avocado salad and was told that they do not have any rice and blamed it on a big family just had a big order. Told them they should keep the door locked. Horrible location at 7:30pm on a Tuesday night.

This morning, I received an email from El Pollo Loco for a free two piece meal. I took advantage of it for dinner tonight. Right down the street from where I live in is an El Pollo Loco, so that’s where I went. I handed the cashier my coupon, and had my order within five minutes. That was fast, and I’ll return again.

Found a hair in my salad. If not for the hair I would have given 5 stars. The store is pretty clean, the food is always hot and fresh, salsa is awesome, sodas are carbonated, and it is price friendly. Subtracted 2 stars for the hair. Ive spent my life as an El Pollo Loco lover routinely sitcking to the same menu item(two piece chicken dark meat, corn tortillas and churros). Today at the recommendation of a coworker I branched out and tried the Avocado Bacon Tostada Salad… and much to my dismay I returned to work only to get a few bites in and find a hair. At first I believed(or rather hoped) it might be a stray sliver of onion or some lettuce but as I pulled it up it was indeed .a hair. I have a sharp eye for spotting«extras» in my food. I called up the store right away and there was no problem with getting put on the list for a new order but now I sit hungry at work because the sight of hair in my food just makes my stomach queasy… maybe it is because I know there is a veterinarians office right next door as well… regardless some people are ok with it… but not me though I do understand that it is just the nature of eating out sometimes. I uploaded a picture of the hair on the lettuce. .

Man, I forgot how good this place is… Chicken with a Mexican twist! Fresh grilled chicken, fresh made tortillas and fresh Salsa. The restaurant it’s self is your typical fast food joint, it’s the food and staff that set it apart from the rest. Great for a quick lunch.

I can’t believe after over 11 years, the chicken still tastes amazing! Growing up, El Pollo Loco was the spot to have our Sunday dinner with the family. The menu has expanded and I can’t wait to try each one. I love the simplicity of the menu items and the full flavor it has. Quick and friendly service and the restaurant is always empty so take a moment and come in and relax. The Horchata is to die for as well as the flan. The chicken is just amazing. The salsa bar can’t get any fresher than what they have to offer. When I’m in the SD area, I always stop by El Pollo Loco at least 3 times a week. =)

I went to this El Pollo Loco Drive though to get the family meal deal they are pushing on TV. They kept asking some questions if I wanted add some items such as Churros etc even though it was already included in the meal. When I pointed it out she said Oh Yeah sorry about that. After I paid I had to wait pull up and wait in their parking lot for my food. When I got home I realized that they forgot to put tortillas in my bag, chicken was burnt. I will not go back to this one again.

Fresh chicken right off the grill, same taste from my childhood! This is my ultimate comfort food. They have tried to get fancy with desserts, burritos, spicy glaze, fake horchata machine. Don’t buy into the hype, just enjoy that crispy salty skin and flavorful meat. Salsa bar was nicely stocked. And stay far away from that damnfakehorchata machine!

Since there no El Pollo locos close to Hillcrest I have to go to this location its not in the best location but the outside/inside of the building look great. The chicken is fresh and everything taste great the quality of the chicken and the amount of chicken they give you is great. I love the salsa bar because they actually have a salsa that is HOT. I hate when you to other restaurant’s and their hot salsa taste like pico de gallo such a let down. Also they have a horchata fountain but what comes out of it is just straight water so don’t be fooled.

Food is quality and fresh. It’s all cooked right back there in the back within view. The chicken is nice and lean high quality meat. Pretty good prices. Fairly clean inside all things considered. Service was nice and friendly.

You can’t go wrong with fire-roasted chicken straight from the grill =) One of my favorite ‘cheap eat’ spots when trying to fulfill that chicken fix. There were quite a few quick eats within the area(McDonald’s, Burger King, and Del Taco) but I wasn’t feeling the other fast food joints. Although drive through service was an option, I decided sit down and to take this experience inside. The restaurant/staff: Very courteous & gracious for my business. The area was clean and well kept. Also, I noticed staff members promptly cleared trays when guests wouldn’t buss their own tables. As an appetizer, I wanted to try a(2) crunchy tacos. For my entrée, I ordered a 2-pc leg & thigh comb with a side of Spanish rice, corn, and flour tortilla. While they were preparing my meal, I walked over to the salsa cart. They had quite a selection of condiments to choose from. Fearing that it had been sitting there all morning, I was pleasantly surprised when the rotated the cart with freshly made salsa. Food: Crunchy chicken tacos were a little dry(probably white meat) but very flavorful. My 2-pc chicken was fall off the bone good. The roasted salsa flavor blended perfectly with the Spanish rice & flour tortilla. Thank you, El Pollo Loco… You’ve got a fan. I’ll be back =)

Theres barely any El Pollo Locos near my house so I traverse the southland to get to this one and the one on highland ave. The parking here is lame, with barely any room to maneuver into or out of a spot. grilled, citrus marinated chicken, pico, spanish rice, flour tortillas. who could turn that down? cept my vegan homie, heather. their service is pretty fast and the food is almost always steaming hot. fyi, they do make the french fries to order so that might take a moment. their churros are pretty good too. when they had free chicken, this place wasnt packed at all. im guessing most people dont know this corner of fastfood heaven exists, or people just rather not go down that road. either way, if youre into good grilled chicken, not like that KGC stuff. this is your home. if theres anything better id like to know(el pollo grill) doesnt count.
