They followed up & offered us a certificate for a return visit so I’m upgrading their star rating to reflect the awesome manager

I’ve been here twice now for breakfast. I really want to like since I can walk across the street. The first time the service was horrible. We waited for a long time for everything. Both times the food was average at best. I’m going to give it one more try…

There is a lot of temporary construction but the service is on point. My friend and I went for a few drinks on a Sunday night. The service was great-Kenny at the bar was very friendly and courteous! We had a great time and it was a great closing to our mini vacation.

Location, location location! Fantastic! Situated right on Harbor Dr and an outdoor patio to watch the sunset. This is a great place to start out a walk on the wharf to see the Maritime Museum, The USS Midway, or walk all the way over to Seaport Village. Sit outside under one of the space heaters and order some serious food. If you think you’re gonna cut some calories, good luck with that inner restraint: the menu is just full of comfort dishes like the Yorkshire pudding or the Fish/Chips. I had the Citrus Chicken Salad and it was«light» but it was huge! Our party told the server we needed to eat and leave soon and he was on it… got our food and check very quickly, and the food was excellent. Highly recommend this place: park along the wharf and enjoy San Diego’s waterfront.

Tried the«buttered chicken» was told it had curry tasted like chicken in tomatoe sauce. It was horrible nothing like how it’s described in the menu!!! Management just said«there is nothing he can do about it it’s corporate who controls the recipe. Really? Why is there a manager if he can’t make mgmt decisions. HORRABLE would never eat here again. And I’m here at least once a month in the area. Service was poor. Don’t recommend it at all !

No stars… the food is AWFUL and the prices are RIDICULOUS for the quality. Everything we ate tasted like it came from a frozen bag… from the potatoes to the«scrambled» eggs… which were NOT scrambled… all yellow yolks flattened out that looked and tasted like their from a carton… so nasty. And to top it off they offer you orange juice in glasses which are placed on your table and act surprised when you say«no» in a way that lead us to think the orange juice is included in our meal which it’s not…4 $ a glass. Don’t be fooled. The hotel where the restaurant is at is great… but they should really think about hosting a different restaurant inside of their business. 60 $ for breakfast… and we were still hungry and very very dissatisfied. Would have been better off eating at subway or somewhere that takes pride in their food.

located inside the hotel. pretty good food. had a dinner party here with a preset menu that they designed for us. food came out quick enough for a huge party. got us in the corner away from the rest of the restaurant which was nice cause we had kids running around. the burger was not bad. came with a lot of fries. reasonable prices. the bar is pretty good with a pool table and darts. only bad thing is it closes so early so after this place closes you gotta go to waterfront bar or somewhere else close by. if you stay at the hotel you already get parking in the back. otherwise dunno where you would park. nice location for this place as the water is right on the other side to walk around.

The other half and I stumbled upon this place while on vacation in San Diego. It was a great place to grab a bite and see the fireworks on the bay. In fact, I’d say if you ever want to see the fireworks on the 4th and don’t want to be crammed in with the masses, Elephant & Castle’s outdoor seating provides you with a good view(not to mention some tasty eats and drinks).

A large group of us went there last night, and although I can’t speak for every one of us, I can speak for the five or six of us at our end the table. The service was lousy. Our waiter was bland, boring and downright rude. My food was tasty, but for some reason it doesn’t taste quite as delicious when your waiter serves you with an attitude. The bartenders lacked enthusiasm and weren’t very pleasant at all. Talk about a buzz kill… oh, yeah, there was no buzz. Our drinks were overpriced«mocktails.» And adding injury to insult was having to pay 28 bucks for parking at a place that I’ll never return to… ever. The most pleasant employee of the night wasn’t really even a E&C employee. Orlando the valet(Ace Parking) was the sweetest, friendliest person we encountered last night.

I went to this restaurant and the dishes were filthy. The worst dish was my Coffee cup. I went to take a sip and there was a huge lipstick stain on the brim. I talked with the assistant manager Christopher he offered me a new cup. When the server brought the new cup this one had a piece of debris on it. I chipped off the debris from the cup and went to talk further with Christopher, at this point I was uncomfortable and upset. Christopher proceeded to serve me coffee in a paper cup. How horrible that they couldn’t find a clean coffee cup. I was still charged for my paper cup of coffee, which was sub-par anyways. ***After leaving this review I had the pleasure of hearing from one of the resturant’s managers. I am glad that they care enought to reach out to me. I look forward to giving elephant and castle another chance.

This place had one of thee best club sandwiches I’ve ever had! We sat outside on their patio to enjoy the warm San Diego evening and our server was friendly and attentive, our beers were cold, and the food was really good. Clean bathrooms and although its a tad pricy, its pretty much the norm and you pay for the proximity to Harbor Blvd and a gorgeous sunset!

After a day doing the Maritime Museum and all the ships, including a Seal ride, we needed fish and chips and this seemed like the right place. Their dish comes either with halibut or cod fried in a tasty and not greasy batter with large fries and a small serving of mustardy tartar sauce. No bread comes with it but there’s malted vinegar and salt so you can do the Brit thing as it’s served in a paper that’s printed with newspaper-like design. This is not a large serving of food as the two pieces of fish are not big, but there’s plenty of fries. Also had a well-made martini and found the bathrooms spacious and not smelly. Eating on the patio area also made for a great experience as we watched the sun set behind the ships and saw the cruise ship pull out while we ate. And service was friendly and fast!

