Been here once when it was opened, had the Chicken Fried Rice to go… it was good! Price wasn’t bad. The place was small, but not too small. Now the location is a Korean place called ToFu Ka. Had the food to go so not sure how their actual service was. Too bad the ToFu Ka place isn’t serving Fuze’s fried rice, hehe.

Despite it’s claim that it was renovating, Fuze is gone and has now been replaced by a Korean Tofu house. Where do I get Kalbi Tacos now

FUZE is not closed — they are renovating ** ** Reviewers are reporting this place to be closed, however they are just renovating and will reopen on «the first week of April». Service is great, food is great, ambience is great. A+

I ask the waitress if the potstickers are spicy and she says no. So I order them… Waited forever for my food. All my friends got all their food before me. So I asked the waitress nicely to check on mine, and she said it was coming. 5 min later, nothing. My friends keep eating. 10 min later I ask again and she said she would check. She comes back and says I’m sorry I don’t know what happened. They’re making it now. –_-. All my friends finish eating and have ordered another round of drinks. Starvation has set in. I mooch their left overs. 15 min later I finally get 6 small potstickers. And I dip it in the sauce, take a bite and… The sauce is spicy. I’m starving so I eat a plain one while trying to flag the waitress down. She avoids eye contact. Is it because I have a pot sticker sticking out of my mouth? I ask for a non spicy sauce and she doesn’t understand, so I just ask for plain soy sauce. She looks confused, doesn’t say ok and just walks away. I did get my soy sauce though. It was just all annoying. Food is plain and tastes like stuff I buy Frozen. Nothing special or terribly good. They are always out of the beer I want. My friends liked their food OK and like coming here late night, so I suppose it’s good for that. Décor is plain and sticky. This place reminds me of a ktown hole in the wall bar except with more expensive and mediocre food, with less people for obvious reasons. All the bad things about K town without any of the authentic food and atmosphere to make up for it. But if it’s late and you’re hungry in Mira Mesa, I suppose it would be an option…

We’re so bummed. We never got to try this place. We came here last week and found the restaurant closed with the tables and chairs stacked outside in the patio area. It was totally abandoned and depressing looking. I hope another Korean fusion Resturant opens up soon. We miss kogi!

Not sure if it was an off night or it was what we ordered, but the food was one note. Had the Kimchi Tofu soup, granted the star of the dish is kimchi, but all I could taste was the kimchi. It lacked any depth or salt. We also ordered the Green Goblin based on the Unilocal reviews and glowing recommendation from the waitress. The chicken was over fried and dry. Once again it lacked any salt, the sauces were bland. I’ll have to check it out another time and probably order something else, but at this point I’m not very impressed with the food. The atmosphere was good and the service was friendly.

Soju for happy hour is half price! Tried the Green Goblin this time around. It’s fried chicken thigh with spicy mayo and shredded scallions. It’s pretty good. The shredded scallions are sweet and balance the fried chicken thighs with spicy mayo. I’d get it again.

When I came here they only had one poor girl serving the ENTIRE restaurant! Food is pretty whatevs … soju was weak … I’d only come here if for some reason a bunch of other people wanted it. Nothing sucked — just nothing was really good. Meh indeed.

It is our second time at Fuze. Happy Hour is what brings is here. This is a good Friday’s night spot for hanging out with friends & enjoying Happy Hour if you live in the area and don’t want to drive far. This place has a good vibe & good drinks. It’s not too loud & not too boring. The food is so-so.The cocktails are AWESOME! I can say I have tried every drink on the menu. The bartender really knows how to pour. Plus, the Happy Hour price is good. The only thing I have to complain about is service. Don’t get me wrong, the waiter is really nice. BUTOMG it’s super slow! It’s like there is only one waiter for the entire restaurant during happy hour! The second guy did not come until 7:30pm. Seriously, hire more waiter during happy hour.

Came here for a Holiday Mixer Event and ordered from the Happy Hour menu. We ordered 2 each bulgogi tacos, pork belly tacos and spicy kalbi. We never got the kalbi tacos. The bulgogi tacos were delcious but too greasy. As I was eating the taco, the grease dripped down my hand. Not really appetizing. The pork belly was not that great either. The onions were chopped up too big and it overpowered the taste of the pork belly. Since we didn’t get our bulgogi tacos, we ended up ordering bulgogi fries. The fries were tasty but, again, the fries were too greasy and oily for my taste. There were only 4 people working on that night so service was slow. Real slow. I mean, if you knew you were going to have a lot of people coming in, wouldn’t you get more workers? More workers = more orders = more $$$ = satisfied customers. Just saying…

Finally, some good eats in Mira Mesa! I highly recommend coming here with a group of friends and ordering different things. Each dish can seriously feed more than one person. Unless you’re about that life, then by all means. Anyhoo, get the galbi tacos and the bulgogi fries. This is definitely a breath of fresh air being in San Diego and all you ever eat are carne asada fries. The soju selection is like being in a candy store. So much variety! Atmosphere is pretty chill & it’s pretty much like a lounge, complete with mood lighting. I probably wouldn’t try to get anyone’s number from here though. Bulgogi breath, you know how that is.

