Golf Fest 2012 San Diego

This review is for the Golf Fest 2012 held at the Riverwalk Golf Club in San Diego
Bad experience and I would not attend this trade show ever again. Designed to be as little fun as possible for the attendee while extracting the maximum amount of dollars and marketing data.
First there is the parking charge. OK $ 5 is not so bad, but then wait around for a cart to drive you to the point to where you can pay $ 10 to enter this «show». This consists mainly of boothsselling what you might expect, and see for free at a well stocked golf store. Very little entertainment value. You’re paying to enter a store basically. No giveaways, no cool demos.
To get your free golf is a time wasting game. Take your receipt to a booth where you enter all your pertinent data, including martial status and income, on a a touch screen to get another receipt. Then take that receipt and walk all the way to the pro shop (where they told you to go). The pro shop then redirects you to another booth. I think I spent a total of 45 minutes in this chase waiting in lines and walking back and forth. The free golf isn’t really free, it’s more like a discount (with purchase of a shared cart).
OK so the free driving range is the deal right? The lines are so long people are angry. One guy yelled at me thinking I was a vendor. Not fun. And the lady running the beer tasting booth snapped at me because I unknowingly stepped my foot across the paid admission line.
Next time I’ll just pay the $ 10 for a normal driving range, and make a visit to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
