Delicious authentic Filipino food, reminds me of how my dad makes it. Very friendly service with a smile. Sisig was not as crispy as I thought it was going to be but still very flavorful. Although I did not have the chance to try the Ube cheesecake which I came for, overall yummy. Plus military discount was amazing

Unfortunately this place will be shutting its doors shortly. It’s a great place to eat and have a safe space to talk among the Filipino community. All times that I’ve been hear have been for activism or community development events. Lily cares deeply for the community and welcomes you as family. Traditional Filipino food: adobo(chicken or pork), pancit, menudo, sinigang, veggie egg rolls, lumpia, turon, etc. Everything is made that day. Large dining area to accommodate 30+. Parking can be tight(only downside). Front door is normally kept open to take advantage of the cool ocean breeze. Sad to see a «Ma & Pa» unable to keep afloat. Please people, continue to support smaller business owners. Remember: Food adventures are out there. So eat ‘em up!

Shocked by how delishes the food was. The proportion was beyond the price. Even the drinks they have were great.

Really not a fan. The main meal was greasy, overcooked, and left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the day. It was very disappointing food. I thought I would be able to try the plantains but they were cold, greasy, and overcooked before they had been allowed to go cool. Overall, not a fan and never coming back!

I found this place by accident. I was in the area meeting a friend and we ate at McDonalds. I happened to pull up my Unilocal app to see what else was in the area. And low and behold, there was Filipino food nearby! When I left McDonald’s, I pretty much drove across the street to find out where the Filipino food was. They were open on a Sunday– YES they are open 7 days per week. I love Filipino food. My sister in law makes some of the best Filipino food. And since we now live in different states, I cannot get her home cooking. This helped feed the need. I ordered a huge take out container of pancit and some lumpia. The pricing was fair and the portion for the pancit was sizable. It was tasty so was the lumpia. Still not my sister in laws cooking. I was also able to grab some Ube flavored baked goodies. The restaurant is not glamorous and not shabby. It is a comfortable place with low key décor and friendly service.

My experience at this restaurant fit very well one of the themes in these reviews. The customer service was excellent. Other qualities of this location really depend on what you’re looking for. Filipino Food & Bakery is a cafeteria styled restaurant. Like Panda Express or other mall food court options, you can order a number of sides and entrees as a helpful employee tells you about anything you have no familiarity with. Unlike those fast food options, Filipino Food & Bakery offers home styled Filipino cooking and baking. There is little if any Americanization/fusion. More to the point, adobo will have bones. They make and distribute some nice baked goods that you should try if you’ve never had anything from Goldilocks or other places. Not my favorite Filipino food nor the best I’ve ever had, but a nice homey experience(sans the take out containers and plastic silverware)

Ordered delivery through their website. Easy transaction. The food arrived at the time requested. Portions are big and definitely not skimpy. Got the beef caldereta, chop suey, beef steak, sisig, and some lumpia. All of it was great! Even got some leche flan and that was good and creamy. Enjoyed much that I’m ordering some full trays for an upcoming party. Friendly staff, great customer service. Will try stopping by their store front the next time I’m in the area

Closest filipino food spot to base. Prices are very good and haven’t been disappointed with the quality of the food. I always have my food to go but I could see that the seating area was pretty basic. Nothing fancy at all in there. My go-to foods are the lechon kawali, garlic fried rice, sinigang, and turon. If I want a snack for later, I hit up the bakery section of their store. Overall, good bang for the buck and can satisfy the filipino food cravings.

Was not what I was expecting at all. Sisig was soggy and non crunchy. Garlic fried rice wasn’t too bad. The pork sinigang was okay. Doesn’t beat Tita’s kitchen by a long shot. Server is very friendly. I might have to come another time. Maybe, it was just one of those days but I’ll give them another chance in the future.