Tuesday Taco Night!!! Highly recommend their galbi and spicy octopus tacos! Yum yum! The bulgogi and pork cheek were good too, but the flavors were not as good as the galbi and octopus. Draft beers are $ 3 each, although they only have a few on tap. I like the décor of the restaurant too! It’s a very fun place to hang out with a group of friends. They have booths that can easily fit 6 people. Outdoor seating is also great when the weather is nice. The service was great too! Our servers were pretty attentive and kept us updated on the wait time for food. He apologized when the tacos took a while to come out. It’s always helpful to have a bell on your table to get their attention, just like how many Korean restaurants have it. I’ll definitely be back for more Taco Tuesday nights! :D

4 –star for HH and TT only My advice is, come here for HH and TT. Just in case you think I am crazy, I mean happy hour(daily 5 to 8) and Taco Tuesday(every Tuesday duh!) Specials are awesome and reasonably priced, check out the pics I uploaded for the menu. I personally recommend the Galbi tacos and the pork belly taco(Yes… Mexican and Korean fusion stuff). The tacos were delicious and flavorful, pretty generous portions too. I liked the sauce that they put on the tacos, yummy! Draft selections were limited, only 4 on tap. But that’s ok, I just need one or two that I like. Stone IPA and Blue Moon Seasonal for $ 3 a pint! Oh, the tacos were $ 1.75 each. Can’t beat that. Parking was a breeze cos I think it’s the only business in that strip mall.

Came back here for late night eats the other night. I was pleasantly surprised. They have added booths to break up the monotony of the room, so it does feel a lot more cozier; plus it was more packed than I’ve seen it before. Here are the updates: FOOD: Bulgogi Fries — So bomb. Better than carne asada in my opinion. You can also get chips instead of fries too. Tacos — I tried the spicy bulgogi and pork belly. Surprisingly very good! I would probably suggest they add some spicy mayo though. Grilled Chicken Salad — I actually took this to go for lunch the next day. It was soooo good. The dressing is like a basalmic vinagrette with some kind of sweet onion on the side. I would definitely order all this again. SERVICE — Significantly different from my first visit. Even my friend I was with, another fellow Unilocal Elite, agreed with this. They were very efficient, quick and polite. Seems that they’ve really stepped up their game in regards to customer service. Like I said, I am happy with these improvements they have tried to implement. *** Just a note though… I think since summer is coming, heat lamps outside or lanterns would really help to create some nice ambiance to hang out in. So FUZE… if you’re reading this… maybe you guys should think about it ;)***

I’m rounding down from 2 ½ stars. I just can’t seem to like this place. First of all, the service is shotty. Actually, I don’t remember the service ever being exceptional. The food is overpriced in my opinion. Although it is one of the few Korean/Korean-fusion places in Mira Mesa, I would still drive down to Clairemont if I wanted a decent Korean restaurant. This place just doesn’t really cut it. The best time to go would be on Taco Tuesdays and happy hour. The tacos are fairly cheaper than they normally would be. Spicy Pork tacos are probably my favorite off the menu. The bulgogi is a little too sweet for my liking. I’ve tried the bulgogi nachos and they were ok. I don’t think they should add rosemary(I think its rosemary) to their chips. It doesn’t make the dish taste any better. I’ve also come in for lunch and got the rice bowl with bulgogi. It took forever to come out which I don’t understand because there were only two of us customers in the restaurant. Then, the entrée itself was pretty tasteless. It is served in a piping hot stone bowl which only crisped the rice and made it hard to eat. I also heard a server tell a party of 6 that it’d take up to 30 mins for them to be seated – in an empty restaurant! He said it’d take him that long to clean up a table from a previous party that he didn’t get to. I don’t get the appeal of this place. I hear the drinks are good? Then again, shouldn’t it be recognized for its food? **Forgot to mention, they have buttons at the tables for waiter service but I don’t think they work. Never worked when we used them. Parking entrance is tiny and parking spots are tight. Be careful!

Dude… this place need ambiance… Honestly it felt like a cafeteria and the patio made it look like they were out of business. the food is good and interesting enough, but if they want to survive, they need to make the place more inviting. They need more items to show they are a Korean Fusion place and something in the middle to break up the monotony in the center of the room… make the back room kind of special somehow… maybe couches? In any case, I know the food was fine, but I can hardly remember it due to the way the surroundings impacted me. I think they need to remodel and revamp and then have another Grand opening.