Elephant & Castle is one of those places that I’ve noticed oodles of times along my running route, but never really found the opportune time to pop in. About a month or so ago, my sister decided to pay me an impromptu visit and we both decided to venture out for an afternoon drink. Elephant & Castle came to mind and, so, off we went. The restaurant is located at the corner of Harbor and Ash. The outdoor patio is absolutely lovely, providing a stunning view of the Embarcadero and bay. Moreover, the opportunity for great people watching abounds since Elephant & Castle sits in a virtual tourist stomping ground. We both had a cocktail… or two. My margarita was rather mediocre, sadly, plagued by too much ice that functioned to dilute the alcohol down to nothing more than a glass of cold water with a hint of sweet and sour. Yuck. My sister’s rum and coke was more on point, however. Happy hour during the week is from 4pm-7pm. Unfortunately for us, we visited on a Saturday when it’s not offered. As such, I thought our drinks were a bit on the expensive side, but that’s not entirely surprising considering the location. I don’t know if I’ll be necessarily returning. There are just too many bars in Little Italy that offer so much more in terms of value, albeit sans the pretty views.

This is a good hangout spot when you need to kill some time… ie getting ready to go to the airport or going to a real hang out spot later in the evening. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy a nice frosty British brew without too many tourists getting up all in your face kind of a deal. So if you want a nice quiet evening, this place will suit your needs. It’s located adjacent to the Holiday Inn. You will still need to walk a bit if you still want to go to the Gaslamp area later on, but if you’re that type who just wants some beer regardless of location, then this place is ok. They have some good bar food too. Plenty of tv’s everywhere. Nice dark wood panels gives you this sense of Old English type of atmosphere. Or was it the 3 or 4 Guiness’ I had that made me think that. Oh well. Still a good hang out spot. Just find some free street parking if you can.

My son and I were on the waterfront for the day for a last hurrah before he returns to school, and being 13, he wanted a burger over the ubiquitous seafood fare offered by all the other nearby restaurants. This was a convenient hop-across-the-street from the San Diego Maritime Museum, so we decided to roll the dice. This place tries very hard to imitate a British pub, and as near as I can tell, they do a pretty good job, never having been in a real one myself. It’s nicely decorated and well-kept. The whole dark bar atmosphere probably lends itself a little better to an evening meet-up with a first time date than lunch with your teenager, but that’s not a criticism, and besides, they offer seating on a very nice patio that looks out over the waterfront. I’ll mention, but not subtract points for the too-loud 80’s music that struck me as a bad fit for this place. Come on, guys, the Brits have given us some good music over the years. We were seated and attended to promptly. The service was courteous and professional, but not warm and friendly. Not a big deal to me, but but if you like your help smiling and gracious, you’d notice its absence. No complaints about how they did their job, though. The had a lot of «English» selections on the menu, as one would expect, as well as some other choices. My son had the burger platter, and being something of a connoisseur, pronounced it delicious. I had the salmon sandwich, and while I wouldn’t call it inspiring, it was well-prepared and enjoyable. The tab was $ 30 for the meals and 2 sodas, so not cheap, but hey, it’s a sit-down restaurant on the San Diego waterfront. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but under the right circumstances, I’d probably hit it again if I was in the area, especially if I was out with the drinking crowd. I wouldn’t mind trying some of their beers.

This is a great place for drinks, bar food, pool, darts, video golf, tv sports & related frivolity. They also have an ATM inside. Short on staff, thus slow service. However, service is friendly. There only appears to be one lady for the entire floor and one bartender. Seems odd for a summer Saturday night in San Diego; especially considering it’s almost a full house. I ordered the charbroiled salmon salad($ 14.50). It’s not on the menu but was recommended by the waitress. Though freshly grilled(and still warm), the salmon was bland though it LOOKED like it’d be flavorful(lots of visible spices & grill marks). There was a hint of cayenne at the tail end. Truthfully, this is a Caesar salad with a filet of salmon atop. Half-cooked flatbread accompanied the meal, and would have been better if both sides were toasted and warm. Overall, I had a good bar experience. It’s not the place to come for fine cuisine but it’s more than adequate as a traditional style bar. It is nicely appointed, with the traditional Cherry wood paneling, tin ceiling, domineering bar, classic deor(old novels & such) and heavily ornate carpeting.

We parked across from the Maritime Museum for Comic Con and when we came back to the car to unload scads of exclusive swag and loot(it was getting really heavy) into our car we stopped here for lunch and to rest. It is located on the ground level of the Embassy Suites Hotel — and has a great patio area with a shady area and some tables with more sun — they all have a view of the ocean and the ships. I had a club sandwich — it was HUGE and the fries were good — my Strawberry Margarita was sweet(which is the way I like it) but my friends said their«1800 on the rocks» versions were too weak and kinda tasted too much like mix. My friends had the steak salad which looked good if a little too rare in spots and my other friend had the chicken fingers. which were good and sweet potato fries(YUM). It was very relaxing before the bus ride back to the convention center. OH! but if you stop by for a really late night drink, they close at midnight FYI
