$ 7 for a chocolate dipped strawberry was not worth it. I iniatially did not might spending the money because I thought it was going to be worth it. I asked the clerk how is Godiva chocolate different from other chocaltiers. She could not give me a difinitive answered other than, «I am new here. I am not sure.» The chocolate was not smooth and sweet for a chocolate described as dark. If you are a true chocoholic, I recommend Guido Gabino from Turin, Italy. Very smooth. It is so different from American chocolate(I know Godiva is from Belgium, but the chocolate is different here to accomodate the sweeter American palate).

My hubby took me here for the first time on the way to taking our baby to the zoo, it was a few months after the birth of our son and I can easily say I was feeling pretty exhausted, fugly and under-indulged. So I think to myself why in the hell is he taking me to this fattening place while I’m still trying to shed the baby weight? I know he just wanted to do something nice for me so that I could indulge in something for myself and have a nice little pick me up. As I thought we are walking into hell I’m only going to get one tiny piece of chocolate as I looked around at all the deliciousness that surrounded me I told him I only wanted one truffle. That little thing changed my whole attitude, it was a strawberry truffle which was a white chocolate coated drizzled with dark chocolate and a nice sweet and tangy strawberry and white chocolate ganache filling. I took one bite of that and I was hooked, it was like hell turned into heaven immediately. I then tried another I think it was the belgian premier truffle, walked out with about 5 or 6 truffles between the two of us and a white chocolate raspberry chocolixir drink cold, sweet and refreshing which is perfect on a hot summer dayrfect. How can something that seems so bad can make you feel so good?! I ate them without guilt and started trying to rationalize everything lol like hey I’m nursing so I’ll drop the pounds and this dark chocolate is full of antioxidants so good for the baby’s milk, Godiva will make you start thinking and feeling like you deserve it but be careful with this feeling don’t go overboard lol. All this writing is making me consider making a little trip there today :) PS — The prices are not as steep as you may think if you’re concerned about the image they have of being über pricey. I mean, it will be worth your money and as long as you are not trying to buy the whole place you’re good. Now if they got a little raunchy and sold some sexy edible body chocolate or something they would be a hit for the grown and sexy crowd but nonetheless this would be a great place to stop for a nice birthday or valentines day treat to get someone :)

My shortest review… Get the champagne truffles and grand marnier truffles. You’re welcome! 4 stars! Govida is yummylicious!

Can’t hate on Godiva. But cmon really? you got rid of the single best item you had for sale? Fruit dipped in chocolate? Dried apricot with milk choc. Banana and strawberry in dark choc. and the berry cups? Really? If it wasn’t for my longstanding love affair with this place it would be a 1 star now that the fruit is gone. I hope they realize they screwed up by removing it… 4 stars on reputation and prior experience. their chocolate is crave-worthy. But shame on you for taking away the best menu item.

I prefer other chocolate/candy stores as oppose to Godiva, unless it is the Godiva cheesecake at cheesecake factory. The prices here are proportional to the brand image. However… we met Isys who is literally in LOVE with chocolate. She made our visit to this place awesome after we started talking about other places to get chocolate and it showed that she was meant to work here. I couldn’t believe she was so passionate about chocolate. I would have given this place 3 stars but Isys made it 4 stars. Make sure you get on their mailing list to get a free piece every month.

Godiva chocolate is so yummy and delicious. I went there last week and got dessert for the family. They signed me up for the Godiva club. I was hoping this would not mean I had to dash though Horton Plaza naked on a horse. Thankfully after a few truffles and an assessment of my physique we all decided this was not a good idea.

I went to a FREE chocolate tasting here once… a long time ago. It was an hour of HOTCHOCOLATESEX. The adorable gay manager gave us an extensive history lesson on chocolate and Godiva. And the best part… yes, of course… the FREE samples! We were all given three huge truffles AND a cup of thick Spanish hot chocolate… like the kind you dip your churros in and that makes your chest hairs stand up. But wait… oh no… it didn’t stop there. After we were served, we were given a lesson on how to make love to our chocolate. Sound nasty? Yeah, baby! We were taught not to devour it, but first to look at it seductively… then to breathe in the sweet chocolate aroma… finally to take a slow bite and let the chocolate melt in our mouth. It was one big CHOCOLATEORGY! And that, my friends, is the proper way to eat chocolate(at least according to the Godiva manager). UBERSEXY!

After trying on clothes for hours, and possibly realizing I’m not as skinny as I want to be, it’s always a pleasure to walk into Godiva and give into the guilty-indulgence. Buying one Extra Dark Chocolate Truffle for almost $ 2 is totally worth it. So what if I’m not a size 0? Who cares if I’m not anorexic as Nicole Richie pre-pregnancy?! All I know is, I am a foodie, and I ADORE chocolate. From the first moment that I bite into the chocolatey morsel, everything around me slows down… my pace, the music, the people walking… even my heartrate… until the sugar kicks in and then I’m in temporary euphoria. Yeah — chocolate does that to me.

Godiva chocolates are my biggest weakness! My favorites are the roasted almond truffle, open oyster, and the praline cascade(which sadly, I belive they stopped making). If you’re lucky, you can get the seasonal cheesecake truffle. Yum! Although, they are on the pricey side(around $ 1.75-$ 2.00 per piece), they are great for a reward every once in awhile(or in my case, every week). The varieties vary from store to store, so you can stop into different ones to look for your favorite piece. Also, make sure to eat your piece right away for that perfect«snap» to the chocolate or refrigerate a few minutes before eating.

Godiva chocolates come in these lavish gold boxes with a big ribbon and some kind of decorations tied around it. Their chocolates are in shapes of smooth shells, ovals, etc… that are really appealing actually. Every company’s chocolate has their own flavor and character… and I am not an extreme fan of the taste of Godiva’s. There have been other chocolates that I adore more. For taste, 3 stars, but because their gold boxes are so nice, 4. Makes a good present.