Came in for a weekend brunch. Opens at 11a and no one is sight. In fact, the whole duration we were there, we were the only customers. ODD… Ordered the following: –Calamari($ 7.95): All rings. Comes with two dipping sauces. The first couple bites were good, but as you continue to eat more, it got saltier and saltier. –Bulgogi bowl($ 8.75): Tender meat, but lacked the flavor. Needed more marinade. I’m picky when it comes to veggies, and there was a smörgåsbord of veggies up in this bowl — especially carrots! UGH… I did like the over easy egg, however! –Kalbi tacos($ 7.95): Had a bite and thought it was OK. The service was on par, but then again no one else was in the restaurant. I did notice a lot of flies buzzing around, which was a turn off for me. Fuze is hidden so if you don’t look for it, you might miss it as you pass the driveway.

Finally, a Korean spot in my hood! Came here on a Sunday night around 7. There were 3 or 4 other tables that were occupied so service shouldn’t be problem. Out front they advertise Happy Hour Specials from 5−8pm. I knew this place was fairly new so I lowered my expectations of this place(out of courtesy). Environment: This used to be Mr. Wasabi Sushi. Thank goodness it’s not. Sorry, but Mr. wasabi was overpriced for what you got. Anyways, Fuze is clean and the tables are spaced out pretty well. So I don’t see larger sized parties having a problem. Since this place is modern and wanting the image of korean fusion food, I hope they change the music and add more décor. It appeared like they were playing the radio so it was mixed with all sorts of music. I like themed restaurants to have consistency and that includes the music and décor. What’s funny is once it got dark outside, they dimmed the lights and the feel of the place got better. Kinda hard to explain, but for a lounge, I want it dimmed a little. Service: We were seated promptly and handed menu’s. The waiter immediately brought out water and asked if we wanted anything from the bar. I had to ask about Happy Hour and their specials. Reg Price Soju: $ 8.95. Happy Hour: $ 5.00.(medium size carafe) Otherwise, our waiter was quick to fill up our waters and repeatedly checked up on us to make sure we were ok and if we wanted anything else. Food: Bulgogi Sliders: Very good! I love the green onions on top and the mayo style spread. The meat was soft and full of flavor. Know that this entrée includes fries. The fries i got were bottom batch which means tiny sized and some overcooked. Still good though. Wings: The wings are offered in spicy, soy or buffalo. I ordered it with the spicy sauce on the side since I know korean spicyness if amp’d up a bit. Good thing I did too because it was packin some heat! The wings were really really good! The first couple wings with the sauce made for a very hot/spicy mouth! But you get used to it. I was dippin each wing repeatedly and was able to taste a little sweetness to the sauce too! Friends ordered the soup(didn’t try) and the bulgogi plate. The bulgogi plate included a small side of rice. Now this bulgogi was a little different. It wasnt the type of bulgogi I was used to where the marinade was through the meat. This was more like a stir fry marinade which I really liked! Not sure if this was intentional but I really liked it! Next time I return, I plan on ordering the plate dishes along with Soju… Can’t beat Happy Hour Soju for $ 5! And I can’t wait to try the Galvatron drink! (Pictures posted) FUZE: Wishing you much success in Mira Mesa. Now I don’t have to drive south to Claremont for Korean food! =)

Looks like Mira Mesa has its’ own late night Korean spot now. Since they’ve got food, soju, and a full bar(maybe), the only thing missing is karaōke rooms(and the drunk people singing horribly in them). Since residents of North County often have to drive the distance down to Convoy for late night Asian eats, it’ll be nice for them to know that good Asian food lies closer at Fuze. It’s not traditional Korean at all, it’s actually an interesting fusion of Korean and American, Mexican, Italian, etc. On the night I went, the server told us they were giving out free drinks with vodka in it and asked if we wanted one. What’s in it? Vodka. Okay enough said, we’ll take one. The menu isn’t extensive, but it was hard picking what we wanted to eat. Eventually, we decided to go with the Bulgogi Sliders and the Dukk Bok Ki(rice cakes). The food took a while so we had time to people watch and since the restaurant just opened, I observed that most of the customers there at the time were friends of the owners. Our server came by and apologized for the wait, but we didn’t really mind. He said they were still training and working out some kinks. Our Dukk Bok Ki arrived first and I’ve never seen anything like it. Unlike the traditional Korean dish, this version had cheese and sauce, which I’m assuming it had an Italian twist to it because the dish was like pasta. An interesting rendition, however, I still prefer the Korean version 10x better. The Bulgogi sliders came with three on the plate. Very nicely put together, they had bulgogi, cheese, and green onion(I think?) in it. Eaten in 4 bites or less, I thought the slider was good. My only critique is that I think it could’ve used some more meat in it. While our dining experience wasn’t perfect, I can tell the effort was there in the role of our server. He did a great job and checked on us several times. He wanted to make sure everything was okay and that we were happy customers. I definitely want to come back and try the Kalbi tacos and some other menu items. Overall, Fuze looks like a cool place to hang out and drink. It’s definitely the same kind of crowd you would find at Min Sok Chon and I think that this place has the potential to do just as well especially since the food and drinks are reasonably priced. They’re still in their very early stages of starting out, so give them a few months to get things down.