I had kind of a plate lunch-type meal that, while simple, was flavorful and great quality! Chicken Adobo: Tender and yummy. The steamed rice with the chicken sauce was outstanding as well! Pancit: Divine — I barely tasted it, as I ate it so fast. It’s one of my favorite Filipino dishes, and this one is up to snuff. Lumpia: I got to sample not one but TWO kinds — the meat-filled type with my meal, and the sweet banana desert-filled kind at the end. Again, I practically inhaled both types! I will definitely go back to sample more — definitely authentic and quality Filipino food worth your time!

I’ve been wanting to try this place as soon as I found it on Unilocal.I finally went this afternoon to try it. They were very helpful for my first time! I tried some samples that new to me. It was fresh and good! I was very happy for the help and talking for a bit. I am so full with the food but I can’t wait to go back again. The food is very delicious.

3rd time back to this filipino dining spot, the highs would be friendly service, clean spacious dining area, diner friendly access to plastic cutlery, sauces, napkins, and filtered cold water, tasty longanisa, and yummy macaroons(ube pandan halohalo) The lows — tough tocino, eggs take longer and not cooked properly, garlic sinangag rice more like generic fried rice, and they didn’t have any macaroons on our most recent visit On a side note, I appreciated them changing channel upon request

Dropped by here today after a friend brought some of their baked goods to a social yesterday. Had their empanadas which were pretty good, but the item that made me come visit the place itself was the ube cookies. Deliciously and so chewy/soft, they were so good. However, they ran out today when I arrived, so I settled for a pack of their bukopandan cookies, which were just as good. Hope to come back and try more of their food, especially those macaroons which most people have mentioned.

I have come and visited this for a seco d try at their breakfast. This time asked for chicken adobo, garlic fried rice, and two sunny side eggs. The customer service is still very attentive. Food: The chicken adobo was good but a little dry becuase of setting too much in the open with improper heating element setting. The chicken was also a little sweet for my taste; as if a little too much sugar was used. The garlic fried roce is typical nothing special. Needs to be elevated a little. I asked for sunny side eggs and was served over easy eggs that were over cooked. Tip: Know and learn the difference bwtween proper sunny side eggs and over easy eggs. Overall: Service excellent!!! Gastronomy, food temperature, and attention to detail. Poor. My first review I rated this establishment a 3 stars. The second visit I rate it 2 stars for repetitive mistakes. A third review is in order and will be my final review for this establishment.

This is one of my go to Filipno places. They make the best pancit. I love their lumpia. It is very tasty and always rolled tight so there are no holes while they are cooking. I have tried many of their items and so far everything is very good. We have ordered lumpia for my sons’s birthday 2 times and they always have them ready on time and everyone loves them. Every person asks me where I get them because they are so good. There is one younger lady who is usually there when we go in. She is extremely nice and lets you try anything you want to make sure you are getting something you like. She has no problem answering any questions you have. It is worth a drive to come here and I recommend doing so. Just don’t come after 6 as sometimes the lumpia and pancit are gone and once it’s gone it’s gone for the day.

Came here for dinner. I was craving Filipino food since my mom doesn’t cook it anymore. She typically buys Filipino food. She cooks Filipino food occasionally. I just don’t cook Filipino food. Too much work. Anyway, this is located near the Del Taco I frequent on Taco Tuesday’s which is considered the Barrio Logan area. Parking is a small lot. As we enter, it feels like a sauna in there. I see the temperature on the thermostat read 90. Holy crap! Who in the world works under this heat? We order food for dine in. I got the garlic fried rice, Tocino and eggplant torta. The garlic fried rice was good. The Tocino was a little hard. I’ve had better. The eggplant torta is just that. It’s a peeled up eggplant cooked with a scrambled egg. So good! I ended up tossing my Tocino. To drink, I had a can of diet Coke. I was sweating as we ate our food. Maybe I should have ordered another dish like pansit or sisig. Hubby didn’t care for his food. He had the garlic fried rice, pancit and sisig. He said it was cold like it sat out for a long time. I would have to agree. My daughter enjoyed the lumpia. She got the last three. Food was just okay. I’d rather have fresh food than food sitting out for a long time. I was also craving halo halo but they didn’t have any. Boo! I’m eventually going to get my halo halo craving fix. They had some Filipino desserts sitting out but food spoils in heat. I don’t plan on returning unless we get fresh Filipino food cooked first thing when we arrive.

