Extremely friendly staff. I’m gonna miss my local liquor store guys once I move. This place is a staple of North Park and if you’re looking for a nice selection of beer, wine or liquor, they got it. Closest liquor store that sells smoke in the heart of North Park. Hooked me up with ice one day. It’s been nice getting to know them over the years.

The dudes who work here are hilarious. The beer selection is pretty good also! A little steep on prices but definitely great place to get swishers!

We were walking past earlier this evening and figured what the hell, might as well buy some beer. I was really surprised at how nice the store looks! From other reviews it seems like this place has been around a while and it has apparently been taken care of. This is also the only time I have EVER been carded even though my boyfriend was the one buying the alcohol. That was kind of nice. It shows this place isn’t some skeevy store that will look the other way in order to make a sale.(But I am old enough to buy my own beer, thank you very much.) Not bad.

Glenn’s Market, it’s been there forever amongst the North Park landscape. My mom grew up over on Utah Street for the first ten years of her life in the 1960’s and almost any childhood story she recalls running all around the streets of North Park unattended and going into Glenn’s Market to buy some candy. When she’s in the area she still gets reminiscent. Glenn’s is still there and I’m sure plenty of little kids go in to buy candy, hopefully now a days with the supervision of their parents. I stopped in for my first time the other day while out on a bike ride and out of Smart Water to get me through the rest of my journey. I am impressed with Glenn’s because it is not the seedy liquor store you think of in your mind. This is the nicest liquor store I’ve ever been into ever, anywhere. When is the last time you walked in to any corner store and they had nicer tile than most people have in their houses? The patrons and employee did not seem sketchy at all and as a lady by herself, I appreciate that. Glenn’s thanks for being there. Candy stop, beer stop, water stop, whatever it is, Glenn, please don’t stop.

The guys working here rock. Very nice and helpful dudes. Im sure theyre brothers. The night of the BIGBLACKOUT, these guys stayed open to serve needy North Park folks, myself included by staying open and selling vital items such as beer, candy bars, water and potato chips The store itself has a huge selection of alcohol and snack items plus items like pasta, peanut butter, condoms, etc etc Theyre moving to the other corner of the block, from what I heard.

Glenn’s Market has a fantastic historic neon sign done in the Streamline Moderne style. The building itself is a good example of that style of architecture. Would love to see the building restored to its original appearance but the historic neon looks as good as ever. I drove by the other night, it looks like the neon gas has recently been recharged, and the sign is glowing beautifully. It’s an icon of historic San Diego.

Glen’s is soooo convenient! They have never not had something I was looking for(i hope that makes sense). From emergency sewing kits to deodorant(not to mention booze), Glen’s has it all! In the far, back corner cooler/fridge there is a random selection of unique of beers. I try to get a different one each visit. I like the guy that’s always working because he always cards me and says I look way under 26(that’s always a +)!

Really? People go here with the intention of buying groceries? Huh. Anyway. Glenn’s Market is my friendly neighborhood liquor store. And it’s good at what it’s there for. Being quick, convenient, and complete. They’ve got a decent selection of beers and your standard collection of liquor. Prices are average, neither good or bad. The place is clean, non-sketchy for the most part, and does have a good amount of munchies that are good with, well, all that booze you’re buyin’, sonny. Not quite as good of a beer selection as Pacific Liquor on El Cajon Blvd, but slightly closer to my apartment, and there’s no hookers out front.

I just joined Unilocal to let everyone know about the bad service I rec’d at Glenn’s. I bought a 6 pack of Red Stripe yesterday, got it home and it tasted awful. You know that skunky flavor that tells you instantly that somewhere along the line the beer got warm and then cold again? So I took the beer back to exchange it for a new pack. The guy would only give me 5 beers and I even took the 6th one in with saran wrap on it! His response was that he didn’t make the beer so it wasn’t his fault! I tried to return the rest of the beer as I didn’t want to give him my service but he refused. I’m all about supporting the small, local business but Glenn’s Market will never again get any support from me!

I live a block away from Glenn’s Market, and, as Adam said, you should look elsewhere for your grocery needs. It’s not a market, it’s a liquor store. The shelves may have boxes of wheat thins on them, but look closer and you’ll see a formidable layer of dust atop each one. Still, I have to give Glenn’s 3 whole stars because it’s always there when I need some decent beer at a decent price.(Not great, just decent.) They’ve got a surprisingly good selection of local beers(mostly in 22 oz bottles), along with a plethora of 40s for when my friends and I are feeling trashy. The guy behind the counter always chuckles when a big gang of us shows up tipsy, and we usually regale him with stories from the bars as he leers at the girls in group. We’ve also stopped by on a couple hot afternoons for ice cream bars and popsicles, which is nearly as indispensable a service as the beer. Also, they stock a lot of MD20/20, in case hobo wine is your sort of thing.

I lived across the street from Glenn’s for about a year, and I learned early on to go elsewhere for my grocery needs. I’m all about supporting local businesses, so I went here instead of the chain stores a few times. But I found myself paying more than expected every single time. A seven dollar run would become a ten dollar run, 11 became 16, and so on and so forth. Eventually I got tired of it and started driving the mile-or-so to Albertsons. AV