A friend who lives in the area turned me onto this place. I stopped by today, wearing my trusty stretchy pants and ordered the two-item combo with four lumpias added on. The combo came with a free bowl of sinigang, even better for putting my stretchy pants to the test. There were so many delicious looking items to chose from. I settled on the Bistek and Pork Sisig with half rice and half pancit. The girl that helped me really loaded up my container to the point that my second item didn’t even fit in there! She put it in a bowl on my tray; it’s like she knew I was wearing stretchy pants. Naturally when she offered me a free bowl of sinigang I’m not about to turn this down, haha. I also ordered 4 lumpias, she smiled, hopefully in appreciation of my healthy appetite. Service here is really great. I was offered an extra plate to share with my little dude, but he’s kind of picky as I explained, he only eats his Lola’s Filipino food. He did pick up a little snack from the bakery though. He was also offered water from the water cooler, which was nice since he’s mostly a milk only drinker. There’s quite a few tables for the small size of the place and everything is kept neat and tidy. They have a tv and were playing Dark Night, my little dude is a huge Batman fanatic so he was quite pleased. I noted that they had a recycle container by the trash can, that was pretty cool, something you don’t see in a lot of food places. The Bistek was so tender and delicious. The girl who served me said I hope it’s as good as your families. Don’t tell them I said this, but it was better. I’d definitely come back here for that. The lumpia were just ok. Honestly though no one could beat my stepmothers lumpia. The Sisig was pretty good, I started to get full halfway through it. I ended up asking for a bag. I came, I saw, I tried my best, but the two item combo kicked my butt.

Filipino Food & Bakery sounds so generic, doesn’t it? But there’s nothing generic about their food. This is straight up Filipino Food without the bells and whistles. Yes, I am Filipino and sometimes you just need to get some good Pinoy Food that isn’t trying to make it fancy shmancy to please the non-Filipinos. It’s a straight-up Turo Turo(Point Point) joint that is honest and ugly to look at and I mean that it the most endearing way possible. While we were vacationing in San Diego back in August, Wifey and the kids wanted some Filipino food since all we’ve been eating was Mexican food. I know about Tita’s in National City, but I did not want to drive all the way down there. Unilocal to the rescue and this place popped up. It’s located right off the freeway and it was a challenge finding it at first since the direction kept me going around in circles until I finally spotted the place. There was a huge banner hanging in front of the place and it was tucked on the corner of a small strip mall that had parking for maybe 20 vehicles at most. Walking in, I had a slight trepidation at first since we were the only customers and they had this huge fan by the door, which made me wonder what the heck was going on and my mind was racing thinking of bad things that could’ve have happened. But fear not as it was only there because it was so damn hot that particular day. As I mentioned, the presentation is straight up and you just have to trust your instinct and order what makes you comfortable. Each of us ordered a combo(Rice and two sides) and got some Dinuguan, Chicken Adobo, Bistek, Mechado Pork Sisig and a side of Sinigang. As a NorCal guy would say, this was HELLA food and all these for only $ 6.50 each. You definitely won’t go hungry here and your bang for your buck will go a long way like a ‘Happy Ending’ massage in Thailand. So I’ve heard. This is just good, Filipino Food. Nothing more… nothing less.

They have a lot here! And it’s really yummy too! Unassuming from the outside, I think if you want your lumpia fix of Filipino bakery treats, I can recommend you try this place out. I’m a little far from this place but for good stuff, I’m willing to travel every once in awhile. I can for a meeting and was pleasantly surprised. It’s not exactly a hole in the wall, and it’s not a gourmet destination spot, but I’d come back here again. Get your basic Filipino food fix needs met here every once in awhile.
